  • Grails Domain.get() returns null for mongo's ObjectId

    - by Shashank Agrawal
I'm using grails 2.3.5 with mongodb 3.0.1 and no hibernate installed. I've a domain class which uses mongo's ObjectId. import org.bson.types.ObjectId class Category { ObjectId id String name } And has a record in mongo database: { "_id": ObjectId("53f6c34c33a429240e2ab471"), "name": "art", "version": NumberLong("41") } When I do, Category.get(new ObjectId("53f6c34c33a429240e2ab471")) somewhere in grails app, it returns null but when I do Category.get("53f6c34c33a429240e2ab471") it then actually returns the result. Why, get() method does not process ObjectId type?

  • Stop duplicates from being added to an array of Ruby objects

    - by Dom
how can I eliminate duplicate elements from an array of ruby objects using an attribute of the object to match identical objects. with an array of basic types I can use a set.. eg. array_list = [1, 3, 4 5, 6, 6] array_list.to_set => [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6] can I adapt this technique to work with object attributes? thanks

  • [C++] Multiple inheritance from template class

    - by Tom P.
Hello, I'm having issues with multiple inheritance from different instantiations of the same template class. Specifically, I'm trying to do this: template <class T> class Base { public: Base() : obj(NULL) { } virtual ~Base() { if( obj != NULL ) delete obj; } template <class T> T* createBase() { obj = new T(); return obj; } protected: T* obj; }; class Something { // ... }; class SomethingElse { // ... }; class Derived : public Base<Something>, public Base<SomethingElse> { }; int main() { Derived* d = new Derived(); Something* smth1 = d->createBase<Something>(); SomethingElse* smth2 = d->createBase<SomethingElse>(); delete d; return 0; } When I try to compile the above code, I get the following errors: 1>[...](41) : error C2440: '=' : cannot convert from 'SomethingElse *' to 'Something *' 1> Types pointed to are unrelated; conversion requires reinterpret_cast, C-style cast or function-style cast 1> [...](71) : see reference to function template instantiation 'T *Base<Something>::createBase<SomethingElse>(void)' being compiled 1> with 1> [ 1> T=SomethingElse 1> ] 1>[...](43) : error C2440: 'return' : cannot convert from 'Something *' to 'SomethingElse *' 1> Types pointed to are unrelated; conversion requires reinterpret_cast, C-style cast or function-style cast The issue seems to be ambiguity due to member obj being inherited from both Base< Something and Base< SomethingElse , and I can work around it by disambiguating my calls to createBase: Something* smth1 = d->Base<Something>::createBase<Something>(); SomethingElse* smth2 = d->Base<SomethingElse>::createBase<SomethingElse>(); However, this solution is dreadfully impractical, syntactically speaking, and I'd prefer something more elegant. Moreover, I'm puzzled by the first error message. It seems to imply that there is an instantiation createBase< SomethingElse in Base< Something , but how is that even possible? Any information or advice regarding this issue would be much appreciated.

  • Getting ORACLE programming object definitions

    - by Yaakov Davis
Let's say I have an ORACLE schema with contains a package. That package defines types, functions, procedures, etc: CREATE PACKAGE... DECLARE FUNCTION ... PROCEDURE ... END; Is there a query I can execute to get the definitions of those individual objects, without the wrapping package?

  • Nesting arbitrary objects in Java

    - by user1502381
I am having trouble solving a particular problem in Java (which I did not find by search). I do not know how to create a nested lists of objects - with a different type of object/primitive type at the end. For example: *Note: only an example. I am actually doing this below with something other than Employee, but it serves as simple example. I have an array of an object Employee. It contains information on the Employee. public class Employee { int age int salary int yearsWorking public Employee () { // constructor... } // Accessors } What I need to do is organize the Employees by quantiles/percentiles. I have done so by the following: import org.apache.commons.math.stat.descriptive.rank.Percentile; public class EmployeeSort { public void main(String args[]) { Percentile p = new Percentile(); Employee[] employeeArray = new Employee(100); // filled employeeArray double[] ageArray new double[100]; // filled ageArray with ages from employeeArray int q = 25; // Percentile cutoff for (int i = 1; i*q < 100; i++) { // assign percentile cutoff to some array to contain the values } } } Now, the problem I have is that I need to organize the Employees first by the percentiles of age, then percentiles of yearsWorking, and finally by percentiles of salary. My Java knowledge is inadequate right now to solve this problem, but the project I was handed was in Java. I am primarily a python guy, so this problem would have been a lot easier in that language. No such luck.

