  • C# LINQ filtering with nested if statements

    - by Tim Sumrall
    I have a learning project where a data grid is filtered by 3 controls (a checkbox and 2 dropdowns) I'm about to wrap up and move on to another project as it works well but I don't like the complexity of nesting IF statements to capture all the possible combinations of the 3 filters and was wondering if there is a better way. For example: Something that would allow for more filters to be added easily rather than walking through all the nests and adding another level of madness. private void BuildQuery() { EntityQuery<MASTER_DOCKS> query = QDocksContext.GetMASTER_DOCKSQuery(); if (Tonnage.IsChecked.HasValue && Tonnage.IsChecked.Value) { if (null != FilterWaterWay.SelectedValue) { string WaterwaytoFilterBy = FilterWaterWay.SelectedValue.ToString(); if (!string.IsNullOrWhiteSpace(WaterwaytoFilterBy) && WaterwaytoFilterBy != "[Select WaterWay]") { if (null != FilterState.SelectedValue) { string StateToFilterBy = FilterState.SelectedValue.ToString(); if (null != FilterState.SelectedValue && !string.IsNullOrWhiteSpace(StateToFilterBy) && StateToFilterBy != "[Select State]") { if (!string.IsNullOrWhiteSpace(StateToFilterBy) && StateToFilterBy != "[Select State]") { query = query.Where(s => s.WTWY_NAME == WaterwaytoFilterBy && s.STATE == StateToFilterBy && (s.Tons != "0" && s.Tons != "")).OrderBy(s => s.WTWY_NAME); MyQuery.Text = "Tonnage, WW and State"; } } if (StateToFilterBy == "[Select State]") //waterway but no state { query = query.Where(s => s.WTWY_NAME == WaterwaytoFilterBy && (s.Tons != "0" && s.Tons != "")).OrderBy(s => s.WTWY_NAME); MyQuery.Text = "Tonnage, WW No State"; } } } else { if (null != FilterState.SelectedValue) { string StateToFilterBy = FilterState.SelectedValue.ToString(); if (null != FilterState.SelectedValue && !string.IsNullOrWhiteSpace(StateToFilterBy) && StateToFilterBy != "[Select State]") { if (!string.IsNullOrWhiteSpace(StateToFilterBy) && StateToFilterBy != "[Select State]") { query = query.Where(s => s.STATE == StateToFilterBy && (s.Tons != "0" && s.Tons != "")).OrderBy(s => s.WTWY_NAME); MyQuery.Text = "Tonnage State No WW"; } } else { query = query.Where(s => (s.Tons != "0" && s.Tons != "")); MyQuery.Text = "Tonnage No State No WW"; } } } } } else //no tonnage { if (null != FilterWaterWay.SelectedValue) { string WaterwaytoFilterBy = FilterWaterWay.SelectedValue.ToString(); if (!string.IsNullOrWhiteSpace(WaterwaytoFilterBy) && WaterwaytoFilterBy != "[Select WaterWay]") { if (null != FilterState.SelectedValue) { string StateToFilterBy = FilterState.SelectedValue.ToString(); if (null != FilterState.SelectedValue && !string.IsNullOrWhiteSpace(StateToFilterBy) && StateToFilterBy != "[Select State]") { if (!string.IsNullOrWhiteSpace(StateToFilterBy) && StateToFilterBy != "[Select State]") { query = query.Where(s => s.WTWY_NAME == WaterwaytoFilterBy && s.STATE == StateToFilterBy).OrderBy(s => s.WTWY_NAME); MyQuery.Text = "No Tonnage, WW and State"; } } if (StateToFilterBy == "[Select State]") //waterway but no state { query = query.Where(s => s.WTWY_NAME == WaterwaytoFilterBy).OrderBy(s => s.WTWY_NAME); MyQuery.Text = "No Tonnage, WW No State"; } } } else { if (null != FilterState.SelectedValue) { string StateToFilterBy = FilterState.SelectedValue.ToString(); if (null != FilterState.SelectedValue && !string.IsNullOrWhiteSpace(StateToFilterBy) && StateToFilterBy != "[Select State]") { if (!string.IsNullOrWhiteSpace(StateToFilterBy) && StateToFilterBy != "[Select State]") { query = query.Where(s => s.STATE == StateToFilterBy).OrderBy(s => s.WTWY_NAME); MyQuery.Text = "No Tonnage State No WW"; } } else { LoadAllData(); MyQuery.Text = "No Tonnage No State No WW"; } } } } } LoadOperation<MASTER_DOCKS> loadOp = this.QDocksContext.Load(query); DocksGrid.ItemsSource = loadOp.Entities; }

