• Any web services with APIs for outsourcing webapp transactional email? [closed]

  My webapp needs to send customized messages to members and I'm wondering if there is an inexpensive and easy to use web service that would meet my needs. The types of mail I will be sending include: New account activation email (sent ASAP) Daily status report of user's account (sent anytime) Event reminders (sent at specific time) Specifically, I would like the following features: RESTful API to add an email message into the send queue A way to add a priority to each message (account signup activations should be sent immediately, while a daily status report could be sent anytime each day) They manage the sending of mail and the processing of bounces Possibly, they manage opt-out/opt-in features They offer features such as DKIM, VERP, etc. If their service determines an address is undeliverable (via VERP or other means, a user unsubscribes, etc), they make a RESTful call to my web service to notify me Nice if they had some reporting features, WebBugs, link tracking, etc. What I am NOT looking for is an email marketing service that caters only to sending out copies of the same mail to masses of recipients. I need to send out unique and custom messages to individuals. I had a chat with MailChimp about using their services for sending these types of messages and they said their service does not support customized emails per recipient. Edit: I just discovered a service called JangoSMTP that appears to meet many of my requirements. It provides an API for sending mail, supports DKIM, bounce management, and even feedback loops. Unfortunately, their idea of inexpensive doesn't mesh with mine, as it would cost $180/mo to send a single daily message to my 1000 users.

• Google Drive API invalid_grant after removing access

  I have been writing a desktop application that uses the Google Drive API v2. Everything worked successfully until I realized I was using the wrong Google account. At that point I logged into the wrong Google account and revoked access to my App. Now, whenever I run the same code it throws an exception: Error:"invalid_grant", Description:"", Uri:"" When I examine the service and request objects, it looks like the oauth_token isn't getting created any more. I know what I did to mess things up, but I can't figure out how to correct it so I can use a different Google account for testing. What do I need to do?

• Delay android PlusClient login request

  I am trying to implement the new PlayServices API within my android application to use a +1 button. I have it working nicely, all the expected functionality is there. However it has one rather annoying feature (seriously google!). When you instance the plusclient: mPlusClient = new PlusClient(this, this, this, Scopes.PLUS_PROFILE); Your user is presented with a "Pick your account" dialog (if they have more than one account) followed by a "grant access" dialog. I understand the need for these steps, however they really get in the way of the user experience! My initial activity (post splash screen) now has the +1 button, which means that you have to instance the PlusClient. Doing so in the onCreate() method (as google suggests) means that my user is given the "authorisation" screen before they even know what is going on! What I want to do it delay that untill they actually click the +1 button. That way they will know why they are being asked to authorise access to their account! Any ideas? I have tried using an onClick listener on the +1 button to instance but it didn't work.

  I'm trying to optimize SQL queries in Akonadi and came across the following problem that is apparently not easy to solve with SQL, at least for me: Assume the following table structure (should work in SQLite, PostgreSQL, MySQL): CREATE TABLE a ( a_id INT PRIMARY KEY ); INSERT INTO a (a_id) VALUES (1), (2), (3), (4); CREATE TABLE b ( b_id INT PRIMARY KEY, a_id INT, name VARCHAR(255) NOT NULL ); INSERT INTO b (b_id, a_id, name) VALUES (1, 1, 'foo'), (2, 1, 'bar'), (3, 1, 'asdf'), (4, 2, 'foo'), (5, 2, 'bar'), (6, 3, 'foo'); Now my problem is to find entries in a that are missing name entries in table b. E.g. I need to make sure each entry in a has at least the name entries "foo" and "bar" in table b. Hence the query should return something similar to: a_id = 3 is missing name "bar" a_id = 4 is missing name "foo" and "bar" Since both tables are potentially huge in Akonadi, performance is of utmost importance. One solution in MySQL would be: SELECT a.a_id, CONCAT('|', GROUP_CONCAT(name ORDER BY NAME ASC SEPARATOR '|'), '|') as names FROM a LEFT JOIN b USING( a_id ) GROUP BY a.a_id HAVING names IS NULL OR names NOT LIKE '%|bar|foo|%'; I have yet to measure the performance tomorrow, but severly doubt it's any fast for tens of thousand of entries in a and thrice as many in b. • Double join with habtm in ActiveRecord

