Attached the snapShot of Viual Studio, Enum that Contains Data: Just to brief about the above image, eLevelData is the IEnumerable variable, in which I have my data . Now I want to go to the data at index 4 or 5, but I don't want to use foreach loop. Any suggestions please. Thanks, Subhen

  • Best way to initialise / clear a string variable cocoa

    - by Spider-Paddy
I have a routine that parses text via a loop. At the end of each record I need to clear my string variables but I read that someString = @"" actually just points to a new string & causes a memory leak. What is the best way to handle this? Should I rather use mutable string vars and use setString:@"" between iterations?

  • How to tell if 2 arrays share the same element.

    - by Ommit
So this is a simpler form of my problem. Lets say I have 2 arrays. A= {1,2} and B={2,4,6}. If A and B share an element then delete that element from B. I know you can loop through and compare each element in A to each element in B, but there's got to be a better way!

  • Can first descendent be selected directly?

    - by Ben Huh
    I am currently using find() and first() method to select the first descendent element from each of the <div> elements that contains the parent class. But I find this quite cumbersome since find() method would produce a set of matched elements before the first element is being picked. The following is the skeleton of my code: HTML <div class=parent> <ul> <li>random characters</li> <li>random characters</li> <li>random characters</li> <li>random characters</li> </ul> </div> <div class=parent> <ul> <li>random characters</li> <li>random characters</li> <li>random characters</li> <li>random characters</li> </ul> </div> <div class=non-parent> <ul> <li>random characters</li> <li>random characters</li> <li>random characters</li> <li>random characters</li> </ul> </div> <div class=parent> <ul> <li>random characters</li> <li>random characters</li> <li>random characters</li> <li>random characters</li> </ul> </div> // .....the list continues Javascript $('.parent').each(function() { $(this).find('ul li').first().css('color', 'red'); // do other stuff within each loop }); I have seen people using $(".parent li:first") selector. But, because I am doing it in a loop, I am not sure how or whether if this could be done and would like some advice. Thanks.

  • how properly remove item from list

    - by dygi
// tmpClientList is List<Client> type if (txtboxClientName.Text != "") foreach (Client cli in tmpClientList) if (cli.Name != txtboxClientName.Text) tmpClientList.Remove(cli); Error: "Collection was modified; enumeration operation may not execute." How can i remove items from the list, in some simple way, without saving indexes of these items in another list or array, and removing them in another place in the code. Tried also RemoveAt(index) but it's exactly the same situation, modifying when loop runs.

  • How to use an adjacency matrix to determine which rows to 'pass' to a function in r?