  • ExpandableListView.setAdapter() throws IllegalStateException

    - by vijay
    I am getting the following exception: java.lang.IllegalStateException: get field slot from row 0 col -1 failed when I call setAdapter() on my ExpandableListView. Can someone please help me fix this problem? (I have already wasted 2 days :( ) Cursor mCursor = tasksListCursor(); Log.i("ChronicleTaskList", "rowcount: "+mCursor.getCount()); startManagingCursor(mCursor); boolean flag = mCursor.moveToFirst(); while (flag) { // This loop executes fine. long id = mCursor.getLong(mCursor.getColumnIndexOrThrow(ChronicleDb.KEY_ID)); String name = mCursor.getString(mCursor.getColumnIndexOrThrow(ChronicleDb.KEY_NAME)); long from = mCursor.getLong(mCursor.getColumnIndexOrThrow(ChronicleDb.KEY_FROM)); long to = mCursor.getLong(mCursor.getColumnIndexOrThrow(ChronicleDb.KEY_TO)); Log.i("ChronicleTaskList", id + ", "+ name+ ", "+ from+ ", "+to); flag = mCursor.moveToNext(); } String[] grpFromCols = { ChronicleDb.KEY_NAME}; int[] grpToVals = { R.id.cGroupRowTextName }; String[] fromCols = { TasksDbAdapter.KEY_TODODATE, TasksDbAdapter.KEY_NAME }; int[] toVals = { R.id.textViewDate2, R.id.taskRowTextTask }; ChronicleTreeListAdapterSimple adapter = new ChronicleTreeListAdapterSimple(this, mCursor, R.layout.c_group_row, grpFromCols, grpToVals, R.layout.task_row2, fromCols, toVals, true); expandableListView.setAdapter(adapter); The last line throws the exception. And the Adapter looks like this: public class ChronicleTreeListAdapterSimple extends SimpleCursorTreeAdapter { protected static String TAG = "ChronicleTreeListAdapter"; public ChronicleTreeListAdapterSimple( ChronicleTaskList context, Cursor cursor, int groupLayout, String[] groupFrom, int[] groupTo, int childLayout, String[] childFrom, int[] childTo, boolean showGroupName) { super(context, cursor, groupLayout, groupFrom, groupTo, childLayout, childFrom, childTo); taskList = context; }

  • better understanding of getline() and cin

    - by numerical25
    Trying to get some basic understanding of console functionalities. I am having issues so consider the following... #include "stdafx.h" #include<iostream> #include<conio.h> using namespace std; /* This is a template Project */ void MultiplicationTable(int x); int main() { int value = 0; printf("Please enter any number \n\n"); getline(cin, value); MultiplicationTable(value); getchar(); return 0; } I actually based this off code from http://www.cplusplus.com/doc/tutorial/basic_io/ . My IDE is not recognizing getline() so of course when I compile the application. I get an error 'getline': identifier not found Now take a look at this code #include "stdafx.h" #include<iostream> #include<conio.h> using namespace std; /* This is a template Project */ void MultiplicationTable(int x); int main() { int value = 0; printf("Please enter any number \n\n"); cin>>value; MultiplicationTable(value); getchar(); return 0; } When I execute this line of code the console window opens and immediately closes. I think I a missing something about cin. I do know that it delimits spaces but I don't know what else. what should I use for input to make my life easier.

