• Dynamically changing the component of webpage

  Hi, I am working for a project on disaster management sponsered by World Bank, under this project i have assigned work on CMS. and my senior has asked me to make a ASP.NET webpage where those logged with administrator privilege will be able to edit the page. like:- <div id="mydiv"><pre>+++++++MY CONTENT+++++++++++++++++++</pre></div> now if if the admin clicks on mydiv he should be able to edit the pre contents. for this i got many options such as WYSIWYG editors (but they work on textboxs only and further more they cant save the data back to server replacing the previous content) then I came to know about Webparts , but its editing capabilities was so low that my plan for implementing a WYSIWYG editor went in vain. so I m seeking help from u all is their any way to achieve the motive, it would be better if u can suggest something like incorporating WYSIWYG into webpartmanager editor...   I have this XSLT: <xsl:strip-space elements="*" /> <xsl:template match="math"> <img class="math"> <xsl:attribute name="src">http://latex.codecogs.com/gif.latex?<xsl:value-of select="text()" /></xsl:attribute> </img> </xsl:template> Which is being applied to this XML (notice the line break): <math>\text{average} = \alpha \times \text{data} + (1-\alpha) \times \text{average}</math> Unfortunately, the transform creates this: <img class="math" src="http://latex.codecogs.com/gif.latex?\text{average} = \alpha \times \text{data} + (1-\alpha) \times&#10;&#9;&#9;&#9;&#9;&#9;\text{average}" /> Notice the whitespace character literals. Although it works, it's awfully messy. How can I prevent this?

• Get name and value from the input tag

  Before you say "oh no, not again" here I'm stating my case. I'm parsing part of HTML output and the only thing I'm interested in is name and value attributes of each <input/ tag. HTML is actually HTML fragment, may not be well-formed. I don't have DOM or HTML parser and I don't try to parse nested elements anyway. The problem is that I don't know the order or number of attributes so it could be <input name="foo" value="boo"/> or <input type="hidden" name=foo> or <input id=blah value='boo' src="image.png" name="foo" type="img"/>. Is there a single regular expression that would get me values of name and value attribute in predictable order? I wouldn't have asked the question if I could assume that name attribute always precedes value but unfortunately this is not the case

• ASP.NET MVC2 - Trim white space from form submits before server-side validation?

  If I add a validation attribute: public class ProductDownloadListModel { //xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx [Required] [StringLength(17)] public string PSN { get; set; } public DateTime PsnExpirationDate { get; set; } public DataTable Downloads { get; set; } } and the user enters a 17-character string but includes white space on the end, I get a validation error because the string is greater than that specified by the [StringLength(17)] attribute. How can I prevent this? I'd prefer not to have to have javaScript trim the string before submits.

• Is this a good approach to execute a list of operations on a data structure in Python?

  I have a dictionary of data, the key is the file name and the value is another dictionary of its attribute values. Now I'd like to pass this data structure to various functions, each of which runs some test on the attribute and returns True/False. One approach would be to call each function one by one explicitly from the main code. However I can do something like this: #MYmodule.py class Mymodule: def MYfunc1(self): ... def MYfunc2(self): ... #main.py import Mymodule ... #fill the data structure ... #Now call all the functions in Mymodule one by one for funcs in dir(Mymodule): if funcs[:2]=='MY': result=Mymodule.__dict__.get(funcs)(dataStructure) The advantage of this approach is that implementation of main class needn't change when I add more logic/tests to MYmodule. Is this a good way to solve the problem at hand? Are there better alternatives to this solution?

  hi, I develop a web application it is working fine in local. When i upload the site in online through CuteFTP it is showing the error like this... Description: An application error occurred on the server. The current custom error settings for this application prevent the details of the application error from being viewed remotely (for security reasons). It could, however, be viewed by browsers running on the local server machine. Details: To enable the details of this specific error message to be viewable on remote machines, please create a tag within a "web.config" configuration file located in the root directory of the current web application. This tag should then have its "mode" attribute set to "Off". Notes: The current error page you are seeing can be replaced by a custom error page by modifying the "defaultRedirect" attribute of the application's configuration tag to point to a custom error page URL. please help me i place the but even though it is not working it is giving same error. • Having trouble applying style to SVG using JavaScript upon object creation

  Hi, I have a function which creates an SVG text object using JavaScript. As soon as the object is created, I want it to have the style attribute which in CSS would be text-anchor: left. Currently, it doesn't work. I have tried many variations, and I also read that when using styles in JavaScript you must remove any '-' dashes and format the attribute name in camel casing (is this true?). • jquery: .attr() fails for child element

