    The C# Language Reference on MSDN defines that protected internal as "Access is limited to the current assembly or types derived from the containing class". But from the semantic point of protected internal" sounds to me like both protected and internal which means the member will accessible only to those derived classes with in the same assembly. Is there any access modified that has a meaning to the same effect?

    If I write a C# class called Foo and that is compiled into an assembly named FooLib.dll. Then, I write a Windows Service in C# that references FooLib.dll. When I deploy my Windows Service using InstallUtil.exe: a) do I have to explicitly tell it to reference my FooLib.dll? b) where does FooLib.dll get deployed if I mean to deploy it as a private assembly and not in the GAC?

  • Updating version of multiple components using 1 file in c#

    Hello, I have a solution with many components and each component has its own version file (AssemblyInfo.cs). Currently each file as the standard structure: [assembly: AssemblyVersion("1.0.0.0")] [assembly: AssemblyFileVersion("1.0.0.0")] I would like to use the file version as the component version and keep that independent but I would like to have the "Product Version" be the same for all the components. I would like to do that by having a file at the solution level that is used by all the projects to get that version embedded. Any suggestions Thanks Tony

  • Indirect load of type fails in PowerShell

    When invoking [System.Configuration.ConfigurationManager]::GetSection("MySection") from within a PowerShell prompt, it throws an exception because the assembly containing the type represented by "MySection" in the app config is unable to be loaded. However, I have previously loaded the assembly containing that type, and I am even able to instantiate the type directly using 'new-object'. How is the ConfigurationManager resolving types such that the assemblies already loaded into the PowerShell app domain are not visible to it?

    I see that a JSON serializer is present in the System.Web.Script.Serialization namespace, and is shipped in the System.Web.Extensions.dll assembly. Is this assembly distributed with the .NET framework v4.0 redistributable? Is it also guaranteed to be present on a user's machine if any edition of Visual Studio 2010 is installed?

Does anyone know what those are and how one can access them to test various code optimizations? While I am interested regardless, I also wanted to ask whether it is possible to access them from something higher than assembly (or with only a little assembly) via visual studio C++?

    I created an image of my system with macrium reflect freeware program and stored the image on an usb external hard drive. However the macrium reflect linux recovery disc on startup hangs up of the first three lines of instructions and therefore I cannot access the image on the usb external hard drive if I wish to recover my system. I have a Lenovo laptop with the Windows-7 Home Premium operating system. What can be done to ensure that the recovery disc will work?

  • Ubuntu 10.04 LTS - Dual monitor works only sometimes (ATI multi-desktop)

    I've been using my laptop with an external LCD monitor attached to it at work (Philips 201E). And at home with a different external monitor (Samsung 2032BW). I have an ATI graphics card (HD3450), with Ati Catalyst drivers enabled and I'm using the Single display desktop (Multi-Desktop) seeting. At work I have the external monitor on the left and laptop on the right, while at home the other way around. So when I switch between the two setups, I just needed to go to Ati Catalyst Control Center, change the order of the displays, change the resolution (Home - 1680x1050, Work - 1440x900), reboot and it was all fine. But since a while it doesn't work properly anymore: At home it still works fine. At work it doesn't work. Sometimes it works for some reason, after a few resolution/setting changes in ACCC and reboots... it's very strange and annoying. With the home monitor I can see the whole bootup process on both monitors (laptop + LCD) and it always just works fine. With the work monitor on the external LCD monitor I just see "No video input" until I get to the login screen, then it shows up there as well. But after login it will either: Flicker a few times, but then work OK. Or (more often) Flicker once and then go back to "No video input" again. I usually end up rebooting a few times until it works. Does anyone have any idea for fixing it?   • How can I mount an AES-128 encrypted DMG file using the NTFS file system under Windows XP?

    I found HFSExplorer, which can handle encrypted DMG files, but it only supports HFS, and the DMG I want to open is NTFS. I can't just use any image mounter since the DMG file is encrypted, and I don't want to need to copy it over to my main hard drive first. (The DMG is on an external hard drive.) If copying it is the only way, however, I'd be willing to settle for that, but I'd rather just leave it on the external hard drive in an encrypted form.

    I am trying to get my locally assigned IP address from Ubuntu 10.04 LTS with ifconfig and what I'm getting is my external IP address (in other words, it's the same IP I see on whatismyip.com) When running ifconfig eth0, inet addr shows my external IP address instead of the local address. How do I get my local IP address ?