  • Synthetic click doesn't switch application's menu bar (Mac OS X)

    - by Rok
    Hi. I'm developing some sort of air mouse application for iPhone platform. This applications connects to one computer service which generates mouse events on Mac OS X. I'm generating this events with CGEventCreateMouseEvent() and CGEventPost(). But I've encountered one problem. Let's say you are using Safari and then you click on free desktop space. If you do this with regular mouse it will hide Safari's top menu bar and show Finder menu bar. But on these synthetic events it doesn't act like that. Do I have to post some other event or set some additional properties? Here is my code for mouse up, mouse down: - (void)mouseUp:(int)button { int type = (button == LEFT_BUTTON) ? kCGEventLeftMouseUp : kCGEventRightMouseUp; int mouseButton = (button == LEFT_BUTTON) ? kCGMouseButtonLeft : kCGMouseButtonRight; leftMouseDown = (button == LEFT_BUTTON) ? NO : leftMouseDown; rightMouseDown = (button == RIGHT_BUTTON) ? NO : rightMouseDown; CGEventSourceRef source = CGEventSourceCreate(kCGEventSourceStateHIDSystemState); CGEventRef event = CGEventCreateMouseEvent (source, type, CGSCurrentInputPointerPosition(), mouseButton); CGEventSetType(event, type); CGEventPost(kCGHIDEventTap, event); CFRelease(event); } - (void)mouseDown:(int)button { int type = (button == LEFT_BUTTON) ? kCGEventLeftMouseDown : kCGEventRightMouseDown; int mouseButton = (button == LEFT_BUTTON) ? kCGMouseButtonLeft : kCGMouseButtonRight; leftMouseDown = (button == LEFT_BUTTON) ? YES : leftMouseDown; rightMouseDown = (button == RIGHT_BUTTON) ? YES : rightMouseDown; CGEventSourceRef source = CGEventSourceCreate(kCGEventSourceStateHIDSystemState); CGEventRef event = CGEventCreateMouseEvent (source, type, CGSCurrentInputPointerPosition(), mouseButton); CGEventSetType(event, type); CGEventPost(kCGHIDEventTap, event); CFRelease(event); }

  • How to get from JRuby a correctly typed ruby implementation of a Java interface?

    - by Guss
    I'm trying to use JRuby (through the JSR233 interface included in JRuby 1.5) from a Java application to load a ruby implementation of a Java interface. My sample implementation looks like this: Interface: package some.package; import java.util.List; public interface ScriptDemoIf { int fibonacci(int d); List<String> filterLength(List<String> source, int maxlen); } Ruby Implementation: require 'java' include Java class ScriptDemo java_implements some.package.ScriptDemoIf java_signature 'int fibonacci(int d)' def fibonacci(d) d < 2 ? d : fibonacci(d-1) + fibonacci(d-2) end java_signature 'List<String> filterLength(List<String> source, int maxlen)' def filterLength(source, maxlen) source.find_all { |str| str.length <= maxlen } end end Class loader: public ScriptDemoIf load(String filename) throws ScriptException { ScriptEngine engine = new ScriptEngineManager().getEngineByName("jruby"); FileReader script = new FileReader(filename); try { engine.eval(new FileReader(script)); } catch (FileNotFoundException e) { throw new ScriptException("Failed to load " + filename); } return (ScriptDemoIf) m_engine.eval("ScriptDemo.new"); } (Obviously the loader is a bit more generic in real life - it doesn't assume that the implementation class name is "ScriptDemo" - this is just for simplicity). Problem - I get a class cast exception in the last line of the loader - the engine.eval() return a RubyObject type which doesn't cast down nicely to my interface. From stuff I read all over the web I was under the impression that the whole point of use java_implements in the Ruby section was for the interface implementations to be compiled in properly. What am I doing wrong?

  • Importing a C DLL's functions into a C++ program

    - by bobobobo
    I have a 3rd party library that's written in C. It exports all of its functions to a DLL. I have the .h file, and I'm trying to load the DLL from my C++ program. The first thing I tried was surrounding the parts where I #include the 3rd party lib in #ifdef __cplusplus extern "C" { #endif and, at the end #ifdef __cplusplus } // extern "C" #endif But the problem there was, all of the DLL file function linkage looked like this in their header files: a_function = (void *)GetProcAddress(dll, "a_function"); While really a_function had type int (*a_function) (int *). Apparently MSVC++ compiler doesn't like this, while MSVC compiler does not seem to mind. So I went through (brutal torture) and fixed them all to the pattern typedef int (*_a_function) (int *); _a_function a_function ; Then, to link it to the DLL code, in main(): a_function = (_a_function)GetProcAddress(dll, "a_function"); This SEEMS to make the compiler MUCH, MUCH happier, but it STILL complains with this final set of 143 errors, each saying for each of the DLL link attempts: error LNK2005: _a_function already defined in main.obj main.obj Multiple symbol definition errors.. sounds like a job for extern! SO I went and made ALL the function pointer declarations as follows: function_pointers.h typedef int (*_a_function) (int *); extern _a_function a_function ; And in a cpp file: function_pointers.cpp #include "function_pointers.h" _a_function a_function ; ALL fine and dandy.. except for linker errors now of the form: error LNK2001: unresolved external symbol _a_function main.obj Main.cpp includes "function_pointers.h", so it should know where to find each of the functions.. I am bamboozled. Does any one have any pointers to get me functional? (Pardon the pun..)

