• What are the different ways of making a Joomla! website mobile friendly?

  I am involved in the development of a number of Joomla! websites and we would like to make these websites mobile friendly. I have done a bit of searching online and I can't seem to find any standard way of doing this. I have have come across a few Joomla! extensions that claim to make themselves mobile friendly for this device or that device. However, I am weary to just start trying these out. Do any of you know of standard ways to make a Joomla! site mobile friendly?

• (Joomla 1.6) Template position descriptions don't refresh

  I want to change a description of a template position, so when I go to Admin-Extensions-Module Manager I see a different description of a module position in the position list when I edit a module. However, when I change (for instance) the template 'beez_20' and want to rename the name of the position 'debug', I change the description (TPL_BEEZ_20_POSITION_DEBUG) in the language file 'languages\en-GB\en-GB.tpl_beez_20.sys.ini' to something different, say 'Abracadabra'. However, the changes don't appear in the position list and I can find no reference whatsoever of how or when the ini files are read or maybe cached. Does anyone has a clue?

• I have to add Weather extension in my gnome3 toolbar

  I want to add a weather extension to my gnome3 toolbar but I cant get anything working. I am using ubuntu 12.10 with gnome3. I tryed to add this sudo add-apt-repository ppa:webupd8team/gnome3 sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install gnome-shell-extensions-weather but the last command doest work it says that it cant locate such file. I installed this https://launchpad.net/weather-indicator. But I cant seem to get it to show on the gnome toolbar. It only shows here http://img32.imageshack.us/img32/4108/weatherhl.png. Thanks for help!

• game is playing but broken graphics

  I installed Steam on Lubuntu and wanted to play dota2 (it has source engine) and it sayed i need a 3dts driver or something but i installed it alredy. I can start dota now, but when i start a game it is not... displaying correctly. For example when i pick a hero the 3d modell is covered in some kind of a lasershow and the map...... i looked around a bit think it is because of the drivers and i should have mesa 9. Steam can show the system specs and it says that i have nouveau Gallium 0.4 on NVAA as driver and 3.0 Mesa 10.0.0-devel (git-1100093 saucy-oibaf-ppa) as driverversion and OpenGL 3.0 i am a noob on linux and need step by step guides please

• How to switch from Apache 2.0 Handler to FastCGI on Ubuntu Zend Server?

  I can't deploy/manage my Joomla websites On Ubuntu 12.04 Zend Server PHP 5.3.14 due to permissions during Joomla installation/J! extensions installation. All files are unwriteable. Only CHMOD 777 will help but of course it's not resolving the problem due to security issues. I think it's because cgi-fcgi is not shipped with Zend Server (only with Zend Server for Windows) Or maybe there is different solution how to make it work? • When is it appropriate to use colour in a command-line application?

  Currently I have a command-line application in C called btcwatch. It has a -C option that it can receive as an argument that compares the current price of Bitcoin with a price that was stored beforehand with -S. Example output with this option is: $ btcwatch -vC # -v = verbose buy: UP $ 32.000000 USD (100.000000 -> 132.000000) sell: UP $ 16.000000 USD (100.000000 -> 116.000000) The dilemma is whether to use colour for the UP or DOWN string (green and red, respectively). Most command-line applications I know of (apart from git) stay away from colour in their output. In my desire for btcwatch to look and be quite "standard" (use of getopt, Makefiles, etc), I'm not sure if colour would look out of place in this situation.

• Staying concentrated during small pauses [migrated]

  My workflow includes some steps that make me wait for 0.5 to 2 minutes to complete: long remote git operations, creating / rebooting an instance in the cloud, etc. It's safe to assume that these operations cannot be made any faster. The resulting delays are the biggest flow-breakers for me. These are too long to just sit and stare at the progress indicators, but too short to take a walk and grab a coffee. Temptation to check some websites is big, and it's often a road to 20-30 minutes of procrastination + the time to get into the flow again. What are your coping strategies?

• xdebug 2.2.1 installed but not working with cgi

  I've installed (via pecl) xdebug. It is installed (as phpinfo() output indicates), but it doesn't seems to work with CGI (with CLI it works). I've restarted apache, without result. Any ideas? • Continuing to code on large projects

  I am a hobbyist programmer, and I've started many medium - sized projects to work on just by myself. These include games, a raytracer, physics simulations etc. By the time these projects get to a certain size (around 5000 lines), I begin to slow down in adding features to the program. This is not because of a lack of ideas of what to implement in a program, but rather a struggle in how to go about it. In particular, I'm afraid of breaking what I already have working in order to implement a new feature. I've tried using version control like Git and Subversion, but these seem unnecessary when you are a one man team. I simply have a folder of "versions" of my program, one for each major change I make. How do I keep coding past this 5000 line mark? What about the 50000 line mark?

