• Building two executables in one project

  Hi, I've a project that must produce two executables: the main application and an executable that is called by a separate process. I've created the second file in Xcode and added a second target of type Cocoa Shell Tool. I can now build the second executable but when I try to build my project normally I get an error saying there's two executables present: ld: duplicate symbol _main in <path>/SecondExecutable.o and <path>/main.o (<path> was added by me to protect the innocent and their intelectual property). How can I configure Xcode to build both at the same time?

• IIS 7.5 powershell module usage issues

  Has anyone managed to use this module with success, i'm running 32bit Windows 7, where i have opened an administrator shell using run as administrator, i have imported the WebAdministration module and then attempted to use the commands with some issues, have provided two examples here Websites I created a web site with the following command new-website -name testsite -port 80 -hostheader testsite -physicalpath c:\temp Then i attempted to get the sites details using the command get-website -name testsite but it always returns all sites, seems to ignore the -name parameter. Only way i can get the site is using a filter get-website | ? { $_.name -eq 'testsite' } | get-member When i use appcmd it works as expected using the following command C:\> C:\Windows\System32\inetsrv\appcmd.exe list site testsite AppPools When i try to list the apppools using the following command dir iis:\apppools i get the following error Get-ChildItem : Access is denied. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070005 (E_ACCESSDENIED)) Yet when i use appcmd as follows i get all the apppools as expected without any error C:\Windows\System32\inetsrv\appcmd.exe list apppool Has anyone successfully managed to use the WebAdministration module ? • MinGW - cross compile tool - latest version?

  At the MinGW download page you can download the "Cross-Hosted MinGW Build Tool" which is a shell script to build the "MinGW cross-compiler" so that you will be able to compile your programs on "Linux" to the "Windows" target. I have downloaded that script, run it and answered the interactive questions the script has asked me. I had to dowload some files from which one has name "gcc-core". And the "latest" version of the "gcc-core source code" I have found on that page, was "gcc-core-3.4.5-20060117-2-src.tar.gz" - so that "3.4.5" version. But on "Ubuntu Linux" I can download the precompiled "mingw32" package which is of the version "4.2.1". How is it possible that the "Ubuntu package" version of MinGW is newer than the one from the MinGW "homepage"? So which is the latest version of the "MinGW cross compile tool"?

  hi all friends I meet a problem yestoday...maybe it's becoz it is april 1st... but it did exist. here i begin clarifying: i have 3 pcs in remote area..2 clients and 1 oracle server.. my app is running seperately in the two clients hourly connecting to the oracles,,my clients worked well be4 April 1th, but suddenly my app in the clients mechines went down...first i did not change any configurations.... i used libsqlora8 to connect the server...I went into a dead loop in the library...I tried sqlplus, but it dead there in my shell terminal, like it meets a infinite loop....no return until i pressed ctrl + c, the reason i guess is "infinite loop" somewhere..... btw, when i used my local pc to connect the server, it worked well...just from this phenomenon, wen can see the is problems lie in the client mechines..and i check the configuration file both in local mechine and client mechines..they are identical have you met a problem like this.... I dont hope it's frank of April 1st

  I had a Django site running on Dreamhost. Although I used SQLite when developing locally, I initially used MySQL on Dreamhost, because that’s what the wiki page said to do, and because if I’m using an ORM, I might as well take advantage of it by running against a different database. After a while, I switched the settings on the server to use SQLite, to make it easier to keep my development database in sync with the server one. python manage.py syncdb worked on the server, but when I tried to access the site, I got an OperationalError. The Django error page said that one of my tables didn’t exist. I checked the database using sqlite on the command line on the server, and using python manage.py shell, and both worked fine.

• Invert regexp in vim

  There's a few "how do I invert a regexp" questions here on stackoverflow, but I can't find one for vim (if it does exist, by goggle-fu is lacking today). In essence I want to match all non-printable characters and delete them. I could write a short script, or drop to a shell and use tr or something similar to delete, but a vim solution would be dandy :-) Vim has the atom \p to match printable characters, however trying to do this :s/[^\p]//g to match the inverse failed and just left me with every 'p' in the file. I've seen the (?!xxx) sequence in other questions, and vim seems to not recognise this sequence. I've not found seen an atom for non-printable chars. In the interim, I'm going to drop to external tools, but if anyone's got any trick up their sleeve to do this, it'd be welcome :-) Ta!

