• Visual Studio 2010 Compiling C code

  I have the following code snippet. This is a c file in visual studio 2010. If i try to compile this with the line: int hello = 10; commented out it will compile just fine. If I comment that line in it will not compile. Am I missing something or should I not be using Visual Studio 2010 to compile C code. If this is a Visual Studio problem can anyone recommend a easy to use IDE / Compiler that I can for C.   I'm a person that learns best from example. Currently, I'm diving into the field of Web Development after fifteen years of developing desktop apps. I'm still getting used to all the web technologies used for developing modern web sites and everywhere I look, I see cool little UI elements and question how they're implemented. So I thought I'd ask you, the web experts...the wexperts :) What are some straight forward or creative ways you could code this grid-breaking arrow... The basic layout for this page looks like... What would the html/css code look like? Would you split the image into multiple images or could you use a single image? I'm sure this is a really simple concept and it completely boggles me.   I found a public repo on GitHub that I would like to play around with. I can see myself potentially spending a lot of time writing tests for it and expanding its functionality. The code is also being sold as an app. I have no problem with this because I admire the owner's practice of sharing his source and also providing the convenience of paying for the app for users who don't want to mess with compiling it. If I was to spend time with this code as a separate fork what would prevent the owner from merging it with his master branch? Is it ethical for him to still profit off of my added functionality? Should a line be drawn somewhere?

  I am in the process of studying for a test, and I'm trying to work through some practice problems. I've been working on this a while now..but can't figure it out. Please take a look at the code fragment: union { int i; short x; unsigned short u; float f; } testout; testout.i=0xC0208000; Before I ask the question, can someone please explain to me how the above code works?? My guess is that testout.i=0xC0208000 puts either an int, short, unsigned short, or float and puts the result in that address. (?) The question is what prints out if we write printf("%d", testout.x)? I know we should expect digits....but I have no idea where they are getting the digits from....there is no output. Any explanation would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

  Hi, I'm maintaining a vb6 project(ActiveX DLL). When debugging, the app run into the following function: Public Function HasValue(ByVal vValue) As Boolean On Error GoTo Err If IsMissing(vValue) Then HasValue = False ElseIf IsNull(vValue) Or Len(vValue) = 0 Then HasValue = False ElseIf isEmpty(vValue) Then HasValue = False Else HasValue = True End If Exit Function Err: If IsArray(vValue) Or IsObject(vValue) Then HasValue = True Else HasValue = False End If End Function and it stops at the line ElseIf IsNull(vValue) Or Len(vValue) = 0 Then vValue is a custom object, contains some properties(obviously, not null). Although I didn't put any break point there, the app stopped there and alerted error dialog saying that "Run-time error '438': Object doesn't support this property or method". We had error handling code but the app didn't run to error handling code. It just stopped at the line causing the error and I had to stop the application. Do you have any idea about that? • How do I disable Hot Code Replace in Eclipse

  HCR is failing alot more often than not for me at the moment. It keeps popping up the "Hot Code Replace Failed" dialog, over and over and over. I know there is a checkbox to shut it up, but later on when I'm doing something else I actually want the dialog to appear. Plus I don't want hot swapping code right now anyways, I just want the debugger. So is there a setting someplace for that "do not show dialog again" checkbox, for when I want to re-enable it? Better yet, is there a way to turn HCR on and off period? BTW, as far as I can tell disabling "Build Automatically" doesn't disable it.

  Hi, I have something like below which will get repeated many times based on the function that get called for e.g acceptfunction() { inserter["quantity"] = sdd.getfloat(quantity); inserter["prodtype"] = sdd.getstring(prodtype); : : so on } Like accept above there are 20 more functions(reject,cancel etc) which will do the similar thing.But the parameteres they insert can differ based on function called. How can I automate this kind of code.So that I dont need to write new function from scratch.Basically what I need is if i provide parametres like ("quantity",prodtype) through some text file or xml, it should generate the required function with the input parametres. Is this task can be handled through C++ tempalte Meta programming or someother code generation tool will help me to do this?

  Hey folks, ok so this is my problem, I need to display HTML code in a jsp, which wouldn't be a problem, except a requirement for this project is that we place all the code in a public class file and have seperate methods for each chunk(header, sidebar footer, etc). Now here's where i'm confused: "Your method should take the PrintWriter as a parameter to print out each line of HTML, and should have a return type of void" What does that mean?   Hi, I'm trying to code a counter in Ninjatrader which uses C# as its programming language. I would like this counter to commence counting upon the completion of the first counter and once it commences counting to consider only the new condition when counting. So, the first counter commences when Close[0] < Close[4]. The second counter commences ONLY after the first counter has reached 9 and its condition for counting is Close[0] <= Low[2]. I don't know how to write the part of the code where the second counter commences counting and its counts are independent of the first counter reaching 9.
