• How to Upgrade PHP 5.2 to 5.3 on Windows Plesk Panel 8.2

  I need to upgrade my server PHP version becasue of Wordpress New version not support PHP 5.2. On My server windows 2003 stansard edition x64 with SP1 installed, IIS 6.0, MySQL 4.1, Plesk Panel 8.2. I have follow listed steps on plesk KB. http://kb.parallels.com/6670 How to update PHP 5 on a Windows server with Parallels Plesk Control Panel 8.x and 9.x installed. In order to upgrade PHP 5 to the necessary version (other than shipped with Parallels Plesk), please perform the following steps: Stop Plesk services (‘Control Panel’ and all that are included in the ‘Plesk Run-Time’ section) Rename folder %plesk_dir%\Additional\PleskPHP5 to the orig_PleskPHP5 Create a new folder %plesk_dir%\Additional\PleskPHP5 Download necessary version of PHP, unzip its content, and copy it to the newly created folder PleskPHP5 Copy the file php.ini from the old folder orig_PleskPHP5 to the new one Make sure the permissions are inherited Start Plesk services Click the "Refresh" button in the Components Management section in Parallels Plesk Panel and check if you can see the new PHP version there After follow steps when I open a PHP info it shows me specified module could not be found. • IIS7.5 - about app pool ID's and folder read/write access

  I did some searching and it looks like for each app pool, there should be an account created called IIS APPPOOL\AppPoolName - however i can see no such account when i try to modify the permissions on a folder to give that app write access. The closest I have found is the IIS_IUSRS group. Now, if i go into that group and look at the members, i see several IIS APPPOOL\PoolName members. But where are these members coming from? Why don't they show up under the users? And why can't i add a specific one to a folder? It doesn't make sense to me to add the IIS_IUSRS group to a folder since they gives every site access to the folder. To be more specific, I'm setting up wordpress and it unfortunately wants write access to the root folder. So i want to restrict it as much a possible. I was trying to figure out how to set it so that the WP root folder has write access only for the ID that the blog's app pool is running under. When i drill down into the IIS_IUSRS group, i do not see the app pool for the blog listed there. The settings for the blog's app pool are: No managed code, Classic, ApplicationPoolIdentity, and it's named 'blog' So any explanations regarding these users that are created for the app pools, and why the blog doesn't seem to belong to the iusrs group? thanks

• Servers/Websites Keep Going Down

  Okay, I'm a noobie. I know how to build and compose a website, but I have no idea what I'm doing when it comes to servers and server commands, etc. I've recently had a problem with all of my sites on our servers going down all at once and then I have to go in and reboot the server for them to come up again. At first this was annoying, but now it is becoming agonizing as it now takes 3-4 reboots for the websites to come back up. I contacted support for my hosting, but they are not being very helpful. They just keep telling me what the issue might be and basically telling me that I'm going to have to look into it and figure it out, which really isn't possible since I know nothing. Anyway, here are the things they said were possible reasons: They said I have "strange logs" in my Apache webserver log, error: sh: fetch: command not found. My php.ini memory limit is: 256M which is very high. It should be 32M or 64M. Server is reaching Max Clients, meaning we have more than 150 visitors at a time. (They supposedly "fixed" this, but the sites/server are still going down) I have some Wordpress sites with plugins getting errors like: PHP Warning: pack(): Type H: illegal hex digit G in... PHP Fatal error: Cannot use object of type stdClass as array in... PHP Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded in... PHP Fatal error: Call to undefined function file_exists() in... PHP Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '<' I know that's a lot, but I really am at wits end and have no idea what to do now. If anyone could maybe give me some advice or point me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks! Oh, and here are the specs for my server: RAM: 2048MB CPU Shares: 40 Primary Disk: 50GB Data Transfer: 75GB Port Speed: 5Mbps Type: Linux

