• Wifi worked after reinstalling the driver, but why did it stopped working in the first place?

  I was having an issue with connecting to my wifi router since yesterday; could see the router in the wireless networks available but the router was not authenticating my password. I tried unblocking the hardware switches though non was blocked. Finally on discussing with the ISP i gave a re-installation of the wireless driver a try; and to my surprise that worked.(I was assuming faulty wifi router). So as per the subject of the question; I am very curious to know what actually happened that prevented me to connect to my wifi. Any logs that I could see to confirm the cause of this suspicious activity.

• Why can't I view a specific websites?

  I am a netwrok administrator at a small company (22 PC) and i have a problem, and i don't know which could be the cause. I can't access a specific website from the LAN. I have a server which has 2 NICs(one to ISP and one to LAN). I have installed on the server (Bind DNS server and DHCP server) Debian 6 Server. I want to mention that "nslookup mcel.co.mz", and "dig my_site" is not working perfectly, I can't access the site from inside the LAN. I can't send emails to person that are located in that domain. When I dig mcel.co.mz @8.8.8.8 the domain is resolved. Why can't I view a specific websites? www.mcel.co.mz Why can't send email to person that are on some domains? @mcel.co.mz I don't have any rule configured in Debian Server which wouldn't let me acces the site. • Segment subdomains with Google Analytics?

  So, when a website has multiple subdomains: www.example.com foo.example.com bar.example.com What is the best way to use Google Analytics to segment the data? I would prefer have access to 'All Data', 'Data from foo.example.com', and 'Data from bar.example.com'. I tried setting up 3 different views, and setting a filter on the foo/bar views that says: Include only traffic from the ISP domain that are equal to foo.example.com. However, I am not seeing any data collected into that View. I do, however, see all data in the 'All Data' view, but I can't figure out how to segment the data. I am including the analytics.js in the application.haml layout, which is always loaded in this app. Thanks!

• possible to use an IP derived from Dynamic DNS in htaccess IP allow/deny commands?

  On a website I manage, I want to use an .htaccess file to allow access to a certain administrative directory only from my home IP address, which is dynamically assigned by my ISP and therefore changes -- not regularly, but it does happen. I also have an account from DynDNS and have one of the auto-update clients making sure it always points to my actual home IP address. I don't actually host anything at home; I just have set up the Dynamic DNS account. Is there any way to combine these features: that is, is it possible write the .htaccess allow/deny commands at my outside webhost in a way that my home IP address is not hard coded into the command, but instead is somehow derived from the Domain Name that the DynDNS has assigned me, by doing a real-time lookup every time the directory's .htaccess file is hit? • I can't login to facebook from any browser

  I'm Using UBUNTU 12.04. I'm having problems with Facebook. It really hard to login. Takes like 3 or 5 min. At first I thought it was a flash problem but then I realized it could be some proxy's conf file. Other sites doesn't have problems. Yesterday I tried Tor-browser-bundle and I installed privoxy using this rules http://www.neilvandyke.org/privoxy-rules/ . Today I removed privoxy and the conf file with the Ubuntu software center and ubuntu-tweak. I don't really find the problem and my windows pc does not have any problem with the same modem. I don't have an ISP'S PROXY it just a direct Internet connection using automatic DHCP. Maybe I am missing something else. But I want to be sure so, I'm asking. PD: Sorry for my English I'm Argentinian.

• Cannot access my own web page

  I am developing, learning and experimenting with php,html,javascript,flash and so on. Having web hosting and all of the cpanel, phpmyadmin and other utilities. One day, while updating information, connection between my computer and website just went down. I found out that it is only from this computer, where I cannot access anything. I don't know what is the reason I cannot access website, however this is what I have checked so far: Everything else opens normally, having problem only with my page. Cannot access FTP,cpanel or any kind of information related to the domain and hosting ipconfigs detects IP, but shows request timed out (so its not browser related) Turned off Firewall,AV, Rebooted computer Cleared caches,temp,cookies,histry with CCleaner Checked connectivity with both (wired,wireless) networks ISP has dynamic IP that has been changed about 3 times since issue Checked host file I am out of ideas and understanding what could cause this kind of issue, however couple minutes ago, found out that everything works with proxy server (when adding IP and port to the browsers) Can someone point out what should I check or try to get rid of this problem?

• Is it possible to configure Ubuntu as a software firewall?

