• Producer Consumer Issue with Core Data

  I've a Core Data application. In the producer thread, I pull data from a web service and store it in my object and call save. My consumer object is a table view controller that displays the same. However, the app crashes and I get NSFetchedResultsController Error: expected to find object (entity: FeedEntry; id: 0xf46f40 ; data: ) in section (null) for deletion on the console. When I debug it, everything works fine. So I understood that it's like a race issue. How is these kind of problem solved? What's the best way to design a producer-consumer app with core-data?

  Hello I'm trying to display the latest tweet using the code below. This preg_replace works great for wrapping a link round twitter @usernames but doesn't work for web addresses in tweets. • Separating weakly linked database schemas

  I've been tasked with revisiting a database schema we designed and use internally for various ticketing and reporting systems. Currently there exists about 40 tables in one Oracle database schema supporting perhaps six webapps. However, there's one unifying relationship amongst them all: a rooms table describing the room. Room name, purpose and other data are thrown into a shared table for each app. My initial idea was to pull each of these applications into a separate database, and perform joins between a given database and the room database. But I've discovered this solution prevents foreign key constraints in SQL Server 2005. It seems silly to duplicate one table for each app and keep those multiple copies synchronized. Should I just leave everything in one large DB, or is there something else I can do separate the tables without losing FK constraints?

  I am trying to pass login credentials to a PHP script that I have in my iPhone app. When I pull a password with special characters the password is missing certain characters especially the percent sign. I am trying to encode the text but even before I send it, the percent sign is missing. //password_field is a UITextField holding the password: !@#$%^&*() NSString *tmpPass = [password_field.text stringByAddingPercentEscapesUsingEncoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding]; NSLog(p_field.text); NSLog(tmpPass); This is what appears in the console: !@#$^&*() [email protected]&*() Is there any reason why it would be dropping the percent sign?

  Hello, The query below works well. It pulls data from two MySQL tables, "submission" and "login." I would like to also pull data from a third table called "comment" in the same database. The table "comment" has the following fields: commentid, loginid, submissionid, comment, datecommented Two of the fields in the table "login" are called "loginid" and "username." In the query below, I would like to count all "commentid" in "comment" where "loginid" equals the "loginid" in "login" where "username" equals "$profile." How can I do this? • Stop duplicate icmp echo replies when bridging to a dummy interface?

  I recently configured a bridge br0 with members as eth0 (real if) and dummy0 (dummy.ko if). How do I stop ICMP echo replies from being sent in duplicate when dealing with a bridge interface/bridged interfaces? I'll likely end up rebuilding it next week. Then... you know... this same thing will occur again. [edit3] Guess what? I rebuilt the box, and I'm still receiving duplicate ICMP echo replies. Must be the network infrastructure, although the ARP tables do not contain multiple entries. [edit4] How ridiculous. The machine was a network probe, so I was (ingress and egress) mirroring an uplink port to a node that was the NIC. So, the flow (must have) gone like this: ICMP echo request comes in through the mirrored uplink port. (the real) ICMP echo request is received by the NIC (the mirrored) ICMP echo request is received by the NIC ICMP echo reply is sent for both. I'm ashamed of myself, but now I know. It was suggested on #networking to either isolate the mirrored traffic to an interface that does not have IP enabled, or tag the mirrored packets with dot1q.

• Requirements of an issue/bug tracker

  I've been looking at various issue/bug trackers available on the net. There are some very good ones, but I'm unable to use them as my server does not support Perl/Ruby (for example), I'm not too bothered however because I am able to write code in PHP and as such would prefer something in that language. So I've taken it upon myself to write a custom issue tracker system. As of now it's in early planning stages, and before I continue, I'd like to find out what people need from such an application. My current list of things to add include: Creating/Editing/Deleting issues - both on user and admin level Related issues (similar to that of STO) Admins will be able to create builds/milestones and version control of projects Admins will be able to assign users/groups to a project Roadmap of projects Possible SVN integration with Git? What do you think? There are a couple more things I'd like to add, but I'm sure you'll think of a better way of adding such feature. What would you like to see from an issue tracker?

• Where can I find the gtk-builder-convert script?

  I've built a small GUI app for work that uses some .glade files for pop-up windows. Recently, the ground beneath me was shifted - my environment was upgraded. Newer pyGTK versions require GTKBuilder and .xml files instead of Glade and .glade files and now my poor app is broken. I need to convert the .glade file to the newer .xml file. Problem is Glade-3 is not on our system, and I can't find gtk-builder-convert on the web. I've looked at the Gnome GIT Browser, don't know where to start looking or how to search it. Would anyone be kind enough to point me to the gtk-builder-convert python script?

• Auto-Complete Suggestions in Source Code Editor

  Hello, Most IDEs (Eclipse, Netbeans, Intelij) provide contextually smart suggestions about the current statement you're writing. We would like to do the same thing (In Java for Java). We considered tokenizing the input and building our own abstract syntax trees, but quickly realized that could be a month long project in and of its self. We also started digging through the source code for the above mentioned IDEs, but it appears (correct me if I'm wrong) that the auto-complete code is pretty tightly woven with the rest of the IDE. We're wondering if anyone knows of a relatively isolated package that we could pull into our project to provide this auto-complete functionality. Thanks!

• Can you use back references in the pattern part of a regular expression?

  I there a way to back reference in the regular expression pattern? Example input string: Here is "quoted text" some quoted text. Say I want to pull out the quoted text, I could create the following expression: "([^"]+)" This regular expression would match quoted text. Say I want it to also support single quotes, I could change the expression to: ["']([^"']+)["'] But what if the input string has a mixture of quotes say Here is 'quoted text" some quoted text. I would not want the regex to match. Currently the regex in the second example would still match. What I would like to be able to do is if the first quote is a double quote then the closing quote must be a double. And if the start quote is single quote then the closing quote must be single. Can I use a back reference to achieve this?