• SSH attcack CentOS Amazon EC2

  Hi, I run a few Rightscale CentOS AMI based instances on Amazon EC2. Two months back I found that our SSHD security is compromised( I had added host.allow and host.deny for ssh). So I created new instances and done an IP based ssh that allows only our IPs through AWS Firewall(ec2-authorize) and chnaged the ssh 22 default port to some other port but two days back I found I was not able to login to the server and when I tried on 22 port the ssh got connected and I found that sshd_conf was changed and when I tried to edit sshd_config I found root had no write permission on the file. So I tried a chmod and it said access denied for 'root' user. This is very strange. I checked secure log and history and found nothing informative. I have PHP, Ruby On Rails, Java, Wordpress apps running on these server. This time I did a chkrootkit scan and found nothing. I renamed the /etc/ssh folder and reinstalled openssh through yum. I had faced this on 3 instances on CentOS(5.2, 5.4) I have instances on Debian as well those working fine. Is this a CentOS/Rightscale issue. Guys, what security measures I should take to prevent this. Please support me this is very critical. Thanks

• .php file blank - .php5 files works

  I have a problem with a server of mine. I've installed virtualmin/webin on it for administration and I have 1 domain on it. DNS management is external. On this domain I only have an html "Under Construction" index and 5 subdomains. In all those subdomains I have PHP systems running perfectly. I've tried to install Wordpress on the main domain and I'm having some issues: None .php files loads. I have made a phpinfo file on it to check it and it won't work either; only a blank page appears. When I check the source code of it in browser, appears the code. I have changed the extensions to .php5 and it worked perfectly. Something is going wrong with it but I can't figure out what. I have checked the apache error and nothing appears. 3 Days ago I upgraded from php 5.2.* to 5.4.21. Server is running CentOS 5.10.

  I am setting up server for hosting two WordPress which has size of around 70GB. I have already installed CentOS as OS and I would like to partition the Disk. Is there any tool which can help me or can someone guide me though the process as I am not expert is SSH commands. Here are some output that might help. • Mysqld shutting down by itself

  I'm running a Wordpress Blog that gets medium-high traffic. It is hosted in an Ubuntu Server 2GB Memory 2 Core Processor 40GB SSD Disk, 3TB Transfer. The problem is that MySQL shuts down by itself after an hour or two. I had to restart mysql each and every time this happens. • Glassfish and SSL [closed]

  I'm struggling to get SSL working on Glassfish 3.1.1. I've been following tutorials like http://javadude.wordpress.com/2010/04/06/getting-started-with-glassfish-v3-and-ssl/ and SO posts like this Issues with setting up SSL on Glassfish v3 The above links are for information only. I've summarised what I've done below. As far as I can tell I'm doing everything correctly but I'm getting this error: SSL configuration is invalid due to No available certificate or key corresponds to the SSL cipher suites which are enabled Some background of what I have done: My cert is from GoDaddy. I generated the CSR from a new keystore (keystore.jks), then imported the resulting certs back into the same keystore and set the keystore password to the same pwd as the GF master password. Then created a new SSL listener in GF and pointed it at my keystore file (which I copied into domains/domain1/config). Set the Nickname to the alias of my cert (which is something liem 'mydomain.org' i.e. the name that I get when I run keytool -list. In my ciphers section in the network listeners page, I leave the defaults in place (empty, which means all ciphers are available I think). In domain.xml I've replaced all instances of s1as to 'mydomain.org'. This is the question: What exactly is causing the error highlighted? I'm guessing it's a mismatch between my listener config and aliases in my keystore, or something similar, but I'm not really sure what. Thanks

