  • Untrusted GPGPU code (OpenCL etc) - is it safe? What risks?

    There are many approaches when it goes about running untrusted code on typical CPU : sandboxes, fake-roots, virtualization... What about untrusted code for GPGPU (OpenCL,cuda or already compiled one) ? Assuming that memory on graphics card is cleared before running such third-party untrusted code, are there any security risks? What kind of risks? Any way to prevent them ? (Possible sandboxing on gpgpu or other technique?) P.S. I am more interested in gpu binary code level security rather than hight-level gpgpu programming language security (But those solutions are welcome as well). What I mean is that references to gpu opcodes (a.k.a machine code) are welcome.

    Hi, We've got our navigation setup so that subsites show in the global navigation but we have a requirement to also put custom links to external sites which is straight forward. The tricky part is that some of the custom links need security trimming which you don't get when you add your own links to the navigation.   • how to automate the testing of a text based menu

    Hi there, I have a text based menu running on a remote Linux host. I am using expect to ssh into this host and would like to figure out how to interact with the menus. Interaction involves arrowing up, down and using the enter and back arrow keys. For example, Disconnect Data Collection > Utilities > Save Changes When you enter the system Disconnect is highlighted. So simply pressing enter twice you can disconnect from the system. Second enter confirms the disconnect. The following code will ssh into my system and bring up the menu. If I remove the expect eof and try to send "\r" thinking that this would select the Disconnect menu option I get the following error: "write() failed to write anything - will sleep(1) and retry..." #!/usr/bin/expect set env(TERM) vt100 set password abc123 set ipaddr 162.116.11.100 set timeout -1 match_max -d 100000 spawn ssh root@$ipaddr exp_internal 1 expect "*password:*" send -- "$password\r" expect "Last login: *\r" expect eof I have looked at the virterm and term_expect examples but cannot figure out how to tweak them to work for me. If someone can point me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it.   • Testing InlineFormset clean methods

    I have a Django project, with 2 models, a Structure and Bracket, the Bracket has a ForeignKey to a Structure (i.e. one-to-many, one Structure has many Brackets). I created a TabularInline for the admin site, so that there would be a table of Brackets on the Structure. I added a custom formset with some a custom clean method to do some extra validation, you can't have a Bracket that conflicts with another Bracket on the same Structure etc. The admin looks like this: class BracketInline(admin.TabularInline): model = Bracket formset = BracketInlineFormset class StructureAdmin(admin.ModelAdmin): inlines = [ BracketInline ] admin.site.register(Structure, StructureAdmin) That all works, and the validation works. However now I want to write some unittest to test my complex formset validation logic. My first attempt to validate known-good values is: data = {'form-TOTAL_FORMS': '1', 'form-INITIAL_FORMS': '0', 'form-MAX_NUM_FORMS': '', 'form-0-field1':'good-value', … } formset = BracketInlineFormset(data) self.assertTrue(formset.is_valid()) However that doesn't work and raises the exception: ====================================================================== ERROR: testValid (appname.tests.StructureTestCase) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Traceback (most recent call last): File "/paht/to/project/tests.py", line 494, in testValid formset = BracketInlineFormset(data) File "/path/to/django/forms/models.py", line 672, in __init__ self.instance = self.fk.rel.to() AttributeError: 'BracketInlineFormset' object has no attribute 'fk' ---------------------------------------------------------------------- The Django documentation (for formset validation) implies one can do this.   • Adding and Testing Compatibility of External Jar to Blackberry Project

    Hi, I am a newbie at Blackberry development. I have Eclipse 3.5.1 and Blackberry JRE 4.7.0. In my application, I added 2 external jars to my project and a properties file. I do not know for sure whether the jars I am trying to add and the webservices I am calling are compatible with Blackberry. I have to test that too. When I tried running my project, I get - "Project has verification Error". Is it because I did not add the external jars correctly? Or is it because the jars may not be compatible with Blackberry?

  • Linker Error: iPhone Unit Test Bundle referencing App classes

    Starting with an app already in development, I have carried out the instructions in the iPhone Development Guide – Unit Testing Applications I can successfully include and use my App's classes in Application-style tests that run on the device, and output their results to the console. If I add the following line of code: STAssertTrue([viewController isKindOfClass:[LoginViewController class]], @"Top view controller is not LoginViewController"); The following build error is generated: Undefined symbols: "_OBJC_CLASS_$_LoginViewController", referenced from: __objc_classrefs__DATA@0 in LoginViewTest.o ld: symbol(s) not found collect2: ld returned 1 exit status I can provide more configuration information for the project and the Testing target, but the setup works file without the [LoginViewController class] line in the test source. Without that line, I can reference the class, use it's properties and send it messages successfully. Is there a linking build setting, or bundle loading option that is required when attempting to use an App class in this fashion? Or should I find another type of test to confirm that the class of an object is the expected one?