  I'm going crazy staring at this. I need to change the attribute of an element, something which I have done many times before. But it fails. Now I can't even get jquery to show me the attribute that it has. Does it have to do with what is returned by find()? var c = new_photo_div.find('[class = photo]')[0]; alert(c); alert(new_photo_div.attr('class')); alert(c.attr('class')); The first alert correctly identifies the element: Object HTMLImageElement The second alert correctly gives me the class of new_photo_div.   Hi, I need to implement a HtmlHelper extension in my MVC project simply just to output some string but ONLY in the DEBUG mode, not in REALEASE. My first attempt would be: [Conditional("DEBUG")] public static string TestStringForDebugOnly(this HtmlHelper helper, string testString) { return testString; } But obviously that would give a compile error: "The Conditional attribute is not valid because its return type is not void." So my understanding is once you set [Condition] attribute, it doesnt allow to return anything? why? What is other way to implement this kind of function? anyone help would be much appreciated. • how does [<Literal>] differ from other constants in F#

  I am a bit confused by the Literal keyword and why it is necessary in F#. Reading the docs, it sounds to me that [<Literal>] is used to define a constant, however I am a bit confused how this constant differs from all other constants in F#.. Values that are intended to be constants can be marked with the Literal attribute. This attribute has the effect of causing a value to be compiled as a constant. When I think of a constant, I think of something which is immutable.... let x = "a" + "b" //this is a immutable value, its value is constant [<Literal>] let y = "a" + "b" //this is also a immutable value, but why is this a special constant? Is it because the 'normal' F# values are evaluated lazily and the [<Literal>] is not evaluated lazily..? is that what they mean with 'compiled as constant'..? or is there something else to it?

• minifying patched javascript files

  I'm writing a Rails app and I've partially integrated in this nice little patch to the in line ajax editor: http://inplacericheditor.box.re/ The problem is, on that page I have tinymce, prototype and scriptaculous included. In Firefox at least there's a big lag when all this stuff is loading. I was hoping to fix it by compressing the files so I checked out a plugin for rails called Smurf. It seemed to do what it was supposed to do nicely, but it choked on the little patch files that are included with the Ajax editor thing. THe patch files look like this: Object.extend(Ajax.InPlaceEditor.prototype, { handleAJAXFailure: function(transport) Alternatively, should I just be catching them instead of worrying about minfying them? I know I'm running on development and that Apache would maybe be handling serving the js files differently..It just seems like a lot of things to serve on one page.

• Java swing doesn't show changes to source

  I'm using Java Swing graphical editor with netbeans to make my project...but using it brings some limitations like I can't add to a jpanel an image,using java swing options. So i'll need to code it, implementing a new jPanel. My problem is that the code generated by the java swing graphical editor can't be edited so instead of adding the new JPanel code in the initComponents() section I'm doing it after this function is called in the constructor of my main JPanel. But any code I add is not recognized by the "Designer" which means that after making my coded objects I can't use them in the "Designer" and everything must be coded, which is a pain considering how much easier is previewing and moving elements in the "Designer" tool. How can I code what I want but steel appear in the "DEsigner"? Thx in advance

• What is so great about Visual Studio?

  In my admittedly somewhat short time as programmer, I have used many development environments on many platforms. Most notably, Eclipse/Linux, XCode/OSX, CLI/editor/Linux, VisualDSP/Blackfin/Windows and MSVC/Windows. (I used each one for several months) There are neat features in pretty much all of them. But somehow, I just can't find any in MSVC. Then again, so many people really seem to like it, so I am probably missing something here. So please tell me: What is so great about Visual Studio? Things I like: Refactoring tools in Eclipse Build error highlighting in XCode and Eclipse Edit-all-in-Scope in XCode Profiler in XCode Flexibility of Eclipse and CLI/editor Data plotting in VisualDSP Things I don't like Build error display in MSVC (not highlighted in code) Honestly, this is not meant to be a rant. Of course I am a Mac-head and biased as hell, but I have to use MSVC on the job, so I really want to like it.

  Here is the PNG file and what it looks like in a QWebView when accessed via http://sstatic.net/so/img/logo.png: When accessed via HTTP: <img src="http://sstatic.net/so/img/logo.png" width='250' height='61' /> When accessed via a resource: <img src="qrc:/images/logo.png" width='250' height='61' /> As you can see, the only modification was the src attribute of the image tag... why the drop in quality? Edit: The file is being shrunk via width: and height: in the style attribute, if that makes a difference. I updated the code.

Do I have to specify the alignment in extern declaration? • Printing contents of a dynamically created iframe from parent window

  I have a page with a list of links and a div which serves as a placeholder for the pages the links lead to. Everytime user clicks on a link an iframe is created in the div and its src attribute gets the value of the link href attribute - simple and clear, sort of external web pages gallery. What i do have a problem with is printing the contents of the iframe. To do this i use this code: function PrintIframe() { frames["name"].focus(); frames["name"].print(); } The issue seems to be that iframe is created dynamically by JQuery - when I insert an iframe right into the html code, the browser prints the external page all right. But with the same code injected by JavaScript nothing happens. I tried to use JQ 1.3 'live' event on "Print" link, no success. Is there a way to overcome this?
