    I'm using Google Chrome for this test: Contrary to intuition, the first loop alerts "string" 3 times, while the second loop alerts "number" 3 times. numarray = [1, 2, 3]; //for-each loop for(num in numarray) alert(typeof(num)); //standard loop for(i=0; i<numarray.length; i++) alert(typeof(numarray[i])); I was expecting both loops to alert "number" 3 times. How is the first loop implemented in Javascript? In other words, if the for-each is syntactic sugar, what is its equivalent using a standard loop? Also, is there some way to iterate over an object's namespace using a standard loop? I'm looking to touch every one of some object's methods and attributes using a loop of the second kind. I'm new to Javascript and any help is highly appreciated, thanks.

  • global variables doesn't change value in Javascript

    My project is composed by 2 html pages: 1)index.html, wich contains the login and the registration form. 2)user_logged.html, wich contains all the features of a logged user. Now, what I want to do is a control if the user is really logged, to avoid the case where a user paste a url in the browser and can see the pages of another user. hours as now, if a user paste this url in the browser: www.user_loggato.html?user=x#profile is as if logged in as user x and this is not nice. My html pages both use js files that contains scripts. I decided to create a global variable called logged inizialized to false and change the variable to true when the login is succesfull. The problem is that the variable, remains false. here is the code: var logged=false; (write in the file a.js) while in the file b.js I have: function login() { //if succesfull logged=true; window.location.href = "user_loggato.html?user="+ JSON.parse(str).username + #profilo"; Now with some alerts I found that my variable logged is always false. Why? if I have not explained well or if there is not some information in order to respond to my question let me know.

    I do have a solution for the following problem but it's quite ugly and it can most likely be done in a much shorter way. Would be great to get your help. My input looks like this: C1 C2 A B B D D C A D and my output should look like this: A B C D 1 1 0 0 0 1 0 1 0 0 1 1 1 0 0 1 My current solution is: index <- unique(unlist(input[,1:2])) output <- matrix(0,nrows=dim(input),ncols=length(index)) for(i in 1:dim(input)) { output[i, input[i,]$C1] <- 1 output[i, input[i,]$C2] <- 1 } Of course 4-5 lines is actually fine - but even as an R beginner this doesn't feel right to use a for loop. Besides that my actual data has much more than two columns, therefore this doesn't look nice in the end. How would I do that in a smarter way? Cheers

    Hello, I need to write a PHP script that will print out results from a MySQL database. For example, say I have 9 fields. Field 1 is an auto increasing number, field two is a three digit number. I need to be able to have a script read, find the matching number (it'll be from a POST), and then display all matching three digit results, and the 7 other fields as well. I am already logged in to the database in this script. I guess I'm really at a loss of where to begin. How would one start something like this? Thank you.

    Is there a compile-time way to detect / prevent duplicate values within a C/C++ enumeration? The catch is that there are multiple items which are initialized to explicit values. Background: I've inherited some C code such as the following: #define BASE1_VAL (5) #define BASE2_VAL (7) typedef enum { MsgFoo1A = BASE1_VAL, // 5 MsgFoo1B, // 6 MsgFoo1C, // 7 MsgFoo1D, // 8 MsgFoo1E, // 9 MsgFoo2A = BASE2_VAL, // Uh oh! 7 again... MsgFoo2B // Uh oh! 8 again... } FOO; The problem is that as the code grows & as developers add more messages to the MsgFoo1x group, eventually it overruns BASE2_VAL. This code will eventually be migrated to C++, so if there is a C++-only solution (template magic?), that's OK -- but a solution that works with C and C++ is better.

    Say I want to create an array of pixel values to pass into the createBitmap method described here. I have three int values r, g, b in the range 0 - 0xff. How do I transform those into a opaque pixel p? Does the alpha channel go in the high byte or the low byte? I googled up the documentation but it only states that: Each pixel is stored on 4 bytes. Each channel (RGB and alpha for translucency) is stored with 8 bits of precision (256 possible values.) This configuration is very flexible and offers the best quality.     I am using Windows XP. The code can be used in a batch file or vbs script. I intend to use Windows scheduler to run the program. I need code to read a date from a text file (could be the only line in the text file or the date could be included in the filename, I control the process that generates the file) The code would then need to evaluate the text file date against the current date to confirm that the text file date is from the prior month. I'm starting to build a process to be able to run 1st-of-the-month jobs once the monthly data has been refreshed. I'm new to building this kind of process using batch/script files.
