• Is there a FSRef in iPhone SDK or is there something that can be FSRef's alternative?

  The question may sound stupid, but the thing is this: I am learning how to use a Audio Queue, and the example I've taken (aqtest) has been a nice guide for me until I recently found out that aqtest is not for iPhone. (stupid me) I served around the Internet and found out that there is no FSRef for iPhone. If possible, I want to find a way to work around FSRef thinggie. So here comes the question: can I use something else instead of FSRef that exists on the iPhone SDK? Or am I missing something?

• Geocoding autocomplete bias not working

  I'm using the following code to get the autocomplete functionality for an address input box using Google Maps API v3: function initializeAutocomplete() { var defaultBounds = new google.maps.LatLngBounds( new google.maps.LatLng(1.484016,103.575212), new google.maps.LatLng(1.233592,104.033618)); var input = document.getElementById('destStreet'); var myOptions = {bounds: defaultBounds, types: ['geocode']}; autocomplete = new google.maps.places.Autocomplete(input, myOptions); } The problem is that biasing doesn't seem to work as the first results are usually not relevant to the defined bounds (a country). I've seen a few apps working fine, so I'm wondering where the problem is. I came across the JQuery autocomplete plugin (http://code.google.com/p/geo-autocomplete/) which would seem like a good alternative since it has a region filter, but I'm unable to "install it" or use it because of my very limited knowledge (I learn by example). Could you please help me getting more relevant results with the above code or guide me through the implementation of the JQuery alternative? Of course I'm very open to other suggestions as well.

• Setting up a non-emacs Common Lisp Dev Env for web application development?

  I am trying to set up a Common Lisp Dev Env for web application development on my Ubuntu 10.04 LTS 64-bit box and I can't find a single decent guide that is targeted at noobs. The closest I came is with Peter Seibel's Lisp in a box but I detest Emacs with a passion and it seems to have older versions of SBCL and CLISP (which are my preferred CL implementations). I do not want to use any of the commercial implementations. I am looking for a simple setup to write some very basic CRUD apps involving possibly hunchentoot, some framework like weblocks,CL-WHO, CL-SQl, sqlite or some datastores from the nosql family like mongo and couch.. Assuming, I go with either SBCL or CLISP on Linux, what is the best tool to manage packages and libraries? ASDF? I am looking for simplicity and consistency and I don't expect to use a ton of libs...

The question is: which libraries/frameworks do you use in your current ZF-based project? what are the best practices for ZF-based project architecture? I don't mean any components that are already a part of ZF. Please give a description of aditional frameworks you have integrated (like RuckUsing, Smarty, or Doctrine). It also applies to any GUI frameworks (perhaps you use a CSS framework), as well as JS frameworks (not just jQuery or prototype, but rather some advanced structures). The main requirement: it has to be a ZendFramework project. Additional bonus will be given to answers that describe performance optimization.

• Using NSURLRequest+NSURLConnection seems overkill for a webcall with no data return

  All, This might seems very straightforward but I have already gone through the URL loading system program guide and the various NSURL.... classes and not found my answer. I am just trying to do a simple call from the app to a website to reserve a party spot: NSString *path=[NSString stringWithFormat:@"http://www.myparty123.com/ireservedURL.asp?Nickname=%@&Seat=%i&Email=%@&Currentparty=%i",john,5432,[email protected],6598]; NSURL* reservationURL =[NSURL URLWithString:path]; NSData *call= [NSData dataWithContentsOfURL:reservationURL]; This seemed to be the simple way but I get this warning that I am not using the "call" variable. And it seems overkill to do a call using NSData where there is no data return. Yet, creating an NSURLRequest and initiating an NSURLConnection and then implementing delegates with that request seems to be overkill as well. What am I missing. Thanks KMB