  • C++ map to track when the end of map is reached

    - by eNetik
    Currently I have a map that prints out the following map<string, map<int,int> > mapper; map<int,int>::iterator inner; map<string, map<int,int> >::iterator outer; for(outer = mapper.begin(); outer != mapper.end(); outer++){ cout<<outer->first<<": "; for(inner = outer->second.begin(); inner != outer->second.end(); inner++){ cout<<inner->first<<","<<inner->second<<","; } } As of now this prints out the following stringone: 1,2,3,4,6,7,8, stringtwo: 3,5,6,7, stringthree: 2,3,4,5, What i want it to print out is stringone: 1,2,3,4,6,7,8 stringtwo: 3,5,6,7 stringthree: 2,3,4,5 how can i check for the end of the map inside my inner map? Any help would be appreciated Thank you

  • C++, using one byte to store two variables

    - by 2di
    Hi All I am working on representation of the chess board, and I am planning to store it in 32 bytes array, where each byte will be used to store two pieces. (That way only 4 bits are needed per piece) Doing it in that way, results in a overhead for accessing particular index of the board. Do you think that, this code can be optimised or completely different method of accessing indexes can be used? c++ char getPosition(unsigned char* c, int index){ //moving pointer c+=(index>>1); //odd number if (index & 1){ //taking right part return *c & 0xF; }else { //taking left part return *c>>4; } } void setValue(unsigned char* board, char value, int index){ //moving pointer board+=(index>>1); //odd number if (index & 1){ //replace right part //save left value only 4 bits *board = (*board & 0xF0) + value; }else { //replacing left part *board = (*board & 0xF) + (value<<4); } } int main() { char* c = (char*)malloc(32); for (int i = 0; i < 64 ; i++){ setValue((unsigned char*)c, i % 8,i); } for (int i = 0; i < 64 ; i++){ cout<<(int)getPosition((unsigned char*)c, i)<<" "; if (((i+1) % 8 == 0) && (i > 0)){ cout<<endl; } } return 0; } I am equally interested in your opinions regarding chess representations, and optimisation of the method above, as a stand alone problem. Thanks a lot

  • Adding cancel ability and exception handling to async code.

    - by Rob
    I have this sample code for async operations (copied from the interwebs) public class LongRunningTask { public LongRunningTask() { //do nowt } public int FetchInt() { Thread.Sleep(2000); return 5; } } public delegate TOutput SomeMethod<TOutput>(); public class GoodPerformance { public void BeginFetchInt() { LongRunningTask lr = new LongRunningTask(); SomeMethod<int> method = new SomeMethod<int>(lr.FetchInt); // method is state object used to transfer result //of long running operation method.BeginInvoke(EndFetchInt, method); } public void EndFetchInt(IAsyncResult result) { SomeMethod<int> method = result.AsyncState as SomeMethod<int>; Value = method.EndInvoke(result); } public int Value { get; set; } } Other async approaches I tried required the aysnc page attribute, they also seemed to cancel if other page elements where actioned on (a button clicked), this approach just seemed to work. I’d like to add a cancel ability and exception handling for the longRunningTask class, but don’t erm, really know how.

  • Doesn't (didn't) Scala have automatically generated setters?