  I have some systems running on Ubuntu in the private IP range 192.168.2.0-255 . These systems are connected to a switch and the switch is connected to the ISP's modem. Neither the switch nor the modem support firewall options. I don't have any firewall device and I'm not willing to individually configure firewalls on all the systems (via gui/iptables). Is it possible to make an Ubuntu system into something like a software firewall, so that all the traffic/packets sent to or from the WAN(internet) would be allowed/denied based on its firewall rules?

• How to fix Ogre3d segfault with std::_Rb_tree_insert_and_rebalance ?

  Hello all. I'm working on a 3d music visualizer using Ogre3d, basically it's a spectrum analizer, a lot like the old xmms plugin: (http)://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_6NKBiwYN24 It works well, the bars are drawn and updated, there are no framerate issues, but it crashes randomly. Sometimes it can run without problems, finish the song, other times it crashes instantly, other times the music just stops, without a crash. Would limiting the framerate help ? The crashes are seemingly random. Is it a performance issue ? • jQuery and Windows Azure

  The goal of this blog entry is to describe how you can host a simple Ajax application created with jQuery in the Windows Azure cloud. In this blog entry, I make no assumptions. I assume that you have never used Windows Azure and I am going to walk through the steps required to host the application in the cloud in agonizing detail. Our application will consist of a single HTML page and a single service. The HTML page will contain jQuery code that invokes the service to retrieve and display set of records. There are five steps that you must complete to host the jQuery application: Sign up for Windows Azure Create a Hosted Service Install the Windows Azure Tools for Visual Studio Create a Windows Azure Cloud Service Deploy the Cloud Service Sign Up for Windows Azure Go to http://www.microsoft.com/windowsazure/ and click the Sign up Now button. Select one of the offers. I selected the Introductory Special offer because it is free and I just wanted to experiment with Windows Azure for the purposes of this blog entry.     To sign up, you will need a Windows Live ID and you will need to enter a credit card number. After you finish the sign up process, you will receive an email that explains how to activate your account. Accessing the Developer Portal After you create your account and your account is activated, you can access the Windows Azure developer portal by visiting the following URL: http://windows.azure.com/ When you first visit the developer portal, you will see the one project that you created when you set up your Windows Azure account (In a fit of creativity, I named my project StephenWalther).     Creating a New Windows Azure Hosted Service Before you can host an application in the cloud, you must first add a hosted service to your project. Click your project on the summary page and click the New Service link. You are presented with the option of creating either a new Storage Account or a new Hosted Services.     Because we have code that we want to run in the cloud – the WCF Service -- we want to select the Hosted Services option. After you select this option, you must provide a name and description for your service. This information is used on the developer portal so you can distinguish your services.     When you create a new hosted service, you must enter a unique name for your service (I selected jQueryApp) and you must select a region for this service (I selected Anywhere US). Click the Create button to create the new hosted service.   Install the Windows Azure Tools for Visual Studio We’ll use Visual Studio to create our jQuery project. Before you can use Visual Studio with Windows Azure, you must first install the Windows Azure Tools for Visual Studio. Go to http://www.microsoft.com/windowsazure/ and click the Get Tools and SDK button. The Windows Azure Tools for Visual Studio works with both Visual Studio 2008 and Visual Studio 2010.   Installation of the Windows Azure Tools for Visual Studio is painless. You just need to check some agreement checkboxes and click the Next button a few times and installation will begin:   Creating a Windows Azure Application After you install the Windows Azure Tools for Visual Studio, you can choose to create a Windows Azure Cloud Service by selecting the menu option File, New Project and selecting the Windows Azure Cloud Service project template. I named my new Cloud Service with the name jQueryApp.     Next, you need to select the type of Cloud Service project that you want to create from the New Cloud Service Project dialog.   I selected the C# ASP.NET Web Role option. Alternatively, I could have picked the ASP.NET MVC 2 Web Role option if I wanted to use jQuery with ASP.NET MVC or even the CGI Web Role option if I wanted to use jQuery with PHP. After you complete these steps, you end up with two projects in your Visual Studio solution. The project named WebRole1 represents your ASP.NET application and we will use this project to create our jQuery application. Creating the jQuery Application in the Cloud We are now ready to create the jQuery application. We’ll create a super simple application that displays a list of records retrieved from a WCF service (hosted in the cloud). The application is a little too simple because the data is static. In this section, we’ll modify the page so that the data is retrieved from a WCF service instead of an array. First, we need to add a new Ajax-enabled WCF Service to the WebRole1 project. Select the menu option Project, Add New Item and select the Ajax-enabled WCF Service project item. Name the new service ProductService.svc. Modify the service so that it returns a static collection of products. Right-click your jQueryApp project in the Solution Explorer window and select the Publish menu option. When you select publish, your application and your application configuration information is packaged up into two files named jQueryApp.cspkg and ServiceConfiguration.cscfg. Visual Studio opens the directory that contains the two files. In order to deploy these files to the Windows Azure cloud, you must upload these files yourself. Return to the Windows Azure Developers Portal at the following address: http://windows.azure.com/ Select your project and select the jQueryApp service. You will see a mysterious cube. Click the Deploy button to upload your application.   Next, you need to browse to the location on your hard drive where the jQueryApp project was published and select both the packaged application and the packaged application configuration file. Supply the deployment with a name and click the Deploy button.     While your application is in the process of being deployed, you can view a progress bar.     Running the jQuery Application in the Cloud Finally, you can run your jQuery application in the cloud by clicking the Run button.   It might take several minutes for your application to initialize (go grab a coffee). After WebRole1 finishes initializing, you can navigate to the following URL to view your live jQuery application in the cloud: http://jqueryapp.cloudapp.net/default.htm The page is hosted on the Windows Azure cloud and the WCF service executes every time that you request the page to retrieve the list of products. Summary Because we started from scratch, we needed to complete several steps to create and deploy our jQuery application to the Windows Azure cloud. We needed to create a Windows Azure account, create a hosted service, install the Windows Azure Tools for Visual Studio, create the jQuery application, and deploy it to the cloud. Now that we have finished this process once, modifying our existing cloud application or creating a new cloud application is easy. jQuery and Windows Azure work nicely together. We can take advantage of jQuery to build applications that run in the browser and we can take advantage of Windows Azure to host the backend services required by our jQuery application. The big benefit of Windows Azure is that it enables us to scale. If, all of the sudden, our jQuery application explodes in popularity, Windows Azure enables us to easily scale up to meet the demand. We can handle anything that the Internet might throw at us.

