• Apache/passenger/ree doesn't interpret .rb files

  I'm trying to get apache + passenger + ree to work. I think I did everything (except for setting up rails env - for now I wanna run just pure ruby) described here: http://rvm.beginrescueend.com/integration/passenger/ But when I try to go to localhost/test.rb it doesn't interpret that file and just download it. • CrossPost access to data

  Hi, I have a search form on a page that posts back to itself and shows the results, all works fine. I now have a requirement to put the same search form on the site home page. This needs to post back to the search form and run the findResults code. Using the PostBackURL parameter on the home page form's submit button I can hit the search page ok. However, when using the following code in the Page_Load section of the search page I hit the problem of not being able to access data from the posting page as I get the following error message on the line starting "yearList.SelectedValue....": "'Site._default1.Protected WithEvents yearList As System.Web.UI.WebControls.DropDownList' is not accessible in this context because it is 'Protected'". • Camera rotation - First Person Camera using GLM

  I've just switched from deprecated opengl functions to using shaders and GLM math library and i'm having a few problems setting up my camera rotations (first person camera). I'll show what i've got setup so far. I'm setting up my ViewMatrix using the glm::lookAt function which takes an eye position, target and up vector // arbitrary pos and target values pos = glm::vec3(0.0f, 0.0f, 10.0f); target = glm::vec3(0.0f, 0.0f, 0.0f); up = glm::vec3(0.0f, 1.0f, 0.0f); m_view = glm::lookAt(pos, target, up); i'm using glm::perspective for my projection and the model matrix is just identity m_projection = glm::perspective(m_fov, m_aspectRatio, m_near, m_far); model = glm::mat4(1.0); I send the MVP matrix to my shader to multiply the vertex position glm::mat4 MVP = camera->getProjection() * camera->getView() * model; // in shader gl_Position = MVP * vec4(vertexPos, 1.0); My camera class has standard rotate and translate functions which call glm::rotate and glm::translate respectively void camera::rotate(float amount, glm::vec3 axis) { m_view = glm::rotate(m_view, amount, axis); } void camera::translate(glm::vec3 dir) { m_view = glm::translate(m_view, dir); } and i usually just use the mouse delta position as the amount for rotation Now normally in my previous opengl applications i'd just setup the yaw and pitch angles and have a sin and cos to change the direction vector using (gluLookAt) but i'd like to be able to do this using GLM and matrices. So at the moment i have my camera set 10 units away from the origin facing that direction. I can see my geometry fine, it renders perfectly. When i use my rotation function... camera->rotate(mouseDeltaX, glm::vec3(0, 1, 0)); What i want is for me to look to the right and left (like i would with manipulating the lookAt vector with gluLookAt) but what's happening is It just rotates the model i'm looking at around the origin, like im just doing a full circle around it. Because i've translated my view matrix, shouldn't i need to translate it to the centre, do the rotation then translate back away for it to be rotating around the origin? Also, i've tried using the rotate function around the x axis to get pitch working, but as soon as i rotate the model about 90 degrees, it starts to roll instead of pitch (gimbal lock?). Thanks for your help guys, and if i've not explained it well, basically i'm trying to get a first person camera working with matrix multiplication and rotating my view matrix is just rotating the model around the origin.

  Is there a way to create a strongly typed T4MVC ActionLink with a hash in it? For example, here is the link I'd like to create: <a href="/Home/Index#food">Feed me</a> But there's no extension to the T4MVC object that can do this. <%= Html.ActionLink("Feed me", T4MVC.Home.Index()) %> So, what I end up having to do is create an action, and then embed it that way: <a href="<%= Url.Action(T4MVC.Home.Index()) %>"#food>Feed me</a> This isn't very desirable. When I am opening the new tab it is also in the same path. i.e. the new tab's pwd will be /home/user/programs/c/ But what I want is when I am opening a new tab its pwd should be /home/user. • Announcing MySQL Enterprise Backup 3.7.1

