  • Unable to read values from object returned from ActiveRecord.find

    I make the following call to the DB. @patientRegistration = PatientRegistration.find(:all, :conditions=["name = '#{patientName}'"]) Search for patient registration based on a given name. I get a valid @patientRegistration object.When I invoke @patientRegistration.inspect it prints correctly all the values for the object in the DB. But when I try to read a particular attribute (Say id or name) by doing the following: @patientRegistration.id or @patientRegistration.name. I get invalid values. Either its blank or some junk values. I dont understand how inspect is able to retrieve all the values correctly but reading individual attributes gives invalid values. Thanks

    Transparent persistence allows you to use regular objects instead of a database. The objects are automatically read from and written to disk. Examples of such systems are Gemstone and Rucksack (for common lisp). Simplified version of what they do: if you access foo.bar and bar is not in memory, it gets loaded from disk. If you do foo.bar = baz then the foo object gets updated on disk. Most systems also have some form of transactions, and they may have support for sharing objects across programs and even across a network. My question is what are the different techniques for implementing these kind of systems and what are the trade offs between these implementation approaches?

    Does JsonIgnore not work when a property has data? I have the followin class: public class SomeObject { public string Name { get; set; } public DateTime Created { get; set; } public List<string> ErrorList { get; set; } [JsonIgnore] public Dictionary<string, object> Parameters { get; set; } public SomeObject() { this.ErrorList = new List<string>(); this.Parameters = new Dictionary<string, object>(); } } My expectation was that JsonIgnore would exclude properties from De- / Serialization. My RavenDB document has data. Am I missing something?

    I came to a situation where I need to edit the following in a way that, on some event (lets assume the 'click' event in this case) I need to remove (or unwrap?) the .container and the .header and have the .itemlist still visible/available on the page. And then, I need to restore .container and .header back again on some other event, while still maintain the event listeners on the a tags, and if possible, without removing the said items from the DOM.   • Android -- Object Creation/Memory Allocation vs. Performance

    Hello all, This is probably an easy one. I have about 20 TextViews/ImageViews in my current project that I access like this: ((TextView)multiLayout.findViewById(R.id.GameBoard_Multi_Answer1_Text)).setText(""); //or ((ImageView)multiLayout.findViewById(R.id.GameBoard_Multi_Answer1_Right)).setVisibility(View.INVISIBLE); My question is this, am I better off, from a performance standpoint, just assigning these object variables? Further, am I losing some performance to the constant "search" process that goes on as a part of the findViewById(...) method? (i.e. Does findsViewById(...) use some sort of hashtable/hashmap for look-ups or does it implement an iterative search over the view hierarchy?) At present, my program never uses more than 2.5MB of RAM, so will assigning 20 or so more object variables drastically affect this? I don't think so, but I figured I'd ask. Thanks.

Is there any way to solve this problem?

  • Z-Index problems with IE6 and html <select> element

    I have a <div> that opens up on a jquery hover event (display goes from hidden to block). Sometime it's opens up over some form elements. And of course it works fine in all browsers except IE6. <select> boxes bleed through as if there z-index is higher than the <div> tag. I've tried setting the <div> tag with a higher z-index, but it still gets ignored by IE6. I'm hoping to implement any fix -- jquery or css, I really don't care at this point. Any ideas?

  • Nested for loop error with !null checking an element that doesn't exist

    I am currently using nested for loops in a 2D array of size 4,2. When I run my program, I get index out of bounds Exception on the following line else if (state[i][j+1] != null && state[i][j].getFlash() <= state[i][j].getCycleLength() && state[i][j+1].getCycleLength() == state[i][j].getCycleLength()){ } It says the index out of bounds is 2. I would understand the error if I wasn't checking to see if [i][j+1] wasn't null, but I don't understand the exception with the check? I tried moving around the !null check but the program still fails on this line. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Stack trace: Exception in thread "Timer-0" java.lang.ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException: 2 at NatComp.data$1.run(data.java:67) at java.util.TimerThread.mainLoop(Timer.java:512) at java.util.TimerThread.run(Timer.java:462)

    Assume this simple XML fragment in which there may or may not be the xml declaration and has exactly one NodeElement as a root node, followed by exactly one other NodeElement, which may contain an assortment of various number of different kinds of elements. <?xml version="1.0"> <NodeElement xmlns="xyz"> <NodeElement xmlns=""> <SomeElement></SomeElement> </NodeElement> </NodeElement> How could I go about selecting the inner NodeElement and its contents without the namespace? For instance, "//*[local-name()='NodeElement/NodeElement[1]']" (and other variations I've tried) doesn't seem to yield results. As for in general the thing that I'm really trying to accomplish is to Deserialize a fragment of a larger XML document contained in a XmlDocument. I am trying to select a checkbox, but the only way that I can identify it is by the text following it. Here is the relevant portion of HTML: <li id="product_cat-52"> <label class="selectit"> <input value="52" type="checkbox" name="tax_input[product_cat][]" id="in-product_cat-52"> polishpottery </label> </li> The only information that I have in my script to identify this checkbox is the string "polishpottery". Is there any way to select that checkbox knowing only the text that follows?

If the text between the paragraph tags has multiple instances, I would like all but the first hidden.
