    After downloading Visual Studio 2005 SP1 and Visual Studio 2005 Upgrade for Vista to install Visual Studio 2005 on Windows 7, when I tried to intall Visual Studio 2005 SP1, I got this error message: The up patch cannot be installed by the windows installer service because the program to be upgraded is missing, or the upgrade patch may update a different version of program. Verify that the program to be updated exist on your computer and you have correct upgrade patch I have saved VS80sp1-KB926601-X86-ENU (1) and VS80sp1-KB932232-X86-ENU on the D: drive. What should I do to install Visual Studio 2005 on Windows 7?

  • Windows 8 asks DotNet 3.5 to install DotNet 3.5

    While trying to install some tools in Windows 8, it showed me a nice message saying it requires DotNet framework. Well, it's fine. But the bad part is I have offline installers for v2.0 and v3.5. While I'm trying to install those installers it shows me the same message as it shows above. I can't consider the web installer, because I don't want to download around 100MB. The file I have works fine for other versions like Windows 7 or XP. Any fixes?

    I have Windows 7 Professional SP1..64bit... and yes windows genuinely activated. I want to install Windows Media player 12 and it seems i require the "Media Feature pack"... I can't seem to find a good install. I've tried at least 4 of them.. both 64bit and x86.   • Install Oracle Drive and TNS for Windows XP?

    I am building a box with Windows XP with some applications. One application requires connection to an Oracle database on remote. I have installed OracleXEClient.exe from Oracle download. The installation does install "Oracle Provider for OLE DB" driver. My problem is that I still cannot make connections to the remote Oracle db. The test I have done is to create a UDL file with Oracle provider OLE DB connection. The error message is: --------------------------- Microsoft Data Link Error --------------------------- Test connection failed because of an error in initializing provider. ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified I think I may miss TNSNAMEC.ora in the box. I can find this file from another box where Oracle connection works fine. I am not sure what package I should install (from Oracle) so that the default TNSNAEMES.ora will be installed with related files and setup path for accessing the TNS file?

  • IIS will not install on Windows 7 Pro 64 bit

    I have a new PC running Windows 7 Professional 64 bit. I have an issue installing IIS - it goes through the install process, but at the end tells me "not all components could be installed", with no additional information given. There is no sign of an error in the install log or in event viewer. However, at this point, IIS is installed and working! I can run IIS manager, browse to localhost and see the default page, but at the next reboot the system rolls back and th einstall vanishes. I have tried installing II using the Windows Components section in Add/Remove Programs, I have also tried the Web Platform Installer and using the command line, all with the same end result.

My server is running Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard Edition. UPDATE: I tried installing the prerequisites one by one using PowerShell. Now I have errors on RPC over Http proxy: Installation of [Web Server (IIS)] Tracing Failed, Attempt to install tracing failed with error code 0x80070643. Fatal error during installation. Searching about the error code doesn't tell me much more than something went wrong when trying to update windows. Installing Http Tracing alone also doesn't make any difference.

  • On Windows how can I prevent login until a software package has been installed?

    I have an MSI which is configured for machine level installation because it is a device driver. I can deploy it via Active Directory and Group Policy just fine. However on a newly booted machine a user can login before the installation has a chance to complete and I get an warning in the event log saying it couldn't complete and will be tried at next reboot. How can I make the login screen wait for the installation to be completed?

  • Allowing users to install fonts in Windows 7 (through GPO)

    Hi, This is somewhat related to my previous question, http://serverfault.com/questions/48155/why-do-installed-fonts-disappear-after-reboot. Having got the font install issue sorted out under XP just fine, recently we've got a Windows 7 workstation and I've created a special GPO for it. Initially it was UAC that was demanding administrative access to C:\windows\fonts despite the fact the policy dictates that directory is writable (as is the relevant registry entries, on XP anyway). The issue now though is that when I try to copy a font or hit install it claims that the font "does not appear to be a valid font". This happens with every type of font as well. Is there some new and special consideration when allowing these changes on Windows 7? Any input would be appreciated. Many thanks, Doug

