Windows 7 Internet streaming capability lets you share presentations, video and music with clients in the office or on the road — without a laptop. We’ll show you how in a few simple steps.
Just did a fresh install of Precise Pangolin on my laptop and noticed that the middle-click (actually three finger-tap on the touchpad) on Firefox doesn't work as it used to. When doing it on a link it doesn't get opened on a new tab, in fact, it doesn't get opened at all. Only the (useless) window size and position controls appear, as demonstrated on terminal in the following screen shot.
How do I get my tab-opening middle-clicks back?
i finally put up a Dual Boot with Ubuntu and Lion on my old MacBookPro 5.1
As reported in many cases the discrete graphics card is turned on all the time consuming a lot of power and thus heating up the laptop.
Since the discrete graphics card does not support the nvidia optimus technology, the corresponding packge nvidia-prime does not help in this case.
Therefore my question is, how to manually disable the discrete graphics card Nvdidia 9600GT ? Preferably a 'switch-on-the-run' version, but a 'set-on-boot' would be totally fine!

I just got a new laptop, HP dm4, and I'm having problems getting the audio to work properly on it.

I tried to edit /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf and added:
option snd-hda-intel model=ref
this caused the audio to work, but it's muffled. I'm wondering if anybody knows what would be the correct options to get this POS to work.
Thanks in advance
My laptop has capabilities of 802.11n connection.
with my previous router i could connect with more than 54Mb connection.
now i have D-Link router and for some reason the maximum connection speed is 54Mb, which implying that the connection has established with 802.11g.
how can i check which standard (g or n) has been established? is there any command that get that information? (nm-applet does not give any information about that at the connection information window).
I have many scripts which I call with khotkey. However -- in my other laptop -- khotkey wouldn't call the script -- but tries to open the command in firefox. I checked -- the scripts are executable, and are mine. What else could that be?
When I start the command from konsole -- it works as expected, but when I call it with khotkey -- it doesn't. I guess someone shadows my keybiding. But who could that be?

Can I have some help? I tried to install Ubuntu 12.04 on my laptop, that has some partitions:
2 ntfs (one of them is restricted by the system)
2 ext4s
1 Linux swap
But when I insert my CD, and run liveCD (as I am now), the installer can't see any of my partitions, it can see only /dev/sda as unallocated place, so does gparted (Fdisk seems ok).
On these partitions I have data, that I can use by windows on NTFS's. Here is some of this data:

I've found this issue in latest Ubuntu versions (13.04, 14.04) in all desktop environment. When I'm typing something in text field, randomly I get ~5..20 same symbols and everything speed up. It's happen few times per one minute and start from normal speed, slowly rising to super boost animation and other processes like CPU monitor, clock, window animation, etc. I think something wrong with system clock. Please help to figure out how to fix it.

I am very new to this forum and also linux. I have managed to install wubi on my laptop fine and I can get on the net with ethernet, But when I try to download and install the wifi drivers it keeps giving me what I think is a generic var/ log error and just starts to hang on install then says it will not install. I have had problems with this laptop Aspire 4530 for the last 3 days.
I erased the last Ubuntu (several times) and all is the same: Ubuntu starts, but in the screen there is not a menu (in the left side (using Gnome Desktop)) and I can not see any program, application, internet, graphic, games, nothing. I neither can see any folder.
This is killing me for hours.
Any idea in how can I get those menus back?
Thank in advance
Wubi installation has been going a success for me, but one problem is that I get freezes, My Mouse works I can move it round but I can't click or right click. Sometimes my keyboard works and so I can shutdown safely using commands, but other times the keyboard doesn't work.
One example of this is when I was running minecraft and youtube.
and to off the laptop the only way was to hard reboot.
Does anyone have a solution to this?

I wonder why when I am using Ubuntu, my laptop temperature increases. It's around 62 degrees or less. I am already using Jupiter and have set it to power saving mode but if I use maximum performance the temperature can reach 70 degrees or more. Its too hot if I compare it when I am running windows where the temperature is quite normal at 56 degrees.
How can I solve that?, sorry for my bad English.

If you want to take workstation-class CAD or imaging applications on the road, you need one of two things: a U-Haul, or HP's surprising 14-inch laptop PC, which combines Core i7 power and Quadro FX graphics in an under-six-pound package.

I have a problem with my Ubuntu 11.10 (up to date) running on laptop with the graphic card ATI Radeon x1200 with the (I think edgers driver since I updated it because of the lag I had) it shows some weird sketchy boxes over any text I open, It's confusing me and I don't know how to fix it.. Anyone can help?![enter image description here][1]
Here is a screenshot http://www.mediafire.com/i/?12011zaayo98t8l
I installed Ubuntu 12.10 and at first when I go to check the system information I used to have (unknown) on the graphic card section, I used the synaptic manager and downloaded the fglrx, after that I restarted my laptop and now I don't have any menus, all of them are gone.
Now I am only using the keyboard shortcuts to use Ubuntu. My graphic card is AMD ATI.
What can I do to bring the menus back?