• PHP Not Automatically Updating With ?reload=1

  A friend built a ranking system on his site and I am trying to host in on mine via wordpress and godaddy. It updates for him but when I load it to my site, it works for 6 hours, but as soon as the reload is supposed to occur, it errors and I get a 500 timeout error. Any idea why this might be happening? Any settings that I might need to change? Here is the top of the index.php file. I'm not sure which part of any of it is messing up.   Hi, What are the best free CMSs or CMS plugins or ERPs or any other free tools available for developing a hospital management system? I want to develop it for a children's hospital run by my father. The hospital is small with two doctors. Currently, everything is done manually on paper. The main entities who will be using the system are: Receptionist, the two doctors, chemist and the medical laboratorist. They will use it majorly for keeping the records of the patient. The patients would not be interacting with the system directly. The system needs to be user friendly and should be easy to learn. I was thinking to develop such a system using a CMS or an ERP or any other free tool. I have used wordpress/drupal in past but never used an ERP. Can you please guide me to make such a system using free, and preferably open source, tools? Update: I think it will be mostly a form driven system. • Asus X202e VivoBook, dual boot. How to get around UEFI and have Win8 & Ubuntu?

  I've gotten my hands on an Asus Vivobook X202e. I like it, handy to use, small, etc etc. Oh, it's the i3 core version. For school I still need Windows * sigh * for the .NET development. (I know, possible in Ubuntu, this n that, but for ease atm wanting to keep it with Win8). So. How to install both on this little thing? I've found a way into the BIOS (before splash screen, mash F2. Works only after reboot, not cold boot). But the whole boot loading setup is different than from what I know, and I must've messed up something because it's been "Attempting Repairs", "Analyzing hard disk", and a bunch of other things for the past 15 minutes. (All I've done is selected "disabled" on secure boot, picky as ** Microsoft). Keeping the original Windows installation is of no concern. Found the product key already and have a clean install waiting. BTW, not trying to leech knowledge, even though first question and no answers. I'm more and more active on Stackoverflow. But, especially due to secure boot and windows 8, I'm going over to Ubuntu. Well, more and more anyway, I like my Windows based games as well ;) UPDATE Managed to do a clean install of Windows 8 Pro. After disabling Secure Boot, also had to disable fast boot, and enable Launch CSM, leaving the option which appeared (Launch PXE OpROM) disabled. Then I rebooted, with the USB Boot drive I created using the Windows 7 USB DVD Download Tool (scroll down for download link), provided by Microsoft. During the installation, I chose to install a clean version, therefor deleted the partitions containing current windows files. I left the Recovery partition (you never know...). Of course, the new Windows Installation dit not like this. Apparantly Windows cannot be installed on a GPT hard disk. Remember I hadn't changed the partition table, was still factory default! Minus a few partitions, granted. So deleted ALL partittions, did a format of the disk, created a new partition. Et voila, Windows installation started. FINALLY! WONDROUS After the installation, Windows still had background images located in C:/Users/ ME /AppData/Local/Microsoft/Themes/RoamedThemeFiles/DesktopBackground/ that I had in the previous installation. Before doing: format, delete partition, cascade partitions, create new partition of different size, format partition, install Windows. It managed to keep the images through all that. Anyone got an idea on that one? It also remembered the settings for the Windows Aero theme... UPDATED QUESTION: After all this you'd think I'd have the rest figured out. Wrong. Ubuntu 12.10, 64 bit installation can't read the partitioning of the hdd during the installation. Any ideas on how to fix this so the install for a dual-boot system can proceed? (Preferably without starting anew with Windows as well ;) )

• Cron job checking for changes in Git repository

  We have just moved our server configs to a Git repository. Therefore there should not be any changes in any of the repository folders. I was thinking about how I could set up a cron job to check for any uncommited changes. How could a cron job be set up to check for changes in a Git repository? Greping the output of the git status command might just do it. Grep and cron jobs are not my strong side. Here are some sample outputs from git status: Standing the folder containing the git repository (e.g. /path/gitrepo/) with changed files: $ git status # On branch master # Changes not staged for commit: # (use "git add <file>..." to update what will be committed) # (use "git checkout -- <file>..." to discard changes in working directory) # # modified: apache2/sites-enabled/000-default # # Untracked files: # (use "git add <file>..." to include in what will be committed) # # apache2/conf.d/test no changes added to commit (use "git add" and/or "git commit -a") Standing in the folder when there is no changes: $ git status # On branch master nothing to commit (working directory clean) Update: Synced up with origin is not important. There should be no local changes. Local files that must be in place go into the .gitignore file. In addition to the server configs there are also git repos for content (static web sites, web apps, wordpress, etc). None of the repositories should have local changes. We might use Puppet in the long run since its being used for development of one of the web apps.

