  • how does sizeof work with array in C++

    Hi, I was told the array name is a pointer char a[] = "a" but when sizeof(a) = 2 why not it is a size of pointer here? however when I define it like this char* a ="a"; we get sizeof(a) =4; Well, I think I need more information about how does sizeof work with the array names....   • Need a scenario where would fail Array.ConstrainedCopy()

    Hi, Just playing around with some of the APIs in .NET and I can't seem to find a way to cause Array.ConstrainedCopy() fail. According to MSDN, it's treated as an atomic operation. If it fails during the copy, the entire call fails resulting in no elements being copied as opposed to its Array.Copy() counterpart. Can someone demonstrate this or tell me how to do this?

    Hi, this is my first question on Stackoverflow, please bear with me. I'm testing an algorithm for 2d bin packing and I've chosen PHP to mock it up as it's my bread-and-butter language nowadays. As you can see on http://themworks.com/pack_v0.2/oopack.php?ol=1 it works pretty well, but you need to wait around 10-20 seconds for 100 rectangles to pack. For some hard to handle sets it would hit the php's 30s runtime limit. I did some profiling and it shows that most of the time my script goes through different parts of a small 2d array with 0's and 1's in it. It either checks if certain cell equals to 0/1 or sets it to 0/1. It can do such operations million times and each times it takes few microseconds. I guess I could use an array of booleans in a statically typed language and things would be faster. Or even make an array of 1 bit values. I'm thinking of converting the whole thing to some compiled language. Is PHP just not good for it? If I do need to convert it to let's say C++, how good are the automatic converters? My script is just a lot of for loops with basic arrays and objects manipulations. Thank you! Edit. This function gets called more than any other.     I'm trying to represent the port number 9876 (or 0x2694 in hex) in a two byte array: class foo { public static void main (String args[]) { byte[] sendData = new byte[1]; sendData[0] = 0x26; sendData[1] = 0x94; } } But I get a warning about possible loss of precision: foo.java:5: possible loss of precision found : int required: byte sendData[1] = 0x94; ^ 1 error How can I represent the number 9876 in a two byte array without losing precision?

  • TeamCity GitHub Private Key Access Denied

    Does anyone know of a tutorial for using TeamCity with github with ssh private keys. I have tried to set up git hub to connect and I either get a authentication error or get access denied. I am running TeamCity on Windows 2003. I am running the build agent as a custom account. I am running the web server under the administrator account. I have create a key for the custom account and administrator account. I now get an error that: The connection test failed: com.jcraft.jsch.JSchException: java.io.FileNotFoundException: C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator.ssh (Access is denied) If anyone has successfully set this up please help. I am going on 3 hours into this and want to get it solved. Thanks.

    There seems to be an issue simulating the backspace key with java.awt.Robot. This thread seems to confirm this but it does not propose a solution. This works: Robot rob = new Robot(); rob.keyPress(KeyEvent.VK_A); rob.keyRelease(KeyEvent.VK_A); This doesn't: Robot rob = new Robot(); rob.keyPress(KeyEvent.VK_BACK_SPACE); rob.keyRelease(KeyEvent.VK_BACK_SPACE); Any ideas?     is there a way to send multiple startKey/endKey pairs to a view, akin to the keys: [] array that can be posted for keys? the underlying problem - let's say my documents have "categories" and timestamps. if i want all documents in the "foo" category that have a timestamp that's within the last two hours, it's simple: function (doc) { emit([doc.category, doc.timestamp], null); } and then query as GET server:5894/.../myview?startKey=[foo, |now - 2 hours|]&endkey=[foo, |now|] the problem comes when i want something in categories foo or bar, within the last two hours. if i didn't care about time, i could just pull directly by key through the keys collection. unfortunately, i have no such option with ranges. what i ended up doing in the meantime is rounding the timestamp to two-hour blocks, and then multiplexing the query out: POST server:5894/.../myview keys=[[foo, 0 hours], [foo, 2 hours], [bar, 0 hours], [bar, 2 hours]] it works, but will get messy if i want to go back a large amount of time (in relationship to the blocksize)

    I have got an(other) error while trying to upgrade our large project to SL4. I didn't write the original theme and my theme knowlege isn't great. In my SL3 app I have a datagrid themed like so: <!--Datagrid Style--> <Style TargetType="datagrid:DataGrid"> <Setter Property="RowHeaderStyle" Value="{StaticResource System.Windows.Controls.Primitives.DataGridRowHeader}"/> <Setter Property="RowBackground" Value="Transparent"/> <Setter Property="etc" Value="..."/> </Style> When I upgrade to SL 4 the first line in the XAML above gives a runtime error: Cannot find a Resource with the Name/Key System.Windows.Controls.Primitives.DataGridRowHeader Should I handle this differently in SL4?   • mySQL auto increment problem: Duplicate entry '4294967295' for key 1

    I have a table of emails. The last record in there for an auto increment id is 3780, which is a legit record. Any new record I now insert is being inserted right there. However, in my logs I have the occasional: Query FAIL: INSERT INTO mail.messages (timestamp_queue) VALUES (:time); Array ( [0] => 23000 [1] => 1062 [2] => Duplicate entry '4294967295' for key 1 ) Somehow, the autoincrement jumped up to the INT max of 4294967295 Why on god's green earth would this get jumped up so high? I have no inserts with an id field. The show status for that table, Auto_increment table now reads: 4294967296 How could something like this occur? I realize the id field should perhaps be a big int, but the worry I have is that somehow this thing jumps back up. Josh
