• Notepad++ tabbing out of tags, autocomplete

  I'm trying to learn a little HTML. Everyone says to use Notepad++ over notepad. I have autocomplete on. My question: When I type my opening tag and Notepad++ then puts"""" closing tag, how do I "jump" out of the tag when I'm done typing? If I tab or hit enter, I'm still stuck before the closing tag. I can use my arrow keys, but if I'm going to do that, I would rather just type the closing tags. Also if I have an UL of 10 items, and I want to change it to an OL, how do I select both the opening and closing tags so I may edit them at the same time? • SSH: one user logs in, other don't

  Some users can ssh correctly, others don't. I have an admin user, which is in wheel. I used vsftpd for allowing FTP. I created a nologin user for FTP. Call this user "ftpuser". Now I want to allow sftp. It allows me to connect using admin user. I remove the nologin, by giving the user a shell via usermod -s /bin/bash ftpuser. It still doesn't allow me to connect from the ftpuser via sftp. The content of /home/ftpuser/.ssh is just the known_hosts file which contains "localhost" entry only. User permissions are (in theory) ok: ls -la /home working (admin) : drwx------ 18 admin admin 4096 Feb 6 15:33 admin non-working(ftpuser): drwx------ 3 ftpuser ftp 4096 Mar 26 15:25 ftpuser I haven't configured anything special on openssh. Does the ftpuser need anything extra than shell to enter via ssh?

• How to boot window from recovery partition?

  Acer service center created recovery discs for my acer laptop. And they also created a partition in which contains the data from recovery discs. I can see that partition from disk management only. But how do I boot from it? Some months ago I have linux os installed. So when the laptop boot up I can see that partition. But not Now. How to boot from it? I can't see that drive when i press F12. F2 = enter BIOS setup F8 = Boot in safe mode F12 = choose the boot drive

• Deploying a Windows 7 image, which way is the fastest?

  I captured an image of a basic Windows 7 installation with some modifications using imagex. Before the image was captured, I ran sysprep generalizing and selecting to enter OOBE after it's done. Which way would be the fastest to deploy that image again? Using imagex /apply. Or naming the image install.wim and put it in the source folder of a normal installation (on a bootable USB device), running a normal setup afterwards. Currently I have only tried the second approach. However I just found out about the imagex way and wondered if it would be faster. Or are the even more methods that would be better?

• Unknown Exception when entering particular keystrokes in Notepad++

  When I enter the keystrokes - in a normla file, everting works fine. When I put in <?php and save the file, use the same keystrokes again, than a unknown exception appears. If i delete <?php and try it again, everything works well again. What could this be ? I searched in the Internet, no results. I tried to reinstall all my plugins, no result. I updated my np++, no result. (On my work I use the same version. It works there!)

• what free app can i use to resize an image to specific heigh x width?

  I have an image that is huge and i want to re-size it down to 375 x 210 px to enter a competition. I would like to keep the aspect ratio of the image the same and not have to crop if I dont have to. i dont think my original image is the same ratio or proportions so i understand ill need to crop to get that in line but the rest should just be shrunk. that is to say i dont want to have to crop a small part of the image to meet the 375 x 210 px requirement.

• MS Access Query Criteria Issue

  Currently I have a MS Access database query that has a field named FedEXDetTotal that totals 9 FedEX charge fields. I have another field that is from our inhouse system called "Total Charge". This is just a normal number field. I have created another Field in this query Diff: [FedEXDetTotal]-[Total Charge] This tells me the difference between the Fedex charge and what we actually charged. Everything works OK with this, but when I try to put the criteria 5 for the Diff field, when I run the query, I get a prompt saying "Enter Parameter Value FedEXDetTotal". Why is Access doing this? How do I get around this? I'm trying to start out with something simple(5), but what I really want is [Forms]![Dis].[txtbox_Diff].