• Ant ignores attempt to override the LANG environment variable

  We need to test a java build with the languages set to different values. I can manually (i.e. via export LANG=en_DK.UTF-8 and export LANG=en_DK) test that the unit tests run with the ant build script behaves differently, but I need to set the environment variable from ant. I have tried setting it using these methods (with the shell $LANG set to en_DK.UTF-8): using -D on the command line: ant -DLANG=en_DK using a build.properties file with the line LANG=en_DK in it using the following statements in the build.xml file (sorry for the formatting, I can't get SO to display it otherwise): : <property environment="ANTENV"/> <property name="ANTENV.LANG" value="en_DK"/> Using any of the three possibilities, and when run with -debug, ant reports that: Override ignored for property "LANG" What can I do to set the LANG environment variable from within ant?

  I'm working with MEF right now, but the answer I'm looking for probably is irrelevant to MEF -- it's all dependency injection -- I'm just using MEF terminology as an example here. Short background story, I read this article over at MSDN with focus on Composite Applications In this figure there's three things, the shell, the application services and the modules. So that's a composite application. What I don't fully get is the application services part. What's the service, what does it look like? How do you expose a service through a module and how do you consume a service from a different module? I'd really like to see some neat small code examples, nothing fancy but something to illustrate how all this comes to life (the application services part).

• Problem creating PostGIS template database

  I am trying to build a template geographic database for PostGIS (1.5) on Mac OS X Snow Leopard (10.6) for my GeoDjango application. I am following: http://docs.djangoproject.com/en/dev/ref/contrib/gis/install/#creating-a-spatial-database-template-for-postgis I've managed to come up to the point where the provided postgis.sql should be run (i.e. psql -d template_postgis -f $POSTGIS_SQL_PATH/postgis.sql) At that point I am getting an error at the first SQL statement that is tried to be run. • Call iconv from Ruby through system()

  I have a problem with iconv tool. I try to call it from rake file in that way: Dir.glob("*.txt") do |file| system("iconv -f UTF-8 -t 'ASCII//TRANSLIT' #{ file } >> ascii_#{ file }") end But one file is converted partly (size of partialy converted: 10059092 bytes, before convertion: 10081854). Comparing this two files prove that not all content was writen to ASCII. When I call this command explicit from shell it works perfectly. Other smaller files are converted without problems. Is there any limitations on iconv or Ruby's system()?

  I want to create a Dashboard on each server to show it's health and the results of some daily processing. I plan to hook up shell scripts and Python programs to collect the data. Instead of writing a web-based interface, I thought it would be good to use a python based web dashboard that could render the results in various business user and manager friendly formats. What are my options to do this? I am primarily interested in Python RedHat Linux, but other platforms are interesting too. I'm also open to Perl and Ruby based solutions especially if the plugins can be language neutral.

• Drag and Drop to explorer causing invalid FORMATETC (DV_E_FORMATETC) error

  I'm trying to use this excellent example to implement dropping virtual files into Windows Explorer. However, I'm stymied by this error. Towards the bottom, inside void System.Runtime.InteropServices.ComTypes.IDataObject.GetData(ref System.Runtime.InteropServices.ComTypes.FORMATETC formatetc, out System.Runtime.InteropServices.ComTypes.STGMEDIUM medium) on the first call to ((System.Runtime.InteropServices.ComTypes.IDataObject)this).GetDataHere(ref formatetc, ref medium); I'm getting back a DV_E_FORMATETC error. As far as I can tell, all the elements of the FORMATETC struct that are being passed in are valid: cfFormat is "Shell IDList Array" (-16141), ptd is 0, dwAspect is DVASPECT_CONTENT, lindex is -1, and tymed is TYMED_HGLOBAL. I'm kind of confused how there'd be a problem anyway, since this was generated by explorer. I know very little about COM interaction, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

