  • Learning C bit manipulation

For ex: on one of my previous questions one answered ((a)-(b))&0x80000000) 31 - this is kind of a too advanced for me and i can't really get what it means.   • COM IUnknown and do I need a pointer to it first before calling CoGetClassObject?

    In COM, when you want to create an instance of some COM Server object, do you first need to get a pointer to it's IUnknown interface and only then create a class object using CoGetClassObject? As far as I understand it, IUnknown is used to manage object lifetimes, so from my understanding, whatever object the client wants to create, one needs a pointer to it's IUnknown interface implementation first. Sound correct? If not, can anyone tell me how it works?

    Normally when I have a private field inside a class or a struct, I use camelCasing, so it would be obvious that it's indeed private when you see the name of it, but in some of my colleagues' C# code, I see that they use m_ mostly or sometimes _, like there is some sort of convention. Aren't .NET naming conventions prevent you from using underscores for member names? And when you mention the MS naming conventions or what not, they tell you it's the best way, but don't explain the reasoning behind it.

  • Has song finished playing? (C# MCI)

    Hi all I have an mp3 player that sends MCI commands to play pause/ff/rw/stop the audio files etc and the only thing i can't figure out how to do is send an MCI command to tell it to play the next song when the current one's finished playing. The songs are in a ListBox. I have no problems actually selecting the next song, I just need to find out when to play the next song on the playlist. I'd appreciate any help at all Thank you :)

    I have read about NSPasteBoard in the Apple documentation, and how it allows for applications to write into the PasteBoard and allow other applications to read that text and use it. Could someone tell me how to paste text from am application (that sits in the status bar) into a NSTextField that is inside a different application. But, when I create a new Windows Forms application using my sample compiler, the MSDOS window also appears, and if I close the DOS window, my WinForms app closes too. I would like to put some sys.puts calls in there, but I cannot locate the node.js that is being run by my server. Is there a way to tell where node.js is located?   • Can you determine hasLayout in IE8's developer toolbar?

    There was a lot of talk that IE8 was supposed to fix/remove hasLayout. Doesn't seem to have happened, though it's not usually an issue. The problem is that when it does crop up there doesn't seem to be a way for IE8's developer toolbar to tell you hasLayout is being applied, as it used to do in IE7's developer toolbar. Does anyone have a workaround? Am I missing something obvious?

    Hello, I'm using simpleModal to display a dialog, and I want to be able to tell if it has been displayed or not using jstestdriver. In my browser when I display the dialog it sets the className to "simplemodal-data" on the id of the content I'm displaying, but when I do the same thing in jstestdriver it's like the .modal() function doesn't even do anything.     Hi Friends My requirement is pretty interesting, I want to maintain one cookie between two different browser for same domain. so lets say I have create one cookie with name "mydata" and value "hiscal" from IE, then if i browse same website from firefox and trying to read cookie "mydata" then system should give me value "hiscal" but this is not happen in general case so can any one tell me how i can share cookie between to different browser(client) of same domain.     In Apple's iPhone apps (like Contacts), they have a nice magnifying glass icon at the top of the table view index. Since the table view index API is character-based, I assume that this magnifying glass is a Unicode character. So far I've resorted to placing a question mark character there, but that looks lame.