  How can I make simple format-type customizations to ALL OOTB workflow related emails? I have found that many pre-Sharepoint 2010 posts indicated that OOTB workflow emails are in fact 'alerts', and therefore OOTB workflow emails could be customized using the same technique which is: making a customized version of alerttemplates.xml and even using IAlertNotifyHandler to intercept all alert emails. However, it seems that OOTB workflow and workflow task emails are not affected by changes to my customalerttemplates.xml file (which I do follow with stsadm updatealerttemplates, iisreset, and timer service restart).   What is the time limit for two taps to be considered a double-tap, on the iPhone OS? // Edit: Why is this important? In order to handle single-tap and double-tap differently, Apple's guide says to do performSelector...afterDelay with some 'reasonable' interval on first tap (and cancel it later if the second tap is detected). The problem is that if the interval is too short (0.1), the single tap action will be performed even when double-tapping (if relying only on tapCount, that is). If it's too long (0.8), the user will be waiting unnecessarily for the single-tap to be recognized, when there is no possibility for a double-tap. It has to be exactly the correct number, in order to work optimally, but definitely not smaller, or there's a chance for bugs (simultaneous single-tap and double-tap).

  I'm trying to work through this guide to Rails routing, but I got stuck in section 3.3: Creating a RESTful route will also make available a pile of helpers within your application and then they list some helpers like photos_url, photos_path, etc. My questions: Where can I find the complete list of helpers that is "made available?" Is there a way to call the helpers in the console? I created an app, then opened up the console with script/console. • cahoots - zend framework application is not running

  hello everyone, I downloaded cahoots from sourceforge.net. It is a zend framework application. Very nicely done and I must say that it should be a nice tutorial for everyone who is struggling to learn Zend framework. But my problem is that even after reading the instructions this application is still not running. The application just doesn't run at all giving an error message. I have tried my best. no success :( Also I wanted to execute the application as "http://localhost/cahoots" but it runs by this URL "http://localhost/cahoots/public". why is it so.? I am using XAMPP v 1.7.1 with mod-rewrite enabled. Please guide me through the process. Any good tutorials on zend framework with zend tool would be appreciable. I want to learn this framework. • Read a remote zipped xml with just XSL

  Hello there I want to know if it's possible for an XSLT file to read data from an XML located within folders of a remote zip(from the server at work), without any external processors (saxon and so forth) and without downloading it. Failing that, I'll resort to just reading the information from the zip... which brings me to my other (newb)issue. I currently have an XSLT that accesses and gets the data from the downloaded and extracted XML file, but I can't do this without extracting it. I've read that with Altova and xslt 2.0 it is possible to read from within a zip file using the document() function, though, as of yet I have not been able achieve this. this is how I'm trying to do it: document('name.zip|zip/folder/folder2/iwantthis.xml') It just doesn't seem to find the file. I'd be almost eternally grateful if you show me the error of my ways and guide me into XSLThood. Thank you kindly

  hey all, well i want to have an autocompleting textbox like the one in the image below: this screenshot is from an accounting software. whenever the user focuses on a textbox and starts typing something the suggestions just popup under the control (as seen in the image under the Purc type textbox).This autosuggest functionality even works in the cells of the grid shown in the picture.Moreover the fields in which this autosuggest is enabled allows only values from the autosuggest list to be filled up and nothing else. i want to emulate similar functionality in my app in vb6. so if you could please guide me in the right direction i would be very grateful. thanks in advance to all those who take out time to reply.

  I'm trying to build a simple Magento Module that needs to connect to the database at the start of each page request. All tables need to be accessible to it. I've been pulling my hair out trying to understand how to do it. The best I could figure out was that I need to set this in the config.xml file of my module, but exactly what that command is/how it may be used, i haven't been able to figure out. Can someone please guide me or show me how to accomplish this? If not, would it be too bad a practice to include a custom config.php file which connects to the database manually?

