  • Is there a GUI that I can use to create XML documents based on my schema?

    Hi all, I want to create a simple graphical user interface to allow non-technical users to create an XML file without having to manually edit the XML source. Ideally I'd like a drag and drop interface, but failing that, anything really. The contents of the XML file are similar to an encoded flow chart of a binary tree, so maybe something like Visio, with a save as xml option? Here's a quick sample of the XML output that is required: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <steps> <step id="1" type="prompt"> <prompt> Welcome. </prompt> <next>1.1</next> </step> <step id="1.1" type="question"> <prompt> Do you have what you need? </prompt> <yes>1.2</yes> <no>1.1.1</no> </step> ... </steps> Are there any existing tools out there that you can recommend for this purpose?     I have multiple forms that are dynamically created with different input names and id's. The only thing unique they will have is the inner HTML of the label. Is it possible to select the input via the label inner HTML with jQuery?   • Can a View Controller manage more than 1 nib based view?

    I have a VC controlling a screen of content that has 2 modes; a normal mode and an edit mode. Can I create a single VC with 2 views, each from separate nibs? In many situations on the iphone, you have a VC which controls an associated view. Then on a button press or other event, a new VC is loaded and its view becomes the top level view etc. But in this situation, I have 2 modes that I want to use the same VC for, because they are closely related. So I want a VC which can swap in/out 2 views. As per here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/863321/iphone-how-to-load-a-view-using-a-nib-file-created-with-interface-builder/2683153#2683153 I have found that I can load a VC with an associated view from a nib and then later on load a different view from another nib and make that new view the active view. NSArray *nibObjects = [[NSBundle mainBundle] loadNibNamed:@"EditMode" owner:self options:nil]; UIView *theEditView = [nibObjects objectAtIndex:0]; self.editView = theEditView; [self.view addSubview:theEditView]; The secondary nib has outlets wired up to the VC like the primary nib. When the new nib is loaded, the outlets are all connected up fine and everything works nicely. Unfortunately when this edit view is then removed, there doesn't seem to be any elegant way of getting the outlets hooked up again to the (normal mode) view from the original nib. Nib loading and outlet setting seems a once only thing. So, if you want to have a VC that swaps in/out 2 views without creating a new VC, what are the options? 1) You can do everything in code, but I want to use nibs because it makes creating the UI simpler. 2) You have 1 nib for your VC and just hide/show elements using the hidden property of UIView and its subclasses. 3) You load a new nib as described above. This is fine for the new nib, but how do you sort the outlets when you go back to the original nib. 4) Give up and accept having a 1:1 between VCs and nibs. There is a nib for normal mode, a nib for edit mode and each mode has a VC that subclasses a common superclass. In the end, I went with 4) and it works, but requires a fair amount of extra work, because I have a model class that I instantiate in normal mode and then have to pass to the edit mode VC because both modes need access to the model. I'm also using NSTimer and have to start and stop the timer in each mode. It is because of all this shared functionality that I wanted a single VC with 2 nibs in the first place.

    OK, not entirely related to programming, so I'm sorry. But I'd like to know about this: So I've got a webapp. There's one column where a list of results are fetched from the database. When you click one, jQuery fetches the information associated with that result and puts it into the second column - all without a refresh and using Ajax. Is it possible for Google to still read it etc.? I understand it can follow links... but presumably not Javascript actions etc.? If this is the case, what do other Ajax-heavy websites do about search engine optimisation? Jack

  • ASP.Net MVC Toggling IsAjaxRequest property based on file upload?

    I have a form all setup to upload a file and that is working fine. However the way my form is submitted is through AJAX. The button that submits is still a type="submit" in case JS is off. When I save my form the controller determines whether the IsAjaxRequest is true and if so returns some JSON otherwise it does a RedirectToAction. When I don't specify a filepath in my input type="file" it considers IsAjaxRequest as true. If there is a filepath set then it thinks that IsAjaxRequest is false. How is it determining that? My other problem is that when it thinks IsAjaxRequest is false and does a RedirectToAction("Index") I don't actually get sent to the Index view. Thanks

  • SQL Server stored procedures - update column based on variable name..?

