• Can two users both control a third machine simultaneously using Synergy?

  I've been a Synergy user for some time now, as I use a PC on the left side of my Mac. My girlfriend and I both have our desks on each side of the other, and we'd like to know if it were possible for the both of us to control the PC in the middle, with our own separate mouse & keyboards. Here's a crude drawing of our setup (1) her pc (2) my pc (3) my mac Currently, 3 is running a synergy server, and 2 is running the client. But like I said, I'm wondering if there's a way for 1 & 3 to both control 2 with their own mouse and keyboard. I'd ~love~ to have it set up where we could go even farther, and have both of our mice & keyboards able to control all 3 computers at the same time, for moments when we need to click or press keys for each other. But that seems a little too much to ask! Any thoughts?

• How does a trackball reduce pain caused by RSI? [closed]

  I developed RSI (Repetitive Strain Injury) in my index fingers due excessive mouse clicking. I might consider a trackball as many people suggested. But how does trackball help? I can see it get 2 buttons and a ball which require some fingers to operate on. Will I RSI while I click on the buttons with other healthy fingers? Logitech TrackMan Wheel: I highly doubt this trackball, I assume we are still using the index and middle finger for clicking. Logitech Marble Mouse: I think we will use the thumb to click the left button, will I develop RSI on my thumb? And the right button, which finger should I use? If you know other trackball which might help, please tell me which is the design that help to avoid the stress.

• Input devices stopped working during system upgrade

  Hi, I was upgrading Ubuntu on my server (but Ubuntu is in desktop version) when mouse and keyboard stopped working :( So the screen went black (screensaver), and now I can't do anything. I don't know what stage of upgrade it stopped working, probably now it waits for me to answer some question. Keyboard and mouse were connected by KVM, connecting them directly doesn't help. Both are on USB. What I can do, is connecting to the machine by ssh. Can I somehow see and answer questions of update system and somehow finalize process of upgrade?

• USB drivers installed twice

  Hello, I have a problem with usb drivers on Windows 7 64bit When I start up my laptop, the mouse I have plugged into a usb port does not work. I have to open the device manager, where there are two "Standard Enhanced PCI to USB Host Controller" entries. One is marked as faulty (yellow triangle). I uninstall this. Scan for changes. Then it re-appears, but not marked as faulty. And the mouse works. I have to do this every time I reboot. A colleague has the same problem. Both DELL laptops, but different models. I've tried uninstalling all USB controllers, but after a reboot, they are all reinstalled with the faulty entry. This only started happening in the last few weeks. Any help appreciated. I tried using the negative look-behind expression (?<!Test)/Properties/AssemblyInfo\.cs$, but I didn't find a way to "un-ignore" in both folders "Test/" and "Tests/".

• Slow Jquery Animation

  I have this webpage : http://miloarc.pyrogenicmedia.com/ Which atm is nothing special. It has a few effects but none that break the bank. If you mouse over a tile, it should change it's opacity to give it a fade effect. This is done through the Jquery Animation, not through CSS (I do this so it can fade, instead of being a straight change). Everything looks nice when the page loads, and the fades look perfect. Infact if you drag your mouse all over the place, if gives you a "trail" almost like a snake. Anyway, My next problem is that you will see there is a box in the top left, which is going to tell you information about the tile you are hovering over. This seems to work fine. When you mouse over that information box, it switches it's position (So that you can reach the tiles that were previously hidden underneath it). From my understanding, this is all working fine, and to the letter. However, After one move of the info box (One hover). Viewing the page in Firefox turns slugish. As in, after a successful move of the info box, the fade effects become very stuttered, and it doesn't pick up events as fast meaning you can't draw a "trail" on the screen. Chrome doesn't have this issue. It seems to work fine no matter what. Safari also seems ok. Although I do notice if I move my mouse really fast, it does jump a bit but not as much as firefox. Internet explorer doesn't work at all. Seems to crash the browser... And there is an error with the rounded corner plugin im using (Not sure why...). All in all, I think whatever I'm doing inside my code must be heavily sluggish. But I don't know where it is happening.   I'm trying to troubleshoot a problem a friend is having. Her keyboard suddenly stopped working. She had a wireless keyboard/mouse combo and the mouse still worked. She tried with a different usb keyboard, and it still didn't work. She tried with a PS/2 keyboard and it didn't work. She's running Windows 7, but the keyboard also doesn't work during boot-up. I've got no idea what could possibly be the problem. Any suggestions?

• PySVN: is property status "none" equivalent to unchanged?

  I know the practical difference between a PySVN property status of "normal" (has properties, not changed locally) and "none" (has no properties). My question is this: is it ever possible for there to be local modifications to an items properites, and have PySVN report the property status as "none"? I would say no, but maybe there's some corner case I'm missing.

  Hello, I am trying to programmatically set the org.exolab.castor.indent property when marshalling some objects - however, contrary to the documentation published, the class org.exolab.castor.util.LocalConfiguration does not seem to be shipped with the 1.3 release. Currently, I have specified the castor.properties file on the classpath, which is picking up the properties I want to set, but I would rather reduce this deployment overhead, as my indentation requirement is not likely to change. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

• Synergy client drops and reconnects at UAC dialog

  I've been using Synergy for a while at work to connect my XP machine (the host) to my Win 7 laptop (the client). I previously was having issues with using Synergy and the UAC prompt, as described in this question, and have had no issues since, until recently. I upgraded to Synergy 1.4.10 and now am seeing odd behavior whenever a UAC prompt appears on my laptop. When the UAC prompt appears on my laptop, Synergy momentarily drops its connection to my laptop, causing my mouse and keyboard focus to revert to my host machine (the XP machine). After about a second or so, though, the connection gets re-established and I am able to type and use the mouse buttons in the UAC prompt. Once the prompt clears, the connection drops again for a second, and then gets re-established again. Is this something to do with configuration or perhaps should I just chalk it up to a change in behavior in version 1.4.10?

