My Server Specs:
- Centos 4.8 32 bit
- Cpanel / WHM
- suPHP enabled on PHP 5.3x
- MySQL 5x
I need someone to please show me various ways to trace what is causing server load spikes.
Sometimes I see so many "nobody" users running httpd processes, but I dont' know how to determine what user(s) it might be, even though suPHP is enabled.
Windows server 2012 installed on a ISCI LUN. Problem noticed after first reboot. Windows boots only if setup DVD is present(i have to ignore "press any key to boot from DVD" prompt). to present the login Screen and everything looks great from here. But the server wont boot without the help of setup DVD. Can any one help me understand what would be the problem?
Dell Workstation T3600
Intel Pro NIC (Capable of ISCI Boot and also enabled)
So i am working on my member server right now and everytime I am adding accounts in security tab of a folder, I am asked for login name and password from the Domain Controller. How do select so I dont need to do this everytime? I am watching this video guide and the man there never need to fill in credentials on his member server.
I have never built a server before, so I need some suggestions.
What should I consider when choosing hardware for a web server?
I have a budget of 10k.
I have to perform various task such as restarting process, monitor process state check disk space, log monitoring on Window server 2003 machine. For this i am using remote desktop access which is very slow. Is there any alternate (Tool or Framework) for windows server where i can execute my script on my machine and the required task will be performed on the remote machine in somewhat interactive manner (like putty in linux)
Hello,
We are doing distributed development, working at home, office and sometimes at customers.
We are using assembla for source-repository and we need a centralized-remote SQL Server 2008 database hosting for (similar to svn on assembla) our SQL development server.
Can you name / recommend any service providers?
We have two Windows 2008 domain controllers. We installed the second DC only a few months ago. We also have a TFS 2012 server on the network.
Today, when the older DC crashed, TFS stopped working completely. Local users received messages such as "You are not authorized to access ServerName\Collection". Remote users received messages such as "The server was used in your last session, but it might be offline or unreachable".
So my question is, why did TFS not use the second, newer DC instead of just crashing along with the first DC?
Is there a way to manage a Hyper-V cluster that runs on a Windows Server 2008 R2 Datacenter from a Windows 8.1 Pro workstation?
I've downloaded and installed the Remote Server Admin Tools for 8.1 (http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=39296), but when I enable the Hyper-V manager, it tells me that I can't manage Hyper-V servers on 2K8 or 2K8R2.
Related, the Failover Cluster Manager barfs with a similar error.
How do I manage my old servers with my new workstation?
We've developing a database driven (70%/30% read/write load) website using C#.NET, IIS and MS SQL Server 2008 to be hosted on Windows 2008. Due to contractual reasons our setup has to be hosted on our own physical/virtual servers instead of a cloud solution at this stage.
Could someone outline or link to some best practices that would provide both high availability (priority at the moment) and eventually load balancing for our site. We're probably looking at some sort of 2 SQL server mirrored system and 2 ISS web servers to start with.
Thanks in advance.
One of my older motherboards broke and I'm planning to use the remaining power supply, hard drive and case to build a backup server. I want to buy a new motherboard and CPU that can be used 24x7 and wont break down in a few months.
So the question is, do you have any recommendations on any reliable motherboards and CPU for a backup server? Processing power is not a huge issue.
I am a .net programmer trying to create this setup:
I want this server to be inaccessible through DMZ accept for IPSEC connections, and to also have a private network which will be accessible through another windows 2008 server which will host vpn.
That is how our windows 2003 infrastructure works and I am trying to do the same with 2008 servers, are there any guides or documentations that have this scenario?
I have got a windows server 2003 with partitioned Hard drive 10Go and 80Go, and i want to improve the storage capacity as the little partition 10Go is almost full.
So i have got choice between partition the hard drive to equal parts, or set up a new hard drive with better storage capacity.knowing that the server has to be on service as soon as possible.
Which one may be the better solution that takes less time and less risks?
On my server with Windows 2003 Server after a fault in the RAM, I can ping to all IPs but I cannot see it at My Network Places. Could you help me if there is any Windows components to be reinstalled, or any registry entries to be redefined. Or is there any other solution?
Thanks
So I have a box running a Windows Server 2008 R2 in my LAN, which is running, among other things, a voip server used by other people. I myself am in the same subnet with the server, while the other users are not.
Now, maybe on average twice a day, all the other users get disconnected from the server (and if I take a remote desktop connection to it, I'm not able to open any web pages either). These disconnections usually last only about 5 seconds, but sometimes they may last up to a minute. What could possibly cause this?
I have all the updates installed from windows update and the motherboard of the server is asus p5b deluxe (if that is of any interest).
edit: Forgot to mention that my own internet connectivity stays intact while the server's does not, and both computers are behind the same router.
i have windows 2003 server

I created a database using a november CTP preview of MS SQL Server 2008R2. Is it possible to transfer this database to use with older version, SQL Server 2008?
I am very new in server management thing. I want to make email accounts like [email protected].

I am on Ubuntu 10 server.
I have a windows server 2008 with exchange database full backup. Now for testing purpose i want to restore that full server to a VM. I have copied the whole backup to VM01 and took it to Private Network. And now i want to take backup from VM01 and restore it to VM02. Both are at private network. I was able to find VM02 test backup by searching in VM1. But the copyed restore file is not showing in the window !!!
Is there any policy so that i can not restore except from the original location?
When I leave my server idle for about 10 minutes the network will stop responding to outside connections. If I get on the server and attempt to use the network(ping google for example) there will be a delay for a few seconds and then it works. After this incoming connections work again until I leave it idle again. Why does this happen and how can I fix it?
Hello,
we are a small business company (60-100 emploees) handling financial data. We want to have a secure E-Mail Server. What is the best in-house solution? Our laws force us to ?eep the server physically at our place.
Is Exchange secure enough, or are we better off with Linux and Postfix+Dovecot?
For that reason we will hire a system-administrator, but whats more secure solution?
Thanks in advance
I am in serious trouble and I am seeking professional advices here.
We are using MSSQL server 2008. We removed primary key, replaced exiting data with new data resulted losing our critical business data in its child tables on MSSQL Server. It was completely human mistake and we didn't have disk failure.
1) The last backup file was a month ago which means it is useless.
2) We created Maintenance Plans to backup our database at 12AM everyday but those files are nohwere to be found
3) A friend of mine said we can recover from Transaction Logs. When I go to TaskRestore Transaction log is dimmed/disabled.
4) I checked ManagementMaintenance Plans. I can't find any restored point there. It seems that our maintenance plan hasn't been working.
Is there any third party tool to recover lost/overwritten data from MSSQL table? Thanks a lot.
my friend's company has a win2008 server, not R2, and it's really slow, it has 8G ram, has a SAP business one running on it, and it's also an AD, DHCP, DNS server, has Kaspersky 6 AV running as well. CPU usage is constantly 100%, physical memory is around 70%-90% even close everything, disable AV, if check processes, taskmgr.exe and windows explorer use like 40% each sometimes, do you have any suggestion what could be