    Hi, I have a data driven site with many stored procedures. What I want to eventually be able to do is to say something like: For Each @variable in sproc inputs UPDATE @TableName SET @variable.toString = @variable Next I would like it to be able to accept any number of arguments. It will basically loop through all of the inputs and update the column with the name of the variable with the value of the variable - for example column "Name" would be updated with the value of @Name. I would like to basically have one stored procedure for updating and one for creating. However to do this I will need to be able to convert the actual name of a variable, not the value, to a string. Question 1: Is it possible to do this in T-SQL, and if so how? Question 2: Are there any major drawbacks to using something like this (like performance or CPU usage)? I know if a value is not valid then it will only prevent the update involving that variable and any subsequent ones, but all the data is validated in the vb.net code anyway so will always be valid on submitting to the database, and I will ensure that only variables where the column exists are able to be submitted. Many thanks in advance, Regards, Richard Clarke Edit: I know about using SQL strings and the risk of SQL injection attacks - I studied this a bit in my dissertation a few weeks ago. Basically the website uses an object oriented architecture. There are many classes - for example Product - which have many "Attributes" (I created my own class called Attribute, which has properties such as DataField, Name and Value where DataField is used to get or update data, Name is displayed on the administration frontend when creating or updating a Product and the Value, which may be displayed on the customer frontend, is set by the administrator. DataField is the field I will be using in the "UPDATE Blah SET @Field = @Value". I know this is probably confusing but its really complicated to explain - I have a really good understanding of the entire system in my head but I cant put it into words easily. Basically the structure is set up such that no user will be able to change the value of DataField or Name, but they can change Value. I think if I were to use dynamic parameterised SQL strings there will therefore be no risk of SQL injection attacks. I mean basically loop through all the attributes so that it ends up like: UPDATE Products SET [Name] = '@Name', Description = '@Description', Display = @Display Then loop through all the attributes again and add the parameter values - this will have the same effect as using stored procedures, right?? I dont mind adding to the page load time since this is mainly going to affect the administration frontend, and will marginly affect the customer frontend.

    I'm trying to make just a few minor tweaks to the default template of a checkbox. Now I understand how to make a new template from scratch, but this I do not know. I did manage to (I think?) extract the default template via the method here.     I'm getting such an headache trying to elaborate an appropriate algorithm to go from a START position to a EXIT position in a maze. For what is worth, the maze is rectangular, maxsize 500x500 and, in theory, is resolvable by DFS with some branch and bound techniques ... 10 3 4 7 6 3 3 1 2 2 1 0 2 2 2 4 2 2 5 2 2 1 3 0 2 2 2 2 1 3 3 4 2 3 4 4 3 1 1 3 1 2 2 4 2 2 1 Output: 5 1 4 2 Explanation: Our agent looses energy every time he gives a step and he can only move UP, DOWN, LEFT and RIGHT. Also, if the agent arrives with a remaining energy of zero or less, he dies, so we print something like "Impossible". So, in the input 10 is the initial agent's energy, 3 4 is the START position (i.e. column 3, line 4) and we have a maze 7x6. Think this as a kind of labyrinth, in which I want to find the exit that gives the agent a better remaining energy (shortest path). In case there are paths which lead to the same remaining energy, we choose the one which has the small number of steps, of course. I need to know if a DFS to a maze 500x500 in the worst case is feasible with these limitations and how to do it, storing the remaining energy in each step and the number of steps taken so far. The output means the agent arrived with remaining energy= 5 to the exit pos 1 4 in 2 steps. If we look carefully, in this maze it's also possible to exit at pos 3 1 (column 3, row 1) with the same energy but with 3 steps, so we choose the better one. With these in mind, can someone help me some code or pseudo-code? I have troubles working this around with a 2D array and how to store the remaining energy, the path (or number of steps taken)....

  • How to run node.js app on port 80? Are processes blocking my port?

    I believe the port 80 on my remote instance is blocked, and I am trying to run a node.js app using port 80. I have experimented with ports 3000 and 3002, and both ports are working fine, but I get an error when running on port 80. I suspect port 80 is blocked from my output of netstat -an below, but how can I find the process id's of the addresses that are blocking port 80 below?   • Can a Flash-based CFGRID render basic HTML in the cells?

    (I'm very new to both Flex and CF -- more a .NET/ExtJS guy, so I'm a duck out of water.) I'm tweaking someone else's CFGRID code. It uses Flash format--HTML isn't an option since it would require redesigning the entire interface around the grid. Tha data I want to put in the grid have some very simple HTML elements-- <sub>, <sup>, and HTML entities like &deg;. I can imagine <i> or <b> might be there in the future. How can I tell a particular CFGRIDCOLUMN to render its contents as HTML? I've heard this is possible, but Google is not my friend tonight. Stuck with CF7 for a few more weeks, so if there are any CF8/CF9-specific solutions, please let me know those as well, but that won't help my immediate need.
