    My doubt is that if the len(list) calculates the length of the list everytime it is called or it returns the value of the builtin counter.I have a context where i need to check the length of list everytime in a loop, likelistData = [] for value in ioread(): if len(listData)=25: processlistdata() clearlistdata() listData.append(value) Should I check len(listData) every iteration, or can I have a counter for the length of the list.

    I am currently using find() and first() method to select the first descendent element from each of the <div> elements that contains the parent class. But I find this quite cumbersome since find() method would produce a set of matched elements before the first element is being picked. How can i remove items from the list, in some simple way, without saving indexes of these items in another list or array, and removing them in another place in the code. Tried also RemoveAt(index) but it's exactly the same situation, modifying when loop runs.

  • Works on debug but not release

    I have a thread that sets a value to true when it is done. Until then I wait: while(1) { if(done[0] == true) { break; } } This code works just fine in Debug but in Release it stays in the loop forever even though the debugger clearly says that it is true and not false. Why would this not work? Thanks

    I am initialising a StringBuilder as follows: StringBuilder builder = new StringBuilder("Symptoms are "); After this I loop through a list and add each string item to the end using foreach(var item in list) { builder.Append(item); } An example item would be something like "headache" but once i've appended it to "Symptoms are " and called builder.ToString() it shows: "Symptoms areHeadache...etc" as opposed to "Symptoms are Headache...etc" Why is it ignoring the space?

At the end of each record I need to clear my string variables but I read that someString = @"" actually just points to a new string & causes a memory leak. What is the best way to handle this? Should I rather use mutable string vars and use setString:@"" between iterations?

  • Select options not showing in IE

    I have a dynamically generated select with some options and it shows the options fine in normal browsers, but its empty options in IE. Here's the generated HTML: <select name="0" id="custom_0" style="border-bottom: #c0cedb 1px solid; border-left: #c0cedb 1px solid; background-color: #ededed; width: 280px; font-size: 0.87em; border-top: #c0cedb 1px solid; border-right: #c0cedb 1px solid"> <option id="1000" value="0" name="00">1x2GB ECC DDRIII 2GB ECC DDRIII</option> <option id="1001" value="10" name="01">2x2GB ECC DDRIII 4GB ECC DDRIII (+10.00 €)</option> </select> I can't really show you the javascript, since there's so much of it and I would be able to make it simple just for a demo. Maybe you had some of you would've had a similar experience and could figure this one out. The weird thing is, if I alert the html of the option just after the getDiff() function, it shows the value filled out. And it I put the getDiff() function in the for loop where the options are generated, it fills the values and shows them in IE, just not the last one. I'm calling getDiff() outside the loop for optimization, and since I can add the values later after all the options are generated. Well at least I thought I could, since it works on Firefox and Chrome.

  • Chrome not displaying a div

    Click here to see a simple example of what I want. It's really easy, but for some reason Google won't display the "subTotalCaption2" div. It's part of a foreach loop, if needed I can add other codes. There is nothing else in the rest of the css to mess with this, I have checked about 10 times.     I'm writing a small ruby daemon that I am hoping will do the following: Check if a specific directory has files (in this case, .yml files) If so, take the first file (numerically sorted preferrably), and parse into a hash Do a 'yield', with this hash as the argument What I have right now is like: loop do get_next_in_queue { |s| THINGS } end def get_next_in_queue queue_dir = Dir[File.dirname(__FILE__)+'/../queue'] info = YAML::load_file(queue_dir[0]) #not sure if this works or not yield info end I'd like to make the yield conditional if possible, so it only happens if a file is actually found.
