  • EF Code first + Delete Child Object from Parent?

    I have a one-to-many relationship between my table Case and my other table CaseReplies. I'm using EF Code First and now wants to delete a CaseReply from a Case object, however it seems impossible to do such thing because it just tries to remove the CaseId from the specific CaseReply record and not the record itself.. short: Case just removes the relationship between itself and the CaseReply.. it does not delete the CaseReply.   • Is writing eSQL database independant or not?

    Using EF we can use LINQ to read data which is rather simple (especialy using fluent calls), but we have less control unless we write eSQL on our own. Is writing eSQL database actually data store independant code? So if we decide to change data store, can the same statements still be used? Is writing eSQL strings in your code pose any serious security threats similar to writing TSQL statements in plain strings? So we moved to SPs. Could we still mode eSQL scripts outside of code as well and use some other technique to make them a bit more secure?

    I want to get all users that have a specific role to a list of usernames. Is using .Include to include all the users, and going through the UsersReference the best way to loop through all the users that are associated with the role? I noticed I could not do a foreach(User user in role.Users) but UsersReference seem to work, but is that how it's supposed to be done?   • Zend_Auth / Zend_Session error and storing objects in Auth Storage

    Hi All, I have been having a bit of a problem with Zend_Auth and keep getting an error within my Acl. Within my Login Controller I setup my Zend_Auth storage as follows $auth = Zend_Auth::getInstance(); $result = $auth->authenticate($adapter); if ($result->isValid()) { $userId = $adapter->getResultRowObject(array('user_id'), null)->user_id; $user = new User_Model_User; $users = new User_Model_UserMapper; $users->find($userId, $user); $auth->getStorage()->write( $user ); } This seems to work well and I am able to use the object stored in the Zend_Auth storage within View Helpers without any problems. The problem that I seem to be having is when I try to use this within my Acl, below is a snippet from my Acl, as soon as it gets to the if($auth->hasIdentity()) { line I get the exception detailed further down. The $user->getUserLevel() is a methord within the User Model that allows me to convert the user_level_id that is stored in the database to a meaning full name. I am assuming that the auto loader sees these kind of methords and tries to load all the classes that would be required. When looking at the exception it appears to be struggling to find the class as it is stored in a module, I have the Auto Loader Name Space setup in my application.ini.   • Zend + Pop Up's balloons on Server Problem

    Dear Friends from Stackoverflow, Please help me with a problem that i'm having when uploading my project to the server. I'm using pop up's balloons (http://mckay.cshl.edu/balloons.html) for a project using Zend FW and it works fine on my localhost. (I'm using MAMP on MacOSX) but when I upload the webpage to the server, the text inside the balloons is displayed but the images that form the balloon are not, so somehow the js does not recognize the url to the images (the path it's correct, i've checked several times). The server is an Ubuntu 9.04 virtual machine from rackspace.com, running a LAMP server. I'm using the REWRITE function in Apache, so i guess maybe that's the problem. The rewrite configuration is set up using a .htaccess file with the following content: SetEnv APPLICATION_ENV development Options +FollowSymlinks RewriteEngine ON RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteRule !.(js|ico|txt|gif|jpg|png|css|html)$ index.php Does anyone knows what the problem might be?     I have a Portlet that contains a form. Now what I want to achieve is the following. 1) A Porlet containing a form is called within a page via <?php $this->widget('form'); ?> 2) The user fills in this form and clicks on submit "The submit button should be an ajax button" 3) When submit has been pressed the form should call a method within the form portlet class and the form should be replaced with a Thank you message. 4) I only want the current view in the portlet replaced with another view.   • Mapped Stored Procedures in EF 1

    All, I'm using mapped Stored Procedures in EF 1. I've completed the following steps: 1) I've created my INSERT, UPDATE, and DELETE queries in SQL Server. 2) I've built the EDMX and imported the INSERT, UPDATE, and DELETE sprocs as part of my model. 3) I've set up a Stored Procedure Mapping on a table inside of my EDMX file. The INSERT, UPDATE, and DELETE sprocs were mapped accordingly. Using this approach, I would expect to rebuild the application (and mine builds successfully) and then see the Stored Procedures as available function names via my EDMX object, such as: _entities.InsertComment(..), _entities.UpdateComment(..), and _entities.DeleteComment(..) Intellisense is not picking these names up and I can't figure out why. If I perform these same steps using EF4, the function names are automatically picked up by Intellisense after adding the Stored Procedure Mappings. Is this a bug in EF1?   • Avoid compiling when using Decimal.Round() method (C#/CF)