  • Do you find java.util.logging sufficient?

    - by Yuval A
Per the title, do you find the default Java logging framework sufficient for your needs? Do you use alternative logging services such as log4j or others? If so, why? I'd like to hear any advice you have regarding logging requirements in different types of projects, and when integrating frameworks is actually necessary and/or useful.

  • Regular Expression problem

    - by Yatendra Goel
I want a regex to find the following types of strings: http://anything.abc.tld http://anything.abc.tld/ where abc - abc always remains abc anything - it could be any string tld - it could be any tld (top-level-domain) like .com .net .co.in .co.uk etc. Note: The url must not contain any other thing at the end, means http://anything.abc.tld/xyz is not acceptable.

  • Go - Generic function using an interface

    - by nevalu
Since I've a similar function for 2 different data types: func GetStatus(value uint8) (string) {...} func GetStatus(name string) (string) {...} I would want to use a way more simple like: func GetStatus(value interface{}) (string) {...} Is possible to create a generic function using an interface? The data type could be checked using reflect.Typeof(value)

  • Lotus view column compare to string/integer

    - by Kris.Mitchell
I have a lotus view that stores a number. I need to perform some math against the value, but I am having a lot of problems getting the types to match up. doc.numOfGold = numGold and CInt(doc.numOfGold) = numGold and CInt(doc.numOfGold) = CInt(numGold) and doc.numOfGold = CInt(numGold) all return type mismatch. I've tried changing the column properties to treat it as a decimal, with no better luck. Any thoughts? Thanks!

  • empty sharepoint user profile property throw an exception

    - by James123
I have a user profile property. user not assigned any value that property. If I use below code. It is thorwing exception " object reference not set to an instance of an object " userprof["OptOut"].ToString() I tried all types like if (userprof["OptOut"] != null) OR if(userprof["OptOut"].Value != null) nothing worked out for me. Here userProf object has value. userprof["OptOut"].Value is null How to handle this?

  • convert json string into array or object...

    - by qulzam
I get some json data form the web which is like: [{"pk": 1, "model": "stock.item", "fields": {"style": "f/s", "name": "shirt", "color": "red", "sync": 1, "fabric_code": "0012", "item_code": "001", "size": "34"}}, {"pk": 2, "model": "stock.item", "fields": {"style": "febric", "name": "Trouser", "color": "red", "sync": 1, "fabric_code": "fabric code", "item_code": "0123", "size": "44"}}] How can i use it in the C# winforms desktop application. I already get this data in the form of string. All types of answer are welcome.

  • C# wrapper for objects

    - by Haggai
I'm looking for a way to create a generic wrapper for any object. The wrapper object will behave just like the class it wraps, but will be able to have more properties, variable, methods etc., for e.g. object counting, caching etc. Say the wrapper class be called Wrapper, and the class to be wrapped be called Square and has the constructor Square(double edge_len) and the properties/methods EdgeLength and Area, I would like to use it as follows: Wrapper<Square> mySquare = new Wrapper<Square>(2.5); /* or */ new Square(2.5); Console.Write("Edge {0} -> Area {1}", mySquare.EdgeLength, mySquare.Area); Obviously I can create such a wrapper class for each class I want to wrap, but I'm looking for a general solution, i.e. Wrapper<T> which can handle both primitive and compound types (although in my current situation I would be happy with just wrapping my own classes). Suggestions? Thanks.

  • Indirect load of type fails in PowerShell

    - by Dan
When invoking [System.Configuration.ConfigurationManager]::GetSection("MySection") from within a PowerShell prompt, it throws an exception because the assembly containing the type represented by "MySection" in the app config is unable to be loaded. However, I have previously loaded the assembly containing that type, and I am even able to instantiate the type directly using 'new-object'. How is the ConfigurationManager resolving types such that the assemblies already loaded into the PowerShell app domain are not visible to it?

  • How to declare ASP classic constants to a data type?

    - by Guy
In asp classic and vbscript, you can declare a Const with a hexidecial value, and a date type value: Const C_LIGHTCYAN = &hCCFFEE Const C_STARTDATE = #1 JAN 2000# But how can I declare currency, single or doubles data types? Const C_LONG = 1024 '# I want this to be a LONG, not an INT! I'm sure I've seen something like Const C_LNG = L12345 or some other prefix/suffix combination for longs or doubles but can't find the source now

  • Scala Hoogle equivalent?

