• How to arrange labels in a flowlayout manner?

  How do I arrange some UILabels and/or UIButtons of a variable length? I just want to add them to a UITableViewCell and they should arrange in a left-to-right flow, much like lines of text in a paragraph. I only found possibilities to create lables with a fixed size and position using "initWithFrame:...". Same seems to be true for Interface Builder, as far as I can tell. Any solution is appreciated no matter if it's done in code or using a custom cell XIB-file.

• Reading from a file into an array in c

  My file contains a series of numbers (integer, float, integer, float ....), each written on a separate line. The numbers of columns are different from one line to another i.e. 1 2.45 3 1.75 5 3.45 7 2.55 9 3.25 6 1.75 4 3.55 6 2.55 9 2.45 The program should read the contents of the entire file and place the data into an array of type float with an entry for each line. The ValidateRect function should not be called if a portion of the update region must be validated before the next WM_PAINT message is generated.1 I've been programming with Win32 API for years, and I've never thought to call the ValidateRect function. A co-worker of mine today pointed that we were missing a call to ValidateRect, which fixed a bug we were having doing some high-speed animation using GDI (I know, an oxymoron) Can someone tell me whether or not a call to ValidateRect is neccessary after a BeginPaint/EndPaint pair? I have seen no documentation at MSDN that sheds light on this, and what documentation and examples I do see that you do not need to.

• Django store regular expression in DB which then gets evaluated on page

  Hi, I want to store a number of url patterns in my django model which a user can provide parameters to which will create a url. For example I might store these 3 urls in my db where %s is the variable parameter provided by the user: www.thisissomewebsite.com?param=%s www.anotherurl/%s/ www.lastexample.co.uk?param1=%s&fixedparam=2 As you can see from these examples the parameter can appear anywhere in the string and not in a fixed position. I have 2 models, one holds the urls and one holds the variables: class URLPatterns(models.Model): pattern = models.CharField(max_length=255) class URLVariables(models.Model): pattern = models.ForeignKey(URLPatterns) param = models.CharField(max_length=255) What would be the best way to generate these urls by replacing the %s with the variable in the database. would it just be a simple replace on the string e.g: urlvariable = URLVariable.objects.get(pk=1) pattern = url.pattern url = pattern.replace("%s", urlvariable.param) or is there a better way? • BCB: how to get the (approximate) width of a chartacter in a given TFont?

  It's a TMemo, not that that should make any difference. Googling suggests that I can use Canvas->TextWidth() but those are Delphi examples and BCB doesn't seem to offer this property. I really want something analgous to memo->Font->Height for width. I realize that not all fonts are fixed width, so a good estimate will do. All that I need is to take the width of a TMemo in pixels and make a reasonable guess at how many characters of the curretn font it will hold.

• why does InnoDB keep on growing without for every update?

  I have a table which consists of heavy blobs, and I wanted to conduct some tests on it. I know deleted space is not reclaimed by innodb, so I decided to reuse existing records by updating its own values instead of createing new records. But I noticed, whether I delete and insert a new entry, or I do UPDATE on existing ROW, InnoDB keeps on growing. Assuming I have 100 Rows, each Storing 500KB of information, My InnoDB size is 10MB, now when I call UPDATE on all rows (no insert/ no delete), the innodb grows by ~8MB for every run I do. All I am doing is I am storing exactly 500KB of data in each row, with little modification, and size of blob is fixed. What can I do to prevent this? I know about optimize table, but I cant do it because on regular usage, the table is going to be 60-100GB big, and running optimize will just stall entire server.

So added the timestamp: new Date().getTime() part. That fixed the IE issue. I want o know why this happens in jQuery? Do I need to include a timestamp parameter to URL to avoid caching in all jQuery Ajax calls?

• How to tell if there is an available thread in a thread pool in java

  I am trying to proccess a queue of tasks from a database table as fast as possible while also limiting the number of threads to process the tasks. I am using a fixed sized thread pool with Executors.newFixedThreadPool(N); I want to know if there is a way of knowing if the thread pool is full, by that I mean are there currently 50 threads running, if so then I'll wait for a thread to be available before starting a new one instead of sleeping the main thread. • Javascript not executing (I included format.js)

  I added format.js to my controller, yet I still cannot get the js in index.js.erb to execute when I view my index page. The only thing I can figure out is that it must be because of the model name. I had to add ActiveSupport::Inflector.inflections do |inflect| inflect.irregular 'business', 'businesses' end to my inflections.rb file...because my model is called Business. my views/js are located at views/businesses/* Please help before I pull my hair out! All I have in the index.js.erb file is: alert(1); Obviously the goal is that I will get an alert when I finally get the issue fixed, letting me know it is working.

  I have an HTML table which has incrementing numbers starting from 0 in its cells (left to right, up to bottom). I fixed in CSS the width and the height of the cells (40px width, 25px height, in my case). When the table becomes larger, the numbers inside it becomes large also (for example, the last number is 1266356). This causes the cells to be wider than I defined in the CSS, which expands the whole table accordingly. Instead, I would like the font of the numbers to be smaller to keep the width of the cell 40px. How can I accomplish this using CSS / Javascript / jQuery ?