• Windows 7/Outlook 2010 cut off controls on form windows

  I am running windows 7 with multiple monitors. 2 at 1920 x 1200 and 1 at 1600x900 resolution. Controls are cut off and I cannot view the entire content of the window. As far as I can tell I only have the issue with Outlook 2010, it may be present in other applications but I haven't noticed it. For example to get to the more settings button I have to use tab and then click enter. The more settings button is never visible. I have used applications that allow you to force windows to be resizable, however the anchoring is such that it remains cut off. This has been present over multiple clean installs on the system. My DPI is set to 100% unlike this issue.

• DISK BOOT FAILURE after upgrading power supply

  After upgrading my power supply, I get the following error message when trying to boot into Windows 7. DISK BOOT FAILURE, INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER My Windows 7 installation is on a SATA hard drive. I'm able to fix this problem if I hook up my IDE hard drive, then it boots the SATA hard drive fine. I don't like this solution though because then that means my IDE hard drive is drawing power even though it isn't being used. Why would a newer power supply need the IDE hard drive hooked up just to boot into the SATA hard drive? There are no boot files on the IDE hard drive; it is completely empty. My old power supply did not need it hooked up in order to boot the SATA hard drive.

  I have a local host server hosting a few applications in tomcat which comes through a apache proxy The client or User trying to access these application has to access them like 10.XXX.XXX.XX:8080/appName OR 10.XXX.XXX.XX/appName But I want to replace the ip address with soem other name related to my applications. But I cannot go and enter the host name of the server in each users /etc/host Nor do I want to be setting up DNS. Is there another way to do this. • How to disable text overwrite mode in Netbeans (CentOS)?

  Everytime I type some text, it is overwriting what I have typed. I assume that the mode is set to overwriting, I want to insert the text not overwrite it, but I can't disable it because my insert key is mixed up with my delete key so everytime I enter insert to disable the overwrite mode, it just delete what I type. So how to disable this? I'm using centOS.. and it seems that my problem is only related to Netbeans because when I type here, it is set to insert mode.. but in Netbeans, it just overwrites the codes! help!

• Long lag and errors clicking gmail links in google chrome

  I recently downloaded Google Chrome with Ubuntu 9.04 and love it. Ironically one site I consistently have issues with is gmail. When I enter gmail I will click a link, say an email or the inbox link. After a very long wait (on the order of 30 seconds to a couple of minutes) my page will load with an error such as: Some Gmail features have failed to load due to an Internet connectivity problem. If this problem persists, try reloading the page, using the older version, or using basic HTML mode. Learn More. Googling the symptoms has not helped. Has anyone else had any similar issues? Has anything helped?

• Windows Java-based apps not working

  After updating the Java JRE to 7u25, many Java-based applications not works as usual, the I upgrade Java to 7u45, and still the apps not working. Minecraft start screen not showing, have to press TAB key to select the Run button and press ENTER to run the game. Netbeans IDE it's running, but none it's showing on the screen. Eclipse and JDownloader are working fine. I cannot run the Java Control Panel, it's only shows the Java icon at the taskbar. • Has anyone figured out how to use same username with different passwords (Windows)

  Tried Googling, tried net use, and anything I could, with no results. I have a PC with users, and I have a network server with shared folders. For some users the usernames of the share and local account match, but the passwords are different (a good security practice). Unfortunately, Windows doesn't want to remap the drives on login, and asks for credentials when I try to connect. If I enter the password, the connection succeeds, but it still fails on next login, even if I have checked the "remember" checkbox. On PC: usera@machinea pass1 On NAS: usera@nas pass2 net use z: \\nasip\usera /user:nasip\usera pass2 /persistent:yes Credential store seems to have the user credentials stored... But the mapping fails all the time.

• Vim: I don't want to insert!!!

