• Just in time debugger is popping up when debugging service client

  I have created as WCF service and hosted in IIS . This service is calling from another web application. When I am trying to debug the service calling event in the web application, the Just-in-Time debugger is popping up. It is running fine in the normal mode. Only in the debug mode the service is not running and JIT debugger is popping up also Why it happens? How to debug the service call in this scenario?   My application keeps all Java Date's in UTC. Parsing them is easy, but when I print them out, the display shows the computer's local time zone, and I want to show it as UTC. Example code: String sample = "271210 200157 UTC"; SimpleDateFormat dfmt = new SimpleDateFormat("ddMMyy HHmmss Z"); Date result = dfmt.parse(sample); System.out.printf("%tc\n", result); the result is Mon Dec 27 15:01:57 EST 2010 What I want is Mon Dec 27 20:01:57 UTC 2010 Clearly I have to set some Locale and TimeZone values, but I don't see where to put them.   Hello I am using ibatis and C#. i get a result from a select query that has CreatedDate as one of the field. The Datatype of CreatedDate in Mysql is Date. I assign the result set of the select query to a Ilist< DeliveryClass **. Here the DeliveryClass CreatedDate as DateTime. When i run the application, i get **Unable to convert MySQL date/time value to System.DateTime. What could be the problem?

• "lock request time out period exceeded" Error When Trying to See DB Hierarchies

  I have a DB that I can run basic queries (albeit much slower than normal) off of. When I try to see the hierarchy trees for tables, views, or procedures in SSMS Object Explorer, I get the "lock request time out period exceeded". My Report Server reports that run off of objects in this DB are no longer completing. Jobs associated with procedures stored on this DB also do not run. I tried using sp_who2 to find and kill all connections on the DB. This has not solved the problem. What is going on here? How can I resolve this?

• ncurses - expect: sleep executes at wrong time

  I have some ncurses apps that I need to automate to test repeatedly. I am placing the "sleep" command between "send" commands. However, what i see is that all the sleep's are executed in the beginning before the screen loads. expect concatenates the sends (I see that at the screen bottom during sleep) then issues them together. I have tried sending all keys with "send -s" or "send -h". That marginally helps. I've replaced "-f" on line 1 with "-b" - again a tiny difference. Why isn't "sleep" pausing at the right time. Incidentally, my programs have a getc() loop, so i can't use "expect" command. • Rails Load Data into Application every time a New User is Created

  Hi I am trying to figure out the "right" way to do this. In my application every time I create a new user I want to have specific data loaded into an associated table. The associated table is a different preset lists. So a User has many lists and those lists have many items. Some of those Items I want to be loaded when the User is created. I really don't know how to go about doing this but I am guessing something like: create User after_create: create Lists (need already existing data for the list names) after_create List then populate Items table with existing data for these Lists. Should I be using seed data for this? Is that alright for production and if so how exactly would I go about doing that. Any guidance or other recommendations are greatly appreciated.

I had all three working with the Makefile when they were in C, but then switched one of them to java... is there a way to compile all 3 at once with the same makefile?   Hi, In order to Unit-Test a feature, I need to fake DateTime.Now. Something like: SupposeNowIs(new DateTime(..)); I can either use a third library that does it, or write my own little class. What do you recommand? Do you know any good library for this purpose? How would you fake time in C#? By changing DateTime.Now? (I suppose it's read only?). Thank you!

  Hi! all, I was trying to write a udp server who send an instance of a file to multiple clients.Now suppose any how I manage to know the address of those client statically(for the sake of simplicity) and now I want to send this packet to these addresses.So how exactly I need to fill the sockaddr structure to contain the address of these clients.I am taking an array of sockaddr structure(to contain client address) and trying to send at each one them at a time.Now problem is to fill the individual sockaddr structure to contain the client address. I was trying to do something like that sa[1].sin_family = AF_INET; sa[1].sin_addr.s_addr = htonl(INADDR_ANY);//should'nt I replace this INADDR_ANY with client ip?? sa[1].sin_port = htons(50002); Correct me if this is not the correct way.   Hello, I would ideally like to be able to add (very repetitive) C/C++ code to my actual code, but at compile time, code which would come from say, the stdout of a python script, the same way one does with macros. For example, let's say I want to have functions that depend on the public attributes of a given class, being able to just write the following in my C++ code would be a blessing: generate_boring_functions(FooBarClass,"FooBarClass.cpp") Is that feasible using conventional means? Or must I hack with Makefiles and temporary source files? Thanks.

• Compile C++ from VS08/10 without Run Time Library / MFC

  Are there settings I can adjust in Visual Studio so that it does not compile with any run time library or MFC. I started learning C++ to get away from C#'s .Net, and this is just as bad. When I execute the program in a Windows XP virtual machine I get an error. I can compile without the dependencies in Code::Blocks, but I'm more familiar with VS, and prefer many of it's features over those of Code::Blocks. If you know of to get past this, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

  I am processing a file full of unix time strings. I want to convert them all to human readable. The output I get is Thu Jan 1 00:00:00 1970 for every line. I think the line breaks are being picked up and that is why it is not working. Any ideas? I'm using Mac OSX is that makes any difference.

  Context: I'm trying to improve the values returned by the iPhone CLLocationManager, although this is a more generally applicable problem. The key is that CLLocationManger returns data on current velocity as and when it feels like it, rather than at a fixed sample rate. I'd like to use a feedback equation to improve accuracy v=(k*v)+(1-k)*currentVelocity where currentVelocity is the speed returned by didUpdateToLocation:fromLocation: and v is the output velocity (and also used for the feedback element). Because of the "as and when" nature of didUpdateToLocation:fromLocation: I could calculate the time interval since it was last called, and do something like for (i=0;i<timeintervalsincelastcalled;i++) v=(k*v)+(1-k)*currentVelocity which would work, but is wasteful of cycles. Especially as I probably want timeintervalsincelastcalled to be measured as 10ths of a second. Is there a way to solve this without the loop ? i.e. rework (integrate?) the formula so I put an interval into the equation and get the same answer as I would have by iteration ?

  Hi I have a video playing on my page. I want to show and hide some div's when the video reaches a certain point. Lets say hide something on 10th second and show it again on 20th second. I can easily do it in HTML5 with video tag and currentTime attribute but for IE I have to create the same functionality and I think with flash based videos (from YouTube or something like that). Is there a way to detect the current time of a video playing on my website, embeded from YouTube, Metacafe or any other video sharing site? I know I could detect it in flash and make it run some JavaScript function but I don't have flash nor have the skills to do it in AS3. Is it possible to do it from JavaScript level or does any video sharing website out there provides this kind of functionality for their videos?

So I'll have to do some kind of find and replace throughout my code to replace each occurrence of "Department". Is there any way to call the .Include() method in a safe manner, so I get compile time checking for all the entity names being referenced?
