  • How to prevent window list "confusion" when detaching eclipse views?

    I'm detaching eclipse views to float on my other screen in order to get more coding space on the first screen. When doing that, the detached windows appear in ubuntu's window list applet with the eclipse icon but with no title. Then, when pushing the main eclipse button on the window list, one of the detached views will get to front but not the main eclipse window. When using Alt+tab I can also see the extra eclipse icons but choosing the correct one for the main window works and make it the active window while also showing all detached childs. Other applications behave as expected, e.g. gimp floating panels don't show on the windows list and this is also the case with SlickEdit, Firefox child windows all show on window list but gets the focus correctly, etc. I can see the the workspace switcher show my two screens but in 'Monitor preferences' I see my two screens as one big screen. I'm working with ubuntu 10.04.4 under a VMware Workstation 7.1.3 build-324285. 'uname -a' output: Linux ubuntu 2.6.32-40-generic #87-Ubuntu SMP Tue Mar 6 00:56:56 UTC 2012 x86_64 GNU/Linux The desktop screen shot with the problem, ununtu's version, and Monitor preferences. How can I solve it and make only the main window show in window list or at least get activated when pushing it's button on the window list?

    I have a typical definition/instance situation in my data modeling. I'm trying to store the content_type of a GenericForeignKey in another model (the definition model) like so: class IndicatorFieldInstance(models.Model): definition = models.ForeignKey(IndicatorField) object_id = models.PositiveIntegerField() content_object = generic.GenericForeignKey(definition.content_type, 'object_id') indicator_instance = models.ForeignKey(IndicatorInstance) I've also tried it like this: content_object = generic.GenericForeignKey('definition__content_type', 'object_id') Neither of these methods seem to work. Is it possible to achieve this? So my question is, How can I do to specify a relative path in this configuration file.

  • MVC Partial View to Call Display Pop-up window using jquery

    Hi I have a index page the renders objects from my database as a treeview, each item has a link href="/MessageGroupType/Edit/1002 that makes an Ajax call to display a partial view in a DIV. Within the partial view there is a delete button which calls my controller to delete the item. However, i do a check to make sure the item can be deleted, if the item cant be deleted then i wish a pop-up to appear back on the edit form telling the user they cant delete this record. In my Edit partial view i have the following code " type="text/javascript" $(function() { $("#dialog").dialog(); }); <% if (Boolean.Parse(ViewData["DisplayWindow"].ToString())){% This Mesage group Type Cannot be deleted as is linked to other message group Types <% }% So my main questions are Can i make a reference to a javascript script within my Partial View (i dont want my master page to be called on the partial view) When i dynamically load the partial view data into my DIV - can i then after calling my controller insert another DIV into the first DIV. I am i doing this the wrong way - so any pointers is appreciated Cheers

    Using the following JQuery/AJAX function I'm calling a partial view when an option is changed in a combobox named "ReportedIssue" that is also in the partial view. The is named "tableContent". <script type="text/javascript"> $(function() { $('#ReportedIssue') .change(function() { var styleValue = $(this).val(); $('#tableContent').load( '/CurReport/TableResults', { style: styleValue } ); }) .change(); }); </script> My problem is that after the jump to the partial view I lose the link to the javascript. I think I'm supposed to use the JQuery ".live()" but I'm unsure. In short, I want to re-establish the link between my JavaScript and my combobox and after the inclusion of the partial view's HTML.   • Calling a MVC2 partial view using jquery returns empty string problem

    I have an issue where I have a partial view that returns some HTML to be displayed. Its called when something is clicked on the page using jquery. The problem is that no matter how I call it, i get back an empty string even though it reports success. This is happening to me using Chrome, going against my local machine. My controller looks like this: public ActionResult MyPartialView() { return PartialView(model); } I have tried jquery using .get(), .post() and .load() and all have the same results. Here is an example using .post(): $.post(url, function (data) { alert(data); }); The result always comes back as an empty string. I can navigate to the partial view in the browser manually and i get back the desired HTML. The URL I am using to call it I resolved fully so it looks like "http://localhost/controller/mypartialview" rather than using the relative path of "/controller/mypartialview" which I thought was the original problem. Any idea what may cause this?

