• Characters spilled over multiple columns in Oracle 11g?

  This is related to question: How to store unlimited characters in Oracle 11g? If maximum I need is 8000 characters, can I just add 3 more varchar2 columns so that I will have 4 columns with 2000 char each to get 8000 chars. So when the first column is full, values would be spilled over to the next column and so on. Will this design have any bad side effects? Please suggest.

  Sorry I dont know the correct terminology to use but I have a 3x3 matrix like this 1 3 4 5 4 5 2 2 5 and I want get the highest score by picking a value from each row/column but I cant pick the same row or column more than once , so the answer in this case is 3 + 5 + 5 = 13 (row0,col1 + row1,col0 + row2,col2) 4 + 5 + 5 = 14 is not allowed because would have picked two values from col2 I'm using Java, and typically the matrix would be 15 by 15 in size. Is there a name for what Im trying to do, and whats the algorithm thanks Paul

  i am converting from access to mysql i have a table in access where one of the columns is an autonumber when i transfer the data into the mysql database (where i also have a column that is auto_increment), should i be transfering the auto_increment data into the auto_increment column, or will it auto_increment itself? how do i ensure that if i do not transfer the autoincrement data from access, that it auto_increments properly?

  I am trying to make a image viewer/album creator in visual studio, wpf. The image paths for each album is stored in an xml document which i bind to to show the images from each album in a listbox. The problem is when i add a image or an album at runtime and write it to the xml document. I can't seem to make the bindings to the xml document update so they show the new images and albums aswell. Calling Refresh() on the XmlDataProvider doesn't change anything. I don't wish to redo the binding of the XmlDataProvider, just make it read from the same source again.   Is there any way how to override DataGrids header line ? Or at least its behaviour ? I'm trying to implement Outlook-like grouping of the table. That is allow user to drag column header out of the table to the dedicated area to sort by that column (for example XamDataGrid has that feature, you can see how it works here).   Hai Friends I am having one dyanmic grid in that amount and date is not null column user should enter some thing in that spceified column.my issue is that if the save button is pressed the requried validator is firing for all the rows which is empty.it should only show if the user shows in the current row.if the user left the particular row is empty and presses the save button the error message should show in the current row not all the rows. how to do this.

When I select the contents of this column using the following select statement: SELECT * FROM categories ORDER BY menu_order ASC It lists the category items that have nothing as their menu order first and then the one's that have 1's and 2's and 3's. Is there any way to prevent SQL from take nothing to come before numbers when I am trying to list things in order? But I'd like the cursor to still have num column with some default value like NOTHING when no data is found. Is this doable ?

  In SharePoint 2010 when you hover over a column heading (i.e. to sort) in a list table, you get a hover effect, how can you supress / change this? I can see it uses OnChildColumn(this), so is there a way to modify this - either preventing the effect (e.g. when sorting can't be done on a column), or using a different background image? Also want to do the same when you hover over a cell in any of the list table's contents.