    - by Malvolio
    Google and my failing memory are both giving me hints that it does, but every attempt is coming up dry. class Y { var y = 0 } var m = new Y() m.y_(3) error: value y_ is not a member of Y Please tell me I am doing something wrong. (Also: please tell me what it is I am doing wrong.) EDIT The thing I am not doing wrong, or at least not the only thing I am doing wrong, is the way I am invoking the setter. The following things also fail, all with the same error message: m.y_ // should be a function valued expression m.y_ = (3) // suggested by Google and by Mchl f(m.y_) // where f takes Int => Unit as an argument f(m.y) // complains that I am passing in Int not a function I am doing this all through SimplyScala, because I'm too lazy and impatient to set up Scala on my tiny home machine. Hope it isn't that... And the winner is ... Fabian, who pointed out that I can't have a space between the _ and the =. I thought out why this should be and then it occurred to me: The name of the setter for y is not y_, it is y_= ! Observe: class Y { var y = 0 } var m = new Y() m.y_=(3) m.y res1: Int = 3 m.y_= error: missing arguments for method y_= in class Y; follow this method with `_` if you want to treat it as a partially applied function m.y_= ^ m.y_=_ res2: (Int) => Unit = def four(f : Int => Unit) = f(4) four(m.y_=) m.y res3: Int = 4 Another successful day on StackExchange.

  • Time taken for memcpy decreases after certain point

    - by tss
    I ve a code which increases the size of the memory(identified by a pointer) exponentially. Instead of realloc, I use malloc followed by memcpy.. Something like this.. int size=5,newsize; int *c = malloc(size*sizeof(int)); int *temp; while(1) { newsize=2*size; //begin time temp=malloc(newsize*sizeof(int)); memcpy(temp,c,size*sizeof(int)); //end time //print time in mili seconds c=temp; size=newsize; } Thus the number of bytes getting copied is increasing exponentially. The time required for this task also increases almost linearly with the increase in size. However after certain point, the time taken abruptly reduces to a very small value and then remains constant. I recorded time for similar code, copyin data(Of my own type) 5 -> 10 - 2 ms 10 -> 20 - 2 ms . . 2560 -> 5120 - 5 ms . . 20480 -> 40960 - 30 ms 40960 -> 91920 - 58 ms 367680 -> 735360 - 2 ms 735360 -> 1470720 - 2 ms 1470720 -> 2941440 - 2 ms What is the reason for this drop in time ? Does a more optimal memcpy method get called when the size is large ?

  • multiple-to-one relationship mysql, submissions

    - by Yulia
    Hello, I have the following problem. Basically I have a form with an option to submit up to 3 images. Right now, after each submission it creates 3 records for album table and 3 records for images. I need it to be one record for album and 3 for images, plus to link images to the album. I hope it all makes sense... Here is my structure. • multi-threading in MFC

    - by kiddo
    Hello all,in my application there is a small part of function,in which it will read files to get some information,the number of filecount would be utleast 50,So I thought of implementing threading.Say if the user is giving 50 files,I wanted to separate it as 5 *10, 5 thread should be created,so that each thread can handle 10 files which can speed up the process.And also from the below code you can see that some variables are common.I read some articles about threading and I am aware that only one thread should access a variable/contorl at a me(CCriticalStiuation can be used for that).For me as a beginner,I am finding hard to imlplement what I have learned about threading.Somebody please give me some idea with code shown below..thanks in advance file read function:// void CMyClass::GetWorkFilesInfo(CStringArray& dataFilesArray,CString* dataFilesB, int* check,DWORD noOfFiles,LPWSTR path) { CString cFilePath; int cIndex =0; int exceptionInd = 0; wchar_t** filesForWork = new wchar_t*[noOfFiles]; int tempCheck; int localIndex =0; for(int index = 0;index < noOfFiles; index++) { tempCheck = *(check + index); if(tempCheck == NOCHECKBOX) { *(filesForWork+cIndex) = new TCHAR[MAX_PATH]; wcscpy(*(filesForWork+cIndex),*(dataFilesB +index)); cIndex++; } else//CHECKED or UNCHECKED { dataFilesArray.Add(*(dataFilesB+index)); *(check + localIndex) = *(check + index); localIndex++; } } WorkFiles(&cFilePath,dataFilesArray,filesForWork, path, cIndex); dataFilesArray.Add(cFilePath); *(check + localIndex) = CHECKED; }

  • Extracting exported functions out of a shared lib (ubuntu)