  I could not find anything online addressing this problem, which is surprising. The problem is that I find it very easy to accidentally insert stuff in Vim. I know I can undo by with 'u', but it still is quite annoying and frequent. Often, I enter a command like 'sp file.txt' without realizing that I haven't entered the ':' character yet (so I'm not yet on the command line). Unfortunately, there are several characters that take you to insert mode, including 's', 'a', 'i', 'o'. I'd rather have insert mode mapped to just one keybinding which is very deliberate, like shift-space. Can anyone point me to something that might have what I'm looking for? Thanks.

  Hi all, I'd like to forward calls from a Skype account to another Skype account (both online), but so that it calls and then enters a number. E.g., I have two accounts: acc1 and acc2. I want all calls from acc1 to be forwarded to acc2, and when the call is established to enter "#123". Is that possible? Thanks. We're being asked by a customer to enter into an agreement regarding technical support for a software application that we're selling.   Related to my older question: Get xp product key from boot Thanks for the help on that one. So, in the end, i couldn't get into my harddrive because i didn't have the available hardware to hook it up to another computer to get the old activation key. So, instead, i entered another activation key (i know, naughty) in hopes that there would be a way to retrieve the old one, restore point or something afterwords. What legal ways can I get xp re-activated after a repair when I don't have any record of my activation key? for those who think im just trying to crack it, your wrong: Got a virus, which stopped me from getting into windows Got AVG Anti Virus, which stopped me from getting into safe mode Got a 2 year old, who decided to rip-off and chew my activation sticker on my computer (nice one). Repaired windows installation thinking i wouldn't be asked to re-enter the activation key, to find that i was.

• Shortcut key for "Open file location" in Windows 7

  I'm new to Windows (former Mac user) and using Windows 7 for about two months now. I almost exclusively use the taskbar to navigate to files (i.e., I press the Win/meta key and start typing... my libraries and naming conventions make it pretty easy to get the correct file). Then I press enter and the file opens. Awesome. But sometimes I want to see the file in its folder (i.e., maybe I want to rename, move, copy, etc.). To do this I need to mouse/trackpad over and right click to get the "Open in file location" options. Is there another way, short of searching for the folder name instead? Is there a hotkey/shortcut for "Open file location"? Thanks!

• How to ask Debian not to check last mount time of its file system?

  I'm using Debian 6.0.5. To test a feature of my product, I need to modify the system date&time back and forth frequently. Once a time I set the system date back to one month ago, then I reboot the system, and it reported the last mount time of the file system is in the future and enter the maintenance mode automatically. I had to run the fsck to make sure the file system is not broken to boot into Debian. Is there any way to ask Debian stop checking the last mount time of its file system when booting? Thanks.

  New user to this site and found an extremely informative answer to a question I had but can't find an answer to this one. Using Access 2010, I have 42 different criteria that I need to run individually using the same query. Rather than have 42 queries, or an input parameter dialogue box where I need to enter the criteria 42 times, can I automate this so that the 42 criteria are sourced sequentially from a different table and input to the query using a macro/ module etc. Unfortunately I have no experience of SQL/VBA so am struggling. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

• What's the behaviour when opening a group of files at once?

  I selected a group of .odt files, right-clicked the first one and selected open. I would have thought they would open in alphabetical order, but as the second screenshot shows, they're not - the one with "2014-11-13" opens before "2013-10-23". And then when I select the whole group and press Enter, they open in order - and sometimes they don't. What's the behaviour when you right-click and open for a batch of files? Does it start with the one you selected and pick random files in the list to open next?

  In our network, single domain controller, when some users (members of the domain) request shared folders on the server they are required to enter their credentials, the server is Windows Server 2008 R2, even checking to remember my credentials doesn't work, sometimes it shows this message: "The system has detected a possible attempt to compromise security. Please ensure that you can contact the server that authenticated you", sometimes it shows different messages, when I try to recreate the case sometimes I failed, I searched Google for it, I didn't find useful results, some talk about kerberos, but we don't use kerberos, this keeps going each day or two, how to overcome this, I don't want these messages to appear to users?
