• Java: how to tell if a line in a text file was supposed to be blank?

  I'm working on a project in which I have to read in a Grammar file (breaking it up into my data structure), with the goal of being able to generate a random "DearJohnLetter". My problem is that when reading in the .txt file, I don't know how find out whether the file was supposed to be a completely blank line or not, which is detrimental to the program. Here is an example of part of the file, How do i tell if the next line was supposed to be a blank line? Why isn't the System.out.println (" ") ; creating a line break?   I was wondering if there's a tool or a component for Delphi that can trace method execution line by line and create a log file. With this kind of tool it is easy to compare how method performs on two sets of input data by comparing two log files.   I have a Flash website template (four pages) that I made using AS 3.0 and Flash CS4. It is for an assignment involving movie clips. Currently on the main time line there is only one frame, and three layers: actions/menu/content. The actionscript on the main time line is simply: content_mc.stop (); There is a movie clip on the stage called “Content” that contains the content for each of the pages. Inside of that there is a “Menu” movie clip that contains and controls all of the navigation buttons. • how do I get a new line, after using float:left?

  What I am trying to do is have rows of images, 6 images in each row. Some of these images need to have another image floating on top of them (flush with the lower-right corner). I was able to get that to work from this thread: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/48474/how-do-i-position-one-image-on-top-of-another-in-html However, now I'm unable to get the new row after the 6th image. Neither <BR> or <P> create a new line. They simply push the next image down several pixels, but the image is still in the same line. It seems like the float style is interfering with the <BR> and/or <P>. I tried using different styles for the image that starts a new row, like float:none and display:block, but neither worked. The odd thing is that the new line starts after the 7th image.   Hi, I have a spinner in my home.class. When I click on the spinner, the process is stopped showing exception that WindowManager$BadTockenException is caught. I am calling this home.class from main.class which extends ActivityGroup. If I am simply run only the home.class, the spinner is showing all items. • How long would it take to learn Python?

  Hi all I have decided to take the time out after work to learn Python. Python appeals to me because at work (Web and eLearning Company), I have to follow out very repetitive tasks like delete all these tags, rename all these tasks and even more advanced repetive tasks. Additionally it would be good for me to get an understanding of Python first because of its fairly easy to learn syntax. How long would it take to learn the basics and go through these tutorials on Python (+ the Python tutorial)? I will only be spending 1 hour or so on it in the afternoons. http://openbookproject.net/thinkcs/python/english2e/index.html I have told my piano teacher I would like to take a month of learning piano to do this would this be adequate time? • Not able to see databases in symlinked folder

  I created a folder on my Dropbox and then symlinked it to both of my computers that I use for development. The folder is working correctly and I can see all the files in it from both computers. The problem arises when I try and access the databases from my MacBook Air. When I open up MAMP Pro and start the web service I can't connect to my development sites, at least from one of my computers. My questions are: Is this even a good idea to symlink the db folder for MAMP? If it is not then is the a smart way to develop locally on two machines? Can I prompt phpMyAdmin to reindex the db folder so it can start accessing the databases? I have tried shutting down both versions of the server software. I have restarted both machines. I am at a loss right now. -Josh

Our senior programmers have knowledge of how to do this, Although - I would like to know how you could go from converting a eLearning course from Flash into a application for Mac and PC, looking similar to Garageband's music lessons? What programming language was used to create Garageband on Mac? What is the best way to create a application that will work on PC, Mac, iPhone, iPad, Touch etc, Rather then using flash and Actionscript to create online based applications, that will only work in a browser on Mac and PC?   I am using Ubuntu 10.04 and for some time I had to keep a downgraded PHP 5.2 package because I need to run Zend encrypted scripts. Recently I noticed that Zend released beta version of their loader (http://forums.zend.com/viewtopic.php?f=57&t=1365&start=80#p22073) so I updated to the native PHP 5.3 package, downloaded the .so file, added this to php.ini ;zend_extension=/etc/php5/ZendOptimizer.so zend_extension=/etc/php5/ZendGuardLoader.so zend_loader.enable=1 zend_loader.disable_licensing=0 zend_loader.obfuscation_level_support=3 and restarted the server. Now I am getting this error: Fatal error: Incompatible file format: The encoded file has format major ID 1, whereas the Loader expects 4 in ... on line 0 Do you by chance know an easy fix for this? Or should I downgrade back and wait till when they release something more stable?

  I have a log-file where at the end of a series of lines you can see if this block is relevant now I'm looking for a command like sed to delete de blocks ending with "Content-Length: 0" and beginning with the last "--" before this line. I tried sed -n "/--/,/Content-Length: 0/d" but this takes the first "--" and the first "Content-Length: 0" and deletes it. ex : line 1 "--" line 2 line 3 "Content-Length: 20" line 4 "--" line 5 line 6 "Content-Length: 0" i want to delete line 4,5 and 6 not line 1 to 6 hohw can i do this?

