  hi, I'm using magento 1.4.0 and when I try to get to magento connect and download a plugin the page will say Error: Please check for sufficient write file permissions Your Magento folder does not have sufficient write permissions, which this web based downloader requires. If you wish to proceed downloading Magento packages online, please set all Magento folders to have writable permission for the web server user (example: apache) and press the "Refresh" button to try again. does anyone know how I can fix this problem, thanks Update: the plugin I'm trying to use is MagentoPycho light box so I unpacked the folder into the app/code/local but it still doesn't show in the admin area

• Task ownership with Wordpress - CSS - Designer or Developer?

  We have a dispute regarding who owns which tasks when it comes to the CSS on our live site. Our designer argues that he is not responsible to log-in to word press and modify the css or use ftp for any changes because that's not his job description while developer argues that since it is css, it belongs to designer and that he is to update the changes to the server and then compare and correct the output. I'd like experienced people working in professional development environment to put a light on this scenario. I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask this question, or is there a separate forum for business development or project management specific questions?

• Apple Aluminum Keyboard Via Bluetooth - Fn Key Problem

  I'm connecting an Apple Bluetooth Aluminum keyboard (this one) to my Lubuntu setup using the blueman applet. The keyboard types fine, but I would like to use its fn key to change screen brightness changing, page-up (fn+ctrl+down), page-down (fn+ctrl+up), et cetera. Right now the fn key doesn't seem to work. When I use xev, I don't see anything happen when I press fn. Does the keyboard not send this to the computer at all? Do I need to configure blueman's "Input Service" setting to make this an Apple (rather than a generic) keyboard? (It's not obvious how to do this.) Is xev just not showing the fn key? Where in this stack of software do I need to make a change to achieve the desired behaviour? Thanks!

For Rails 2, you can see the answer to "How do I use long IDs in Rails?"1 In Rails 3, however, this will throw an error. I'm not sure if that's because the class is no long used, or if the code needs to go in the same place. You can see in active_record/connection_adapters/mysql_adapter.rb that the NATIVE_DATABASE_TYPES constant is still defined. What's the correct way to achieve the same effect in Rails 3?

• Black screen after installing ubuntu 12.04

  :) After installing Ubuntu 12.04 from a CD, everything goes perfectly until I restart the computer (after the installation process) im not able to see the login screen, I just get a black screen! so I press randomly keys and sometimes im able to see the background wallpaper but almost instantly the black screen appears. I think that I have to update the nVidia drivers or something like this I tried to start from the recovery mode, update my package, but still the same problem I can't start with the graphical interface as well, i get an error message 'no screen' !! I dont understand why I have this problem because before the installation im able to try ubuntu (from the cd) and works perfect. Thanks !!

• ubuntu 12.04 install black screen

  When I try to install Ubuntu 12.04 i get the grub 1.99 screen that allows me to select ubuntu install, or try ubuntu with out installing. When i select install ubuntu the screen goes black and i can tell the hard drive is running, but there are no on screen prompts. I looked into this problem and attempted to change a few variables by pressing "e" to edit the ubuntu install boot screen I then changed splash to nospash, quiet to noquiet, and add nomodeset at the end of the line that starts with linux before the "--". This still changes nothing when i press F10 to boot. I have tried removing quiet and splash altogether and adding nomodeset, but still to no avail. I am a little frustrated and don't know what to do. Any help would be greatly appreciated! • How do I know if have RSI or carpal tunnel?

  I feel that this is a much better place to ask this than a medical forum, we have ~250 people who spent most of their day in front of a computer. Does anyone here have any experience with such injuries? How/when did you find out? What did you do (if anything)? I don't know if I have the RSI, but I can tell you that I can "crack" my wrist and almost any one of my fingers whenever I want. Also, my wrist sometimes hurts me when I type for a very long time (especially on a laptop keyboard I have very long fingers so the palm is in an uncomfortable position most of the time) Is this normal? I bought a Logitech Wave keyboard, obviously it feels much better than the laptop keyboard, but I can't really tell if it helps the "cracking" and my wrist still sometimes hurts.

• Rhythmbox goes crazy if I change keyboard layout

  Not so trivial to explain but I'll try. Launch Rhythmbox Insert a CD in the CD-ROM The CD is not automatically identified (it's of a not very famous Russian band) I'm manually setting track names and... Magic, black magic! If I change the keyboard layout (RU <- EN) during editing then Rhythmbox kicks me out of the editing. So if a track name contains both Russian and English words I'm compelled to write one part, press Enter (so that the changes are not lost), change layout, click on the track name, write another part in the opposite layout. In some tricky names I have to do this several times. By the way, I use Alt+Shift to change layout. Any ideas?

  Hello, I am working on an Excel application that queries a SQL database. The queries can take a long time to run (20-40 min). If I've miss-coded something it can take a long time to error or reach a break point. I can save the results to a sheet fine, it's when I am working with the record sets that things can blow up. Is there a way to load the data into a ADODB.Recordset when I'm debugging to skip querying the database (after the first time)?   I have to come up with a way to get data from a SQL server table given it's month There's a smalldatetime type field called "date" in the "events" table and a field from it looks like this: 29/01/2003 17:00:00 It should be one among those that appear in the gridview when I select jan/03 in a given DropDownList control in ASP.NET. What would be the best way to do this? Assuming I only want to go as long as 10 years to the past, wouldn't making a dictionary be a good way? How do I change it so the top month is always the current, and each month another options appeaars in the dropdown ? It should be a common issue, so that shall not be a trick, but I want a good and clean way of doing this, and (since I'm new to asp.net) I myself would come up with something messy after a long time trying. • synchronizing audio over a network

  I'm in startup of designing a client/server audio system which can stream audio arbitrarily over a network. One central server pumps out an audio stream and x number of clients receives the audio data and plays it. So far no magic needed and I have even got this scenario to work with VLC media player out of the box. However, the tricky part seems to be synchronizing the audio playback so that all clients are in audible synch (actual latency can be allowed as long as it is perceived to be in sync by a human listener). My question is if there's any known method or algorithm to use for these types of synchronization problems (video is probably solved the same way). My own initial thoughts centers around synchronizing clocks between physical machines and thereby creating a virtual "main timer" and somehow aligning audio data packets against it. • How to bind mouse buttons to keys?

  I have a Logitech MX400 Laser Mouse which has 5 buttons + 4 for vertical/horizontal scrolling. I would like it set up so instead of horizontal scrolling pressing right on the scrollwheel will send Ctrl+Tab and left will send Ctrl+Shift+Tab, which will allow me to cycle through tabs in browsers. Also, it would be nice if I could remap the middle button to one of the ones on the side as it is really hard to press down. Another bonus would be if I could write a script that allows me to define what buttons do what dependent on which window is currently active. I have tried using xmodmap but I could only see how to rearrange buttons, not have them send key signals. Thanks in advance. • How to customize the gnome classic panel

  First the picture: As you can see in the image, the color used for the icons and words Applications and Places (In spanish in this case) they have a different background dark gray color than the rest of the panel. Also the icons look rather bigger in that panel. Now my questions are: Can the background colors be customized so they look the same all the way in the panel. Can the icons be somehow minimized a little so they do not look strange (bigger actually) How to edit the way to add icons to the panel. I have to actually have to press the ALT key then right click on it to add something. That extra key is not friendly at all. In this particular case am trying to help an older man start in Ubuntu. Unity is too much for him but Gnome is friendlier for him (Learning curve is not the best for older people.. specially 68+ year old people).