  The MySQL Enterprise Backup (MEB) Team is pleased to announce the release of MEB 3.7.1, a maintenance release version that includes bug fixes and enhancements to some of the existing features. The most important feature introduced in this release is Automatic Incremental Backup. The new  argument syntax for the --incremental-base option is introduced which makes it simpler to perform automatic incremental backups. When the options --incremental & --incremental-base=history:last_backup are combined, the mysqlbackup command  uses the metadata in the mysql.backup_history table to determine the LSN to use as the lower limit of the incremental backup. You no longer need to keep track of the actual LSN (as in the option --start-lsn=LSN) or even the location of the previous backup (as in the option --incremental-base=dir:directory_path)This release also incudes various bug fixes related to some options used in MEB. The most important are few of them as listed below,1. The option --force now allows overwriting InnoDB data and log files in  combination with the apply-log and apply-incremental-backup options, and replacing the image file in combination with the backup-to-image and backup-dir-to-image options. 2. Resolved a bug that prevented MEB to interface with third-party storage managers to execute backup and restore jobs in combination with the SBT interface and associated --sbt* options for mysqlbackup. 3. • ASP.NET MVC 2 Areas 404

  Hey, Has anyone been able to get the Areas in ASP.NET MVC 2 to work? I created a new Area called "Secure" and placed a new controller in it named HomeController. I then Created a new Home/Index.aspx view. However, when I browse to http://localhost/myapp/Secure/ it gives a 404 resource cannot be found. http://localhost/myapp/Secure/Home gives the same error. The static/hierarchy one Works like a stack Entries are pushed when a user goes "deeper" into the site Entries are poped when user goes "up" into the site Is the same for all users (for a given page) Shows location rather than history A simple Example would be HOME - BIG CATEGORY - SMALL CATEGORY - ARTICLE The dynamic/historical one Works like a queue Entries are pushed at the end when a user goes to another page Entries are removed from the front when the maximum size is reached Is different for each user, since it is personalized. Shows timeline/history instead of location. A simple example would be SMALL CATEGORY - HOME - BIG CATEGORY - HOME The question is: Are there any ready-made JSF component for these types of navigation?

• Detecting your application's install path in Java?

  Hi, I have made a small application in Java and I would like to make a windows installer for it using the Nullsoft Scriptable Install System (http://nsis.sourceforge.net/Main_Page). The application I made needs to save user preferences somewhere and it currently saves it in the user's home directory (e.g. c:\Users\danny or /home/users/danny). However if the windows installer installs the application to e.g. c:\Program Files\whatever\ I should probably save the preferences file there too, right? How would I detect that directory path in Java? What would be a good cross-platform approach to this without losing the benefits of a windows uninstaller for windows users e.g. start menu icons, installer option, etc? Should I just continue saving my preferences in the user's home path and clutter it up? Thanks very much,

• Mostrar Imagenes en ListView utilizando ImageList WinForms

  El día de hoy veremos como trabajar con los controles ListView e Imagelist de WindowsForms para poder leer y mostrar una serie de imágenes. Antes de ello debo decir que pueden existir otras formas de mostrar imagenes que solo requieren un control por ejemplo con un Gridview pero eso será en otro post, ahora nos centraremos en la forma de realizarlo con los controles antes mencionados. Lo primero que haremos será crear un nuevo proyecto de windows forms, en mi caso utilizando C#, luego agregaremos un Control ImageList. Este control será el que utilicemos para almacenar todas las imágenes una vez que las hemos leído. Si revisamos el control, veremos que tenemos la opción de agregar la imágenes mediante el diseñador, es decir podemos seleccionarlas manualmente o bien agregarlas mediante código que será lo que haremos. Lo segundo será agregar un control ListView al Formulario, este será el encargado de mostrar las imagenes, eso sí, por ahora será solo mostrarlas no tendrá otras funcionalidades. Ahora, vamos al codeBehind y en el Evento Load del form empezaremos a codificar: Lo primero será, crear una nueva variable derivando DirectoryInfo, a la cual le indicaremos la ruta de nuestra carpeta de imágenes. En nuestro ejemplo utilizamos Application.StartUpPath para indicarle que vamos a buscar en nuestro mismo proyecto (en carpeta debug por el momento). DirectoryInfo dir = new DirectoryInfo(Application.StartupPath + @"\images");   Una vez que hemos creado la referencia a la ruta, utilizaremos un for para obtener todas la imágenes que se encuentren dentro del Folder que indicamos, para luego agregarlas al imagelist y empezar a crear nuestra nueva colección. foreach (FileInfo file in dir.GetFiles()) { try { this.imageList1.Images.Add(Image.FromFile(file.FullName)); }   catch { Console.WriteLine("No es un archivo de imagen"); } }   Una vez, que hemos llenado nuestro ImageList, entonces asignaremos al ListView sus propiedades, para definir la forma en que las imágenes se mostrarán. Un aspecto a tomar en cuenta acá será la propiedad ImageSize ya que está será la que definirá el tamaño que tendrán las imágenes en el ListView cuando sean mostradas. this.listView1.View = View.LargeIcon;   this.imageList1.ImageSize = new Size(120, 100);   this.listView1.LargeImageList = this.imageList1;   Por último y con ayuda de otro for vamos a recorrer cada uno de los elementos que ahora posee nuestro ImageList y lo agregaremos al ListView para mostrarlo for (int j = 0; j < this.imageList1.Images.Count; j++) { ListViewItem item = new ListViewItem();   item.ImageIndex = j;   this.listView1.Items.Add(item); } Como vemos, a pesar de que utilizamos dos controles distintos es realmente sencillo  mostrar la imagenes en el ListView al final el control ImageList, solo funciona como un “puente” que nos permite leer la imagenes para luego mostrarlas en otro control. Background: app has some "legacy" persistence code that does not use Hibernate, but has a home-grown cache implementation. New entities are Hibernate enabled. What I want: to use Terracotta for Hibernate 2nd level cache. I think I then want to slide out the home-grown cache impl and slide in ehcache (very similar semantically to home-grown version) - obviously I want Terracotta to back that EHCache as well. Confused with: Will I be telling Hibernate that ehcache is it's cache provider, then configure ehcache to use terracotta? So (hibernate | legacy-persistence)- ehcache - terracotta Am I on the right track? Forgive the newb question but the terracotta.org site really confuses me since so much of it it trying to sell me the commercial varieties.