    - by Pingu
    the title already describes my problem. I found this post, but it didn't completely answers my question. With the help of it i got this output from nm... $nm -C -g -D ./libLoggingHandler.so 000000cc A _DYNAMIC ... 000042e0 T write_str(char*, char const*, int*) 00005a78 T RingBuffer::WriteUnlock() ... 00005918 T TraceLines::GetItemSize() ... U SharedMemory::attach(int, void const*, int) ... 00003810 T TraceProfile::FindLineNr(int, int) ... 00002d40 T LoggingHandler::getLogLevel() ... U SharedResource::getSharedResourceKey(char const*, int) ... which are the exported functions? I already found a hint in this post, that the "T" indicates that its getting exported. But if i check the nm manual here, it just says T - The symbol is in the text (code) section. My questions is: Does this output give me the information which functions are exported functions (or variables)? If not, how do i get it? Greetings, Pingu

  • Java for loop with multiple incrementers

    - by user2517280
    Im writing a program which combines the RGB pixel values for 3 images, e.g. red pixel of image 1, green pixel of image 2 and blue pixel of image 3 and I want to then create a final image of it. Im using the code below, but this seems to be incrementing x2 and x3 whilst x1 is the same, i.e. not giving the right pixel value for same co-ordinate for each image. for (int x = 0; x < image.getWidth(); x++) { for (int x2 = 0; x2 < image2.getWidth(); x2++) { for (int x3 = 0; x3 < image3.getWidth(); x3++) { for (int y = 0; y < image.getHeight(); y++) { for (int y2 = 0; y2 < image2.getHeight(); y2++) { for (int y3 = 0; y3 < image3.getHeight(); y3++) { So I was wondering if anyone can tell me how to iterate through each of the 3 images on the same co-ordinate, so for example read 1, 1 of each image and record the red, green and blue value accordingly. Apologies if it doesnt make complete sense, its a bit hard to explain. I can iterate the values for one image fine but when I add in another, things start to go a bit wrong as obviously its quite a bit more complicated! I was thinking it might be easier to create an array and replace the according values in that just not sure how to do that effectively either. Thanks

  • How can I write a function template for all types with a particular type trait?

    - by TC
    Consider the following example: struct Scanner { template <typename T> T get(); }; template <> string Scanner::get() { return string("string"); } template <> int Scanner::get() { return 10; } int main() { Scanner scanner; string s = scanner.get<string>(); int i = scanner.get<int>(); } The Scanner class is used to extract tokens from some source. The above code works fine, but fails when I try to get other integral types like a char or an unsigned int. The code to read these types is exactly the same as the code to read an int. I could just duplicate the code for all other integral types I'd like to read, but I'd rather define one function template for all integral types. I've tried the following: struct Scanner { template <typename T> typename enable_if<boost::is_integral<T>, T>::type get(); }; Which works like a charm, but I am unsure how to get Scanner::get<string>() to function again. So, how can I write code so that I can do scanner.get<string>() and scanner.get<any integral type>() and have a single definition to read all integral types? Update: bonus question: What if I want to accept more than one range of classes based on some traits? For example: how should I approach this problem if I want to have three get functions that accept (i) integral types (ii) floating point types (iii) strings, respectively.

  • C++: why a self pointer of a struct automatically changes to void*

    - by Stone
    struct ptr{ int node; ptr *next; ptr(){} ptr(int _node, ptr *_next){ node=_node; next=_next; } }; struct list_t{ ptr *sht; int size; void push(int node){ size++; sht=new ptr(node,sht); } }shthead[100001], comp[200001], tree[200001]; The struct ptr is a smart pointer, be used as a linked list. But when I debug the code in gdb, I found that the ptr*'s were all converted to void*. GDB output: (gdb) pt ptr type = struct ptr { int node; void *next; public: ptr(void); ptr(int, void *); } However, I can still see the data of the struct if I covert them back to ptr* in gdb. What's the reason for this please?