• Extjs Tooltips, IFrames and IE => Problems

  I have an application using OpenLayers, Extjs and GeoExt. My application runs fine, but I need it to be placed inside an IFrame in another page. When doing this, my toolbar becomes responseless in Internet Explorer. The cause is Ext.QuickTips.init();. Comment out this line and everything works fine - except the quick tips ofcourse =) But why is it causing problems? Is it because I'm using it wrong, placing it wrong or just because it doesn't like IE and IFrames? • Java error starting with "log4j:WARN No appenders could be found for logger" in ZuckerReports SugarC

  Greetings all. I apologise for posting this problem here, but I do so in desperation after receiving no response on the SugarCRM forums. Even if a reader is unfamiliar with ZuckerReports or SugarCRM some general advice on Java may be of use to me. I have installed ZuckerReports v1.12 in SugarCRM 5.5.1. The installation in which the report runs correctly is of the same version, and has the same version of the ZuckerReports module. The report previously ran correctly on both installations. I think that the only changes that have been made on the installation in which the report now does not work since the report was last successfully run are the additions of a few custom fields in the Contacts module. These changes should have nothing to do with ZuckerReports. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the ZuckerReports module, but the problem remains. A google search for the warnings given in the error message ie. * log4j:WARN No appenders could be found for logger (net.sf.jasperreports.extensions.ExtensionsEnviron ment). * log4j:WARN Please initialize the log4j system properly. Returns a few links (not specific to ZuckerReports) with tips similar to the following: * log4j.properties or log4j.xml needs to be on the classpath where log4j can find it. I cannot find a file with either of those names anywhere on my server, and yet the report can be run successfully on one of my SugarCRM installations. So I figure log4j must be being configured another way. Can anyone suggest a way to solve this problem? Or explain how I might discover how log4j is configured in ZuckerReports? Or explain how I might compare the working with the non-working installation in order to help find a solution? (I have tried searching for files containing "log4j" in both installations and comparing but all I can find are .jar files (nothing I can read with a text editor), and the .jar files found in each installation appear to be the same.)

• Avoid richfaces to send back javascript libraries in the ajax responses

  I'm using JSF 1.2 with Richfaces, and for every ajax request, the server is sending back the response, whichi is good, but it also contains all the links to the javascript files. I want to improve the performance so I just want the <body> to be returned, because all the javascript files are already loaded in the browser when the user logs in (my app is not restful). How can i do that?   I have a J2EE application running on an IBM Websphere Application Server on a Windows Operating System. • How to install plugins on Eclipse.

