    For certain types of sql queries, an auxiliary table of numbers can be very useful. It may be created as a table with as many rows as you need for a particular task or as a user defined function that returns the number of rows required in each query. What is the optimal way to create such a function?

  • Help with HQL Query (find duplicates)

    - by BRhodes
    I am trying to convert this native sql into an HQL query. Basically it returns all the contacts that are duplicates (by company, firstname, and lastname). The query below works great, but performing a joined subselect seems impossible in HQL is it not?! Select c.* from contact c join ( Select c2.* from contact c2 group by c2.company, c2.firstname, c2.lastname, c2.teamId having count(c2.contactId)1 and teamId=1 ) dupes on c.company=dupes.company and c.teamId=1 and c.firstname=dupes.firstname and c.lastname=dupes.lastname order by c.company, c.firstname, c.lastname

  • Oracle - Return shortest string value in a set of rows

    - by Sridhar
    Hi, I'm trying to write a query that returns the shortest string value in the column. For ex: if ColumnA has values ABCDE, ZXDR, ERC, the query should return "ERC". I've written the following query, but I'm wondering if there is any better way to do this? BTW, the query should return a single value. select distinct ColumnA from ( select ColumnA, rank() over (order by length(ColumnA), ColumnA) len_rank from TableA where ColumnB = 'XXX' ) where len_rank <= 1 Thank you.

  • Adding additional sorting attributes to array of records...then sorting!

    - by keruilin
    Let's say I run an ActiveRecord query and it returns 3 results, with a bunch of attributes. I want to add 3 attributes to each record in the Array so I can do sorting at a code-level. These 3 include: num_comments, num_views, last_view. How do I add these attributes? How do I then sort the records, in order of precendence, by num_comments AND by num_views AND by last_view?

  • python how to find the median of a list

    - by user3450574
    I'm trying to write a function named median that takes a list as an input and returns the median value of the list. I'm working with Python 2.7.2 The list can be of any size and the numbers are not guaranteed to be in any particular order. If the list contains an even number of elements, the function should return the average of the middle two. This is the code I'm starting with: def median(list): print(median([7,12,3,1,6,9]))

  • Solr query results using *

    - by agentile
    I want to provide for partial matching, so I am tacking on * to the end of search queries. What I've noticed is that a search query of gatorade will return 12 results whereas gatorade* returns 7. So * seems to be 1 or many as opposed to 0 or many ... how can I achieve this? Am I going about partial matching in Solr all wrong? Thanks.

  • Write file at a specific value and line

    - by user2828891
    I want to write data at a specified value in a text file from a text box. Here is a example: item_begin etcitem 3344 item_type=etcitem is first line and item_begin weapon 3343 item_type=weapon is second. Well i want to replace item_type=weapon at second line with item_type=armor. Here is code so far: var data2 = File.WriteAllLines("itemdata.txt") .Where(x => x.Contains("3343")) .Take(1) .SelectMany(x => x.Split('\t')) .Select(x => x.Split('=')) .Where(x => x.Length > 1) .ToDictionary(x => x[0].Trim(), x => x[1]); But returns error at WriteAllLines. Here is the readline part code: var data = File.ReadLines("itemdata.txt") .Where(x => x.Contains("3343")) .Take(1) .SelectMany(x => x.Split('\t')) .Select(x => x.Split('=')) .Where(x => x.Length > 1) .ToDictionary(x => x[0].Trim(), x => x[1]); //call values textitem_type.Text = data["item_type"]; And want to write the same value I change on textitem_type.Text after read. I used this to reaplace but replaces all values with same name from line and returns me in text only 1 line. Code: private void button2_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { var data = File .ReadLines("itemdata.txt") .Where(x => x.Contains(itemSrchtxt.Text)) .Take(1) .SelectMany(x => x.Split('\t')) .Select(x => x.Split('=')) .Where(x => x.Length > 1) .ToDictionary(x => x[0].Trim(), x => x[1]); StreamReader reader = new StreamReader(Directory.GetCurrentDirectory() + @"\itemdata.txt"); string content = reader.ReadLine(); reader.Close(); content = Regex.Replace(content, data["item_type"], textitem_type.Text); StreamWriter write = new StreamWriter(Directory.GetCurrentDirectory() + @"\itemdata.txt"); write.WriteLine(content); write.Close(); }