• Needs management tool for .java files

  When I open the src file in the project folder in Package Explorer in Eclipse, it says the following: Error retrieving content description for resource '/GuiAdd/src/GuiAdd.Java.' Now, the directories of the source projects shown in Eclipse Package explorer doesn't always have the source file to link to, causing this message. I need a way to sync the folders in the correct directory without overwriting the newest ones. Some source files I project files of the root which the Package explorer links to may be the correct versions but other source files in the root may not have the latest source or any source. I am not using svn/git or other depository programs.

• How to debug slow session start of Gnome 3?

  After Upgrade from 11.10 to 12.04, the login process of Gnome 3 is extremely slow (It takes in the order of 60 seconds when it was in the order of a few seconds before the upgrade (Harddisk is a SSD!)). Running "top" in a VT shows that gnome-shell is producing about 90% CPU load while dbus-daemon is taking roughly 10%. The moment when CPU-load of gnome-shell drops to normal levels (around 2-3%) corresponds to the time the login process is terminated and the desktop is displayed. De-activating the four gnome-shell extensions (Alternative Status Menu, Quit Button, Remove Accessibility, system-monitor) that I have installed does not have any effect on session start up time. Login to Gnome classic does not show the slow session start. The system logs do not show anything suspicious. Thus, what is the best way to identify the underlying problem?

• Macro to Add using System.Linq

  I have Visual Studio 2010 setup to remove and sort settings on save with the Power Commands extensions. This is great, but sometimes it removes the using System.Linq at the top. I also find myself scrolling to the top to add the using when I first add System.Linq.   Lorsque l'on débute l'apprentissage d'OpenGL et des shaders (et même ensuite), on est vite confronté au problème du débogage, soit parce que le programme s'arrête brusquement, soit parce que le résultat obtenu ne correspond pas à ce que l'on attend. Traditionnellement, on utilise la fonction glGetError, mais elle est encore trop souvent "oubliée" par les développeurs et elle donne finalement assez peu d'informations. Heureusement, cette problématique a été prise en compte dans les dernières spécifications d'OpenGL avec l'ajout de nouvelles extensions pour le débogage.   I've been using Linux+Plesk Virtual Server as a web server for a while, but I want to give a try on doing it manually, so my question is: I'll have a server which is: 80GB HDD, 4GB RAM, 1TB Bandwith, 1 Dedicated IP. And I use the following things on my Virtual nowadays: Mail server DNS server Apache + PHP 5.5 + MySQL FTP SSH My question is, without Plesk, can I achieve manually all those functionalities -know that I am not a terminal pro-, actually upgrading some of them to look like that with ubuntu server?: Mail server (with a nice webmail included) DNS server nginx + PHP 5.5 + MySQL + MongoDB FTP + SFTP SSH GIT Server Which ubuntu server should I chose? [EDIT] I almost forgot, I'd like to know how much Bandwith and CPU is using each of my webapps (one per domain usually), and the overall (not just from the webapps, but also mail, dns, etc...) ... usually Plesk does that for me, and I don't know how to measure that without it!

• Sortie de Joomla! 3.0.0, responsive design, installation simplifiée et nouveau module de statistiques

  Voilà qui est fait, six mois après la sortie de Joomla! 2.5 : la version 3. Tout d'abord, un mot sur le release cycle : la version 2.5 est une LTS (long term support), pas la 3.0. Cette dernière permet de casser pas mal de choses et ne sera donc pas supportée à long terme : il faudra attendre la 3.5 pour cela (au rythme d'une version mineure tous les six mois). La 2.5 sera supportée jusqu'à la sortie de la 3.5, au moins : il est toujours sûr de l'utiliser, elle sera toujours supportée? mais ne verra pas d'évolution technique. Avec la sortie de cette version 3.0, par contre, c'est le support de la vieillissante 1.5 qui est arrêté. La migration de la 2.5 vers la 3.0 devrait se passer sans heurts, sauf en cas d'utilisation intensive d'extensions (quelques modifications...

• Comparisons of Javascript 'data grids'?

  I've found plenty of questions between here and StackExchange of people asking for the 'best' data grid / data table, or one that has a particular feature, and plenty of lists out there (of various ages) listing the various data grid implementations ... but is anyone aware of any matrix of what features the various solutions implement? (eg, allow shift-click to select multiple; support checkboxes for selection; can update a regular table in-place; allow editing of cells; support websql or indexeddb for local caching; which browsers they support; infinite scroll; etc.) There's a generic 'javascript framework' comparison on wikipedia, which would be the sort of thing I'm looking for, but it doesn't go into detail on data grids. (which makes sense, as so many are extensions, not core features of those frameworks, and in the case of jQuery, there's lots of 'em.)

  I just upgraded to Ubuntu 12.04 and Thunderbird 13.0.1. I had 2 accounts earlier in Thunderbird: [email protected] [email protected] I also had another account on SeaMonkey: [email protected] which I imported into Thunderbird. Now the account order I want is: [email protected] [email protected] [email protected] but it shows: [email protected] [email protected] [email protected] I couldn't find any option in Thunderbird to sort them as I want. I came across a 3rd party extension but I avoid using such extensions. Is there any other way this can be done?
