  • XML RSS Feed Parse PHP

    - by JD
    With an XML feed like so: <w:current temperature="22.2" dewPoint="12.9" humidity="56" windSpeed="5.6" windGusts="9.3" windDirection="ESE" pressure="1017.8" rain="0.0" /> and <w:forecast day="Thursday" description="Mostly Sunny. Warm." min="17" max="29" icon="2" iconUri="http://www.weather.com.au/images/icons/2.gif" iconAlt="Mostly Sunny" /> How do I parse it in PHP using the dom? $doc = new DOMDocument(); $doc->load('http://rss.weather.com.au/sa/adelaide'); $arrFeeds = array(); foreach ($doc->getElementsByTagName('item') as $node) { $itemRSS = array ( 'title' => $node->getElementsByTagName('title')->item(0)->nodeValue, 'description' => $node->getElementsByTagName('w')->item(0)->nodeValue, ); array_push($arrFeeds, $itemRSS); } Returns error :Notice: Trying to get property of non-object in /var/www/index.php on line 123

  • s3 / php script looping (strace)

    - by Neil
    Anyone using the following php S3 client library? http://undesigned.org.za/2007/10/22/amazon-s3-php-class It's been working fine for me for a few days, just noticed that a script I have in place now just ends up hanging. Running this through strace, I see something like: poll([{fd=4, events=POLLOUT}], 1, 1000) = 1 ([{fd=4, revents=POLLHUP}]) poll([{fd=4, events=POLLOUT}], 1, 0) = 1 ([{fd=4, revents=POLLHUP}]) poll([{fd=4, events=POLLOUT}], 1, 1000) = 1 ([{fd=4, revents=POLLHUP}]) poll([{fd=4, events=POLLOUT}], 1, 0) = 1 ([{fd=4, revents=POLLHUP}]) poll([{fd=4, events=POLLOUT}], 1, 1000) = 1 ([{fd=4, revents=POLLHUP}]) Looking at what's running, I see that it's not even getting to the point where it makes the curl call. Any thoughts? Thanks!

  • Make object available within php functions without passing them or making them global

    - by Matt
Hey all, This requirement is just for simplicity for developers and beautiful code. I'm building a template system and I really would just like an object variable to simply be there in all functions. Here's some code: Librarian.php: $class = "slideshow"; $function = "basic"; $args = array(...); $librarian = $this; // I WOULD LIKE THIS TO BE PRESENT IN CALLED FUNCTION ... return call_user_func($class.'::'.$function, $args); ... Slideshow.php: public static function basic($args) { echo $librarian; // "Librarian Object" } Thanks! Matt Mueller

  • Cleaning up nasty characters in PHP

    - by Simon Hume
Hi folks, Got a little issue where my client is pasting in content from Word into my little text editor in a CMS. The double quotes are coming back encoded in what looks like some form of UTF. Any ideas if I can strip/replace these using PHP when they get displayed out of my mySQL table. Here is the link to the page that spits out the dodgy characters, you can see the 'black diamonds of doom' which are causing the headaches. http://linq.milkbarstudios.com/news_detail.php?id=3 Any suggestions would be greatly accepted!

  • Replacing backslash with another symbol in PHP

    - by Skyfe
Hi there, Been struggling with replacing a backslash by another symbol such as '.-.' just to indicate the position of backslashes as I could not send a string such as 'C\xampp\etc.' through url as GET variable so I thought I'd first replace the backslashes in that string by another symbol, then send through url, and then replace them back to backslashes in the PHP file that handles it. Though would there be a better way to send such strings through url? Because when I try a script such as: $tmp_name = preg_replace("\", ".-.", $_FILES['uploadfile']['tmp_name']); It turns out into a php error as \ is also used as delimiter.. Could anyone help me out on this? Thanks in advanced! Btw, if I'd be able to send a full array through url, this whole problem would be solved, but I don't think it's possible?

