• Rscript does not recognize setGeneric function

  I am trying to convert an R script into something that a client can run in batch mode. My code uses generic functions and one snippet which is near the beginning goes like: setGeneric("testInput", function(inputData, params = list()) standardGeneric("testInput")) I've been using R CMD BATCH and it works fine. However I couldn't find an easy way to make my script print the output on the console, so based on that (and suggestion that Rscript.exe is the "proper" way to run R batch files) I decided to switch to Rscript. However when running the very same .R file with Rscript I get the following: Error: could not find function "setGeneric" Execution halted I know there is probably a trivial reason behind this but I just cannot figure it out. Can someone please point me to where the mistake is? Thanks so much in advance. Cheers!

  i had once had a very simple one or two line code that would start a function with its own thread and continue running until application closed, c++ console app. lost the project it was in, and remember it was hard to find. cant find it online now. most example account for complicated multithreading situations. but i just need to open this one function in its own thread. hopefully someone knows what im talking about, or a similar solution. eg. start void abc in its own thread, no parameters

That is, using function arguments as local variables. Both are placed on the stack, and pretty much identical performance wise, I'm wondering about the best-practices aspects of this. I feel like an idiot when I add an additional and quite redundant line to that function consisting of int numCopy = num, however it does bug me. What do you think? Should this be avoided?

  I am interested to know what a proper x (vector matrix or data frame) input looks like. I am currently using the function in two different sorts of matrices. However, I am not sure how R would interpret my data the way I intend. I will explain the types of matrix by example. Type 1 Gene1 Gene2 Gene3 sample1 sample2 Type 2 Sample1 Sample2 Sample3 gene 1 gene 2 gene 3 Are either of these formats valid x parameters? I input both of types of matrices and get some results, but without knowing whether or not this a proper use the function, these are just random numbers. Thank you for your time.   The point is every time I try to run a C++ code in XCode 5 (the file s "File.cpp") xcode returns this: duplicate symbol _main ld: 1 duplicate symbol for architecture i386 clang: error: linker command failed with exit code 1 (use -v to see invocation) And it only returns the error, when I got the following function whatever it contains: int main() { } I checked the folder, which XCode points to (where it says the duplicates are placed), but didn't find anything though.   I know this. Calling C function from C++: If my application was in C++ and I had to call functions from a library written in C. Then I would have used //main.cpp extern "C" void C_library_function(int x, int y);//prototype C_library_function(2,4);// directly using it. This wouldn't mangle the name C_library_function and linker would find the same name in its input *.lib files and problem is solved. Calling C++ function from C??? But here I'm extending a large application which is written in C and I need to use a library which is written in C++. Name mangling of C++ is causing trouble here. Linker is complaining about the unresolved symbols. Well I cannot use C++ compiler over my C project because thats breaking lot of other stuff. What is the way out? By the way I'm using MSVC

  Hi guys, I'm having a web game loaded in orkut application via iframe so there are the orkut iframe and mine iframe inside the xml. Everything is ok, but now I need to have a button for inviting some friends and wall posts from some features. I didn't find a way for including the orkut javascript in the game's code so the first thing that pops into my mind was to call a custom function in the xml by using: window.parent.myFunction(); but it gives me error: permission denied. I've tried some other ways of reaching that function but the error is the same. Does anybody know a way of doing that or this can't be done ?