  • Website redirect during maintenece but still with testing acces

    I have an online store that i have recently re-written most of and would like to upload it to my server. While the maintenance is taking place, i would like to redirect all visitors to an "under construction" page. (easily done with php or apache htacess etc...) The issue is that I would like to test everything when i upload it so i still need access while blocking everyone else. I was thinking some php page that is open to all with a cookie flag i could set for just myself? What is the best way to do this? Thanks jme

    Is there an easy way to setup an environment on one machine (or a VM) with MySQL replication? I would like to put together a proof of concept of MySQL replication with one Master write instance and two slave instances for reads. I can see doing it across 2 or 3 VMs running on my computer, but that would really bog down my system. I'd rather have everything running on the same VM. What's the best way to proof out scalability solutions like this in a local dev environment? Thanks for your help, Dave

    I'm implementing the Express Checkout? I have no problem with the first two steps:SetExpressCheckout and GetExpressCheckout,but met the "Security header is not valid" at DoExpressCheckout. The API credentials are the same! I've fixed it by changing the $environment to live in DoExpressCheckout.(The difference is that it'll use https://api.sandbox.paypal.com/nvp/ instead of https://api-3t.$environment.paypal.com/nvp) But why? Is there something wrong with https://api-3t.$environment.paypal.com/nvp?

  • bool as object vs string as object testing equality

    I am relatively new to C# and I noticed something interesting today that I guess I have never noticed or perhaps I am missing something. Here is an NUnit test to give an example: object boolean1 = false; object booloan2 = false; Assert.That(boolean1 == booloan2); This unit test fails, but this one passes: object string1 = "string"; object string2 = "string"; Assert.That(string1 == string2); I'm not that surprised in and of itself that the first one fails seeing as boolean1 and boolean2 are different references. But it is troubling to me that the first one fails and the second one passes. I read (on MSDN somewhere) that some magic was done to the String class to facilitate this. I think my question really is why wasn't this behavior replicated in bool? As a note... if the boolean1 and 2 are declared as "bool" then there is no problem. Does anyone know the reason for these differences or why it was implemented that way? Can anyone think of a situation where you would want to reference a bool object for anything except its value?

I added some automated unit test with a high test code coverage (95%), but the scope is only the static part. I got some code metrics as complexity and readability. I'm testing my code with a rule checker with MiSRA support, and of course fixed all warnings. I'm testing the code with a static analyzer and again fixed all warnings. What can I do now to test - and improve - the reliability of my OS ? How about the dynamic part ?

    To get any code with SoftReference<T> to be fully tested, one must come up with some way to test the 'yup, it's been nulled' case. One might more or less mock this by using a 'for-test' code path to force the reference to be null, but that won't manage the queue exactly as the GC does. I wonder if anyone out can share experience in setting up a repeatable, controlled, environment, in which the GC is, in fact, provoked into collecting and nulling?

  • Java: How to test methods that call System.exit()?

    I've got a few methods that should call System.exit() on certain inputs. Unfortunately, testing these cases causes JUnit to terminate! Putting the method calls in a new Thread doesn't seem to help, since System.exit() terminates the JVM, not just the current thread. Are there any common patterns for dealing with this? For example, can I subsitute a stub for System.exit()? [EDIT] The class in question is actually a command-line tool which I'm attempting to test inside JUnit. Maybe JUnit is simply not the right tool for the job? Suggestions for complementary regression testing tools are welcome (preferably something that integrates well with JUnit and EclEmma).

When researching further (particularly on SO), general advice is that setting <compilation debug="true"> in web.config has a much bigger impact. Has anyone done any testing to get some actual numbers about this?   • Testing form submission with Cucumber

    I wrote a simple Cuke feature for a form on a demo site. The feature looks like this. Given I am on the home page When I set the "Start Date" to "2010-10-25" And I set the "End Date" to "2011-1-3" And I press the "Go" button Then I should see "Cake Shop" The idea is that after I press the Go button, a new page will load, showing a list of results, and one of the results should be "Cake Shop." But I have not managed to get this to work. Is there something that I am missing? Edit: here is the step definitions.