  I have a table of rows in MS SQL that contain a start and end day of the week, hour, and time. I need a T-SQL query that can pull rows from that table where GETDATE matches the day of week and time of those rows. Specifically, I need the query to work if a row has a day/time that starts on one day of the week and ends on the next day. • Chrome Extension: How to display tab objects?

  I am in the process of designing an extension for Google Chrome that helps to organize tabs (I know, there are many that already exist; that doesn't matter). I wish to open a popup window that will display tabs as objects (i.e., in the same way that it is displayed in the tab bar at the top of the browser). One way of doing this would be to pull various details (ID, Title, URL, etc.) from each tab, create a class and make instantiations of it upon the opening of each tab using these data, but this seems rather convoluted considering that what I want is sitting right there in the tab bar. Is there any simpler way to achieve this? In addition, I have seen several apps that utilize page previews. Is there something in the API that allows direct access to these?

  I am attempting to move data from a recordset directly into an array. I know this is possible, but specifically I want to do this in VBA as this is being done in MS Access 2003. ' Populate the array with the whole recordset. vaData = rst.GetRows What differences exist between VB and VBA which makes this type of operation not work? What about performance concerns? • Reformat a YouTube URL using jQuery

  I am using the YouTube Channel jQuery script to pull in data from a YouTube channel. Then I'm using an iFrame on the page to display the videos without leaving the site. The only problem is that the URLs the Channel plugin is pulling in don't quite work with my iFrame concept. They load the whole YouTube page instead of just the video. I figured out a workaround that basically I reformat the URL and tell it to display fullscreen and to autoplay will do what I would like it to do. The URLs are currently formatted like http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xxxxxxxxx&feature=youtube_gdata and I need them to be rewritten as http://www.youtube.com/v/xxxxxxxxx?fs=1&autoplay=1 I've seen a couple of similar topics here on SO, but given my limited jQuery and regex talents I wasn't able to get anything to work for my purposes.

  I have an html document, and I want to pull the tables out of this document and return them as arrays. I'm picturing 2 functions, one that finds all the html tables in a document, and a second one that turns html tables into 2-dimensional arrays. Something like this: htmltables = get_tables(htmldocument) for table in htmltables: array=make_array(table) There's 2 catches: 1. The number tables varies day to day 2. The tables have all kinds of weird extra formatting, like bold and blink tags, randomly thrown in. Thanks!

• Does Android support near real time push notification

  I recently learned about the ability of iPhone apps to receive nearly instantaneous notifications to apps. This is provided in the form of push notifications, a bespoke protocol which keeps an always on data connection to the iPhone and messages binary packets to the app, which pops up alerts incredibly quickly, between 0.5 - 5 seconds from server app send to phone app response time. This is sent as data - rather than SMS - in very very small packets charged as part of the data plan not as incoming messages. I would like to know if using Android there is either a similar facility, or whether it's possible to implement something close to this using Android APIs. To clarify I define similar as: Not an SMS message, but some data driven solution As real time as is possible Is scalable - ie: as the server part of a mobile app, I could notify thousands of app instances in seconds I appreciate the app could be pull based, HTTP request/response style, but ideally I don't want to to be polling that heavily just to check for notification .. besides which it's like drip draining the data plan.

• Automatic VM deployment

  I have an idea to streamline deployments of prototypes within our team using VMs. The idea would be that a developer would be able to deploy their artifacts to Maven, then use a Web interface to pull them onto a development VM for integration/regression testing. They would then be able to to push those artifacts to a reference system, and finally onto production. I'm currently thinking of doing this myself using the vSphere Java API ( http://vijava.sourceforge.net/ ), and some simple scripting to grab artifacts from the Maven repository, configuration from SVN, and then start up a JBoss server. It feels like the kind of thing that may already be available though, has anyone heard of something similar?

• Best practices for querying an entire row in a database table? (MySQL / CodeIgniter)

  Sorry for the novice question! I have a table called cities in which I have fields called id, name, xpos, ypos. I'm trying to use the data from each row to set a div's position and name. What I'm wondering is what's the best practice for dynamically querying an unknown amount of rows (I don't know how many cities there might be, I want to pull the information from all of them) and then passing the variables from the model into the view and then setting attributes with it? Right now I've 'hacked' a solution where I run a different function each time which pulls a value using a query ('SELECT id FROM cities;'), then I store that in a global array variable and pass it into view. I do this for each var so I have arrays called: city_idVar, city_nameVar, city_xposVar, city_yposVar then I know that the city_nameVar[0] matches up with city_xposVar[0] etc. Is there a better way?

• Play Video on Safari iTouch

  I have a web site that opens iframe for video on page, page uses ajax to pull in videos from selected menu. As expected and understood, on iTouch after selecting video it shows a play button, which brings up video in another screen. However, when the video completes, it returns browser to page prior to one where video was played from. Sequence: - open Page1 - go to Page2 which offers videos to play, in iframe - play video - video completes, returns to Page1, not Page2!! Only happens on iTouch, so must be issue with how control is returned on video completion. Any suggestions? If this is not a known problem, I can work up example (currently, need account on site). • Is there a distributed VCS that can manage large files?

  Is there a distributed version control system (git, bazaar, mercurial, darcs etc.) that can handle files larger than available RAM? I need to be able to commit large binary files (i.e. datasets, source video/images, archives), but I don't need to be able to diff them, just be able to commit and then update when the file changes. I last looked at this about a year ago, and none of the obvious candidates allowed this, since they're all designed to diff in memory for speed. That left me with a VCS for managing code and something else ("asset management" software or just rsync and scripts) for large files, which is pretty ugly when the directory structures of the two overlap.
