  • Juju Openstack bundle: Can't launch an instance

    Deployed bundle:~makyo/openstack/2/openstack, on top of 7 physical boxes and 3 virtual ones. After changing vip_iface strings to point to right devices, e.g., br0 instead of eth0, and defining "/mnt/loopback|30G", in Cinder's block-device string, am able to navigate through openstack dashboard, error free. Following http://docs.openstack.org/grizzly/openstack-compute/install/apt/content/running-an-instance.html instructions, attempted to launch cirros 0.3.1 image; however, novalist shows the instance in   • EntityManager injection works in JBoss 7.1.1 but not WebSphere 7

    I've built an EJB that will manage my database access. I'm building a web app around it that uses Struts 2. The problem I'm having is when I deploy the ear, the EntityManager doesn't get injected into my service class (and winds up null and results in NullPointerExceptions). The weird thing is, it works on JBoss 7.1.1 but not on WebSphere 7. You'll notice that Struts doesn't inject the EJB, so I've got some intercepter code that does that. My current working theory right now is that the WS7 container can't inject the EntityManager because of Struts for some unknown reason. My next step is to try Spring next, but I'd really like to get this to work if possible. I've spent a few days searching and trying various things and haven't had any luck. I figured I'd give this a shot.     After having excellent response to my quiz – Why SELECT * throws an error but SELECT COUNT(*) does not?I have decided to ask another puzzling question to all of you. I am running this test on SQL Server 2008 R2. Here is the quick scenario about my setup. Create Table Insert 1000 Records Check the Statistics Now insert 10 times more 10,000 indexes Check the Statistics – it will be NOT updated Note: Auto Update Statistics and Auto Create Statistics for database is TRUE Expected Result – Statistics should be updated – SQL SERVER – When are Statistics Updated – What triggers Statistics to Update Now the question is why the statistics are not updated? The common answer is – we can update the statistics ourselves using UPDATE STATISTICS TableName WITH FULLSCAN, ALL However, the solution I am looking is where statistics should be updated automatically based on algorithm mentioned here.     Hello there, I have 5 JButtons: b1, b2, b3, b4, b5. By default, their color is gray. When I click on any button, the background of that button changes to white. When I click another button, I want that previous clicked button to change its background to gray, and this newly clicked button to change its background to white.   • Where do I define a group policy that will set a users desktop background color to green the first time they log in?

    Servers: W2k8 R2 x64 Desktops: Win7 Pro x64 Our current group policy uses a custom ADM file to define certain properties of the desktop (Background Image (centered), Background Color is green (00 74 00)). This policy works for us, but the down-side is that policies defined in our custom ADM are only applied after a GPUpdate /Force is applied. We would like these desktop theme settings to be applied the first time the user logs onto the computer. I've been working on a new policy that forces the computer to wait for the network when the user logs on to handle folder redirection. The reason for writing the new policy was to resolve the issue that a user needs to run GPupdate /Force the first time they log in, so it doesn't make sense for me to implement the new policy if there is still something that requires GPUpdate /Force to get the user in the state that we want them. I've moved the setting for background image out into Admin Templates- Desktop- Desktop- "Desktop Wallpaper" so this is now being set properly when the user first logs in. Now I'm left with a black background until I force a group policy update. I have tried to play around with setting a default "Theme" and had limited success; this was not reliable enough to call a solution. I suppose I could set the background color with a script? Any thoughts? It feels like I'm missing something obvious, or that this should be much easier than it is.

I'm using a framework that uses dynamic methods, and it is creating a dynamic assembly with the same name as my main assembly (which causes problems with WPF when it tries to load resources). So I need to find a workaround, and I thought of trying to change the name of the dynamic assembly. I've tried using GetName() and then setting the Name property, but it appears that GetName returns a clone of the name because my change doesn't stick. What else can I try?

I want to read this name, or get a reference without specifing the name. Currently I use: SharedPreferences prefs = ctx.getSharedPreferences("prefs", 0); SharedPreferences.Editor ed=prefs.edit(); But this returns another copy of the preference. When I checked the folder in /data/data/myapk/shared_prefs I see two files, one named prefs.xml and the other is my [package name]_preferences.xml (this was created by the PreferenceActivity); How do I get an instance of the shared preference with the usage of the default file name, so I should not mention a name for it?

    Hi I have seen this often in code, but when I speak of it i don't know the name of such 'pattern' I have a method with 2 arguments that calls an overloaded method that has 3 arguments and intentionality sets the 3rd one to empty string. public DoWork(string name, string phoneNumber) { CreateContact(name, phoneNumber, string.Empty) } public DoWork(string name, string phoneNumber, string emailAddress) { //do the work } The reason I'm doing this is I to not duplicate code, and allow the existing callers to still call the method that has only 2 parameters. I have associate a few tags to this question, but it probably fit in more categories of questions. Is this a pattern, and does it have a name?

There is a problem when xml tag's (or attribute's) name has special character in it: having xml content var xml:XML = <tag> <special-name att="val" /> </tag> special-name could not be accessed using xml.special-name.@att because it is interpreted as subtraction, on the other hand using square bracket notation xml['special-name'].@att breaks binding chain. Is there an elegant way to solve this (like special language syntax) without writing custom binding setters and listeners?

    For C# properties, I can do this: public class Employee{ public string Name { get; private set; } public Employee(string name){ Name = name; } } which means that the Name property can be set within the class Employee & can be read publicly. But, if I want to restrict the set to only within the constructors of the Employee class, I need to do: public class Employee{ public readonly string Name = String.Empty; public Employee(string name){ Name = name; } } But, for this case, I had to change the property to a field. Is there any reason this is not possible/allowed in C#: public class Employee{ public string Name { get; private readonly set; } public Employee(string name){ Name = name; } } IMO this will allow us to have properties which can be set only in the constructor & does not require us to change properties to fields...     I think that running this code you will get excactly what I mean. I want to register 5 names to a register(people). I loop 5 times and in each loop I have a variable newPerson which is supposed to save all information about a person and then be added to the people register. In this example only the names of the people are being registered for simplicity. The problem is that in the end all people turn to have the same name: "Petra". I playied a bit with this but can't get a reasonable reason for this behaviour.