  • How to populate a generic list of objects in C# from SQL database

    I am just learning ASP.NET c# and trying to incorporate best practices into my applications. Everything that I read says to layer my applications into DAL, BLL, UI, etc based on separation of concerns. Instead of passing datatables around, I am thinking about using custom objects so that I am loosely coupled to my data layer and can take advantage of intellisense in VS. I assume these objects would be considered DTOs? First, where do these objects reside in my layers? BLL, DAL, other? Second, when populating from SQL, should I loop through a data reader to populate the list or first fill a data table, then loop through the table to populate the list? I know you should close the database connection as soon as possible, but it seems like even more overhead to populate the data table and then loop through that for the list. Third, everything I see these days says use Linq2SQL. I am planning to learn Linq2SQL, but at this time I am working with a legacy database that doesn't have foreign keys setup and I do not have the ability to fix it atm. Also, I want to learn more about c# before I start getting into ORM solutions like nHibernate. At the same time I don't want to type out all the connection and SQL plumbing for every query. Is it ok to use the Enterprise DAAB for now?

    I am attempting to create a strongly typed view with a "MVC View User Control" that is being rendered using Html.RenderPartial(). The top of my ascx file looks like this: <%@ Control Language="C#" Inherits="System.Web.Mvc.ViewUserControl<System.Collections.IEnumerable<string>>" %> There is nothing else on this page, currently. When I execute the app and load the page that renders this control, I get the following error: Could not load type 'System.Web.Mvc.ViewUserControl<System.Collections.IEnumerable<string>>'. So, then I simplified it: <%@ Control Language="C#" Inherits="System.Web.Mvc.ViewUserControl<String>" %> And then, just in case it needed to be fully qualified: <%@ Control Language="C#" Inherits="System.Web.Mvc.ViewUserControl<System.String>" %> Everytime I get the same error (substituting type). what am I doing wrong here? I'm on .NET 3.5 with ASP.NET MVC 1.0 RTM.

    I have a html table with a column per row with this html code inside the tags: <a onclick="modalDialog(this); return false;" href="javascript:void(0)">17795</a> <div style="display: none;" class="MessageDataDiv"> some text to show up in my jquery modal window when function modaldialog is clicked. </div> And the jquery function that is called when onclick is fired within the a href link function modalDialog(event) { $('a.message').click(function () { var div = new $(this).closest("td").find(".MessageDataDiv").clone(); div.show().dialog(); event.preventDefault(); }); } Can anyone help me with some advice how to write the jquery function more correct so the function only fires one time when the linked is clicked. I need to have the jquery function modalDialog as a separate function because the html table use ajax partial rendering... The problem is when i click the a href link first time nothing happens, second click on the links gives med two modal dialog and third click gives me three modal dialog and so on...

  • Building a generic page "Query Analyzer" like in Asp.net with SMO

    Hello, I'm build a web page in ASP.net is supposed to work just like Query Analyzer. It has basically a textarea to input the sql command, and an Execute button. I'm using SMO to execute the command in the database, as follows: //Create object SMO Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Smo.Server server = new Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Smo.Server(new Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Common.ServerConnection(oConn)); //To execute the command server.ConnectionContext.ExecuteNonQuery(tbx_cmd.Text); //OR myDataset = server.ConnectionContext.ExecuteWithResults(tbx_cmd.Text); The problem is that the textarea command can contain anything, from a stored procedure (with GO's statements) and any select command that return resultsets, just like Query Analyzer. But, if I have GO statements, I only can perform the query using ExecuteNonQuery method. If I use the ExecuteWithResults method, it raises errors because of the GO statements. And if I want the resultsets to be available, of course I can only use the ExecuteWithResults method. Does anybody knows how can I do to execute the same command texts at the same time? Thank you!