  I have a weird situation involving the need of a double inner join. I have tried the query I need, I just don't know how to make rails do it. The Data Account (has_many :sites) Site (habtm :users, belongs_to :account) User (habtm :sites) Ignore that they are habtm or whatever, I can make them habtm or has_many :through. I want to be able to do @user.accounts or @account.users Then of course I should be able to do @user.accounts < @some_other_account And then have @user.sites include all the sites from @some_other_account. I've fiddled with habtm and has_many :through but can't get it to do what I want. Basically I need to end up with a query like this (copied from phpmyadmin. Tested and works): SELECT accounts.* FROM accounts INNER JOIN sites ON sites.account_id = accounts.id INNER JOIN user_sites ON sites.id = user_sites.site_id WHERE user_sites.user_id = 2 Can I do this? Is it even a good idea to have this double join? I am assuming it would work better if users had the association with accounts to begin with, and then worry about getting @user.sites instead, but it works better for many other things if it is kept the way it is (users <- sites).

How can i do such changes in fast and stable way .. i search for recommendations and case studies if exist ?

• How to create a String Array and link it to a Grade array

  I have a project that I need to create 2 Arrays, one to hold Student Names and one to hold Student Scores. The user inputs the size of the array, and the array needs to be sorted using BubbleSort (putting the high scores at the top). I have started the project, created the first array for scores, I have successfully done bubble sort and sorted the grades. Now I can't figure out how to make an array for Names, and once I do how do I make the names array correspond to the Grades array BubbleSort?   I'm working on a ruby baser lexer. To improve performance, I joined up all tokens' regexps into one big regexp with match group names. The problem here is that it's slow (I spend about 10% of time in the loop; also 8% grabbing the @input[@pos..-1] to make sure that \A works as expected to match start of string (I do not discard input, just shift the @pos in it). • is_dir does not recognize folders

  Hi I am trying to make a function that scans a folder for subfolders and then returns a numeric array with the names of those folders. This is the code i use for testing. Any help is appreciated.

• [RAILS] Why is ssl_requirement clearing the Flash? (Chrome Mac)

  I am using ssl_requirement and since setting it up, my application's Flash messages are disappearing. I've modified the plugin slightly as accounts can optionally have a domain mapped to their account. In that case the non-ssl areas of the site should use the mapped domain, whereas the ssl areas should use the subdomain: def ensure_proper_protocol return true if ssl_allowed? if ssl_required? && !request.ssl? redirect_to "https://#{@account.subdomain}." + APP_CONF[:domain] + request.request_uri flash.keep return false elsif request.ssl? && !ssl_required? redirect_to "http://#{@account.sub_or_mapped_domain}" + request.request_uri flash.keep return false end end The application is broadly split into a website (front end) and an admin (back end). ALL of the admin area uses SSL so in the AdminController I have overwritten ssl_required? with: protected def ssl_required? return false if RAILS_ENV == "test" || RAILS_ENV == "development" true end Interestingly, Flash messages work fine in the development environment, where I am bypassing requiring SSL, but in my production environment where SSL is required, all Flash are gone. Any ideas? EDIT I've done some further testing and can add that this problem is ONLY occurring in Chrome on the Mac. Other Mac browsers and Chrome on windows are displaying the Flash messages as expected. This may be a bug with Chrome on the Mac then...?

• Relating text fields to check boxes in Java

  This program requires the user to login and request a database to access. The program then gets a connection object, searches through the database storing the column names into a vector for later use. The problem comes with implementing text fields to allow the user to search for specific values within the database. I can get the check boxes and text fields to appear using a gridlayout and add them to a panel. How do I relate the text fields to their appropriate check box? I've tried adding them to a vector, but then they can't also be added to the panel as well. I've searched for a way to name the text fields as the loop cycles through the column names, but it seems impossible to do without having them declared ahead of time. This can't be done either, as it's impossible to determine the attributes that the user will request. I just need to be able to know the names of the text fields so I can test to see if the user entered information and perform the necessary logic. Let me know if you have to see the rest of the code to give an answer, but hopefully you get the general idea of what I'm trying to accomplish. • [MVC] logic before dispatcher + controller?

  I believe for a typical MVC web application the router / dispatcher routine is used to decide which controller is loaded based primarily on the area requested in the url by the user. However, in addition to checking the url query string, I also like to use the dispatcher to check whether the user is currently logged in or not to decide which controller is loaded. For example if they are logged in and request the login page, the dispatcher would load their account instead. But is this a fairly non-standard design? Would it violate MVC in any way? I only ask as the examples I've read through this weekend have had no major calculations performed before the dispatcher routine, and commonly check whether the user is logged in or not per controller, and then redirect where necessary. But to me it seems odd to redirect a logged in user from the login area to account area if you could just load the account controller in the first place? I hope I've explained my consternation well enough, but could anyone offer some details on how they handle logged in users, and similar session data?

