    I am getting the following error, which I don't understand: Error 1 The command "xcopy "D:\Users\johndoe\Documents\Visual Studio 2008\Projects\MyProject\MyProject.Modules.Ribbon\bin\Debug\MyProject.Modules.Ribbon.dll" "D:\Users\johndoe\Documents\Visual Studio 2008\Projects\MyProject\MyProject\bin\Debug\Modules\" /Y" exited with code 9009. MyProject.Modules.Ribbon Any suggestions on how to fix this?

  • Clean conflicting class files from Temporary ASP.NET Files

    Class file Conflicts in C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\Temporary ASP.NET Files\ is preventing me from building the solution. Even though I try emptying out the folder, each time Visual Studio starts the build process, it brings in the class file in to the temp folder with the same folder name. If I restart the machine or leave it overnight, project build without error. Is there anyway to tell Visual studio to delete/ignore/clean any lingering class files that could be in the temp folder? Clean solution option in VS doesn't work either. Class file in conflict are from the App_Code folder.

  • How do I upgrade ReSharper 4.5 settings to ReSharper 5.0 settings

    I've recently upgraded my code from Visual Studio 2008 .NET 3.5 to Visual Studio 2010 .NET 4.0. I've used ReSharper 4.5 and now I'm using ReSharper 5.0. I want my ReSharper 4.5 settings (the ones in .resharper file) to be upgraded to ReSharper 5.0 settings. Is there an automatic way to do it? Should I do it manually? Would just overwriting the .5.0.ReSharper file with the .4.5.resharper file do that trick?

    I am building an installer for my windows app and have done this through a setup/installer project in visual studio. I was wondering how to customize he UI of the finish dialog box? I want to add a couple of check-boxes and launch an app after the user closes the finish box. Is there a way to do this in Visual studio itself or does it require any other tools?   • Install driver and copying files before Installation runs

    I have created installation package for my project, but before or after installation is complete i need to install some drivers and copy some files to target machine, before my software can run. Is it possible for me to do all this action in the MSI installer setup project of visual studio 2005. One option i have explored is using autoITscript, is there a better approach than that? i feel able to do the whole thing in visual studio would be an ideal way? any suggestions? Thanks

  • “Could not create the file”, “Access is denied” and “Unrecoverable build error” in building setup project in VS 2008

    When building a setup project I get a message: Error with setup build: Error 27 Could not create the file 'C:\Users\MyName\AppData\Local\Temp\VSI1E1A.tmp' 'Access is denied.' I have tried the following (from http://support.microsoft.com/kb/329214/EN-US) regsvr32 "C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\MSI Tools\mergemod.dll" The DLL registers but this does not fix my problem. Also, I tried a Clean build, deleting the temp folder, ran VS2008 as administratror, restart my PC but it occurs every time. I have no anti-virus software running and running on Windows 7 64-bit. This operation worked fine until recently. I have read many other users see this but found no solution. The only half solution I found was to edit setup properties and switch to Package files as Loose uncompressed files. This works but is not ideal as I need a full installer.

I am going to be creating a new project with over 100 Enums, and majority of them will have to be stored in the database.   • Is there any syntax checker for knockout.js?

    I like knockout.js, the only problem is Visual Studio knows nothing about this framework, so it does not prevent me from silly things like assigning some value to observable property with '=' operator which makes it regular property, and it's not easy to reveal at compile time and often at runtime even. I wonder is there any syntax checker/highlighter for Visual Studio 2010 that helps me prevent faults like this? What about VS 2011? It might be a great help for developers who are new to knockout.   • VS 2008 hangs(slow) when I select "File > Open > Web Site..."

    When I try to select the following "File Open Web Site" or use the shortcut key "Shift + Alt + O" (which does the same), Visual Studio 2008 hangs with the loading mouse icon for about 8-10 seconds then the file. But if I do "File Open Project/Solution.." or "File Open File..." the explorer window comes up in under a second, instantly most times.     I have to add a listbox/dropdownlist to a report in a Visual Studio Business Intelligence project, allowing users to filter a DataSet by the Id of the entity chosen in the listbox. I heard this was possible, but there is no option to add a listbox in the Toolbox in Visual Studio, and looking at the Report Definition on microsoft.com, there's nothing there about a listbox.     i'm trying to get the c++ client for mongodb working in visual studio 2008. i can reference the includes, but whenever i tell the linker about the mongodb .lib file i get the following error: "fatal error LNK1257: code generation failed". if visual studio can't find the .lib, then i get a bunch of unresolved externals errors. i'm really pretty lost at this point.

    I have Visual Studio 2005 and want to teach myself DirectX in my free time. I downloaded the latest Windows 7 and DirectX SDKs. According to Microsoft's website, the latest DirectX SDK is not compatible with Visual Studio 2005 (I assume they mean it's not compatible with the SDK it came with). Can I configure VS2005 to use the SDKs I downloaded instead of the SDK it came with? If so, is there anything I should be particularly careful with?

A de-facto equivalent definition of that type already exists in our solution in a different assembly. When adding the SoapTypeAttribute to the existing class and replacing the references to the generated class in the generated code, everything runs perfectly and as expected. How would I tell Visual Studio to use the existing class in the generated code?

  • Is it possible to profile memory usage of unit tests?

    I'm looking at building some unit tests to ascertain if resources are leaking (or not) using the unit testing framework that comes with Visual Studio. At present, I'm evaluating the latest version of ANTS Profiler, but I can't quite work out if it allows me to force a snapshot from code (so that I can take a snapshot, run a unit test a few hundred times, force a garbage collection, and take another snapshot, and save the results out for later analysis). Is this possible to do with ANTS/Visual Studio or should I be exploring options with other profilers?
