  • How to find/display the Upload File limits on IIS with ASP.NET?

    I have a web service on which the end users will be uploading ZIP archives that can be very large (one test file is over 200MB). I'd like to handle oversized files proactively and size-limited upload failures gracefully. Since the web app will be deployed on customers' machines, so I cannot easily ensure that the configuration matches any fixed size. I've documented how to use the appcmd command for them to set the requestLimits.maxAllowedContentLength value beyond the 30MB default. But I'd like to handle it in the web app; I'm hoping for two things: To show the current limit on the page where they initiate the file upload, something along the lines of: Each file upload is limited to 15MB. If your archive is larger, (etc., etc., etc.) To give a meaningful error when that size is exceeded. Currently, it takes a long time for the data to be sent, and then I see a misleading 404 page. Any thoughts?

  • Query Parameter Value Is Null When Enum Item 0 is Cast with Int32

    When I use the first item in a zero-based Enum cast to Int32 as a query parameter, the parameter value is null. I've worked around it by simply setting the first item to a value of 1, but I was wondering though what's really going on here? This one has me scratching my head. Why is the parameter value regarded as null, instead of 0?     hello I have code that looks like this: class T {}; class container { const T &first, T &second; container(const T&first, const T & second); }; class adapter : T {}; container(adapter(), adapter()); I thought lifetime of constant reference would be lifetime of container. However, it appears otherwise, adapter object is destroyed after container is created, leading dangling reference. What is the correct lifetime? how to correctly implement binding temporary object to class member reference? Thanks

  • Why does this jQuery dropdown menu display subcategory selections only for certain top-level categories?

    I'm trying to implement a dropdown menu based on a jQuery plugin from Filament Group: http://jsfiddle.net/chunkymonkey/Pr8k4/ What I am having difficulty fixing is a bug where certain categories can be expanded to show their subcategories while others show nothing when opened up. For example: Alternative Rock can be expanded to show its multiple subcategories . . . BUT . . . World Music, which has equally many subcategories, shows no subcategories when expanded. I would be very grateful if anyone could help me figure out what's causing this. Thanks. UPDATE: Just noticed this problem may be Chrome-specific(??). I just tested it in IE8 and Firefox and it seems to work correctly in both.

    I'm using Doctrine 2 with my Zend Framework application and a typical query result could yield a million (or more) search results. I want to use Zend_Paginator in line with this result set. However, I don't want to return all the results as an array and use the Array adapter as this would be inefficient, instead I would like to supply the paginator the total amount of rows then and array of results based on limit/offset amounts. Is this doable using the Array adapter or would I need to create my own pagination adapter?

    I'd like to fill System.Windows.Forms.ListView with the items I've stored in a separate System.Collections.Generics.List<. I would like to avoid to store the data twice, once in the List< and once as a string in ListViewItem. Is there a way to make ListViewItem use some callback function to obtain the text to put in its columns from the Tag property, instead of using its Text property?

I would like to see the documentation as I can see it in Object Browser with description of parameters and everything not just some "summary".