• Protecting routes with authentication in an AngularJS app

  Some of my AngularJS routes are to pages which require the user to be authenticated with my API. In those cases, I'd like the user to be redirected to the login page so they can authenticate. For example, if a guest accesses /account/settings, they should be redirected to the login form. From brainstorming I came up with listening for the $locationChangeStart event and if it's a location which requires authentication then redirect the user to the login form. I can do that simple enough in my applications run() event: .run(['$rootScope', function($rootScope) { $rootScope.$on('$locationChangeStart', function(event) { // Decide if this location required an authenticated user and redirect appropriately }); }]); The next step is keeping a list of all my applications routes that require authentication, so I tried adding them as parameters to my $routeProvider: $routeProvider.when('/account/settings', {templateUrl: '/partials/account/settings.html', controller: 'AccountSettingCtrl', requiresAuthentication: true}); But I don't see any way to get the requiresAuthentication key from within the $locationChangeStart event. Am I overthinking this? I tried to find a way for Angular to do this natively but couldn't find anything.

• VB looping complication

  I have to come up with a program that shifts names in a text box a random amount of times. I have gotten everything up to the point where the names shifts a random amount of times. It only shifts its once, but my messagebox appears through the code as many times as the names should be shifting once i click ok. Does anyone know why the loop is not working for the name shifts. I was thinking maybe the messagebox needs to control the loop, but I have searched endlessly and cannot find how that would be done. Any suggestions or referrals to other sites would be nice thanks. My code is below. • Rails - Update a single attribute : link with custom action or form with hidden fields?

  Let's say I have a User model, with a facebook_uid field corresponding to the user's facebook id. I want to allow the user to unlink his facebook account. Do do so, I need to set this attribute to nil. I currently see 2 ways of doing this First way : create a custom action and link to it # app/controllers/users_controller.rb def unlink_facebook_account @user = User.find params[:id] # Authorization checks go here @user.facebook_uid = nil @user.save # Redirection go here end # config/routes.rb ressources :users do get 'unlink_fb', :on => :member, :as => unlink_fb end # in a view = link_to "Unlink your facebook account", unlink_fb_path(@user) Second way : create a form to the existing update action # app/views/user/_unlink_fb_form.html.haml = form_for @user, :method => "post" do |f| = f.hidden_field :facebook_uid, :value => nil = f.submit "Unlink Facebook account" I'm not a big fan of either way. In the first one, I have to add a new action for something that the update controller already can do. In the second one, I cannot set the facebook_uid to nil without customizing the update action, and I cannot have a link instead of a button without adding some javascript. Still, what would you recommend as the best and most elegant solution for this context? Did I miss a third alternative?

  I have a very big list of file names that end with a the following: .c .h .cpp and much more. I need to extract file names that end with .c and .h How do I do that? Also, how could I add quotation marks to the beginning and end of the word, followed with a comma? For example, if I have this in the list: mi_var.c How could I extract it from a very big list, and everything else that ends in .c and replace it to have quotation marks and a comma at the end? Like this: "mi_var.c", I'm new to this, any help is greatly appreciated. • What's a good way to integrate FB and Twitter into my commenting system (PHP)

  Hi Guys, There are so many options out there for integration. At the moment I have comments that are posted on my articles, where a user types in their name and the comment. This is then sent to a moderation queue and displayed when approved. I want to acheive this: Comment with facebook login (ie facebook account listed as the name w/ avatar) Comment with twitter login (ie twitter account name listed as the name w/ avatar) Push comment from my website to twitter and to facebook I could go down a few paths as far as I know: Integrate with XFBML, which I don't like because I find it annoying to setup and messy. Integrate facebook comments system, although this can't push to twitter, or allow me to moderate comments from my backend (as far as I can tell i'd have to login under the facebook login for the dev account to moderate the comment) Find a php class that does open auth and integrate with both face book and twitter at once find a pre-created php class Anyone have a solution that will bias: a. easy to integrate b. lightweight c. is free Thanks for your suggestions in advance.