I have the following code in my manager: public List<string> addTemporary(string username, string meterNaam, string readingType, string parentID) { Meter meter = new Meter(); VO_Object voObject = objectManager.getObjectByID(parentID); ObjectMeter objMeter = new ObjectMeter(); meter.readingType = (int)Enum.Parse(typeof(ReadingType), readingType); meter.isActive = true; meter.name = meterNaam; meter.startDate = DateTime.Now; meter.endDate = DateTime.Now.AddYears(6000); meter.uniqueIdentifier = "N/A"; meter.meterType = (int)Enum.Parse(typeof(MeterType), "NA"); meter.meterCategory = (int)Enum.Parse(typeof(MeterCategory), "NA"); meter.energyType = (int)Enum.Parse(typeof(EnergyType), "NA"); meter.utilityType = (int)Enum.Parse(typeof(UtilityType), "NA"); meter.unitOfMeasure = (int)Enum.Parse(typeof(UnitOfMeasure), "NA"); objMeter.valid_from = meter.startDate; objMeter.valid_until = meter.endDate; objMeter.Meter = meter; objMeter.VO_Object = voObject; createMeter(meter); List<String> str = new List<string>(); str.Add("" + meter.meterID); str.Add(meter.name); return str; } and this in my Dao Class which links to the database: internal void CreateMeter(Meter _meter) { _entities.AddToMeter(_meter); _entities.SaveChanges(); } Can someone please explain this error?   • C# specifying generic delegate type param at runtime

    - by smerlin
    following setup, i have several generic functions, and i need to choose the type and the function identified by two strings at runtime. my first try looked like this: public static class FOOBAR { public delegate void MyDelegateType(int param); public static void foo<T>(int param){...} public static void bar<T>(int param){...} public static void someMethod(string methodstr, string typestr) { MyDelegateType mydel; Type mytype; switch(typestr) { case "int": mytype = typeof(int); break; case "double": mytype = typeof(double); break; default: throw new InvalidTypeException(typestr); } switch(methodstr) { case "foo": mydel = foo<mytype>; //error break; case "bar": mydel = bar<mytype>; //error break; default: throw new InvalidTypeException(methodstr); } for(int i=0; i<1000; ++i) mydel(i); } } since this didnt work, i nested those switchs (a methodstr switch inside the typestr switch or viceversa), but that solution is really ugly and unmaintainable. The number of types is pretty much fixed, but the number of functions like foo or bar will increase by high numbers, so i dont want nested switchs. So how can i make this working without using nested switchs ?

  • Question on SQL Grouping

    - by Lijo
    Hi Team, I am trying to achieve the following without using sub query. For a funding, I would like to select the latest Letter created date and the ‘earliest worklist created since letter created’ date for a funding. FundingId Leter (1, 1/1/2009 )(1, 5/5/2009) (1, 8/8/2009) (2, 3/3/2009) FundingId WorkList (1, 5/5/2009 ) (1, 9/9/2009) (1, 10/10/2009) (2, 2/2/2009) Expected Result - FundingId Leter WorkList (1, 8/8/2009, 9/9/2009) I wrote a query as follows. It has a bug. It will omit those FundingId for which the minimum WorkList date is less than latest Letter date (even though it has another worklist with greater than letter created date). CREATE TABLE #Funding( [Funding_ID] [int] IDENTITY(1,1) NOT NULL, [Funding_No] [int] NOT NULL, CONSTRAINT [PK_Center_Center_ID] PRIMARY KEY NONCLUSTERED ([Funding_ID] ASC) ) ON [PRIMARY] CREATE TABLE #Letter( [Letter_ID] [int] IDENTITY(1,1) NOT NULL, [Funding_ID] [int] NOT NULL, [CreatedDt] [SMALLDATETIME], CONSTRAINT [PK_Letter_Letter_ID] PRIMARY KEY NONCLUSTERED ([Letter_ID] ASC) ) ON [PRIMARY] CREATE TABLE #WorkList( [WorkList_ID] [int] IDENTITY(1,1) NOT NULL, [Funding_ID] [int] NOT NULL, [CreatedDt] [SMALLDATETIME], CONSTRAINT [PK_WorkList_WorkList_ID] PRIMARY KEY NONCLUSTERED ([WorkList_ID] ASC) ) ON [PRIMARY] SELECT F.Funding_ID, Funding_No, MAX (L.CreatedDt), MIN(W.CreatedDt) FROM #Funding F INNER JOIN #Letter L ON L.Funding_ID = F.Funding_ID LEFT OUTER JOIN #WorkList W ON W.Funding_ID = F.Funding_ID GROUP BY F.Funding_ID,Funding_No HAVING MIN(W.CreatedDt) MAX (L.CreatedDt) How can I write a correct query without using subquery? Please help Thanks Lijo

