  • Android: database reading problem throws exception

    - by Vamsi
    Hi, i am having this problem with the android database. I adopted the DBAdapter file the NotepadAdv3 example from the google android page. DBAdapter.java public class DBAdapter { private static final String TAG = "DBAdapter"; private static final String DATABASE_NAME = "PasswordDb"; private static final String DATABASE_TABLE = "myuserdata"; private static final String DATABASE_USERKEY = "myuserkey"; private static final int DATABASE_VERSION = 2; public static final String KEY_USERKEY = "userkey"; public static final String KEY_TITLE = "title"; public static final String KEY_DATA = "data"; public static final String KEY_ROWID = "_id"; private final Context mContext; private DatabaseHelper mDbHelper; private SQLiteDatabase mDb; private static final String DB_CREATE_KEY = "create table " + DATABASE_USERKEY + " (" + "userkey text not null" +");"; private static final String DB_CREATE_DATA = "create table " + DATABASE_TABLE + " (" + "_id integer primary key autoincrement, " + "title text not null" + "data text" +");"; private static class DatabaseHelper extends SQLiteOpenHelper { DatabaseHelper(Context context) { super(context, DATABASE_NAME, null, DATABASE_VERSION); } @Override public void onCreate(SQLiteDatabase db) { db.execSQL(DB_CREATE_KEY); db.execSQL(DB_CREATE_DATA); } @Override public void onUpgrade(SQLiteDatabase db, int oldVersion, int newVersion) { Log.w(TAG, "Upgrading database from version " + oldVersion + " to " + newVersion + ", which will destroy all old data"); db.execSQL("DROP TABLE IF EXISTS myuserkey"); db.execSQL("DROP TABLE IF EXISTS myuserdata"); onCreate(db); } } public DBAdapter(Context ctx) { this.mContext = ctx; } public DBAdapter Open() throws SQLException{ try { mDbHelper = new DatabaseHelper(mContext); } catch(Exception e){ Log.e(TAG, e.toString()); } mDb = mDbHelper.getWritableDatabase(); return this; } public void close(){ mDbHelper.close(); } public Long storeKey(String userKey){ ContentValues initialValues = new ContentValues(); initialValues.put(KEY_USERKEY, userKey); try { mDb.delete(DATABASE_USERKEY, "1=1", null); } catch(Exception e) { Log.e(TAG, e.toString()); } return mDb.insert(DATABASE_USERKEY, null, initialValues); } public String retrieveKey() { final Cursor c; try { c = mDb.query(DATABASE_USERKEY, new String[] { KEY_USERKEY}, null, null, null, null, null); }catch(Exception e){ Log.e(TAG, e.toString()); return ""; } if(c.moveToFirst()){ return c.getString(0); } else{ Log.d(TAG, "UserKey Empty"); } return ""; } //not including any function related to "myuserdata" table } Class1.java { mUserKey = mDbHelper.retrieveKey(); mDbHelper.storeKey(Key); } the error that i am receiving is from Log.e(TAG, e.toString()) in the methods retrieveKey() and storeKey() "no such table: myuserkey: , while compiling: SELECT userkey FROM myuserkey"