• Sliding div in jquery

  I am trying to make a toolbar type section on the top of my site. I just need one div that will be hidden by default, and a button that will be hanging off the bottom of that div. When it is clicked, the div should slide down (with the button still on bottom). And upon clicking, it should slide back up. Here is what I currently have: <div id="account_toolbar" style="background-color:#fff;"> <div id="toolbar_contents" style="display:none;"> This is the account toolbar so far </div> <div id="button" style="background-color: #ff0000;"><%= image_tag "templates/_global/my_account.png", :id => "my_account_btn", :style => "float: right; margin-right: 100px;" %></div> </div> The image tag is using ruby/rails syntax, so pay no attention to that. It will render like any other image tag. Here is the jquery i'm using: $('#my_account_btn').click(function () { $('#toolbar_contents').slideToggle(); }); So, this is actually working for the most part. My problem however is that the spacing where the toolbar content div goes, pushes the account button down. When it slides up or down it temporarily attaches itself to the bottom of the div, then jumps back down once it is finished sliding (leaving a gap between the bottom of the hidden div and the top of the account button). I hope that makes sense. thanks

  I have very technical question, I was working with C, and now I'm studying C++, if I have for example this class class Team { private: list<Player> listOfPlayers; public: void addPlayer(string firstName, string lastName, int id) { Player newPlayer(string firstName, string lastName, int id); listOfPlayers.push_back(Player(string firstName, string lastName, int id)); } } this is a declaration of the Player: class Player{ private: string strLastName; string strFirstName; int nID; public: Player(string firstName, string lastName, int id); } and this is my constructor of Player: Player::Player(string firstName, string lastName, int id){ nId = id; string strFirstName = firstName; string strLastName = lastName; } so my question is when I call function addPlayer what exactly is going on with program, in my constructor of Account do I need to allocate new memory for new Account(cause in C I always use malloc) for strFirstName and strLastName, or constructor of string of Account and STL do it without me, thanks in advance (if you don't want to answer my question please at least give me some link with information) thanks in advance

  I am having trouble validating my xml schema. I get these errors on the schema 113: 18 s4s-elt-invalid-content.1: The content of '#AnonType_user' is invalid. 164: 17 s4s-elt-invalid-content.1: The content of '#AnonType_festival' is invalid. Element 'sequence' is invalid, misplaced, or occurs too often. and becuase of those 2 errors, i am getting loads of the same error. This is becuase the attribute id of the festival tag may be empty becuase there is not data for that festival cvc-datatype-valid.1.2.1: '' is not a valid value for 'integer'. cvc-attribute.3: The value '' of attribute 'id' on element 'festival' is not valid with respect to its type, 'integer'. • Are there alternatives to Sysinternals ADInsight?

  I had been using ADInsight from Sysinternals to trace Active Directory calls from my workstation, but the application has failed. Where previously the Active Directory events were traced and logged, now the window remains blank, whether the application is in capture mode or not. I have run as Administrator, rebooted, downloaded a new version; none of those actions has returned the program to a functional state. The Sysinternals forums don't offer much hope, since this tool is known to fail often. Is there tool that has similar functionality? Questions Does the tool fail when run from another workstation with your account? Yes Does it fail from your (and/or) another workstation using someone else's account? Yes Is there anything in the event log of your workstation? No

• Backup multiple Exchange Accounts without direct access to exchange server

  For e-mail, we use Microsoft Exchange and it is hosted by 1and1.com. We have about 30 Exchange accounts that I would like to backup to a PST file. That is, for each account that we have (all 30), I would like to create a single PST file (1.pst thru 30.pst). I do not have direct access to the Exchange server. Basically, for each Exchange account, I can supply: The IP address for the Exchange server or the URL to the OWA. The Username The Password Is there a tool out there that can do this for me? It seems that Microsoft's "Online Services Migration Tools" comes awfully close, but it appears that its geared to pull data out of any Exchange server and push it into Microsoft Online. I don't believe it can be used to simply pull the data out and generate PST's.

• How do I get a .Net 4.0 app to coexist as an application under a SharePoint 2007 website in IIS v7?

  I have created a small .Net 4.0 website and installed it on my SharePoint server as a separate web site in IIS v7 (using port 8008 for now). I had to install the .Net 4 framework, set up the database, etc. and this all went smoothly and my app works as a standalone website. Now I am trying to get pages from my website to show up in SharePoint 2007. For various reasons (the SharePoint site is using SSL, security, etc.) I now need to move my .Net app to run under the SharePoint 2007 site in IIS. I have added it as an 'Application' and set it up with the same .Net v4 application pool and settings that were working when it was set up as a standalone site. Now when I try to access the application I get the error at the end of this description. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I already tried following the instructions on this post: http://blogs.msdn.com/sgoodyear/archive/2007/05/07/custom-web-applications-coexisting-with-sharepoint-2007.aspx but that did not help. Thanks!