    - by Alexey Romanov
Hoogle allows you to search many standard Haskell libraries by either function name, or by approximate type signature. I find it very useful. Is there anything like Hoogle for Scala? Search in ScalaDoc 2 only finds types and packages by name.

  • Understanding C++ pointers (when they point to a pointer)

    - by Stephano
I think I understand references and pointers pretty well. Here is what I (think I) know: int i = 5; //i is a primitive type, the value is 5, i do not know the address. int *ptr; //a pointer to an int. i have no way if knowing the value yet. ptr = &i; //now i have an address for the value of i (called ptr) *ptr = 10; //go get the value stored at ptr and change it to 10 Please feel free to comment or correct these statements. Now I'm trying to make the jump to arrays of pointers. Here is what I do not know: char **char_ptrs = new char *[50]; Node **node_ptrs = new Node *[50]; My understanding is that I have 2 arrays of pointers, one set of pointers to chars and one to nodes. So if I wanted to set the values, I would do something like this: char_ptrs[0] = new char[20]; node_ptrs[0] = new Node; Now I have a pointer, in the 0 position of my array, in each respective array. Again, feel free to comment here if I'm confused. So, what does the ** operator do? Likewise, what is putting a single * next to the instantiation doing (*[50])? (what is that called exactly, instantiation?)

  • In Android OS or Java, what's the difference between a character sequence and a string????

    - by K-RAN
For the API (Android SDK API version 8) functions whose definitions list character sequence parameters, I can feed the function String instead. Best part is that they work the same way, no hassle, no warnings. Is there a difference between the two types? And more importantly, is there an inherent danger if I send the function a String instead of a character sequence??? Thanks for any clarifications!!! :D

  • OrderBy Linq.Expression as parameter = (Of Func(Of T,IComparable)) to perform LinqToEntity is not working

    - by NicoJuicy
I'd like to get this working: Call: (Count & Page are used for pagination, so Count = 20 and Page = 1 for example, for the first 20 values). Sorting should be by name LeverancierService.GetLeveranciers(Function(el) el.Name, Count, Page) Equivalent in c#: LeverancierService.GetLeveranciers(el= el.Name, Count, Page) Method that gives an error (parameters shown above): Public Overridable Function GetAllPaged(orderby As Expression(Of Func(Of T, IComparable)), ByVal Count As Integer, ByVal Page As Integer) As IEnumerable(Of T) Return dbset.OrderBy(orderby).Skip((Page - 1) * Count).Take(Count).ToList() End Function Already tried changing it to this, but it gives the same error: Public Overridable Function GetAllPaged(Of TOrderBy)(orderby As Expression(Of Func(Of T, TOrderBy)), ByVal Count As Integer, ByVal Page As Integer) As IEnumerable(Of T) Return dbset.OrderBy(orderby).Skip((Page - 1) * Count).Take(Count).ToList() End Function Error: Unable to cast the type 'System.String' to type 'System.IComparable'. LINQ to Entities only supports casting Entity Data Model primitive types. Any idea how to do this? Extra info: I'm in a DDD-layered application, so the parameter should stay the same as the called method is an overridden interface (eg. if i change this, i have to do this for 200 times or so, because it's in VB.Net and not in C# (= 1 change) ) I know there is a way to change the expression to a string and then use DLinq (= Dynamic Linq), but that's not how it should be.

  • How to initialize const float32x4x4_t (ARM NEON intrinsic, GCC) ?

    - by Eonil

I think I know what a build is. But I am not sure. My definition of a build is another word for saying compiled application. Can someone please tell me what exactly a build is. And why do people ask for 2 types of builds. Such as Debug Build, Profile Build and a Release Build. What are the differences.

  • Using static variables for Strings

    - by Vivart
below content is taken from Best practice: Writing efficient code but i didn't understand why private static String x = "example"; faster than private static final String x ="example"; Can anybody explain this. Using static variables for Strings When you define static fields (also called class fields) of type String, you can increase application speed by using static variables (not final) instead of constants (final). The opposite is true for primitive data types, such as int. For example, you might create a String object as follows: private static final String x = "example"; For this static constant (denoted by the final keyword), each time that you use the constant, a temporary String instance is created. The compiler eliminates "x" and replaces it with the string "example" in the bytecode, so that the BlackBerry® Java® Virtual Machine performs a hash table lookup each time that you reference "x". In contrast, for a static variable (no final keyword), the String is created once. The BlackBerry JVM performs the hash table lookup only when it initializes "x", so access is faster. private static String x = "example"; You can use public constants (that is, final fields), but you must mark variables as private.
