    When you're prompted to login to a site using HTTP authentication (the kind with the pop-up box requesting username/password), Firefox's password manager populates it with only the first stored password for that domain. Is there a way to have Firefox prompt for WHICH account should be used? It is unlike the normal HTML login forms in which you can just press the down arrow to select from multiple login accounts.

The developer is having problems recreating the issue using the version that is stored in our source control system, so he suspects that some code may have been released that was not uploaded to source control. Is there a way to extract a SQLCLR assembly into a .dll file so that he can reverse engineer it for analysis?

  • Extract files in rar archive without having some previous files.

    I have a big rar archive which is split into 700mb parts. I only have part 5 and 6 and there is a 40mb file in there that I wanna extract using Winrar. I know the whole file is stored in part 5 because when I open part 5, that file gets listed (and many other files). But I can't extract any of them, cause it asks for previous archive parts which I'm sure it really doesn't need. Is there a way to do that?

    My cable TV company gives me a Cisco Explorer 8640HDC DVR box that can record shows from TV. I know that it contains a hard drive to save the shows on. What format and file system are used to store the videos on the hard drive? I have looked at the documentation for this DVR box and there is no technical information about the manner in which recordings are stored. Is it possible to connect the hard drive to a computer and extract the recordings from it?

After reconnecting it to my computer and starting iTunes I noticed that the individual songs stored on the external drive are now lost (they have a little exclamation mark next to them). iTunes offers me to locate the songs one by one, but I have thousands of songs.     I have a lot of files on machine running Windows Server 2008 which I wanted to move to a Fedora machine. How can I keep the attributes stored in, for example, media files (date taken, rating, length, etc) while transfering it to outside the realm of NTFS's Alternate Data Streams. I'm aware that similar metadata exists in other file systems, but what happens when you move these files? And what's the best way to retain them in other file systems?

How can I find The default/current location of the MySQL binary files (often stored in a directory named data?) Any default or custom loaded cnf files?     Windows 8.1 is out and I would like to know if it is possible to share the Windows 8.1 download upgrade between different computers so that I don't have to download it over and over again? This might be helpful for people who are on a metered connection. Store is downloading 3.42GB of data so it must be stored somewhere. Is there any way I can copy it to my other computers and start the setup so that I don't have to download it over and over again on each computer I own?

    I'm a literature student and I'd like to be able to annotate literary texts (originally stored in HTML or as text files) on a word-by-word or line-by-line basis. I hear databases like mySQL or SQLite would be good ways to do this sort of thing, but I don't really know where to start. I'm comfortable with the linux command-line, and have done some HTML/CSS work in the past, so I feel unintimidated by databases and things...I just don't know what to start doing.

    Most compression programs compress all files by default. But when archiving a folder containing already compressed files, there is no need to compress them a second time, such as archives, packed setup program, jpg, movies, mp3,.... Are there any compression programs that allow an arbitrary list of type of files to be stored while the others are still compressed ? It looks like Winrar can't.     I am trying to watch some videos stored on my desktop computer on the Xbox, but they are in a format that the Xbox cannot decode, so I have to stream them through Windows Media Center. However, as soon as I set up Media Center on the Xbox, anyone can go in and browse the directory structure on my desktop. I would like to "lock" the media library so that only I can add and delete folders from my desktop computer. Is it possible?

  • How can I prevent Virtualmin from storing passwords in cleartext?

    I am really surprised at this behavior. In Virtualmin, I can see the password for any SSH user by clicking the "(Show..)" link next to the "Password ( ) Leave unchanged" option in a variety of locations. I have found that the passwords for all users including users with SSH access are stored in cleartext files in /etc/webmin/... This seems like an unnecessary risk! How can I prevent Virtualmin from storing passwords in this manner?

    Hi guys, I'm trying to install some CMS software (Wiccle). I was using XAMPP's MySQL but was getting a lot of errors (the same configuration works on another machine) so thought I'd install MySQL Community Edition to see if the proplem was related to the MySQL server. When I install and run the MySQL Community Edition service, however, it only works with my XAMPP password, and contains the same tables as the XAMPP install. Is there a common local database file where the database and login info is stored? Any help appreciated

    I'll have to deploy virtual machines on demo laptops, which will use Vmware player, but I've got some security concerns, as some data stored in the virtual machines are a bit sensitive. Is there a way to prevent the copy of these virtual machines ? Are the virtual hard drives encrypted, and if not is there a way to encrypt them ? In short, is there a way to lock down everything so that nobody could copy and or use these VMs in another computer ?

    i'm making a server migration from a cpanel centos 5 box to a plain centos box. i already migrated, files, ssl, user system permissions and installed the basic service: as proftpd, apache, dovecot, exim, dns etc.. now what i can't find is where are the email accounts and the ftp account (that ones of [email protected]) in terms of email i want to migrate the accounts AND the emails stored in the server at the moment.
