  • Web page looks good in FF but every other browser hates it

    I am trying to make my own website and it was comming along quite nicely. It looked beautiful in firefox when opened and worked wonderfully. But then I run it in any other browser... and it screwes up... how can I fix this? IE especially hates it =[ you just gota see it to know what I'm talking about so here is the link http://opentech.durhamcollege.ca/~intn2201/brittains/chatter/ please give solutions that don't involve javascript.     I know that PHP is still the most popular web programming language in the world. This question just want to bring some of my concerns about PHP. PHP is naturally bound to C10K problem. Since PHP (generally run in Apache) cannot be event-driven or asynchronous, each HTTP request will occupy at least one thread or process. This makes it resistant to be more scalable. Currently, a lot of web sites (like Facebook) with high performance and scalability still depends on PHP in their front end servers. I suppose it is due to legacy reason. Is it possible that PHP will be replaced by language more suitable for C10K?

  • IE6 SELECT HTML tag causes rest of page to vanish

    The following HTML does not work in IE6 for me: <html><body>This text is visible.<textarea>This too.</textarea> This is not visible. <select><option value="a">A</option><option value="b">B</option></select> Neither is this. <textarea>Nor this.</textarea> Nor this. </body></html> In IE6, every time I put a select drop-down in the code, everything thereafter dissappears (and some before too, as you can see). All texts are visible in both IE8 and Firefox. Is this a known bug on IE6? Could it have something to do with Windows 7? Or could it be my installation of Internet Explorer Collection 1.6.0.6 that is flawed?

    I'm following the steps very well described here http://stackoverflow.com/a/18399927/2510225 , but, from my server, I receive the following error: {"error":{"message":"The access token does not belong to application APP-ID","type":"OAuthException","code":1}} I can't figure what I'm doing wrong. Anyone knows if the process to get a permanent access token has changed, or is having the same issue? The access token I'm using in the request is the user access token, which I think is correct.

  • Google Translation API not working for even one page long documents

    I'm using Google Translation API to translate text from Chinese Simplified to English in my C# program. The problem is if the text is small (around one line) the API is able to translate it, but if the text is larger (more than 3 lines) is gives an exception saying "The remote server returned an unexpected response: (414) Request-URI Too Large.". However if I use translate.google.com in my browser that works fine. Please tell me how can I process large documents using Google Translate API in my desktop application written in C#.

  • Spawning Process Never Finishes on ASP.NET Page

    The code below spawns the process and sits forever, never finishing. It doesn't matter what process I run. If I use delegates it doesn't work either. It just hangs up in my dev and on the test enviornment. Also, if I use Shell with Wait it does the same thing. If I set wait to false in either approach it works just fine. It's ASP.NET 2.0 VB.NET DotNetNuke 4.0 on Windows Server 2003. I can't even phathom why this would hang up. UPDATE: It causes the CPU to throttle up but it's not running anything. It's like there's something weird going on in the threading.     tracert mojpacient.si return over a maximum of 30 hops: 1 <1 ms <1 ms <1 ms 89-212-252-73.static.t-2.net [89.212.252.73] but if in browser i run www.mojpacient.si when i am connected to server i get connection timeout. If i am out of local network then i can connect to mojpacient.si Does anyone have any idea how is this possible and what is wrong. I suspect IIS7 but do not know what in IIS7.

    Users of my service includes a JS in their pages that I provide. I am hosting the script they are including. My script does some manipulation on their content. I am sick of writing my own DOM manipulators/selectors and wasting hours for jobs that can be done with 1 line of code if I can use jQuery. Some of the users of my service already uses jQuery (or Prototype etc.) on their pages, so if I include jQuery there will be a conflict. Because there will be version differences, I don't want to use their jQuery selectors, methods either in case jQuery exists. Keeping in mind that I have no control over their pages, how can I include jQuery and avoid conflict?

    I have a big problem. I have some applications made on an unix based system, and I use PHP with cURL to post an XML question to an IIS server with asp.net. For example all elements take the styles if the #nav a styles. Is there something I'm missing here? I'm new to web design.

I have an link which animates some div-s height when its hovered... but div has big height and it goes beyond the visible bottom end of the screen so i have to scroll to see the data and when i scroll I leave the hover area and so the div toggles it's height to 0px... how to make automatic scroll to the end of the div when it toggles...     I have a Table and a Button. Table's cells have controls LiteralControl and CheckBox. I check some fields and then by click on button i remove these fields from database. On event Page_PreRender i clear Table and then fill it with updated data. Then it shows me Table with updated data. But if i check fields of table again and do a click on a button it wont do what i expected. In Page_Load event i see that it dont save properties of controls. Checked CheckBox controls appears as unchecked.

    Hi where js folder is under the root. if u put this JS ref in common\SomeControl.ascx, it will work fine if SomeControl is placed on ~/SomePage.aspx because SomePage is under the website root. How to put JS ref in SomeControl and allow it to be placed at any path on the website without losing the JS ref. Thanks

I am using ie6 and am basically trying to center the unordered list on the screen but at the same time want the actual list item text aligned to the left. At the moment, I have my unordered list within the center tags, which has centered the list but I would actually like to now left align the actual list item text.     I have question to Java or C# programmers. I want to render some pages in various browsers mainly Firefox and IE and save it as a picture. I have not any serious experience in Java/.Net. Is there any libs/tools for such tasks? I thought about some FF extensions for example but I don't know how to do it in IE. Is the in .Net some libs for dealing with it? Maybe some ActiveX? Any sugestions?

    I've made a script which copies the ALT-tag of an image and puts it into a SPAN. It also formates the information devided by a hyphen. It works like a charm, but only with one image. Further more, I would like it to wrap a div around the image, to prevent unnecessary markup, as I have now.     I'm using custom WordPress categories for some probably unintended functions, I will admit (things like marking a post no/index just by adding it to my custom "no-index" category, etc). But it sucks that WordPress does not enable pages with all the little extras you get with posts. For example, while the post editor gives you convenient access to Tags, Categories, and a Post excerpt field, pages get left out in the cold. I'd like to know if its possible to add the These items to the Post editor via add_action() directive from a custom theme.