    Hi Folks Basically for my webapp I'm trying to organise it a bit better. As it at the moment, every time I want to load a page, I have to do it from my controller like so: $this->load->view('subviews/template/headerview'); $this->load->view('subviews/template/menuview'); $this->load->view('The-View-I-Want-To-Load'); $this->load->view('subviews/template/sidebar'); $this->load->view('subviews/template/footerview'); As you can tell it's not really very efficient. So I thought I'd create one 'master' view - It's called template.php. This is the contents of the template view: <?php $view = $data['view']; $this->load->view('subviews/template/headerview'); $this->load->view('subviews/template/menuview'); $this->load->view($view); $this->load->view('subviews/template/sidebar'); $this->load->view('subviews/template/footerview'); ?> And then I thought I'd be able to call it from a controller like this: $data['view'] = 'homecontent'; $this->load->view('template',$data); Unfortunately I simply cannot make this work. Does anyone have any ways around this or fixes I can put into place? I've tried putting ""s and ''s around $view in template.php but that makes no difference. The usual error is "Undefined variable: data" or "Cannot load view: $view.php" etc. Thanks folks! Jack

    I'm currently developing a medium sized application, which will access 2 or more SQL databases, on different sites etc... I am considering using something similar to this: http://mikehadlow.blogspot.com/2008/03/using-irepository-pattern-with-linq-to.html However, I want to use fluent nHibernate, in place of Linq-to-SQL (and of course nHibernate.Linq) Is this viable? How would I go about configuring this? Where would my mapping definitions go etc...? This application will eventually have many facets - from a WebUI, WCF Library and Windows applications / services. Also, for example on a "product" table, would I create a "ProductManager" class, that has methods like: GetProduct, GetAllProducts etc... Any pointers are greatly received.

Since I upgraded Windsor, I now get the following exception at runtime: Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code. Exception Details: System.TypeLoadException: GenericArguments[0], 'T', on 'MyApp.Models.Repositories.Linq.BasicRepository`1[TEntity]' violates the constraint of type parameter 'TEntity'.     Hi all, I'm attempting to create a class with many parameters, using a Builder pattern rather than telescoping constructors. I'm doing this in the way described by Joshua Bloch's Effective Java, having private constructor on the enclosing class, and a public static Builder class. The Builder class ensures the object is in a consistent state before calling build(), at which point it delegates the construction of the enclosing object to the private constructor. Thus public class Foo { // Many variables private Foo(Builder b) { // Use all of b's variables to initialize self } public static final class Builder { public Builder(/* required variables */) { } public Builder var1(Var var) { // set it return this; } public Foo build() { return new Foo(this); } } } I then want to add type bounds to some of the variables, and thus need to parametrize the class definition. I want the bounds of the Foo class to be the same as that of the Builder class. public class Foo<Q extends Quantity> { private final Unit<Q> units; // Many variables private Foo(Builder<Q> b) { // Use all of b's variables to initialize self } public static final class Builder<Q extends Quantity> { private Unit<Q> units; public Builder(/* required variables */) { } public Builder units(Unit<Q> units) { this.units = units; return this; } public Foo build() { return new Foo<Q>(this); } } } This compiles fine, but the compiler is allowing me to do things I feel should be compiler errors. E.g. public static final Foo.Builder<Acceleration> x_Body_AccelField = new Foo.Builder<Acceleration>() .units(SI.METER) .build(); Here the units argument is not Unit<Acceleration> but Unit<Length>, but it is still accepted by the compiler. What am I doing wrong here? I want to ensure at compile time that the unit types match up correctly.

    Hi, I get an IEnumerable which I know is a object array. I also know the datatype of the elements. Now I need to cast this to an IEnumerable<T, where T is a supplied type. For instance IEnumerable results = GetUsers(); IEnumerable<T> users = ConvertToTypedIEnumerable(results, typeof(User)); I now want to cast/ convert this to IEnumerable<User. Also, I want to be able to do this for any type. I cannot use IEnumerable.Cast<, because for that I have to know the type to cast it to at compile time, which I don't have. I get the type and the IEnumerable at runtime. - Thanks

    Hello, I am wondering if there's an elegant solution for doing this in Java (besides the obvious one - of declaring a different/explicit function. Here is the code: private static HashMap<String, Integer> nameStringIndexMap = new HashMap<String, Integer>(); private static HashMap<Buffer, Integer> nameBufferIndexMap = new HashMap<Buffer, Integer>(); // and a function private static String newName(Object object, HashMap<Object, Integer> nameIndexMap){ .... } The problem is that I cannot pass nameStringIndexMap or nameBufferIndexMap parameters to the function. I don't have an idea about a more elegant solution beside doing another function which explicitly wants a HashMap<String, Integer> or HashMap<Buffer, Integer> parameter. My question is: Can this be made in a more elegant solution/using generics or something similar? Thank you, Iulian