• How to make an element slide with the viewport as it scrolls?

  I've Googled for this but must be using the wrong keywords. Basically I want to use the effect that Magento and now Stack Overflow uses. That is, there is an element in a column, and when you scroll down, it sticks to the top of the viewport. And once scrolled up again, it goes back into the normal page flow. This Ask A Question is a good page for example. Scroll down and watch the "How to Format" element come down (might need to make your viewport smaller if you have a large screen to see the effect). I've noticed it is setting position: fixed in the CSS. The JavaScript however is obfuscated. What's the easiest way to achieve this effect? Is there a jQuery plugin available?

  hello, i need your help with div positioning into a page. i have the below divs: - the header with z-index 10, position absolute, top 0, height 250px, width 100% - wrapper with margin 0 auto, width 990 and inside - the menu with z-index 8 - content to the right of the menu with z-index 9 so that i could scroll it below the header. the problem is that i want the menu to have fixed position and this is not possible cause it is not working for the x-axis as it gets outside wrapper. • Users lose access privileges every night

  Hi I'm having a problem with a WSS 3.0 instance where users keep losing their upload access rights every night. Users can always enter the Site involved and can browse lists, document libraries etc. just like normal, but they get an error when trying to upload documents, getting access denied error. This can be fixed by applying their access rights again in WSS, but it has to be done every morning, making that solution not feasible. This is a dedicated virtual server and no other applications running on it. Has anyone had a similar problem regarding WSS and Sharepoint access rights ?

  I have a requirement in which, i need to upload an excel file into SQL Server database. It is working well till this point. But sometimes i am getting excel file in such a way, that the first 2 rows and columns are empty rows. That is not even fixed every time. so the format of the table after upload is not as expected. It is assigning F1, F2 as column names for the table in SQL Server. It varies from file to file. I want to program it in such away so that the user can enter the row number and the column number from where the actual data is starting. So that while upload it should from line 3 and column 2. I don't know how to specify that row and column while uploading. Please help me to solve the same.

• How to reset persistent scrollbar position after div refresh in FF3?

  Hi, I'm experiencing a weird scrollbar issue. I'm building a page that uses jQuery and PHP to dynamically load images into a DIV sequentially. This DIV is a fixed height but uses a scrollbar for its variable width. The problem is that the scrollbar does not reset after a dynamic refresh of the DIV. So when the user scrolls and then refreshes with new content, the scroll bar position stays persistent instead of resetting back to the left. This seems to only happen in FF3. The scrollbar resets perfectly fine in Chrome, Safari, and IE8. For each refresh, the DIV is hidden, emptied, sized with CSS, then sequentially appended with images. I've tried resetting white-space: normal before the nowrap, playing around with overflow, and also jQuery's scrollLeft to no avail. It still behaves strangely in FF3, and only FF3. http://www.shadowshapes.com/uttdev/ Click a thumbnail, move the scrollbar then click another thumb. Thanks for any help!

• Git pull: error: Entry foo not uptodate. Cannot merge.

  I'm trying to update my repo from a remote branch and keep getting this error when I do a "git pull". I haven't made any local changes, and even if I have I don't need to keep them. I've tried: git reset --hard and I get the same problem The only thing that seems to work is deleting the offending file and try a git pull again. I've also tried "git stash" followed by a "git pull". No go. edit: using PortableGit-1.6.4-preview20090729 so any previous bugs with spurious errors should be fixed.

  Hi I'm having a hard time getting started to layout code for this problem. I have a fixed amount of random numbers, in this case 8 numbers. R[] = { 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 }; That are going to be placed in 3 sets of numbers, with the only constraint that each set contain minimum one value, and each value can only be used once. For example: R1[] = { 1, 4 } R2[] = { 2, 8, 5, 6 } R3[] = { 7, 4 } I need to loop through all possible combinations of a set R1, R2, R3. Order is not important, so if the above example happened, I don't need R1[] = { 4, 1 } R2[] = { 2, 8, 5, 6 } R3[] = { 7, 4 } NOR R1[] = { 2, 8, 5, 6 } R2[] = { 7, 4 } R3[] = { 1, 4 } What is a good method?

• Unrecognized libraries and functions

  I am working in Eclipse 3.7.2 on Ubuntu 12.04 with C++. I have read about a few instances where libraries were not being recognized and the majority said to update the Paths and Symbols but that hasn't fixed my issue. I have 2 projects open in my workspace, one of which is already a completed project that has implemented functions and libraries with no errors from Eclipse. However, when I try to implement some of the same functions or include the same libraries in the 2nd project Eclipse can't resolve them. For example, #include <string> #include <stdio.h> strstr(p, "<Project>"); The include statement will be accepted and stdio.h will be found but the strstr function is not resolved even though it works fine in the other project. Any ideas as to why this might be happening? Thanks.
