• How to quickly analyse large MDB file

  I need to know how to quickly analyse a large MDB file (about 1GB) to see which tables are causing it to be so big. Is there something will easily allow me to show a breakdown of which tables are responsible for how much data. I need to know whether it is just this one customer who is using the application differently, or whether there is genuinely a lot of data in the MDB. This MDB is currently causing the VB app to crash, and I need to know why it is so big so that I can maybe think about how to put some of the data into another 'archival' MDB. Migrating to SQL Server is not an option, unless the use of linked tables from an MDB is a realistic option.

• Django : mysql : 1045, "Access denied for user

  I have the whole setup working for months on my local computer. I'm installing on a remote site now. Created a fresh mysql DB, and created a new user ("someuser") and gave it complete grants, like so - GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES ON . TO 'someuser'@'localhost' IDENTIFIED BY 'somepassword' WITH GRANT OPTION; I have sync'd the db, using "python manage.py syncdb" and the correct tables were created. My settings.py has this same user. But when I try to login a user through the application, and it hits the DB, I see the following in the logs - (1045, "Access denied for user 'someuser'@'localhost' (using password: YES)") I logged in through mysql (installed on the same box as django) and checked the grants and it correctly shows - Grants for djangouser@localhost GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES ON * . * TO 'someuser'@'localhost' IDENTIFIED BY PASSWORD '*thesaltedpasswordOverHere' WITH GRANT OPTION I don't want to use the root user/password for django, since it doesn't seem the correct way. Any pointers as to what might be wrong ?

• Clustered index dilemma - ID or sort?

  I have a table with two very important fields: id INT identity(1,1) PRIMARY KEY identifiersortcode VARCHAR(900) My app always sorts and pages search results in the UI based on identifiersortcode, but all table joins (and they are legion) are on the id field. (Aside: yes, the sort code really is that long. There's a strong BL reason.) Also, due to O/RM use, most SELECT statements are going to pull almost every column. Currently, the clustered index is on id, but I'm wondering if the TOP / ORDER BY portion of most queries would make identifiersortcode a more attractive option as the clustered key, even considering all of the table joins going on. Inserts on the table and changes to the identifiersortcode are limited enough that changing my clustered index would be a problem for insert/update operations. Trying to make the sort code's non-clustered index a covering index (using INCLUDE) is not a good option. There are a number of large columns, and some of them have a lot of update activity.

• Drop down select to change a second drop down select automatically

  I have a webpage where I have a form with several areas to input text and two drop down select options countries is the first one and depending in witch country is chosen the second should display the estates for that country to choose. my page connects to my db from where it gets the countries and estates.... I have a table with the country names and one table for each country estates. so all I'm trying to do is making it change the states to choose from automatically depending witch country got selected with out summiting the form since that enters a new entry to another table in my db. I seen that using javascript is the way to go but can't get it to work in my case since I don't want to be sent to another page or summit the form. here is part of my code any help will be greatly appreciated.   Hi to all. Is it possible to have a 32x32 images on toolbar while keeping 16x16 in menu. I created toolbar resource (IDR_TOOLBAR1) and set it's button size as 32x32 and load it: if (!m_wndToolBar.CreateEx(this,...) || !m_wndToolBar.LoadToolBar(IDR_TOOLBAR1 )) { ... } When started toolbar correctly shows large btn images but menu is also enlarged showing 32x32 item images!? How to have menu images as before (small 16x16) My app info: SDI, VS2008 Thanks in advance! P.S. I have noticed an option check box "Large Images" in quick customization dialog under options tab. The dialog is enabled by default in my project. When selecting that option images buttons enlarge instantly, the problem is the new sized images is created from small ones and quality is poor. At this point, i understand there is an error in the ApplyRequestValues Phases which is very early and so the previous state is restored and nothing changes. What I don't understand is that in order to fufill the condition for rendering "item.typeA" that object has to be an instance of TypeA. But here, it looks like that object passed the condition even though it was an instance of TypeB. It is like it is evaluating the inner dataTable (InnerItems) before evaluating the outer (outerItems). My working assumption is that I just don't understand how/when the rendered attribute is actually evaluated.

  I wish to perform an experiment many different times. After every trial, I am left with a "large" set of output statistics -- let's say, 1000. I would like to store the outputs of my experiments in a table, but what's the best way...? Option 1 Have a table with 1000 columns. Seems like a bad idea. What if the number of statistics one day exceeds the maximum number of columns? Option 2 Have a table with three columns. Let's say, ID, StatisticType, and StatisticValue. That way, you can have as many statistics as you want. However, reading a single experiments statistics becomes more complicated. Moreover, what if different statistics are different data types?? Any suggestions?