• Django Distinct on queryset in forms.py

  Hi all, I try to get a list with distinct into the forms.py like this: forms.ModelMultipleChoiceField(queryset=Events.objects.values('hostname'), required=False).distinct() In the python shell this command works perfect, but when trying it in forms.py leaves me a blank form, so nothing appears. When i just do Events.objects.all() the form appears, but distinct doesn't work with Events.objects.all()... i also tried values_list etc but doesn't seem to fit into the forms neither... anyone got an idea how to get a SELECT DISTINCT into a ModelMultipleChoiceField? I read some other questions about this at stackoverflow but nothing seems to work out with me, so hopefully someone knows how to do this in forms.py. Thxs in advance

  I have a question related to mysql and python. • Hudson trigget builds remotely gives a forbidden 403 error

  I have a shell script on the same machine that hudson is deployed on and upon executing it, it calls wget on a hudson build trigger URL. Since its the same machine, I access it as http://localhost:8080/hudson/job/jobname/build?token=sometoken Typically, this is supposed to trigger a build on the project. But I get a 403 forbidden when I do this. Anybody has any idea why? I have tried this using a browser and it triggers the build, but via the command line it doesn't seem to work. Any ideas?

  I want to check users' subscribed dates for certain period. And send mail to users whose subscription is finishing (ex. reminds two days). I think the best way is using thread and timer to check dates. But I have no idea how to call this function. I don't want to make a separate program or shell. I want to combine this procedure to my django code. I tried to call this function in my settings.py file. But it seems it is not a good idea. It calls the fucntion and creates thread everytime i imported settings.

• Is there a good AddIn for Visual Studio that will launch msbuild targets?

  One of the things I like about the Java IDEs out there is that they typically have the ability to allow a user to right-click on an Ant file and run one of the targets. I've got an msbuild file in my solution that is used for migrating the application database, and would kill to be able to right-click on it, select "update" or "rollback" and have it run. My searching has not turned up anything meant to run inside VS2008, just a shell extension for windows explorer. Has anybody seen such an animal out there? Cordially, Jon

  I would like to quickly send email from the command line. I realize there are probably a number of different ways to do this. I'm looking for a simple way to do this from a linux terminal (likely a bash shell but anything should do) and an alternative way to do this on Windows. I want to be able to whip up an email right on the command line or have the flexibility to pipe the message into the command line program. How would you go about doing this?   I want to exceute a simple command which works from the shell but doesn't work from Java. This is the command I want to execute, which works fine: soffice -headless "-accept=socket,host=localhost,port=8100;urp;" This is the code I am excecuting from Java trying to run this command: String[] commands = new String[] {"soffice","-headless","\"-accept=socket,host=localhost,port=8100;urp;\""}; Process process = Runtime.getRuntime().exec(commands) int code = process.waitFor(); if(code == 0) System.out.println("Commands executed successfully"); When I run this program I get "Commands executed successfully". However the process is not running when the program finishes. Is it possible that the JVM kills the program after it has run? Why doesn't this work?

• Where is the default language data stored in OS 10.6

  From a shell in 10.4 or 10.5, I was able to do this: /usr/bin/defaults read NSGlobalDomain AppleLanguages To get the list of the language preference for that particular machine. This was done so that I could restore it back to that list after changing it with the 'defaults write' command to something else (in order to help automate l10n testing). Now, along comes OS 10.6, and AppleLanguages is nowhere in any of our defaults domains. I know that I can alter it for each running application by altering their specific property lists...but at the cost of more complexity. Also, some of the apps I have under test here are installer packages...and It's a real pain to change stuff (like the .plist I'd have to change here) in those without being somewhat destructive; that's why I chose to do it globally in the first place. Anyways, it'd be great if I could find where they stashed it now...or if they deprecated it (like a zillion other things in OS 10.6) completely.

  I want to start automating more of my web development process so I'm looking for a build system. I write mostly PHP apps on Mac OS X and deploy Linux servers over FTP. A lot of my clients have basic hosting providers so shell access to their servers is typically not available, however remote MySQL access is usually present. Here is what I want to do with a build system: When Building: Lint JavaScript Files Validate CSS Files Validate HTML Files Minify and concatenate JS and CSS files Verify PHP Syntax Set Debug/Production flags When Deploying Checkout latest version from SVN Run build process Upload files to server via FTP Run SQL scripts on remote DB I realize this is a lot of work to automate but I think it would be worth it. So what is the best way to start down this path? Is there a system that can handle builds and deploys, or should I search for separate solutions? What systems would you recommend?