• How can you add two lines of text on a single line in Word 2010?

  Odd title, wasn't sure how to word it. Basically, I have two separate fonts I want to be on the same line, for resume purposes. My name is in a large font at the top, and I want my email and website address right-aligned directly beside it, one on top of the other. However, I want the email and website to combine to the same height as my name. Is this even possible with Word? Surely it is. Here is an awesome graphic of what I'm hoping for. I know that I can use the following to open/update the view of a file, but then I lose focus to the Preview.app. open -a Preview foo.pdf I guess there might be some clever AppleScript commands to do so but so far I didn't find the right one. Alternatively I would be interested into transfering the focus back to my current application directly after the update. I need this in order to update Preview.app's view of a PDF file through a vi autocmd after I update the PDF file according to changes in a TeX file I am editing. • Why can't PHP script write a file on server 2008 via command line or task scheduler?

  I have a PHP script. It runs well when I use a browser. It writes an XML file in the same directory. The script takes ~60 seconds to run, and the resulting XML file is ~16 MB. I am running PHP 5.2.13 via FastCGI on Server 2008 64 bit. I created a task in task scheduler to run c:\php5\php.exe "D:\inetpub\tools\something.php" No error returned, but no file created. If I run this same path and argument at a command line it does not error and does not create the file. I am doing a simple fopen fwrite fclose to save the contents of a php variable to a .xml file, and the file only gets created when the script is run through the browser. Thanks

• Is there a way to prevent output from backgrounded tasks from covering the command line in a shell?

  I would like to be able to run task(s) in the background of a shell and not have their output to stdout or stderr cover the command line at the bottom. Frequently I need to run other commands to interact with the background processes and would like to do so from the same shell without having to open up another terminal or using multiplexer to split the terminal like screen. Ideally there would be some setting that I just don't know about (I commonly use bash or ksh), but a new or different shell or a script would be fine by me. I'm open to any suggestions and appreciate any help, thanks.

  I want to subscribe to a youtube channel and automatically download new videos to my linux machine. I know I could do this e.g. with miro, but I will not watch the videos using Miro, want to choose the quality and would like to run it as a cronjob. It should be able to: know which feed entries are new and not download old entries resume (or at least redownload) failed/incomplete downloads from older sessions Are there any complete solutions for this? If not it would be enough for me (maybe even preferable) to just have a command line rss reader that remembers which entries have already been there and writes the new video urls (e.g. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FodYFMaI4vQ&feature=youtube_gdata from http://gdata.youtube.com/feeds/api/users/tedxtalks/uploads) into a file. I could then accomplish the rest using a bash script and youtube-dl. What would be programs usable for this purpose?

• Anyone love/hate the PowerConnect line of switches from Dell?

  I am looking at replacing some unmanaged 16 port store bought GB switches and wanted to go with Cisco but it may be cost prohibitive. Instead I am looking at ProCurve or Dell's PowerConnect line up. I am looking for SNMP, Management, VLANs, and SFLOW would icing on the switch cupcake. I would get the 6224 or the 6248 and then maybe add the RPS-600 to it for redundant power. I think the RPS-600 supports multiple switches. Rackspace is also a little challenge so I am trying to do it with as little Rack Units as possible. Ideally I would go with two 6224's or a single 6248 and then do two VLANs. Thanks for any feedback.   Is there a way to get the number of tiffs in a multi-tiff with a command line utility in ImageMagick? What I want to to is to extract (split) the multi-tiff into single files. However if the tiff only contains one tiff (is not a multi-tiff), I would like to do nothing at all... Also if I use the "%d"-option to name the output files I get the "%d" in the file name if it is only one. ...or is there another way to use ImageMagick to avoid strange filenames when converting?

  I manage a server with two-factor authentication. I have to use the Google Authenticator iPhone app to get the 6-digit verification code to enter after entering the normal server password.   I find dismounting a USB drive takes far too many mouse clicks for my liking. Is there are command line way of doing it (XP and Vista)? Addition I have an eye condition that makes hand mouse coordination difficult so any suggestion that there aren't too many clicks will be downvoted as not answering my question. However I use AutoHotkey a lot and one use case would be to call it from an AHK script. So if there is a way to code it in AHK that will do. Added this to the tags. Further question - is it safe to remove a disk when the computer is a. on Standby or b. Hibernated. I recall that W2000 got uspet if you pulled a disk from a hibernated machine. Or is it better to explicitly dismount or sync before you hibernate or standby - prabably in a script.
