If I'm going to use Django as a proxy to serve static files in a view, what are the implications? I'm used to serving static files in Apache and configuring that my media is served without any handlers, but what happens if someone starts downloading 500mb through my Django proxy? Will my Django thread be locked for that user until he recieves the 500mb response?

After sending ack & another invite with the proxy header i receive session progress about 1/4 of the time!! other times it just sends 407 error again & again. Any ideas?

  Cutting a longish story short, we have managed to get a more precise error out of Varnishlog. Hello, We have a production site for a local newspaper which is currently behind an Apache reverse proxy, basicly the site on one server and the other being reserved as a reverse proxy only (well, there is more but that has no relevance here). Apache as a reverse proxy works, but could be faster. We want to change the reverse proxy to use Varnish instead of Apache on an Ubuntu 10.4 Server. The Varnish is version 2.10 installed directly from Ubuntu repos. Ubuntu 10.4 uses PHP 5.3.2. For anonymous surfers the site works wonderfully with Varnish. So far we can get very good speed out of Varnish, we just have a few problems with logging in or out. The big one is, that the users cannot log in: they get a Varnish 503 error page every time. The logs do not reveal the cause. It feels as if the request would never leave Varnish. So we are merely guessing - not a strong starting point. We have gone through what has been suggested on various plces on the web. We have increased the timeouts to backend xxx { .host = "xxx.xx"; .port = "http"; .connect_timeout = 60s; .first_byte_timeout = 60s; .between_bytes_timeout = 60s; } but we seem to get the 503 guru error page much faster than that, as in approx. 5 seconds. We have increased the Varnish headers size to 128 in daemon. In vcl_recv we have if (req.http.Authenticate || req.http.Authorization) { return(pass); } and in vcl_fetch ## auhtentication handling if (req.http.Authenticate || req.http.Authorization) { return(pass); } We do not strip cookies. We have tried to make sure that error pages are not cached. As said above, we cannot see anything in the backend Apache logs, apparently it never gets asked for Joomla user authentication. Varnish does not seem to get much mentioning with connection to Joomla. Oftentimes, it even places empty rows in to the MySQL table. The file-based logs in /var/log/squid3/access.log are correct but many of the rows in the access logs are missing from the MySQL logs. I can't help but think it's down to the order I'm putting lines in because I want to log everything to MySQL, unauthenticated requests, blocked requests, which category blocked a specific request. The reason I want this in MySQL is because I'm trying to have everything managed via a custom web-based frontend and want to avoid using any shell commands and access to system log files if I can help it. The end result is to make it as easy as possible to maintain without keeping staff waiting on the phone whilst I add a new rule and reload the server! Hopefully someone can help me out here because this is very much a learning experience for me and I'm pretty stumped. Many thanks in advance for any help!

• Apache 2 Fails to Start After Upgrade with No Errors

  Hi all Hoping someone can help me with a server issue. Recently we upgraded to the latest apache on 2 boxes within are organisation. One being the master box the other being for failover. The upgrade went fine on the master box but on the failover box apache fails to start with no errors, being output or logged. Both boxes have the exact same configuration so found this a bit strange. I've reinstalled apache and have been through checking the configs and did not find any obvious errors. Eventally I ran a syntax check on each config file being included and found that one of the files apparently has syntax errors. Invalid command 'Order', perhaps misspelled or defined by a module not included in the server configuration Invalid command 'php_value', perhaps misspelled or defined by a module not included in the server configuration Invalid command 'GeoIPEnable', perhaps misspelled or defined by a module not included in the server configuration I've trippled checked all the modules are enabled but it still fails. I've googled the subject of these errors loads but have been unable to fine a solution. I was wondering if anyone had encountered such a problem before and could point me towards a solution. • Tri-head linux system with Xmonad: is it possible to have HW acceleration

  What means there exists to have three monitors, all controlled by Xmonad and have hardware 3D acceleration as well? I had the pleasure of using three monitors earlier this year, and while Xmonad and Xinerama handle three monitors easily, I had to throw in an extra display driver, and also let go of Nvidia's own TwinView (which is a hack on Xinerama). This left me with no HW acceleration and some flickering as double buffering wouldn't work with certain applications. However, the three monitors handle so beautifully that I had hard time coming back to two. I understand the easiest way to achieve HW-accelerated tri-head combo is to split into two Xorgs. I wouldn't be able to switch windows between the Xorgs, so I'm not really into this solution. What's more, having a cheap and old PCI card along with even slightly better PCIe seemed to slow things down. Even if I occasionally disabled the third monitor from Xorg configure, I couldn't get HW acceleration to work. Only after I physically disconnected the old PCI card, I could get the games back in business. Would a Matrox Dual/Tri-head2go and a powerful Nvidia GPU do the trick? I understand Xmonad can be configured to "believe" that a "single" (as Dualhead2Go will merge) 3360x1050 display is actually two different ones? So that Xmonad's Mod-w and Mod-e would work properly there.