  I'm dealing with a very big issue about bit rate , ffmpeg provide the -b option for the bit rate and for adjustment it provide -minrate and -maxrate, -bufsize but it don't work proper. If i'm giving 256kbps at -b option , when the trans-coding finishes , it provide the 380kbps. How can we achieve the constant bit rate using ffmpeg. If their is +-10Kb it's adjustable. but the video bit rate always exceed by 50-100 kbps. I'm using following command ffmpeg -i "demo.avs" -vcodec libx264 -s 320x240 -aspect 4:3 -r 15 -b 256kb \ -minrate 200kb -maxrate 280kb -bufsize 256kb -acodec libmp3lame -ac 2 \ -ar 22050 -ab 64kb -y "output.mp4" When trans-coding is done, the Media Info show overall bit rate 440kb (it should be 320kb). Is their something wrong in the command. Or i have to use some other parameter? Plz provide your suggestion its very important.

  What is the best way (or options) for accessing spring components at layers deep within the application that aren't managed by spring? For example, I have a low level utility POJO class into which I need to autowire/inject a spring component. I'll call it LowLevelHelper. There are multiple classes that use LowLevelHelper - most are layers away from anything that is hooked up with spring. One option would be to make all the layers in to spring components, but that seems like I'm hacking my design to force spring to help me. I have some complex things going on that won't be nearly as clean if I have to @Autowire all the pieces and don't new anything. Another option might be to manually inject the component in the low level class, but I'm not really sure if this is possible or the right solution.

What I want is run cucumber features and this translate to cucumber features --format pretty I tried to do this editing the config/cucumber.yml file (on a rails project).   Here's the gist: I have a call I want to make in asp, and I do not care about the response. I just want to fire the call and I do not want the page to wait for the response. According to the documentation, it should look something like this: dim xmlhttp : set xmlhttp = Server.CreateObject("MSXML2.ServerXMLHTTP") xmlhttp.Open "POST", url, true '' setting the 'asynchronous' option to 'true' xmlhttp.setRequestHeader "Content-Type", "application/soap+xml; charset=utf-8" xmlhttp.setRequestHeader "Content-Length", Len(XMLData) xmlhttp.send XMLData This works peachy when calling synchronously, but when I flip the ansynchronous option to 'true', nothing fires. What I can gather from the internet is that users do something like the following: While xmlhttp.readyState <> 4 xmlhttp.waitForResponse 1000 Wend Am I crazy in that this does not really seem like an asynchrous call anymore though if you are waiting for a response? putting the line xmlhttp.waitForResponse 1 right after the send will cause the request to fire, but again, I don't want to wait a second. Any thoughts?

  IS THERE A WAY FOR A OPTION TO SELECT WHICH PDFS TO SHOW WITH THE FPDI FUNCTION? THIS IS THE REGULAR CODE: $pdf-AddPage(); // set the sourcefile $pdf-setSourceFile('h.pdf'); // import page 1 $tplIdx = $pdf-importPage(1); // use the imported page and place it at point 10,10 with a width of 100 mm $pdf-useTemplate($tplIdx, 0, 0, 0); Is there a way to make this $pdf-setSourceFile('h.pdf'); a option for users who visit the website. For example: have - $pdf-setSourceFile('h.pdf'); & $pdf-setSourceFile('g.pdf'); - then let the visitor select which one to include in the pdf via fpdi. I would prefer something like a input. Any ideas?? or something similar??? Help is very much appreciated!! :D

• TDD: Write a separate test for object initialization or relying on other tests exercising it

  This seems to be the common pattern that's emerging in some of the tests I've worked on lately. We have a class, and quite often this is legacy code whose design can't be easily altered, which has a bunch of member variables. There's some kind of "Initialize" or "Load" function which would put an object into a valid state. Only after it is initialized/loaded, are the members in the proper state so that other methods can be exercised. So when we start writing tests, first test is "TestLoad" and all we put in there is exercising initialization logic. Then we might add one (or few) TestLoadFailureXXX tests and those are definitely valuable. Then we start writing tests to verify other behaviors but all of them require the object to be loaded. So they all start by running exactly the same code as "TestLoad". So my question: Is TestLoad even necessary? Do you take it and let other tests simply exercise the loading? Or leave it so things are more explicit? I know that each unit test function should have no (or as little as possible) overlap with other test functions, but it seems like in cases of loading, this is unavoidable. And whether we like it or not, if something in the loading code breaks, we will end up with a whole test suite of failures. Is there another approach that I might be missing here? Thank you for the responses. It definitely makes sense that you want to see "InitializationTest" and if that fails you know where to start looking. In case it matters, this question is mostly about C++ and we use CppUnit framework. And now, thanks to sleske, I'll be constantly wishing that CppUnit supported test dependencies. Might have to hack something in one of these days :)
