  • ASP.NET Development Server - Empty webResource.axd after conversion from 2.0 to 3.5

    I have moved a project from asp.net 2.0 to 3.5. The original project was using the atlas ajax extensions so I have modified the code to use the built in ajax features in 3.5. When running the project within the dev environemnt (VS2008 on Vista Business SP1) and using the asp.net dev server I receive javascript errors such as WebForm_PostBackOptions which point to a missing handler/module. If I deploy the project and run it stand alone within IIS or if I use Fiddler2 while running in VS2008 I do not see the errors and fiddler shows that the axd files are being downloaded correctly. Also deploying to a 2003 server does not show any issues. I could just carry on and forget this as it works when deployed but I would like to understand what is happening. Has anyone got an ideas as to what is going on here and how to get the same results accross all environments?

  • slide animation skipped when using updatepanel callback

    Hey, I'm trying to use UpdatePanels and JQuery but the panels seem to cancel out the JQuery. I want the user to press the search button, have the system perform the search using AJAX and then display the search results by sliding down the div using JQuery. However, it seems that if there are any delays, (I put the thread to sleep for a second), then the results just appear instead of sliding down. If I remove the sleep thread the sliding animation is fine. I've got the code below to execute the JQuery once the AJAX is loaded: <script type="text/javascript"> var prm = Sys.WebForms.PageRequestManager.getInstance(); prm.add_pageLoaded(showDiv); function showDiv(sender, args){ $("#results_bar").slideDown('slow'); } </script> Any ideas why the animation is skipped if there's a delay?     Basically, I want to translate the following into Seaside Smalltalk: $(".myDiv").bind('click', function(e) { console.log(e); }); Besides that I don't want to console.log the event, but access it in my ajax callback. The most promising approach seemed to be something like html div onClick: (html jQuery ajax callback: [:v | self halt] value: (???); with: 'Foo'. But I couldn't find any way to access the event that caused the callback. Intuitively, I would try html jQuery this event for the ??? part, but the Seaside jQuery wrapper doesn't know any message that comes close to event. Any help is appreciated. There has to be away to access the event data...

    hello All, I am new to the programming world of dojo and web applications. I am trying to acomplish a task where I want to manipulate the textbox value with some text. I tried everything including some code from dojocampus, but even this code doesnot do anything. I have also tried to create an instance , with dojo.widget.byId and dijit.byId and then tried the instance.value = 'newtext' and everything that I could find but for some reason , the textbox is not updating.   • Insert an ajaxified Webpart into an existing MOSS site

    Hi everybody, I need to code a webpart which purpose is to asynchronously fetch some documents and display them into an existing page. Unfortunately I have to face a lot of rescritcions and my struggle to find a solution seems useleess so far. 1) I cannot use Microsoft asp.net ajax 2) I must use Jsonp because the called service (page, whatever...) is outside the site's domain. That's not a big problem. 3) I have no possibility to alter the existing page code, so I cannot reference an external library such as JQuery. 4) For the same reason I have no possibility to call my methods on the window.onLoad event, so here the question is: how can I be sure that everything is correctly loaded before triggering my ajax call? 5) Since several instances of the same webpart can be placed into the same page, can there be some possible conflicts among the various js functions?

  • Connect sortable lists together and update SQL using jQuery UI

    I'm using jQuery UI's sortable lists to sort items in a todo list, and the reordering of the lists works like a charm. I have several UL lists for each todo category, i.e. Design, Development, etc. I want to be able to move an item from one category to another, and jQuery UI's sortable lists plugin allows me to do this with the connectWith option parameter. But I can't seem to find how to update the database as well. The todo database table has a field for a reference to the category which is laying in it's own table.     I have a simple form that generates a new photo gallery, sending the title and a description to MySQL and redirecting the user to a page where they can upload photos. Everything worked fine until the ampersand entered the equation. The information is sent from a jQuery modal dialog to a PHP page which then submits the entry to the database. After Ajax completes successfully, the user is sent to the upload page with a GET URL to tell the page what album it is uploading to -- $.ajax ({ type: "POST", url: "../../includes/forms/add_gallery.php", data: $("#addGallery form").serialize(), success: function() { $("#addGallery").dialog('close'); window.location.href = 'display_album.php?album=' + title; } }); If the title has an ampersand, the Title field on the upload page does not display properly. Is there a way to escape ampersand for GET? Thanks

    Hello, I'm wondering if anyone can help me understand some asynchronous javascript concepts... Say I make an asynch ajax call like so: xmlhttp=new XMLHttpRequest(); xmlhttp.onreadystatechange= myFoo; xmlhttp.open("GET",url,true); Here is my callback function: function myFoo() { if (xmlhttp.readyState==4) { if (xmlhttp.status==200) { // Success message } else { // some error message } } } Now, where and when does the execution path start again? Once I make the call to open(), does execution continue directly below the open() and another "thread" enters the asynch function once the ajax request has been completed? Or, does the browser wait for the request to complete, make the Asynch call, and then execution continues right after the open? Thanks!