    - by dubhousing
New to R, and I have a long-ish question: I have a shapefile/map, and I'm aiming to calculate a certain index for every polygon in that map, based on attributes of that polygon and each polygon that neighbors it. I have an adjacency matrix -- which I think is the same as a "1st-order queen contiguity weights matrix", although I'm not sure -- that describes which polygons border which other polygons, e.g., POLYID A B C D E A 0 0 1 0 1 B 0 0 1 0 0 C 1 1 0 1 0 D 0 0 1 0 1 E 1 0 0 1 0 The above indicates, for instance, that polygons 'C' and 'E' adjoin polygon 'A'; polygon 'B' adjoins only polygon 'C', etc. The attribute table I have has one polygon per row: POLYID TOT L10K 10_15K 15_20K ... A 500 24 30 77 ... Where TOT, L10K, etc. are the variables I use to calculate an index. There are 525 polygons/rows in my data, so I'd like to use the adjacency matrix to determine which rows' attributes to incorporate into the calculation of the index of interest. For now, I can calculate the index when I subset the rows that correspond to one 'bundle' of neighboring polygons, and then use a loop (if it's of interest, I'm calculating the Centile Gap Index, a measure of local income segregation). E.g., subsetting the 'neighborhood' of the Detroit City Schools: Detroit <- UNSD00[c(142,150,164,221,226,236,295,327,157,177,178,364,233,373,418,424,449,451,487),] Then record the marginal column proportions and a running total: catprops <- vector() for(i in 4:19) { catprops[(i-3)]<-sum(Detroit[,i])/sum(Detroit[,3]) } catprops <- as.data.frame(catprops) catprops[,2]<-cumsum(catprops[,1]) Columns 4:19 are the necessary ones in the attribute table. Then I use the following code to calculate the index -- note that the loop has "i in 1:19" because the Detroit subset has 19 polygons. cgidistsum <- 0 for(i in 1:19) { pranks <- vector() for(j in 4:19) { if (Detroit[i,j]==0) pranks <- append(pranks,0) else if (j == 4) pranks <- append(pranks,seq(0,catprops[1,2],by=catprops[1,2]/Detroit[i,j])) else pranks <- append(pranks,seq(catprops[j-4,2],catprops[j-3,2],by=catprops[j-3,1]/Detroit[i,j])) } distpranks <- vector() distpranks<-abs(pranks-median(pranks)) cgidistsum <- cgidistsum + sum(distpranks) } cgi <- (.25-(cgidistsum/sum(Detroit[,3])))/.25 My apologies if I've provided more information than is necessary. I would really like to exploit the adjacency matrix in order to calculate the CGI for each 'bundle' of these rows. If you happen to know how I could started with this, that would be great. and my apologies for any novice mistakes, I'm new to R!

  • Is there a way to get each row's value from a database into an array?

    - by Guyver
Say I have a query like the one below. What would be the best way to put each value into an array if I don't know how many results there will be? Normally I would do this with a loop, but I have no idea how many results there are. Would I need run another query to count the results first? <CFQUERY name="alllocations" DATASOURCE="#DS#"> SELECT locationID FROM tblProjectLocations WHERE projectID = '#ProjectName#' </CFQUERY>

  • In python, what does len(list) do?

    - by nsharish
My doubt is that if the len(list) calculates the length of the list everytime it is called or it returns the value of the builtin counter.I have a context where i need to check the length of list everytime in a loop, likelistData = [] for value in ioread(): if len(listData)=25: processlistdata() clearlistdata() listData.append(value) Should I check len(listData) every iteration, or can I have a counter for the length of the list.

  • Why isn't this infinite recursion? How does default variable initialization work in VB.NET?

    - by froadie
I just made an interesting mistake in my code: Dim endColumn As Integer = startColumn + endColumn - 1 The code was actually supposed to be: Dim endColumn As Integer = startColumn + numColumns - 1 The interesting thing is, I would think that this code should be recursive and loop indefinitely, as the initialization of endColumn sort of calls itself. However, it seems that the code just treats the uninitialized variable as a 0 and so I get startColumn + 0 - 1. What is happening here behind the scenes? When does a variable get assigned a default value?

  • Redirects in Glassfish (adding trailing slash)

    - by echox
Is it possible to add a trailing slash to the default context of an application? Example: http://www.uri.com/foo -> http://www.uri.com/foo/ I added the following redirect to the server properties: redirect_1: from=/foo url-prefix=/foo/ and this ends up in a loop... Several other configurations also didn't work :-/ I'm using glassfish v2.1-b60e.

  • Chrome not displaying a div

    - by Kyle Sevenoaks
Click here to see a simple example of what I want. It's really easy, but for some reason Google won't display the "subTotalCaption2" div. It's part of a foreach loop, if needed I can add other codes. There is nothing else in the rest of the css to mess with this, I have checked about 10 times. See it live at euroworker.no/order (add items to basket) In FF and Chrome. Thanks.

  • Works on debug but not release

    - by user146780
I have a thread that sets a value to true when it is done. Until then I wait: while(1) { if(done[0] == true) { break; } } This code works just fine in Debug but in Release it stays in the loop forever even though the debugger clearly says that it is true and not false. Why would this not work? Thanks