  • PHP Processes reaching limit along with FastCGI timeouts

    - by Constant M
    I have a problem similar to http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1168384/how-to-troubleshoot-php-processes, but with a twist. We have a couple of managed servers that recently migrated to FastCGI. Since then we've been having problems. We have a content management system at a central place that we manage all our sites with. All the sites run on the same managed server. So basically its one PHP script that generates pages on the same server. The catch comes in where it works perfectly on some, and gives FCGI timeout errors on others. At the same time our support is saying that the PHP processes heap up to their limit and then causes Apache to stop working. I'm convinced this is a fault on their side, but would like to get my side clean too. Anyway have any suggestions where I can start looking for what's going wrong? I know it's a really broad question, but any help or pointers would be great. Thanks Just to add to that, here's a PS printout from support: happyh 13853 21556 0 01:04 ? 00:00:00 /usr/bin/php5-cgi happyh 13869 13853 0 01:04 ? 00:00:00 /usr/bin/php5-cgi mamedc 13914 21556 0 05:14 ? 00:00:00 /usr/bin/php5-cgi wealthf 13947 21556 0 01:21 ? 00:00:00 /usr/bin/php5-cgi wealthf 13961 13947 0 01:21 ? 00:00:00 /usr/bin/php5-cgi mamedc 14032 13914 0 05:14 ? 00:00:00 /usr/bin/php5-cgi lookgrt 14157 21556 0 04:47 ? 00:00:00 /usr/bin/php5-cgi lookgrt 14178 14157 0 04:47 ? 00:00:00 /usr/bin/php5-cgi wolfie 14262 21556 0 01:08 ? 00:00:00 /usr/bin/php5-cgi wolfie 14276 14262 0 01:08 ? 00:00:00 /usr/bin/php5-cgi yaukrl 14352 21556 0 01:21 ? 00:00:00 /usr/bin/php5-cgi yaukrl 14361 14352 0 01:21 ? 00:00:00 /usr/bin/php5-cgi itpays2 14538 21556 0 01:33 ? 00:00:00 /usr/bin/php5-cgi itpays2 14547 14538 0 01:33 ? 00:00:00 /usr/bin/php5-cgi brichmbx 14732 21556 0 04:47 ? 00:00:00 /usr/bin/php5-cgi brichmbx 14803 14732 0 04:47 ? 00:00:00 /usr/bin/php5-cgi greatl 14969 21556 0 01:00 ? 00:00:00 /usr/bin/php5-cgi

  • Translate a webpage in PHP

    - by Rob
I'm looking to translate a webpage in PHP 5 so I can save the translation and make it easily accessible via mydomain.com/lang/fr/category/article.html rather than users having to go through google translate. I've found various easy ways to translate text via CURL, however what i'd really like to be able to do is translate an entire webpage but obviously ignore the tags. The problem is that Google Translate messes up all the HTML tags, class names etc Does anyone know of a php class that can translate an entire webpage whilst ignoring the tags? I'm guessing it may be possible via advanced regular expressions or something like that, but i'm not sure. I can't just curl Google's response as i'll have all the extra JS that they put in. Any ideas?

    - by Jagdeep Singh
    I am having a problem in php switch case. When i set $number=0 it should run very first case but here this code returns 10-20K that is in second case. I checked comparison operators, tested them in if else case they return correct values but here first case do not run on $number=0 Why is this happening ? php consider 0 as false or something wrong in code ? Link to codepad paste http://codepad.org/2glDh39K also here is the code <?php $number = 0; switch ($number) { case ($number <= 10000): echo "0-10K"; break; case ($number > 10000 && $number <= 20000): echo "10-20K"; break; case ($number > 20000 && $number <= 30000): echo "20-30K"; break; case ($number > 30000 && $number <= 40000): echo "30-40K"; break; case ($number > 40000 && $number <= 50000): echo "40-50K"; break; case ($number > 50000 && $number <= 60000): echo "50-60K"; break; case ($number > 60000 && $number <= 70000): echo "60-70K"; break; case ($number > 70000 && $number <= 80000): echo "70-80K"; break; case ($number > 80000 && $number <= 90000): echo "80-90K"; break; case ($number > 90000): echo "90K+"; break; default: //default echo "N/A"; break; } ?>

  • RSA Encrypt in PHP to decrypt in .NET

    - by user312904
In PHP I am RSA encrypting a message to be decrypted by .NET application... but I keep getting a "Bad Key" exception from .NET.... For RSA encryption, I am using PEAR class Crypt_RSA- encrypting with the public key (which is a modulus, exponent pair) I get from working encryption system in .NET... I guess the easiest question would be- does "Bad Key" mean it is not able to decrypt the message whatsoever? IE, it is not encrypted correctly? The harder question is- Is there anything specific about RSA encryption that causes quirks between .NET and PHP?