  Is there any way to modify the CSS properties of one table's cells based on the table's ids, rather than specific child ids? I would like to change one table's appearance (giving each cell a colored border, for instance) one way, and another table another way, but I'd like to avoid specifying an id for each cell. To be clear, I don't need to individually access each cell in the table - I just want to set all of the properties of "child" cells of various tables.

• Hyper-V and custom resolution

  I know this question has been asked many times (here and on TechNet), and the answer is usually "use RDP". But apparently, RDP is now the only option, and it's what I'm using. My screen is an LCD TV with a resolution of 1360x768. Unfortunately, this resolution is apparently not supported; the closest I can get in a Windows 8 VM is 1366x768, and it adds scrollbars, which make it difficult to put the mouse in the corners to get at the start screen and charm bar... Smaller resolutions don't fill the screen, so it's also difficult to put the mouse in the corner. Is there a way to set a custom resolution to fit my screen exactly ? (note: I know it's not a Windows 8 problem, since I don't have this problem on my host machine which also runs Windows 8. I assume it's related to the display adapter used by Hyper-V, but there don't seem to be any options to change it)

• [xUbuntu] Move a window back into the visible area?

  Hi I have this annoying little problem on my laptop that sometimes after I have used a external monitor (with higher resolution) some applications place them self outside the visible area of my desktop. So the question is how do I move them back into the visible area? (please note that no part of the window is visible so I can't use the mouse) Is there some app that can give me focus to move a application to the mouse pointer or something like that? • Open Windows Server 2012/Windows 8 Start Menu

  I realize that Windows Server 2012 (and Windows 8) removed the start menu button and replaced it with moving your mouse to the upper right corner of the screen. This works fine when the desktop is full screen. However, I access all my servers through windowed RDP connections (or through the Hyper-V console window) and in this case, the desktop is not full screen. Therefore, in order to open the new "start" menu, I have to slowly move my mouse very carefully within the window to just a few pixels within top right corner of the window in order to open the menu. Also, because the session is windowed, the default hot keys (Windows + D, etc.) won't work. There has got to be an easier way. Has anyone else experienced this frustration?

I have an object with some DateTime properties , and a Table in database that I store all that objects , in Sql server I want to store the DateTime properties in some columns of DateTime Datatype, but the format of datetime in sql server is different from the DateTime class in c# and I got an sql exception saying "DateTime cannot be parsed". I know how to solve this by making the format yyyy-MM-dd but is this the proper and best solution to do this?

• Thread.CurrentThread.CurrentUICulture not working consistently

  I've been working on a pet project on the weekends to learn more about C# and have encountered an odd problem when working with localization. To be more specific, the problem I have is with System.Threading.Thread.CurrentThread.CurrentUICulture. I've set up my app so that the user can quickly change the language of the app by clicking a menu item. The menu item in turn, saves the two-letter code for the language (e.g. "en", "fr", etc.) in a user setting called 'Language' and then restarts the application. Properties.Settings.Default.Language = "en"; Properties.Settings.Default.Save(); Application.Restart(); When the application is started up, the first line of code in the Form's constructor (even before InitializeComponent()) fetches the Language string from the settings and sets the CurrentUICulture like so: public Form1() { Thread.CurrentThread.CurrentUICulture = new CultureInfo(Properties.Settings.Default.Language); InitializeComponent(); } The thing is, this doesn't work consistently. Sometimes, all works well and the application loads the correct language based on the string saved in the settings file. Other times, it doesn't, and the language remains the same after the application is restarted. At first I thought that I didn't save the language before restarting the application but that is definitely not the case. When the correct language fails to load, if I were to close the application and run it again, the correct language would come up correctly. So this implies that the Language string has been saved but the CurrentUICulture assignment in my form constructor is having no effect sometimes. Any help? Is there something I'm missing of how threading works in C#? This could be machine-specific, so if it makes any difference I'm using Pentium Dual-Core CPU. UPDATE Vlad asked me to check what the CurrentThread's CurrentUICulture is. So I added a MessageBox on my constructor to tell me what the CurrentUICulture two-letter code is as well as the value of my Language user string. MessageBox.Show(string.Format("Current Language: {0}\nCurrent UI Culture: {1}", Properties.Settings.Default.Language, Thread.CurrentThread.CurrentUICulture.TwoLetterISOLanguageName)); When the wrong language is loaded, both the Language string and CurrentUICulture have the wrong language. So I guess the CurrentUICulture has been cleared and my problem is actually with the Language Setting. So I guess the problem is that my application sometimes loads the previously saved language string rather than the last saved language string. If the app is restarted, it will then load the actual saved language string.

  I have a dictionary that is populated with data from a table, we are doing this so we can hold multiple SQL tables inside this object. This approached cannot be discussed. The Dictionary is mapped as a , and contains SQL column name and the value, and each dictionary resembles one row entry in the Table. Now I need to display this on a editable gridview, preferably the ASPxGridView. I already figured out that I should use Dynamic Objects(C#), and everything worked perfectly, up to the part where I find out that the ASPxGridview is built in .NET 2.0 and not 4.0 where Dynamic objects where implemented, therefor I cannot use it...
