  • How to hide keys in application?

    I have a C++ client/server application where the client and server are my executable. Each time a connection is made between the client and server, I generate a new encryption key for that session and I wish to transmit this session key and encrypt this session key using a static key that is built into both the client and server. However, running strings on my executable reveals the static key. How can I hide the embedded static key in my client and server application so that they are not easily extracted and thus allowing someone to decode my session key.

I wrote a question and I supposed that three errors will occurred in the code but the compiler complained only about two. the code is : class MyClass { static MyClass() { System.out.println("I am The First Statement here!"); this(); } } I expected the following errors : the constructor can't be static this can't be in a static function (since the constructor isn't valid) this here should be the first statement. NetBeans isn't complaining about the second error here. why ?

    Yes I know that it shouldn't be abused and that C# is primariy used as a static language. But seriously folks if you could just dirty up some code, in the python style, or create some dynamic do hicky, would you? My mind is working overtime on this having spent a while loving the dynamics of python, is c# going over to the dark side through the back door? Is the argument for static typing a dead one with this obvious addition? Is the argument for less Unit testing a bit silly when we are all grown ups?     I have a lighttpd server running locally. If I load a static file on the server (through an html5 audio tag), it plays and seeks fine. However, seeking doesn't work when running a dev server (web.py/CherryPy) or if I return the bytes via a defined action url instead of as a static file. It won't load the duration either. According to the "HTTP byte range requests" section in this Opera Page it's something to do with support for byte range requests/partial content responses. The content is treated as streaming instead. What I don't understand is: If the browser has the whole file downloaded surely it can display the duration, and surely it can seek. What I need to do on the web server to enable byte range requests (for non-static urls). Any advice would be most gratefully received.

    For the same niche and same set of keyword, does google adsense serve higher cpc ads to a website that has higher number of visits ? I have observed that for similar niches 1 website (with 3K daily uniques) makes around $100 a month, and another website (with 10k daily uniques) makes around $700-800 a month it seems that the earning curve is not linearly dependant on visit count and somewhat increases at a rate faster than the growth of visits, this leads me to think if the google adsense algorithm serves higher cpc ads once a website starts getting large number of visits.

At first I was thinking, it registers it's instances to keep track of them, but regular constructors could do the same thing through the use of private static variables. What is the reasoning behind this style?

But every time I use GetUser("user1"), hibernate shows that it is executing a new query to database. What would be the best way to have the string identifier be cached also?