    Is there a way to tell to VS2005 to get compiler error when using "some defined" method? It probably sounds strange, but I do not want to compile when using Decimal.Round(). Reason: CF does not round by "awayfromzero", so I created a method to do this job. But sometimes I (and team) forget that is not to use Decimal.Round. So I'd like to get a compiler error when using it.

    Im trying to use the Zend Frameworks ACL library in my code (in codeigniter) and after including the library in my controller I get this error: Fatal error: Cannot redeclare class Zend_Acl in C:\xampp\php\PEAR\Zend\Acl.php on line 48 If I remove the include to the Zend library I get this error instead Fatal error: Class 'Zend_Acl' not found in C:\xampp\htdocs\ISU-Cart\system\application\libraries\acl.php on line 3 Any help on this?

  • Zend_ACL isAllowed causes issues with dojo

    Hi all, I got an issue setting up Zend_Acl, I got it pretty well setup and running but I realised that in some forms where I'm using zend_dojo, dojo doesn't actualy gets loaded. Without going to I have setup my access list, as soon as I call the line isAllowed with the name of the resource taken from the request object, dojo is not loaded (I think) This is the code that breaks dojo: class MyPluginAcl extends Zend_Controller_Plugin_Abstract { public function __construct(Zend_Acl $acl) { $this->_acl = $acl; } public function preDispatch(Zend_Controller_Request_Abstract $request) { ..... $role = "guest" $resource = $request->getControllerName(); var_dump($resource) //Returns string(10)'myresource' $action = $request->getActionName(); if (!$this->_acl->isAllowed($role, $resource,$action)){ //Code to redirect somewhere } ...... } The thing that doesn't make sense are the following: If I do a var_dump($resource) I get a string(10)'myresource', still doesn't work If I set the $resource to be $resource = new Zend_Acl_Resource($request->getControllerName()); still doesn't work , but If I set $resource to have a string value, this whole thing works (eg. $resources = "myresource; it works. Any ideas ... Thanks

  • Should I remove all inheritance from my model in order to work with ria services?

    I've posted some questions on this before, but it's different. So consider a small portion of our model: Person Customer Employee Spouse Person is the base class which has 3 classes that inherit from it. These 4 are very central in our design and link to many other entities. I could solve all the problems I'm experiencing with ria-services by removing the inheritance but that would really increase the complexety of the model. The first problem I experienced was that I couldn't query for Customers, Employees or Spouses, but someone gave me a solution, which was to add something like this to the DomainService: public IQueryable<Employee> GetEmployees() { return this.ObjectContext.People.OfType<Employee>(); } public IQueryable<Customer> GetCustomers() { return this.ObjectContext.People.OfType<Customer>(); } public IQueryable<Spouse> GetSpouses() { return this.ObjectContext.People.OfType<Spouse>(); } Next I tried something that seemed very normal to me: var employee = new Employee() { //.... left out to reduce the length of this question }; var spouse = new Spouse() { //.... left out to reduce the length of this questions }; employee.Spouse = spouse; context.People.Add(spouse); context.People.Add(employee); context.SubmitChanges(); Then I get the following exception: Cannot retrieve an entity set for the derived entity type 'Spouse'. Use EntityContainer.GetEntitySet(Type) to get the entity set for the base entity type 'Person'. Even when the spouse is already in the database, and I retreive it first I get similar exceptions. Also note that for some reason in some places "Persons" is used instead of "People"... So how do I solve this problem, what am I doing wrong and will I keep running into walls when using ria services with inheritance? I found some references on the web, all saying it works and then some DomainService code in which they suposedly changed something but no details... I'm using VS2010 RC1 + Silveright 4

