  • Is currying just a way to avoid inheritance?

    So my understanding of currying (based on SO questions) is that it lets you partially set parameters of a function and return a "truncated" function as a result. If you have a big hairy function takes 10 parameters and looks like function (location, type, gender, jumpShot%, SSN, vegetarian, salary) { //weird stuff } and you want a "subset" function that will let you deal with presets for all but the jumpShot%, shouldn't you just break out a class that inherits from the original function? I suppose what I'm looking for is a use case for this pattern. Thanks!

  • Log files for group policy application deployment

    I'm looking into using group policy to deploy a couple of applications. I want to have the log of each installation written to a shared folder on a file server for tracking purposes. I can create the log if I pass the appropriate parameters. For example: msiexec /i Package.msi /l*vx c:\Package.log However using group policy for the deployment, you can't pass any parameters to the installation file. Is there anyway to specify the log file location in the process of creating the msi package?

  • "ResolveAssemblyReference" task fails and System.BadImageFormatException, but assembly isn't used an

    I am getting an error about the assembly "C:\Ora10g\bin\Zip.exe". The trouble is this solution does NOT use anything in Oracle at all. I could not find a single reference to 10g anywhere in the project. I inherited this from another person who left our group. He never had this issue. Another member of my team said he got this before but reinstalling the client portion of 10g fixed it. No such luck there. I even tried using WinGrep to search the entire solution folder for "Ora10g" but it wasn't there. Any ideas? I can't build this solution until I can figure out how to get rid of this false reference to Oracle. VS 2005 solution. Contains a couple WinForm apps, a couple class libraries, and a web service.     I have URLs like http://example.com/depict?smiles=CO&width=200&height=200 (and with several other optional arguments) My urls.py contains: urlpatterns = patterns('', (r'^$', 'cansmi.index'), (r'^cansmi$', 'cansmi.cansmi'), url(r'^depict$', cyclops.django.depict, name="cyclops-depict"), I can go to that URL and get the 200x200 PNG that was constructed, so I know that part works. In my template from the "cansmi.cansmi" response I want to construct a URL for the named template "cyclops-depict" given some query parameters. I thought I could do {% url cyclops-depict smiles=input_smiles width=200 height=200 %} where "input_smiles" is an input to the template via a form submission. In this case it's the string "CO" and I thought it would create a URL like the one at top. This template fails with a TemplateSyntaxError: Caught an exception while rendering: Reverse for 'cyclops-depict' with arguments '()' and keyword arguments '{'smiles': u'CO', 'height': 200, 'width': 200}' not found. This is a rather common error message both here on StackOverflow and elsewhere. In every case I found, people were using them with parameters in the URL path regexp, which is not the case I have where the parameters go into the query. That means I'm doing it wrong. How do I do it right? That is, I want to construct the full URL, including path and query parameters, using something in the template. Calling the Dispose method of this interface is performed to manually dispose of any managed or unmanaged resources currently being held onto. An example might be a Bitmap object or class. If I assign an object that implements IDisposable to a weak reference, will Dispose be called if the weak reference collects the object?

I'm aware that Server.Execute will pass along query parameters, but I'd like to pass data more generally. For instance: ' main.asp MyInclude("external.inc", Array("mykey", "myval")) ' external.inc Response.Write mykey I doubt I can get quite that far without reading the external fine, twiddling it, and executing, but I'd like to get as close as reasonably possible. Also, if possible, I'd prefer avoiding using the query passing option for security reasons.

When I am trying to add the service th' a client app, I get this error - "Custom tool error: Failed to generate code for the service reference 'ServiceReference1'. Please check other error and warning messages for details." But when I comment out the FaultContract Attribute, I am able to add the wcf service reference th' my client app. Would appreciate if somebody can help me solve this mystery. Thanks

I use ildasm/ilasm in combination along with a signing key to resign them, however, ReferencesFoo.dll still contains (in it's manifest?) the reference to the Foo.dll old public key and public key token. So, how do I sign both dll's with my key, and update the references in ReferencesFoo.dll without getting the source code and recompiling?
