• Put a task to the background with bash

  Hey guy, I know that you can start a background job with Bash doing foo &. However, the best way I know to put a foreground job to the background is to do Ctrl+z to pause it then bg 1 to resume it in the background. Is there a faster way? Some Ctrl+Something key combination I'm not aware of? Thanks!

• How do you get SharePoint back in sync when you change a user's sAMAccountName?

  I have observed on SharePoint 2010 that if you change the sAMAccountName of a user after the user has logged into a SharePoint site collection, the tp_Login field in the UserInfo table does not get updated. It still has the old user Id. While the user can log into SharePoint under the new account, these new logins do not update the table. I have code that looks at the SPUser.LoginName and this value appears to be the tp_Login field value which is now old. The fact that this value is old causes my code to fail. I suspect this behavior is identical in SharePoint 2007. Is there any way to force SharePoint to recognize the new sAMAccountName? I suspect that profile synchronization might help, but I would like for my solution to work with WSS 3.0 and SharePoint 2010 Foundation. I considered manually updating the database table, but I would like to stick with supported approaches.

• Conditionally format row based on cell value in Excel 2011 Mac

  I'm using Excel Mac 2011. I have read some of the other answers, but this question is different because I want to apply conditional formatting to an entire row when its cell in column B contains the value 'Y'. Simple conditional formatting just formats that one cell. Whenever the field at column B for any given row contains the value 'Y', I'd like to format that row. Using Mac Excel's so-called "classic" conditional formatting, I have this: I would really like to apply that to every row, but it just paints the entire sheet red (because $B$3 contains "Y"). I can't seem to figure out how to get the reference to whatever is in field B for this row in the rule.

• Two different sites, same IP, same top-level domain, on IIS 7.5 -- one works and the other displays HTTP 404 error

  I'm running a Windows 2008 R2 box with IIS 7.5 as the web server. On IIS, I have two websites: mysubsite1.mysite.com and mysubsite2.mysite.com. There is only one IP on the server and both sites share this IP. Here is how I have the bindings configured: mysubsite1.mysite.com works fine. However, mysubsite2.mysite.com gives me the following error: Not Found HTTP Error 404. The requested resource is not found. Now, if I change the Host name field for mysubsite1.mysite.com to blank and restart the web server, both sites work! The question is why is the host name field for the first site causing an HTTP 404 error for the second site when both sites' Host name fields are filled? I would appreciate any insight. Thank you.

  Hi, I’m working on a very simple timesheet for my work in Excel 2007 but have ran into trouble about calculate the hours and minutes between two time periods. I have a field: timestart which could be for example: 08:30 Then I have a field timestop which could be for example: 12:30 I can easy calculate the result myself which is 4 hours but how do I create a “total” table all the way down the cell that calculate the hours spend on each entry?   I am searching for a way to type a keyword in the start menu Search programs and files field and that it will return the application that match the keyword. An example will better explain this: Suppose that I want to start the powershell. Currently what I can type in the search field is power and the first item that appear is the 64bits powershell shortcut. Now suppose that I'd like ps to return powershell as the first item of the search list. I am getting this error, There are currently no logon servers available to service the logon request, when a machine on the domain is trying to be accessed from other machines from the network. • Any beat detection software for Linux?

  Amarok 2 can search through music collection using ID3v2 tag's 'bpm' field. That would be very nice to retag the entire music collection so I can find the 'mood' of the track I like. However I've not found any beat-detection software that could have helped me. Have you ever used one? CLI, preferably. Also I'm interested if there's anything alike for tagging FLACs with the same 'bpm' field. Thanks! :) P.S. I'm aware there's a nice moodbar feature, however it's useless for searching.

• What are the benefits of using conforming certificates?

  Recently, my web host started sending my mail client a self-signed root certificate with no field filled (everything says "Unknown") when connecting via SSL. I'm pretty sure this is not a good thing, but since it works, the tech support guy says it's fine. I'm not a certificate guru, so I'm turning to you people. What purpose do certificates serve? Is it really okay that the certificate has every field set to "Unknown"? I don't check certificates often, but I don't recall ever being sent a root one; what's the difference between a root certificate and, err, the other kind of certificate?

• How to get iTunes to recognize that certain ID3 tags have been removed from files?

  I use MusicBrainz Picard to manage the ID3 tags on my MP3 collection and iTunes for playing them and managing my iPod. I have Picard set to remove the Composer tag from any files that don't also contain the word "Classical" in the Genre tag. I've run Picard and it has removed the Composer tag from many of my files. However, iTunes keeps displaying the old value of the Composer field. I have tried right-clicking on the file to update, choosing "Get Info" and clicking OK. This has no effect on the Composer field when it has been removed entirely; it only refreshes the displayed value when it has been changed from one non-empty value to another. How can I get iTunes to stop showing the old values for tags that have been removed? Please note I don't want to lose other iTunes metadata such as ratings and play counts, so removing the files from the iTunes library and re-adding them is not an option.

  I'm trying to unset the "Server" field in response headers. I do this using Header unset Server, and that works fine for requests handled by mod_perl. However, for requests to /static I use Apache to serve static files. For some reason, when these files are loaded directly in the browser, the Server field is not removed. • Hiding a column from a pivot table without removing it from the chart

  I have a pivot table with two columns: number of users who visited a website (impressions) and number of users who registered on the site (regs). The rows are for dates. I want to visualize the percentage of users who registered after visiting the site. Thus, I have the number of users for each cell as a value field, displaying it as percentage of impressions. Generating a pivot chart from the table, impressions and regs are plotted over date as a percentage of impressions. This means there is one line at 100% for impressions (always 100% of itself) and the graph for registrations below that. I'd like to remove the line for impressions, but when I set a filter to do so, registrations vanish as well, since the column for impressions is filtered from the pivot chart as well, turning the value field invalid. How can I just show registrations as a percentage of impressions in the chart?