• MySQL has stopped accepting connections from other users than root

  Hi there. I'm running a mysql-server a long with apache and tomcat on a Gentoo box. To administer mysql I'm using phpMyAdmin. A couple of hours ago I received a call -- a user was unable to login to phpmyadmin. I logged on to phpmyadmin with the root user, and reset the password. The user was still not able to login. I then decided to give it a go myself, and even I wasn't able to login. I tried creating several user accounts, none of them were able to access mysql via jdbc/mysql-client/phpmyadmin. The only user that seems to work is root. What's even more strange is that websites that connect to mysql with a user other than root are still able to login and retrieve content from the database (it's mainly wordpress and a tomcat webapp). I have made sure it's not just cached, I was able to post SQL queries to the database via these web apps still. However, I am unable to login to phpmyadmin/mysql-client with this user and I am also unable to set up a connection with this user for any new web-applications. Any help is immensely appreciated.

  I am working with the following block of code ... The datagrid is setup with 2 columns. A textbox column for the "Name" which is bound to "Name" An image column which is bound to the "ImageID" field When I execute the code I receive the following error on the DataBind() Could not determine a MetaTable. A MetaTable could not be determined for the data source '' and one could not be inferred from the request URL. Make sure that the table is mapped to the dats source, or that the data source is configured with a valid context type and table name, or that the request is part of a registered DynamicDataRoute. I'm not using any dynamicdataroutes as far as I can tell. Has anyone experienced this error before?

  I would like to dynamically create a set of context menu options based upon some properties. Currently, I am creating a context menu as a DynamicResource with the visibility of the menu options bound to the properties, however, it seems that the DynamicResource is created only once, at runtime. Is this true? What I would like to do is have the menu generated each time, which will take into account the property changes on the data object. • Split WPF Style XAML Files

  Most WPF styles I have seen are split up into one very long Theme.xaml file. • Problems compiling peazip on OSX

  I'm having some problems with compiling Peazip on OSX (10.6). I emailed the Peazip developer and he said he probably couldn't help me too much as the error seems to be OSX specific and he doesn't have access to an OSX machine any more. The compiler I'm using is Lazarus as the source is in Pascal. The actual compile process seems to go ok, but when I run the peazip.app program launcher, I get the following error: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v215/thegooddale/Screen-shot-2010-05-22-at-71907-PM.png Here is the app launcher that the compile made: http://forboden.com/coding/peazip.app.zip - you can use an unzip program to look at the files inside (i.e. unzip it twice). • Fancybox "close" hangs/delays in IE7/8

  I'm having an issue with IE7/8 only on a development site: when closing the Fancybox, there is a major delay, sometimes about ten seconds or so, sometimes much longer (like a minute). Some things that might be relevant: • Using fancybox 1.3.1 • Works perfectly on all other browsers (FF, Safari, Opera, Chrome) • The loaded iframe contains a flash "virtual tour" • There are no errors reported in IE's Dev Toolbar or in DebugBar • The fancybox renders perfectly in IE, and after it has closed, there is not a problem loading it again. The closing seems to be the only issue. (That, and that it crashed the client's browser once, but I'm inclined to believe that had more to do with the content of the iframe than fancybox). I changed the link to the iFrame to something simpler (google), and it closed with no problem. So it does seem to have something to do with a conflict with the content of the iframe.