  • MidiSystem.getSequencer() returns Audio Device Unavailable

    - by ksemeks
    I've keep having an exception thrown, on and on. When i try to make a new Sequencer object, i keep getting the javax.sound.midi.MidiUnavailableException: Audio Device Unavailable exception. So, here's the code: import javax.sound.midi.*; public class MiniMusicPlayer1 { public static void main(String[] args) { try { Sequencer sequencer = MidiSystem.getSequencer(); sequencer.open(); Sequence seq = new Sequence(Sequence.PPQ, 4); Track track = seq.createTrack(); for (int i = 5; i < 61; i += 4) { track.add(makeEvent(144, 1, i, 100, i)); track.add(makeEvent(128, 1, i, 100, (i+2))); } sequencer.setSequence(seq); sequencer.setTempoInBPM(220); sequencer.start(); } catch (Exception e) { e.printStackTrace(); } } public static MidiEvent makeEvent(int comd, int chan, int one, int two, int tick) { MidiEvent event = null; try { ShortMessage a = new ShortMessage(); a.setMessage(comd, chan, one, two); event = new MidiEvent(a, tick); } catch (Exception e) { e.printStackTrace(); } return event; } } And here's the complete error (at compile): javax.sound.midi.MidiUnavailableException: Audio Device Unavailable at com.sun.media.sound.MixerSynth.implOpen(MixerSynth.java:165) at com.sun.media.sound.AbstractMidiDevice.doOpen(AbstractMidiDevice.java:144) at com.sun.media.sound.AbstractMidiDevice.openInternal(AbstractMidiDevice.java:134) at com.sun.media.sound.AbstractMidiDevice.getReceiverReferenceCounting(AbstractMidiDevice.java:339) at javax.sound.midi.MidiSystem.getReceiver(MidiSystem.java:243) at javax.sound.midi.MidiSystem.getSequencer(MidiSystem.java:442) at javax.sound.midi.MidiSystem.getSequencer(MidiSystem.java:348) at MiniMusicPlayer1.main(MiniMusicPlayer1.java:9) First i was unable to play MIDI files on my pc, but then i got it to work, so now i can play MIDI files, that's okay. I tried even to close every process which uses my sound card, but the error is still there. Anyone can help me?

  • Conditional WHERE Clauses in SQL Server 2008

    - by user336786
    Hello, I am trying to execute a query on a table in my SQL Server 2008 database. I have a stored procedure that uses five int parameters. Currently, my parameters are defined as follows: @memberType int, @color int, @preference int, @groupNumber int, @departmentNumber int This procedure will be passed -1 or higher for each parameter. A value of -1 means that the WHERE clause should not consider that parameter in the join/clause. If the value of the parameter is greater than -1, I need to consider the value in my WHERE clause. I would prefer to NOT use an IF-ELSE statement because it seems sloppy for this case. I saw this question here. However, it did not work for me. I think the reason why is because each of the columns in my table can have a NULL value. Someone pointed this scenario out in the fifth answer. That appears to be happening to me. Is there a slick approach to my question? Or do I just need to brute force it (I hope not :(). Thank you!

  • C++: Declare static variable in function argument list

    - by MDC
    Is there any way at all in C++ to declare a static variable while passing it to a function? I'm looking to use a macro to expand to the expression passed to the function. The expression needs to declare and initialize a static variable on that particular line (based on the filename and line number using FILE and LINE). int foo(int b) { int c = b + 2; return c; } int main() { int a = 3; a = foo(static int h = 2); //<---- see this! cout << a; return 0; } The problem I'm trying to solve is getting the filename and line number with the FILE and LINE macros provided by the preprocessor, but then creating a lookup table with integer keys leading to the FILE, LINE pairs. For example, the key 89 may map to file foo.cpp, line 20. To get this to work, I'm trying to use local static variables, so that they are initialized only once per line execution. The static variable will be initialized by calling a function that calculates the integer key and adds an entry to the lookup table if it is not there. Right now the program uses a message class to send exception information. I'm writing a macro to wrap this class into a new class: WRAPPER_MACRO(old_class_object) will expand to NewClass(old_class_object, key_value). If I add the static variable declaration as a second line right before this, it should work. The problem is that in most places in the code, the old class object is passed as an argument to a function. So the problem becomes declaring and initializing the static variable somehow with the macro, while keeping the existing function calls.