  • Using Java server-side with PHP-generated front-end

    - by Storm
Hi!  Does anyone have a real-world experience in building such a project? I'd like to move away questions about "is it good idea or not", but focus on possible solutions. I see one simple way - HTTP GET/POST + xml/json - and one more elegant - AJAX/DWR. As for the first one - I understand that it is possible, but needs quite a lot coding. As for second way - is it possible to use Java DWR engine with PHP front-end? Is DWR language-independent for client side (as it uses just JavaScript)?  Would it be a problem, that client page was generated by one web server (for example, apache+php) and served on server-side by another (for example, tomcat)? I suspect, that Tomcat will complain about sessions. Can this problem be fixed with allowing cross-domain AJAX? Thank you in advance. Denis.

  • Help Reading Binary Image Data from SQL Server into PHP

    - by Joe Majewski
I cannot seem to figure out a way to read binary data from SQL server into PHP. I am working on a project where I need to be able to store the image directly in the SQL table, not on the file system. Currently, I have been using a query like this one: INSERT INTO myTable(Document) SELECT * FROM OPENROWSET(BULK N'C:\image.jpg', SINGLE_BLOB) as BLAH This works fine to actually insert the image into the table, but I haven't yet figured a way to retrieve it and get my image back. I am doing this with PHP, and ultimately will have to make a stored procedure out of it, but can anyone enlighten me on a way to get that binary data (varbinary(MAX)) and generate an image on the fly. I expected it to be simple to use a SELECT statement and add a content-type to the headers that indicated it was an image, but it's simply not working. Instead, the page will just display the name of the file, which I have encountered in the past and understand it to be an error with the image data.

  • need identical string comparison function in php and java

    - by steelbytes
I have sorted list of strings that I move between php and java. to be able to bsearch on this data, I need the same comparison function. any idea what string compare functions I can use that will always give the same result in both? eg php's strcmp() vs java's String.compareTo() yes I know I could make my own string compare that does char by char carefully, but I was hoping there's a simple answer. PS, don't care if case sensitive or not, as long as it is consistant.

  • Build Systems for PHP Web Apps

    - by macinjosh
I want to start automating more of my web development process so I'm looking for a build system. I write mostly PHP apps on Mac OS X and deploy Linux servers over FTP. A lot of my clients have basic hosting providers so shell access to their servers is typically not available, however remote MySQL access is usually present. Here is what I want to do with a build system: When Building: Lint JavaScript Files Validate CSS Files Validate HTML Files Minify and concatenate JS and CSS files Verify PHP Syntax Set Debug/Production flags When Deploying Checkout latest version from SVN Run build process Upload files to server via FTP Run SQL scripts on remote DB I realize this is a lot of work to automate but I think it would be worth it. So what is the best way to start down this path? Is there a system that can handle builds and deploys, or should I search for separate solutions? What systems would you recommend?

  • PHP photo gallery with multiple upload form

    - by NightMICU
Hi everyone, I am trying to develop a PHP driven gallery with a form that has at least four file upload boxes, each with its own title and caption. I have been using php.upload.class to process uploaded photos but not sure how I would go about handling each individual upload while preserving its details (title, caption). Is there a practical way to do this or should I instead upload just the photos and then have the user add titles and captions on the next page? Any help/suggestion would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

  • Serializing array in PHP, preventing injection

    - by Cyclone
I'm writing a PHP script which uses serialized arrays to store data. How can I prevent injection in serialization? It would be very easy to name your account: something";s:6:"access";s:5:"admin"; for a simple example. The user could then add the rest of the needed parameters somehow. Would addslashes work for this? Does the php unserialize pick up on that as being an escaped character? If so, is it possible to apply addslashes to an entire array without iterating through? Thanks for the help!