  • Sql Server 2005 Service Pack 3 does not install

    I'm trying to install SP3 on an install of Sql Server 2005 running on Server 2003 32 bit. When I run the installer it doesn't seem to recognize that I have SQL Server 2005 installed. The dialog box that asks what features should be updated doesn't show any by default. More troubling, it doesn't allow me to check any of those boxes to update features like Database Services or Reporting Services. When I select one of these services, the "Status" box says "Not Valid".     I am on Ubuntu, Apache 2.2 Installed the fcgi via apt-get then removed it via apt-get remove. Installed mod-ruby configuration I added to Apache: LoadModule ruby_module /usr/lib/apache2/modules/mod_ruby.so RubyRequire apache/ruby-run <Directory /var/www> Options +ExecCGI </Directory> <Files *.rb> SetHandler ruby-object RubyHandler Apache::RubyRun.instance </Files> <Files *.rbx> SetHandler ruby-object RubyHandler Apache::RubyRun.instance </Files> I have a file in the www direcoty with puts 'baba' I have other files in that directory, all accessible via Apache. Test file has been chmod 777 In the browser I get 403.     I need to setup OpenOffice in a linux box that will never have X installed. Every time I run the setup program of the OpenOffice installer it complains that the system does not have an X Terminal. I am using OOo_3.1.0_LinuxIntel_install_wJRE_en-US.tar. I have done this headless install for version 2.4, but we are having some performance issues and we will like to test the 3.1 version. The rpm -i *rpm does not work, since it is also looking for libgnome inside it. We are trying to install the system in a CenOS 5.1. Any ideas are welcome?

Also i can't use system-install-packages in terminal. When i double click rpm package it open as archive.   • How to install two packages that write the same file

    Sirs, a conundrum. I have two packages that each create /usr/bin/ffprobe. One of them is ffmpeg from the Deb Multimedia repository, while the other is ffmbc 0.7-rc5 built from source. The hand-rolled one is business-critical, and we used to just install it from source wherever it was necessary. I can only assume it would clobber the ffmpeg file, and there were never any ill effects. In theory, it should be acceptable for our ffmbc package to overwrite the file from the ffmpeg package. Is there any easy way to reconcile this?

  • Windows XP SP3 install keeps rebooting

    The base fonts on my Windows XP Pro were corrupted. A suggested fix was to "install" XP again, essentially just to overwrite the WINNT folder hence resetting all the fonts. I downloaded the XP Pro SP3 installer from our corporate MSDN account, ran it straight from the HDD and at the very end it crashed and rebooted. Now it just keeps rebooting over and over after saying "Continuing installation...." I can't boot in Safe Mode, I can't get to a command prompt or anything. I'm out of ideas. Formatting the drive and performing a fresh install is NOT an option.

    I wanted to install adobe reader on my ubuntu 10.10(Maverick Meerkat).I have downloaded the file and copied it on my desktop.I had then browsed to the desktop directory through command line terminal.   • Does VMware_ThinApp_4.0.3_169725.msi contain Trojan.Win32.Vapsup in it? [closed]

    Today I ran a full system scan using Online Armor++. It detected Trojans in the installer. I have had this installer on the computer for many months and I do not remember if I ever installed it on this PC or not. For some reason I unpacked the installer with 7zip though. I was probably going to attempt to make it portable. Anyway so I had the installer in a folder, and another folder next to it with all of the installers files unpacked. The VMwareVS.cab file that was extracted from the installer, also had its files extracted into another folder. This was all done many months ago. OA++ did not detect the installer itself as as Trojan VMwareVS.cab, but it did detect 4 of the files that I had unpacked as Trojans. Here are the details of what the scan detected on my PC today. Note: I uploaded these files to VirusTotal....the Ikarus and A-squared engines(the engines from Online Armor++) are not detecting anything. But some of the other engines are detecting the same Trojan that OA++ detected(Trojan.Win32.Vapsup).     I would like to install a wiki on my server so I can let people I know to edit documents. So, I don't wan it to be as open as wikipedia. I would like something as google docs (the thing is google docs doesn't handle images and tables on documents very well), doesn't have to be in real time as google does it. The first thing I noticed looking over internet there are different solutions. Maybe what I'm looking for is the easiest one to install. If a want to use the wiki technology don't have to much time investing on errors. Thanks for your opinions