  • Real-time data on webpage with jQuery

    I would like a webpage that constantly updates a graph with new data as it arrives. Regularly, all the data you have is passed to the page at the beginning of the request. However, I need the page to be able to update itself with fresh information every few seconds to redraw the graph. Background The webpage will be similar to this http://www.panic.com/blog/2010/03/the-panic-status-board/. The data coming in will temperature values to be graphed measured by an Arduino and saved to the Django database (this part is already complete). Update It sounds as though the solution is to use the jQuery.ajax() function ( http://api.jquery.com/jQuery.ajax/) with a function as the .complete callback that will schedule another request several seconds later to a URL that will return the data in JSON format. How can that method be scheduled? With the .delay() function?

    I need to be able to add some javascript to all ajax postback responses (PartialViewContext.isAjaxRequest == true) but I am not succeeding with any implementation I try. I have tried implementing a PhaseListener and adding my script using PartialResponseWriter.insert* to add eval blocks, as well as trying to add the script by creating a script element. (Results in CDATA cannot nest, or just invalid XML) I have tried decorating PartialViewContextFactory to override the PartialViewContext.processPartial and add the script after the wrapped instance has processed it... How should I go about adding sripts to an Ajax response? Something similar to what .NET has with Scriptmanager.registerClientScriptBlock preferably. Thank you

I see one simple way - HTTP GET/POST + xml/json - and one more elegant - AJAX/DWR. As for the first one - I understand that it is possible, but needs quite a lot coding. As for second way - is it possible to use Java DWR engine with PHP front-end? Is DWR language-independent for client side (as it uses just JavaScript)?  Would it be a problem, that client page was generated by one web server (for example, apache+php) and served on server-side by another (for example, tomcat)? I suspect, that Tomcat will complain about sessions. Can this problem be fixed with allowing cross-domain AJAX? Thank you in advance. Denis.

    I have a dynamically generated form that allows users to enter new data and edit existing data. When the form is submitted, it collates the input values and groups them according to whether they are new or not, the former being denoted by class="new-entry". So the function generates two arrays: updateData and insertData. Both arrays are of similar formats: [ 0: { 'id' = 1, 'value' = foo }, 1: { 'id' = 1, 'value' = 'bar' }, etc... ] I am combining them into a new array object to send via ajax to the controller: var postData = { 'update_data': updateData, 'insert_data': insertData }; Then in the ajax call: $.post(url, postData, function() { // some code }); However, in the controller, doing print_r($this->input->post()) or print_r($_POST) as a test only returns Array(). Even $this->input->post('update_data') returns nothing. How can I retrieve these arrays in the controller?

  • Why are $_POST variables getting escaped in PHP?

    When my PHP script receives data from an AJAX POST request, the $_POST variables are escaped. The really strange thing is that this only happens on my production server (running PHP 5.2.12 on Linux) and not on my local server (running PHP 5.3.1 on Windows).   • asp.net mvc: What is the correct way to return html from controller to refresh select list?

    Hi, I am new to ASP.NET MVC, particularly ajax operations. I have a form with a jquery dialog for adding items to a drop-down list. This posts to the controller action. If nothing (ie void method) is returned from the Controller Action the page returns having updated the database, but obviously there no chnage to the form. What would be the best practice in updating the drop down list with the added id/value and selecting the item. I think my options are: 1) Construct and return the html manually that makes up the new <select> tag [this would be easy enough and work, but seems like I am missing something] 2) Use some kind of "helper" to construct the new html [This seems to make sense] 3) Only return the id/value and add this to the list and select the item [This seems like an overkill considering the item needs to be placed in the correct order etc] 4) Use some kind of Partial View [Does this mean creating additional forms within ascx controls? not sure how this would effect submitting the main form its on? Also unless this is reusable by passing in parameters(not sure how thats done) maybe 2 is the option?] UPDATE: Having looked around a bit, it seems that generating html withing the controller is not a good idea. I have seen other posts that render partialviews to strings which I guess is what I need and separates concerns (since the html bits are in the ascx). Any comments on whether that is good practice.