  I've been messing around with T4 support in Mono and noticed a very cumbersome thing. The current directory when running T4 templates is the home directory. I need to be able to read a few files from the current project's directory but I'm at a loss for how to. <#@ template language="C#v3.5" #> <#@ output extension="txt" #> <#=System.IO.Directory.GetCurrentDirectory() #> yields /home/earlz where I want it to yield something like /home/earlz/MyProject How do I overcome this problem? Also, I tried the hostspecific and Host.ResolvePath, but I got a NotImplementedException

• Reach the same svn repository from a LAN connection and from a external connection

  I usually work with a svn repository located in my local office network. Sometimes, when I'm home, I need to connect to my office svn repository. The problem is that, when I'm in office, to reach the svn repo I use an internal LAN IP (like 192.168.1.200), but when I'm home the IP is different, because I reach the server from an externel connection. • Is it possible to write C# code as below and send email using network in different country?

  Is it possible to write C# code as below and send email using mnetwork in different country? MSExchangeWebServiceURL = mail.something.com/ews/exchange.asmx It's a web service URL. This works great when I run the same code from home network, my friends home network anywhere around, but when I run it from my client's location in Columbia it fails. I have a valid user name and password on that Exchange Server. Is there any configuration that I can set to achieve this? BTW this code below works when I run it within office network and any network within any home network. I have tried it at least with five friends network in Plano, Texas. I want this code to work running from any network in another country. My client in Columbia can connect to the web service using a browser using the same user name and password, but when I run the code above it is not able to connect to our web service.

  I've written a big sql script that creates a CSV file. I want to call a cronjob every night to create a fresh CSV file and have it available on the website. Say for example I'm store my file in '/home/sites/example.com/www/files/backup.csv' and my SQL is SELECT * INTO OUTFILE '/home/sites/example.com/www/files/backup.csv' FIELDS TERMINATED BY ',' OPTIONALLY ENCLOSED BY '"' LINES TERMINATED BY '\n' FROM ( .... MySQL gives me an error when the file already exists File '/home/sites/example.com/www/files/backup.csv' already exists Is there a way to make MySQL overwrite the file? I could have PHP detect if the file exists and delete it before creating it again but it would be more succinct if I can do it directly in MySQL.

• Calling linux utilities with options from within a Bash script.

  This is my first Bash script so forgive me if this question is trivial. I need to count the number of files within a specified directory $HOME/.junk. I thought this would be simple and assumed the following would work: numfiles= find $HOME/.junk -type f | wc -l echo "There are $numfiles files in the .junk directory." Typing find $HOME/.junk -type f | wc -l at the command line works exactly how I expected it to, simply returning the number of files. Why is this not working when it is entered within my script? Am I missing some special notation when it comes to passing options to the utilities? Thank you very much for your time and help.

  I'm trying to make a call to a controller via jQuery $.post, but the parameter for my controller method keeps getting a NULL value despite it appearing to be setup similar to other controller methods.   I am trying to compile this example in mono on ubuntu.