  Hi, i know there already are other questions like this, but i could't find anything useful. And it's becoming such a painful issue.. I was trying to install ObjectAid on Eclipse 3.5.1. So, lets google, http://www.objectaid.com shows up. i added it to the repository list, then checked ObjectAid UML Explorer. It says: Cannot complete the install because one or more required items could not be found. Software being installed: ObjectAid Class Diagram 0.9.86 (com.objectaid.uml.feature.group 0.9.86) Missing requirement: ObjectAid Class Diagram 0.9.86 (com.objectaid.uml.feature.group 0.9.86) requires 'org.eclipse.draw2d 0.0.0' I've had a look into /opt/eclipse/plugins and i've found org.eclipse.draw2d_3.5.2.v20091126-1908, but i coudnt figure out how to install it. The operating system is Ubuntu. Thanks for any help.

• IIS 7 Authentication: Certain users can't authenticate, while almost all others can.

  I'm using IIS 7 Digest authentication to control access to a certain directory containing files. Users access the files through a department website from inside our network and outside. I've set NTFS permissions on the directory to allow a certain AD group to view the files. When I click a link to one of those files on the website I get prompted for a username and password. With most users everything works fine, but with a few of them it prompts for a password 3 times and then get: 401 - Unauthorized: Access is denied due to invalid credentials. But other users that are in the group can get in without a problem. If I switch it over to Windows Authentication, then the trouble users can log in fine. That directory is also shared, and users that can't log in through the website are able to browse to the share and view files in it, so I know that the permissions are ok.   Hi, I'm trying the Hello MapView Tutorial at the moment. Whe I launch the program in the emulator, I get a huge number of errors (none of the exceptions seems to be related with lines in my code). The emulator window tells the program "stopped unexpectedly". Can anybody tell me which is the key line in the error output?   Hi friends, I am trying to write a small application using bouncycastle algorithm, from the http://tinyurl.com/ylclavn (BouncyCastleProvider.java) it says we have to import and add the provider during runtime by the following code import org.bouncycastle.jce.provider.BouncyCastleProvider; Security.addProvider(new BouncyCastleProvider()); error - The import org.bouncycastle cannot be resolved; during import error - BouncyCastleProvider cannot be resolved to a type; when calling addProvider I though bouncycastle is not provided with the Android 1.6 SDK, so thought of installing separately. how should i do this? If Bouncycastle is shipped along with SDK, what should i do to avoid these errors? I am using Android 1.6, eclipse-V3.4.0 on winXP . Thanks in advance

• Strange Play Framework 2.2 exceptions after trying to add MySQL / slick

  I'm working on a Play 2.2 application, and things have gone a bit south on me since I've tried adding my DB layer. Below are my build.sbt dependencies. As you can see I use mysql-connector-java and play-slick: libraryDependencies ++= Seq( jdbc, anorm, cache, "joda-time" % "joda-time" % "2.3", "mysql" % "mysql-connector-java" % "5.1.26", "com.typesafe.play" %% "play-slick" % "0.5.0.8", "com.aetrion.flickr" % "flickrapi" % "1.1" ) My application.conf has some similarly simple DB stuff in it: db.default.url="jdbc:mysql://localhost/myDb" db.default.driver="com.mysql.jdbc.Driver" db.default.user="root" db.default.pass="" This is what it looks like when my Play server starts: [info] play - Listening for HTTP on /0:0:0:0:0:0:0:0:9000 (Server started, use Ctrl+D to stop and go back to the console...)   In my eclipse RCP 3.3 application, I would like to enable or disable a 'save' toolbar button according to current editor dirty flag. I'm trying to use the <enabledWhen tag but I can't make it work.   Version 0.6.0 of gem2rpm includes all (development and runtime) dependencies for a given Gem. Example: Rack Gem (http://rubygems.org/gems/rack) Version 1.1.0 has no runtime dependencies, but six development dependencies. Console output of gem2rpm --dependencies rack-1.0.1.gem is: rubygem(test-spec) = 0 rubygem(camping) = 0 rubygem(fcgi) = 0 rubygem(memcache-client) = 0 rubygem(mongrel) = 0 rubygem(ruby-openid) = 2.0.0 rubygem(thin) = 0` How can I specify to only include runtime dependencies? I have also opened a ticket on rubyforge.org, but there isn't a lot of activity on that tracker. Thank you for any hints.