  • Cannot access new product attributes in grid display

    I added a couple new attribute to my products(a boolean "yes/no" fields). They are variables to enable/disable the price from displaying on the product detail page, and grid view. I managed to get it work on the product info page. But on product grid page I cant seem to access those variable. Specifically, the template i am working with is catalog/product/list.phtml. Ive tried adding them in the xml file like this layout/catalog.xml: <block type="catalog/product_list" name="product_list" template="catalog/product/list.phtml"> <action method="addAttribute"><name>DisplayPrice</name></action> <action method="addAttribute"><name>CustomOrder</name></action> </block> and I am trying to access the attributes like so in catalog/product/list.phtml: <?php echo $_product->getDisplayPriceName()?     I’m trying to achieve a similar affect in a WinForms application as a master form does with ASP.NET. My initial thoughts on this were to create a base form and declare it as abstract, but the compiler doesn’t seem to let me do this. public abstract partial class Master : Form { public Master() { InitializeComponent(); } } So I have two questions: Why will the compiler not let me do this? Am I using the wrong syntax or is this a genuine restriction. Can anyone suggest a workaround or better way to do this?   • Cyclic References and WCF

    I have generated my POCO entities using POCO Generator, I have more than 150+ tables in my database. I am sharing POCO entities all across the application layers including the client. I have disabled both LazyLoading and ProxyCreation in my context.I am using WCF on top of my data access and business layer. Now, When I return a poco entity to my client, I get an error saying "Underlying connection was closed" I enabled WCF tracing and found the exact error : Contains cycles and cannot be serialized if reference tracking is disabled. I Looked at MSDN and found solutions like setting IsReference=true in the DataContract method atttribute but I am not decorating my POCO classes with DataContracts and I assume there is no need of it as well. I won't be calling that as a POCO if I decorate a class with DataContract attribute Then, I found solutions like applying custom attribute [CyclicReferenceAware] over my ServiceContracts.That did work but I wanted to throw this question to community to see how other people managed this and also why Microsoft didn't give built in support for figuring out cyclic references while serializing POCO classes

  • Custom rowsetClass does not return values

    Hi, I'm quite new to Zend and the database classes from it. I'm having problems mapping a Zend_Db_Table_Row_Abstract to my rows. The problem is that whenever I try to map it to a class (Job) that extends the Zend_Db_Table_Row_Abstract class, the database data is not receivable anymore. I'm not getting any errors, trying to get data simply returns null. Here is my code so far: Jobs: class Jobs extends Zend_Db_Table_Abstract { protected $_name = 'jobs'; protected $_rowsetClass = "Job"; public function getActiveJobs() { $select = $this->select()->where('jobs.jobDateOpen < UNIX_TIMESTAMP()')->limit(15,0); $rows = $this->fetchAll($select); return $rows; } } Job: class Job extends Zend_Db_Table_Row_Abstract { public function getCompanyName() { //Gets the companyName } } Controller: $oJobs = new Jobs(); $aActiveJobs = $oJobs->getActiveJobs(); foreach ($aActiveJobs as $value) { var_dump($value->jobTitle); } When I remove the "protected $_rowsetClass = "Job";" line, so that the table row is not mapped to my own class, I get all the jobTitles perfectly.   • Entity Relationship Multiple 1:1's

    I have an application where I have a generic object (table) called Hull. Each hull in the table is unique. I have another object that has three hulls, but they are specifically the Port_Hull, Center_Hull and Starboard_Hull. Rather than create a One to Many relationship, I was trying to create a one to one relationship for each one, but this results in numerous errors unless I make the relationship from Hull to Vessel one to many (which it is not). Any idea how I go about this, or should I abandon the concept and make the vessel to hull relationship one to many and deal with lists that always have three entries? p.s. Using uniqueidentifiers as many users can be adding records while disconnected. Hull Table HullID uniqueidentifier (primary key) plus bunch of hull data fields Vessel Table VesselID uniqueidentifier (primary key) MainHullID uniqueidentifier (tried as key and non-key) PortHullID uniqueidentifier StarboardHullID uniqueidentifier plus bunch of Vessel data fields
