  • SQL Server 2008 R2 Enterprise won't install on Windows 2008 R2 Enterprise

    I've been trying to install SQL Server on a new Windows Server 2008. I have tried everything but I haven't been able to narrow down the problem. When the installation fails I get " Exit code (Decimal): -2068643839". The problem with this is that according to Microsoft this is a generic error code. I follow their guide to look into the detail.txt inside C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\100\Setup Bootstrap\Log\ But I can't find something that specifies the exact error. Any suggestions ?   • Running two wsgi applications on the same server gdal org exception with apache2/modwsgi

    I'm trying to run two wsgi applications, one django and the other tilestache using the same server. The tilestache server accesses the db via django to query the db. In the process of serving tiles it performs a transform on the incoming bbox, and in this process hit's the following error.   • Error installing pkgconfig via macports

    I installed Macports 1.8.2 from a DMG. That seemed to install fine. I ran sudo port selfupdate to make sure my ports tree was current. I then tried to install bindfs as I want to mount some directories in my OS X file system (like you can do with mount --bind in linux). pkgconfig and macfuse are two dependencies of bindfs.   • Excel export displaying '#####...'

    I'm trying to export an Excel database into .txt (Tab Delimited), but some of my cells are quite large. When I export into a txt some of the cells are exported as '#######....' which is surprisingly useless. Has this happened to anyone else? Do you know an easy fix?   • Play .ts video file on Android?

    I am pretty new at streaming video, so please bear with me. :) I am trying to port an m3u8 stream over from iPhone to Android. Looking in the m3u8 feed, I found some .ts files. From what I can tell, .ts files are, themselves, wrappers that contain the video stream (Elementary Stream). Is it possible to play a .ts file in Android? (The docs only list 3gp and mp4 as supported formats.) Is there a way to extract the Elementary Stream and just process the video feed? If that is in 3gp or mp4, I should be ok. Will Stagefright handle .ts? Is Stagefright even available? I read that there are/were some problems with it. (As a further caveat, I am not getting much help from my server guys. They are pushing for a Flash player solution, including a proprietary player. They will not provide me with a 3gp or an mp4 feed, but I'm hoping I can find that in the .ts file.) I'm open to other suggestions. Thanks for your patience with this newbie. :)

  • finding ALL cycles in a huge sparse matrix

    Hi there, First of all I'm quite a Java beginner, so I'm not sure if this is even possible! Basically I have a huge (3+million) data source of relational data (i.e. A is friends with B+C+D, B is friends with D+G+Z (but not A - i.e. unmutual) etc.) and I want to find every cycle within this (not necessarily connected) directed graph. I've found this thread (http://stackoverflow.com/questions/546655/finding-all-cycles-in-graph/549402#549402) which has pointed me to Donald Johnson's (elementary) cycle-finding algorithm which, superficially at least, looks like it'll do what I'm after (I'm going to try when I'm back at work on Tuesday - thought it wouldn't hurt to ask in the meanwhile!). I had a quick scan through the code of the Java implementation of Johnson's algorithm (in that thread) and it looks like a matrix of relations is the first step, so I guess my questions are: a) Is Java capable of handling a 3+million*3+million matrix? (was planning on representing A-friends-with-B by a binary sparse matrix) b) Do I need to find every connected subgraph as my first problem, or will cycle-finding algorithms handle disjoint data? c) Is this actually an appropriate solution for the problem? My understanding of "elementary" cycles is that in the graph below, rather than picking out A-B-C-D-E-F it'll pick out A-B-F, B-C-D etc. but that's not the end of the world given the task. E / \ D---F / \ / \ C---B---A d) If necessary, I can simplify the problem by enforcing mutuality in relations - i.e. A-friends-with-B <== B-friends-with-A, and if really necessary I can maybe cut down the data size, but realistically it is always going to be around the 1mil mark. z) Is this a P or NP task?!   • Compiling Quake 3 in Snow Leopard

    First of all I have Xcode 4 installed in Mac OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.8. I have downloaded the Quake 3 source code 1.32b release but I can't open the Xcode project that is inside the /macosx folder since it is in the old .pbproj format and therefore it throws an "incompatible version" error. Has anyone been able to convert this to a Xcode format or is there any other way to compile the source code in Mac OS X Snow Leopard? Thanks

    Long ago, the prerequisite UNIX performance book was Adrian Cockcroft's 1994 classic, Sun Performance and Tuning: Sparc & Solaris, later updated in 1998 as Java and the Internet. As Solaris evolved to include the invaluable DTrace observability features, new essential performance references have been published, such as Solaris Performance and Tools: DTrace and MDB Techniques for Solaris 10 and OpenSolaris (2006)  by McDougal, Mauro, and Gregg, and DTrace: Dynamic Tracing in Oracle Solaris, Mac OS X and FreeBSD (2011), also by Mauro and Gregg. Much has occurred in Solaris Land since those books appeared, notably Oracle's acquisition of Sun Microsystems in 2010 and the demise of the OpenSolaris community. But operating system technologies have continued to improve markedly in recent years, driven by stunning advances in multicore processor architecture, virtualization, and the massive scalability requirements of cloud computing. A new performance reference was needed, and I eagerly waited for something that thoroughly covered modern, distributed computing performance issues from the ground up. Well, there's a new classic now, authored yet again by Brendan Gregg, former Solaris kernel engineer at Sun and now Lead Performance Engineer at Joyent.     Is Linux/Unix based OS adoption for development (or recreation) a rough measure of the awareness, adaptability and/or skill of a developer, after considering factors like learning curve for effective code testing via the CLI, basic scripting, tweaking, etc. I have no intention of starting flame wars between Windows and Linux as better dev environments, and personal choice of OSes for dev, but what i do wish to know is that - will the level of adaptability of a person who uses a Unix based system be defined by the fact that he programs on a Unix based OS?

    Hello, Is Ubuntu the best OS for an uber lightweight quick to boot setup for a laptop / netbook? I have a laptop and I'm just looking for the best OS for watching movies / tv shows while traveling. I'm using windows 7 right now so ideally I'd like a barebones fast linux dual booted that uses less battery etc while traveling. I'm not looking for miracles in battery savings but it would be great if I could squeeze an extra 20 minutes out of it. Any suggestions?

What do I do next? What is causing this problem? Tried several online links for installing windows OS on Ubuntu using Virtual Box and also for installing virtual box. The virtual box is installed correctly as per my thinking.

  • Purple/Pink lines on screen after login on Ubuntu Desktop 13.04

    I downloaded Ubuntu 13.04 and I loaded up the live system. It loaded up fine but when I clicked on the Ubuntu logo purple and pink lines appeared on screen and they didn't go away so I thought that if I installed the OS it would be fine so I installed the OS, logged in and lo and behold the purple and pink lines where back. My video card is nVidia N force (I think) Anyone having the same problem???