• CentOS: revert python version back to original

  Hi all, I installed python 2.6 using the instructions here on CentOS 5.4. However I realized it was a bad move and I need to revert back to 2.4, which was there originally. Can anyone guide me on how to undo what I did here? In particular, I am not sure how to undo this: Configure ld to find your shared libs: $ cat /etc/ld.so.conf.d/opt-python2.5.conf /opt/python2.5/lib (hit enter) (hit ctrl-d to return to shell) $ ldconfig I tried removing the alias and the symlink and even re-aliasing python to /usr/bin/python, but when I try to install an RPM i get this error: error: Failed dependencies: libpython2.4.so.1.0 is needed by ...   Hi Everyone this is what i want to achieve 1) Have a page control that allows user to do a swipe to 6 different pages 2) each page is a table view controller 3) everything is done via code NOT IB The tutorials that are i find either use VIEW CONTROLLER or is done via IB. I am not very good with IB and prefer to have everything done via coding. I have a TableViewController.h and TableViewController.m When the user navigate to the TableViewController view, my application will display a table view (filled with some information), when the user swip to the next page, another page (table view) will appear with another set of information... I am very new to objective-c and iphone programing...can some one pls guide me on how to achieve the above or is there another way to doing things? oh yar....i have a tab bar controller as my root controller...and for one of the tab (tab A) i have a navigation controller and my TableViewControllers falls inside tab A. • Configuring a library to be included with C++ test

  Hello, I would like to utilize the UnitTest++ library in a testing file. However, I am having some difficulty getting the library to be included at compile time. So here is my current directory structure: tests/ UnitTests++/ libUnitTest++.a src/ UnitTests++.h unit/ test.cpp I have just used the UnitTest++ getting started guide to just get the library setup. Here is test.cpp: // test.cpp #include <UnitTest++.h> TEST(FailSpectacularly) { CHECK(false); } int main() { return UnitTest::RunAllTests(); } And I am currently trying to compile with: gcc -lUnitTest++ -L../UnitTest++/ -I../UnitTest++/src/ test.cpp I am currently getting a bunch output with ld: symbol(s) not found at the end. So how would I be able to get the UnitTest++ library properly included when this program is compiled? I am on a Mac and I'd also like for there to be an easy way for people on a Linux machine to run these same tests. Whew, I hope this provides enough information, if not please let me know.

  I'm trying to understand type patterns and generic classes in Haskell but can't seem to get it. Could someone explain it in laymen's terms? In [1] I've read that "To apply functions generically to all data types, we view data types in a uniform manner: except for basic predefined types such as Float, IO, and ?, every Haskell data type can be viewed as a labeled sum of possibly labeled products." and then Unit, :*: and :+: are mentioned. Are all data types in Haskell automatically versions of the above mentioned and if so how do I figure out how a specific data type is represented in terms of :*:, etc? The users guide for generic classes (ch. 7.16) at haskell.org doesn't mention the predefined types but shouldn't they be handled in every function if the type patterns should be exhaustive?   Hi, I want using GPS data (I got it from $GPRMC) in an desktop application(that uses from mappoint 2009). I get the latitude & longitude, but when I check these points on map, I see the result is incorrect (for example My Data is: 43.412 N, 79.369 W ; but the correct point is: 43.686 N, 79.616 W ). I guess, I must use a correction method before use; I try "Projection method" like "Miller" or "Mercator", but those aren't effective. Can anyone guide me?

• Git push works for gitosis but not my own repo (Permission denied)

  Hi, I follow this exact guide to setup my GIT server: http://blog.agdunn.net/?p=277 I tried it before and it works. However, this time, when I provision a new server, it doesn't. I followed the exact steps and I provision it 3 times. It still failed. I get this errors: Permission denied (publickey). fatal: The remote end hung up unexpectedly However, this only happen when I try to add a remote origin and push my new repo. If I do a git push on my gitosis, it works perfectly fine. I tried look into the IP and all the permission, I can't figure out what went wrong. Another test I did was, I went into .ssh/known_hosts/ and delete the IP entry. When I tried to do a git push for gitosis-admin, it will prompt if I wanted to allow this IP. However, this prompt doesn't appear for my new repo. Any help will be great appreciated. Thanks, Mickey
