    how can i create a pre-allocated file on android? something like a sparse file ? i need to make an applicaton that will download a large file , and i want to avoid having an out-of-space error while the download is commencing . my solution needs to support resuming and writing to both internal and external storage. i've tried what is written here: Create file with given size in Java but none of the solutions there didn't work for some reason.

  • Apache SSL for login and NON-SSL for everything else (.htacces)

    Hey I've almost figured it out on my own but there's something I'm missing. I want to set a couple of directories and files to require SSL and everything else that's not related to those files and dirs to point back to http. So far I have this: RewriteEngine on RewriteBase / # Force ssl for login & admin RewriteCond %{HTTPS} !on RewriteRule ^/?(admin(.*)|login\.php)$ https://%{SERVER_NAME}/$1 [R,NC,L] # Force non-ssl for others RewriteCond %{HTTPS} on RewriteRule ^/?(admin(.*)|login\.php)$ http://%{SERVER_NAME}/$1 [R,NC,L] I'm sure I'm doing something wrong but I just can't figure it out.... The first condition works perfect - whenever I access login.php or /admin/ it points to https. But the second one doesn't... Where have I mistaken ? Thanks in advance!

    I would like to know how we can modify the settings of the Google Search Engine used in Internet Explorer 9.0 to force to use a specific language. Our problem is the following: as it uses geolocation by default, and we are in Switzerland, it takes the first of the official languages this is Swiss-German. However, we are located in Geneva where French is the official language. Furthermore, as most of our users speak English, we would like to force the language to be English and not Swiss-German.     Hello, I have a netbook with Linpus Linux and I'm trying to open automatically generated documents with Acrobat Reader that use Verdana but without having it embedded inside the PDF file. Linpus doesn't come natively with any Verdana font so I had to install them inside /usr/share/fonts/by doing mkfontdirand fc-cacheto force a recache of the fonts. Then I've been able to select it inside other programs (eg. OpenOffice) but I'm still unable to open these PDFs. It seems that Acrobat is unable to find the font anyway. Since I have no control on how these PDFs are generated, is there a way to force Acrobat to use a specific font is the one it needs is unfound? Or maybe Acrobat needs a different kind of font configuration on Linux? Thanks in advance

  • Resize ntfs system partitions with GParted?

    Trying to resize 2 ntfs system and boot partitions (windows 2003 server) using GParted. Goal: Resize D: (/dev/sda1) to ~850G - this is the boot drive with D:\ntldr, boot.ini, etc. Resize C: (/dev/sda5) to 100G - this is the system drive with C:\windows Tried resizing /dev/sda5 first and got the chkdsk error shown in screenshot #2. (You must run chkdsk /f). Have already run chkdsk /f on C: multiple times with no bad sectors or errors found. Have also run multiple chkdsk /f's on the underlying hard disk multiple times and rebooted way more than a couple times with the same error. How do you force gparted to ignore this error and resize? I found there is --force option to ntfsresize but don't know how to get the GParted ISO live CD to use it. How do you move the unallocated space so an extra ~750G is to the right of /dev/sda1 (D:), and an extra 10G to the right of /dev/sda5 (C:)

  • uTorrent error: Access is denied

    When I booted my computer today and opened up uTorrent it went on, as usual, to check the torrents that I had been running before. On one it returned an "Access is denied" error after it had been checked. I have absolutely no idea why this is happening as I was downloading the same torrent just the night before, and additionally because I have other torrents going in the same downloads folder and they do not have any such errors. It may be worth noting that on said defective torrent, there appear to be no seeds and no connected peers (of the 33 available) and three of the trackers appear to be inactive as well (those being Peer Exchange, Local Peer Discovery and DHT). I have rebooted a few times in an attempt to fix this problem, but to no success. I also tried a few times force rechecking / force starting but neither of those worked either. edit I booted today and it was working for whatever reason. thanks for all of the help anyways guys!

    For deubgging some process I will need to download the PDB files for some operating system dll files (OLE32, NTDLL, etc.) That server is not connected to the internet. I know the following method to get the PDB. Get full dump of the process Copy the dump to another machine where internet connection is available Use .reload to download the PDB files Copy the PDB files from the local PDB store Is there any thing more simple or do I have to go through the dumping process? So far, I'm able to download the web page before the submission but not the response page containing the search results. The problem seems to be that curl isn't waiting long enough for the response page to appear. The website behaviors likes this.   • Routing traffic to a specific NIC in Windows

    I added a 10GB NIC to a SQL server which is connected over to a backend storage using ISCSI. I would like to force traffic going to a certain IP address/host to use the 10gb NIC, while all other traffic should continue to use the 1GB NIC. The 10gb nic is configured using a private network. So far I have added a entry in the host file to the host I want to go over the private network and when I ping the host, it does return the private IP, but I'm still finding traffic going to the 1gb pipe. How can I force all traffic to this host to use the 10gb interface? Would the best approach be a static route? 160.205.2.3 is the IP to the 1gb host, I actually want to the traffic to route over an interface assigned 172.31.3.2, which is also defined as Interface 22. That said, would this work? route add 160.205.2.3 mask 255.255.255.255 172.31.3.2 if 22