  • JSON Post To Rails From Android

    - by Stealthnh
I'm currently working on an android app that interfaces with a Ruby on Rails app through XML and JSON. I can currently pull all my posts from my website through XML but I can't seem to post via JSON. My app currently builds a JSON object from a form that looks a little something like this: { "post": { "other_param": "1", "post_content": "Blah blah blah" } } On my server I believe the Create method in my Posts Controller is set up correctly: def create @post = current_user.posts.build(params[:post]) respond_to do |format| if @post.save format.html { redirect_to @post, notice: 'Post was successfully created.' } format.json { render json: @post, status: :created, location: @post } format.xml { render xml: @post, status: :created, location: @post } else format.html { render action: "new" } format.json { render json: @post.errors, status: :unprocessable_entity } format.xml { render xml: @post.errors, status: :unprocessable_entity } end end end And in my android app I have a method that takes that JSON Object I posted earlier as a parameter along with the username and password for being authenticated (Authentication is working I've tested it, and yes Simple HTTP authentication is probably not the best choice but its a quick and dirty fix) and it then sends the JSON Object through HTTP POST to the rails server. This is that method: public static void sendPost(JSONObject post, String email, String password) { DefaultHttpClient client = new DefaultHttpClient(); client.getCredentialsProvider().setCredentials(new AuthScope(null,-1), new UsernamePasswordCredentials(email, password)); HttpPost httpPost = new HttpPost("http://mysite.com/posts"); JSONObject holder = new JSONObject(); try { holder.put("post", post); StringEntity se = new StringEntity(holder.toString()); Log.d("SendPostHTTP", holder.toString()); httpPost.setEntity(se); httpPost.setHeader("Content-Type","application/json"); } catch (UnsupportedEncodingException e) { Log.e("Error",""+e); e.printStackTrace(); } catch (JSONException js) { js.printStackTrace(); } HttpResponse response = null; try { response = client.execute(httpPost); } catch (ClientProtocolException e) { e.printStackTrace(); Log.e("ClientProtocol",""+e); } catch (IOException e) { e.printStackTrace(); Log.e("IO",""+e); } HttpEntity entity = response.getEntity(); if (entity != null) { try { entity.consumeContent(); } catch (IOException e) { Log.e("IO E",""+e); e.printStackTrace(); } } } Currently when I call this method and pass it the correct JSON Object it doesn't do anything and I have no clue why or how to figure out what is going wrong. Is my JSON still formatted wrong, does there really need to be that holder around the other data? Or do I need to use something other than HTTP POST? Or is this just something on the Rails end? A route or controller that isn't right? I'd be really grateful if someone could point me in the right direction, because I don't know where to go from here.

  • Accessing Android's Barcode Scanner from WebView

    - by spickles
I love the BarCode Scanner application for the Android phone (we're using Motorola's Droid). Is it possible to access the BarCode Scanner from a web application running on the phone? I was thinking of using a WebView, but I'm not sure how I'd access the Scanner API. Regards, Scott

    - by fazo
i'm asking 1.5 and up or is it dependant on what's in ".config" when compiled for my phone? (and yes, i know that android has to support processors with soft-float, but several libm on different phones do have hard-float libm) (please provide -if possible- any link to/file name of context switching function for msm 7200A/7201A)

The next time it runs it tries to do the same , but because the rows were previously deleted it fails . • Android adding external libraries to project

    - by wuntee
I have a project that I would like to add external libraries to (and have them packaged with the application) but I am not sure it is happening. I read on this link: http://developer.android.com/intl/fr/guide/appendix/faq/commontasks.html how to, but they do not show up in any of the /data/data/project directories. Does anyone know how I can confirm that the libraries were in fact added to the project for use at runtime? Thanks.

  • Creating an empty Drawable in Android

    - by Kai
Creating a Drawable that is completely empty seems like a common need, as a place holder, initial state, etc., but there doesn't seem to be a good way to do this... at least in XML. Several places refer to the system resource @android:drawable/empty but as far as I can tell (i.e., it's not in the reference docs, and aapt chokes saying that it can't find the resource) this doesn't exist. Is there a general way of referencing an empty Drawable, or do you end up creating a fake empty PNG for each project?

  • Android MapView: Disable auto zoom

    - by Ola Andersson
Hi. I have made an Android app that shows a MapView with two overlays, one MyLocationOverlay and one custom overlay. I am programmatically zooming and panning to what I want the map to show. It also auto pans to my current location. The auto pan is moving the map away from what I want to show. So my question is simply: How can I disable the auto pan? Thanks, Ola

  • An EventBus framework for Android

    - by Benju
Can anybody recommend a good framework for handling events in Android? These would be business logic events like UserUpdatedEvent. I am looking for something similar to the EventBus provided by GWT-EVENT but for a JVM that supports weak-references.
